변화(Transmission)는 오직 복음만 (행23:12-23)
서론
제가 이번 현장에서 한 성도로부터 이야기를 들었다. 자기는 방언을 하는데 방언을 할 때 이상하게 웃음이 나오고 마음 속에서 기쁨이 솟아난다고 한다. 그 기쁨이 어떤 기쁨이냐 물었다. 말할 수 없는 감격이 나타나고 웃음이 저절로 나온다고 했다. 그래서 그 분에게 조용히 이야기했다. 그것은 토론토 블레싱이라는데서 나타난 은사 중에 하나입니다. 오늘 이후서부터는 하지 마시기 바랍니다. 깜짝놀라며 왜 그러냐 물었다. 그것은 사단의 역사입니다. 성령께서는 그런 식으로 역사하시지 않습니다. 그분은 그 이야기를 듣고 모든 방언을 다 끊었다. 감사했다. 또 다른 사람을 만났다. 이 사람은 투시 은사가 있다고 했다. 어떻냐고 물었다. 사람들을 보면 그 사람의 목에 뱀이 감겨있는 것을 본다고 했다. 그리고 귀신이 그 사람하고 같이 다니는 것을 본다고 한다. 그러면서 뭔가 자기자신을 내새우는 이야기를 한다. 그래서 제가 이야기했다. 그것은 투시 은사가 아니라 사단이 장난질 하는 것입니다 얘기했다. 많은 사람들이 투시 은사 받았다고 하면서 사람들이 죄를 본다고 하는데 그것은 무당들이 하는 것과 똑같습니다. 무당들이 받는 은사하고 똑같은 은사라고 생각하시면 됩니다. 많은 사람들이 이것이 은사인 줄 알고 속고 있습니다. 상대방에게 있는 뱀이 보이고 귀신이 보인다는 것은 그 사람에게도 문제가 있지만 당신에게도 있다는 것을 나타냅니다. 이런 식으로 방언의 은사나 투시 은사를 받은사람들에게 나타나는 공통점이 있다. 이런 사람들은 그 사람 스스로가 영적으로 점점 어려운 일을 당하기 시작한다. 영적으로 어려움을 당할 뿐 아니라 자기 하던 일도 이상하게 막히기 시작한다. 육신의 질병까지도 감당할 수 없어 치유받지 못하고 점점 어려움을 당한다. 자기의 영적문제를 해결하고 육신문제를 해결하기 위해서 가서 부르짖는데 사실은 그렇게 하는 것 자체가 점점 귀신에게 사로잡히게 한다는 것을 모르고있다. 이것을 계속 하게되면 결과적으로 영적 육적 폐인이 되고만다. 그러면 어떻게 하면 되는가. 빨리 그것을 그만두고 올바른 말씀 운동, 복음 운동으로 들어가야한다. 이 사람들은 그렇게 기도 하다 무언가 뜨거워 지고 느끼고 보기도 하는 현상이 생긴다. 그것이 마치 하나님께서 주신 응답인줄 알고 더 깊이 빠져들어가게 된다. 하나님은 그렇게 역사 하실 수도 있다. 그러나 대부분 사람들은 속고있다는 것을 모르고있다. 1% 정도는 하나님을 그렇게 역사하실 수 있다는 가능성을 두고있다. 많은 사람들이 속고있다. 그런 능력을 행하는 부흥사나 목사님들을 많이 알고있다. 결국은 그 사람들도 어려움을 당한다. 우리가 올바른 정신으로 복음안에서 그리스도 은혜 안에서 신앙생활하는 것이 가장 중요하다. 모든 신앙생활의 방향을 그런데 맞추지 마시고 하나님 말씀이 성취되는 과정을 바라보면서 신앙생활하는게 중요하다. 우리가 지금 복음을 보고있다. 복음에 대해서 계속 깨닫고 있는 것은 말씀이 성취되는 과정 가운데 내가 들어가는 것이다. 다시 말씀드리면 내가 살든지 죽든지 그런 것이 문제가 아니라 나를 통해서 하나님의 언약을 하나님께서 성취해나가신다는 것을 체험할 때 이것이 올바른 방향이다. 참 나처럼 부족하고 연약한 종을 언약을 위해서 사용하시는구나 하는 이것이 가장 큰 축복이다. 붙잡으시기 바란다. 하나님은 언약의 하나님이시다. 사도바울이 어려움을 당하는 이유가 언약 속에 있기 때문이다. 하나님께서 사도바울을 쓰시는 것은 언약을 성취하기 위함이다. 이 흑암권세와의 싸움은 언약을 성취하느냐 못하느냐의 싸움이다. 하나님께서 정말로 감사하게 우리에게 언약과 복음을 깨닫게 해주셨다.
1. 바울에 대한 계획
1) 유대인들의 계획
지금 사도바울을 죽이기 위해서 유대인들이 40명의 결사대를 결성했다. 그래서 사도바울을 죽이기 전까지는 먹지도 마시지도 않겠다고 맹세를 했다. 그래서 이들이 대제사장과 장로들 앞에 가서 맹세한다. 우리가 사도바울을 죽이기까지는 먹지도 않고 마시지도 않겠다고 맹세하면서 도와달라고 한다. 이들은 사도바울을 죽이는 것이 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 일로 착각하고 있는 것이다. 그러면서 대제사장과 장로님들께서 천부장에게 가서 사도바울을 더 조사할 일이 있으니까 공회로 오도록 해달라고 부탁해달라고 한다. 그 때 천부장이 자기도 사도바울이 무슨 죄가 있는지 알아봐야하니까 틀림없이 데리고 올 것이다. 다리고 올때 기습을 해서 죽이려고 한것이다. 혹시 호위하는 로마 군인들과 싸우다가 죽는 한이 있더라고 반드시 죽이겠다는 것이다. 사도바울을 죽이기 위해서 치밀한 계획을 세우고 실행하는 것을 볼 수 있다. 40명이나 되는 사람들이 죽을 각오를 하면서 사도바울을 죽이겠다는 것이다. 전도자를 죽이기 위해서 생명을 거는 것이다. 이것이 유대인의 계획이라면 하나님의 계획은 어떤가.
2) 예수님의 계획
예수님께서는 이 일이 있을 줄 미리 아시고 사도바울 옆에 서서 이야기하셨다.
행23:11 그 날 밤에 주께서 바울 곁에 서서 이르시되 담대하라 네가 예루살렘에서 나의 일을 증언한 것 같이 로마에서도 증언하여야 하리라 하시니라
이런 일이 있을 것을 미리 아시고 주님께서는 확실하게 언약을 주신 것이다. 내가 너를 통해서 로마 복음화를 할 때까지 지켜주시겠다는 것이다. 지금 예수님께서 이 말씀을 하신 이후에 바로 나타나는 것이 40명의 결사대이다. 어떻게 본다면 사도바울은 더 어려운 여건에 빠진 것이다. 이것은 무엇을 의미하는가. 사단은 사도바울이 로마에 가서 복음 증거하는 것 자체를 싫어하기 때문에 가로막으려고 하는 것이다. 바울은 어떤 사람인가. 이미 예루살렘에 오기 전에 행 20:24에 이런 어려움이 있을 것이라는 응답을 미리 받았었다.
행 20:24 내가 달려갈 길과 주 예수께 받은 사명 곧 하나님의 은혜의 복음을 증언하는 일을 마치려 함에는 나의 생명조차 조금도 귀한 것으로 여기지 아니하노라
이 사도바울은 예수님을 위해서 이미 자기 생명을 내놓은 사람이다. 오직 언약을 성취하기 위해서 죽음을 각오하고 나가는 사람이었다. 지금 영적 싸움이 생기고 있는 것이다. 유대인들은 40명이 모여서 어떻게하든지 바울을 죽이겠다고 계획을 세우고 있는 것이고 사도바울은 죽을 각오를 하고 언약을 성취하겠다는 것이다. 어떻게 본다면 40:1의 영적싸움이 벌어지고 있는 것이다. 누가 이기겠는가. 40명이 이기겠는가 한 명이 이기겠는가. 한 명인 사도바울에게는 하나님이 계시다는 사실을 모르고있다. 우리에게는 아무리 열악한 환경이 있다고 하더라도 하나님이 있다면 아무 상관없다. 하나님이 이런 상황을 미리 다 아신다. 그래서 사도바울을 조카를 사용하신다.
2. 하나님의 섭리
1) 바울의 조카를 사용
그들이 모의를 벌이고 있는데 마침 사도바울의 조카가 듣고있는 사실을 몰랐다. 그 사실을 사도바울에게 전달했다. 벌써 하나님께서 역사하시고 있는것 아닌가. 사도바울이 백부장에게 이 아이를 천부장에게 인도하라고 부탁한다. 이 천부장이 그 소리를 듣자마자 너 누구야 하고 심문하고 의심하는 것이 아니라 그랬어? 하고 남들이 듣지 못하는데 가서 조용히 무슨 일이냐 하고 묻는다. 조카가 자기 들은 얘기를 천부장에게 자세히 전한다. 40명이 죽이기 전에는 먹지도 않고 마시지도 않겠다고 결의했습니다. 사도바울이 위험합니다. 그 이야기를 들은 천부장이 조금도 확실하냐 하고 묻지도 않고 그냥 믿고 아무에게도 얘기하기 말라고 부탁한다. 이것이 하나님의 역사이다. 아무에게도 말하지 말라는 것은 사도바울이나 조카가 부탁해야할 말이다. 그런데 천부장이 얘기한다. 이것은 하나님은 언약가진 자와 함께하신다는 것을 나타낸다. 우리가 언약만 가지면 어떤 환경이라고 하더라도 이길 수 있다는 것이다 왜냐하면 언약은 반드시 성취되기 때문이다. 여기서 하나님의 섭리를 볼 수 있다.
2) 하나님의 섭리
40명이 모의하는 것을 조카가 들었다. 이것이 우연인가. 이것은 하나님이 조카를 준비시킨 것이다. 23절 말씀을 보게되면 조카의 말을 듣고 천부장이 생각하고 결단한 내용이 나온다.
행23:23 백부장 둘을 불러 이르되 밤 제 삼 시에 가이사랴까지 갈 보병 이백 명과 기병 칠십 명과 창병 이백 명을 준비하라 하고
하나님께서는 천부장의 권한을 이용하시는 것을 볼 수 있다. 백부장 정도로 이렇게 할 수 없다. 천부장 정도 되니까 그렇게 명령할 수가 있는 것이다. 이것도 하나님이 사용하시는 것이다. 우리가 아직 보지 않았습니다만 결과적으로 사도바울은 다른 장소로 옮겨서 거기서 벨릭스 총독도 만나게 되고 베스도 총독도 만나게 되고 아그립바 왕도 만나게된다. 그들에게 그리스도를 증언하는 자리에 서게된다. 사단은 이 사도바울을 죽이려고 했지만 하나님께서는 그것을 이용하셔서 총독들과 왕 앞에서 증거할 수 있게 하셨다. 40인 결사대가 없었다면 그런 일이 생길 수 없었다. 하나님의 놀라운 섭리를 볼 수 있다. 하나님께서는 하나님의 뜻을 이루기 위해서 사단의 역사까지 사용하시면서 그리스도를 증거할 수 있도록 문을 열어주신다. 이런 것이 보게되면 언약 속에 있는 것이 얼마나 큰 축복 속에 있는 것인가를 알 수 있다. 사도바울이 감옥소에 있는 것이 아니라 언약의 축복 속에 있는 것이다.
3) 언약 속에 있는 자의 축복
사도바울이 유대인들에게 복음을 증거하고 대제사장 장로들에게도 복음을 증거했을 뿐 아니라 천부장에게도 복음을 증거했다. 나중에 총독, 왕 앞에서도 복음을 증거할 수 있도록 계속 문을 여신다. 사도바울이 만나는 사람 마다 누구든지 바로 예수께서 그리스도인 것을 증거한 것을 볼 수 있다. 사도바울이 증언하는 내용을 보게되면 유대인들 너희를 속이는 사단의 정체를 보라는 것이다. 죄를 죄인지도 모르고 죄를 짓게 만드는 죄의 권세에 붙잡혀있는 것을 깨달으라는 것이다. 흑암에 붙잡혀 지옥배경속에 살아가고 있는 이 인간들의 모습을 발견하라는 것이다. 너희들의 모든 문제를 해결하신 분이 그리스도라는 것이다. 그리스도 아니면 너희를 붙잡고 있는 사단에게서 해방될 수 없다는 것이다. 죄의 권세에서 빠져나올 수 없다는 것이다. 지옥배경에서 빠져나올 수 없다는 것이다. 그러므로 내가 붙잡은것처럼 그것을 붙잡을때 살수있는것이다. 그래서 내가 만난 그리스도를 계속 얘기했다. 우리도 이 축복 속에 있는 줄로 믿는다.
마28:20 --내가 세상 끝날까지 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라 하시니라
사도바울에게만 있었던 그리스도가 아니라 세상끝날때까지 지금도 우리와 함께 계시는걸 나타내고 있는 것이다. 바로 언약 속에 역사하시는 그리스도가 지금도 살아계시다는 것이다. 언약가진 사도바울이 귀하다면 언약가진 우리도 하나님이 귀하게 보신다. 분명하다. 하나님이 여러분들을 얼마나 귀하게 보시는지 모른다. 최고의 축복 속에 있는 여러분인 줄로 믿는다.
3. 변화(Transmission)의 축복
1) 각인, 뿌리, 체질의 변화
많은 사람들이 교회를 다니면서도 복음이 뭔지를 모르고있다. 지금 불신자들도 많은 어려움과 고통을 당하는 그들이 살길을 모르고있다. 그들을 변화시켜야한다. 이 40명의 결사대처럼 그들에게 각인되고 뿌리내리고 체질되어있는 잘못된 신앙을 바꿔야한다. 그들은 그것이 하나님께 영광돌리는 것인 줄 알고있다. 내가 오클라호마 목사님을 만나서 그렇게 자기는 영적문제오고 우울증오고 방언기도하는데 안됩니다 했다. 방언을 하지 말아봐라 그러면 치유될거다 하고 얘기했다. 그분이 방언을 끊었다. 조금 지나고나더니 목사님 이제 좀 살 것 같아요 하고 고백했다. 그것이 마치 자기를 치유할 수 있는 유일한 방법인 줄 알고 새벽마다 가서 부르짖으면서 점점 더 사로잡히는 일인줄 모르고 있다. 여러분 이 40인 결사대들이 착각했던 것 처럼 사도바울도 옛날에 그랬다. 예수믿는 사람을 잡으러다녔다. 그런데 사도바울이 완전히 바뀌게 되었다. 원인이 무엇인가. 주님을 만나니까 완전히 변해버렸다. 바로 이것이 비밀이다. 주님을 만나는 것이다. 사도바울이 어떻게 변했는가. 사도바울이 주님을 만나고 다른사람들과 차이점이 무엇인가. 사도바울이 주님을 만나고 난후에 갈라디아서 2 장 20 절이 성취되었다.
갈2:20 내가 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못 박혔나니 그런즉 이제는 내가 사는 것이 아니요 오직 내 안에 그리스도께서 사시는 것이라 이제 내가 육체 가운데 사는 것은 나를 사랑하사 나를 위하여 자기 자신을 버리신 하나님의 아들을 믿는 믿음 안에서 사는 것이라
자기는 완전히 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못박혀 죽게된 것이다. 자기의 잘못된 각인된 것, 뿌리내린 것, 체질된 것들을 완전히 십자가에 못박은 것이다. 사도바울처럼 우리가 정말로 치유할 수 있는 유일한 방법이 무엇인가. 내가 배운 것, 아는 모든 것을 버리고 오직 그리스도, 오직 하나님 나라, 오직 성령의 능력을 힘입어 나아가야한다. 많은 사람들이 이 방향을 모르면서 뭔가를 느끼기위해 신경쓰고있다. 우리가 지금 시대적으로 치유할 내용을 메세지를 통해서 다시 확인해야겠다.
2) 치유할 내용
많은 사람들이 신앙생활하면서 잘못된 방향으로 가고 있습니다만 성경에는 점점 더 그렇게 될 것이라고 한다. 앞으로는 정신병 시대가 더 심해질 것이다. 중독시대, 질병시대가 심해질 것이다. 이것을 치유해야한다. 정확한 치유의 방법을 알아야겠다. 수 많은 사람들이 영적으로 함정에 틀에 올무에 사로잡혀있다. 교회다니면서 받은 상처에 붙잡혀 나오지 못하는 사람이 너무나 많다. 상처받은 것이 자랑이라도 되는 것 처럼 나 상처받았어 하면서 하나님을 멀리하고 있다. 사단에게 속는 것이 아닌가. 생각적으로 불안하고 착각 속에 살아가고 있다. 사람들이 여유가 없고 규모 없는 삶을 살아간다. 육신적으로는 점점 고통속에 빠져들어간다. 이것을 어떻게 치유해야하는가. 성경적인 올바른 치유 방법을 알아야겠다. 그것은 그리스도 하나님 나라 성령충만 밖에 없다는 것이다. 제가 현장에 가서 다른 어떤 방법도 쓰지말고 그리스도를 붙잡아라 얘기했다. 그리스도를 어떻게 붙잡는가. 내가 그동안에 사로잡혔던 사단의 권세를 꺾으신 만왕의 왕되신 분임을 붙잡아라. 나의 원죄 자범죄 조상죄 문제를 완전히 십자가에서 해결하신 참 제사장 되신 분임을 붙잡아라. 하나님의 아들께서 육신으로 이 땅에 오셔서 휘장을 갈라버리시고 하나님 만날 수 있는 길을 열어주신 참 선지자 됨을 놓고 기도하라. 그 그리스도가 나의 그리스도가 되길 원합니다 놓고 간절히 기도하라. 그러면 성령께서 역사하실 것이다. 그리고 말씀에 집중하라고 했다. 말씀을 녹취하거나 암송하라고 했다. 그리고 그냥 기도하지 말고 기도문을 써보라고 했다. 그렇다면 그 과정에서 하나님께서 참된 치유를 하실 것이다. 살리는 분은 하나님이시다. 내가 어떤 방법으로 하는 것이 아니라 믿음이 생기게되면 말씀의 능력으로 하나님이 살리신다. 주님께서 분명히 말씀하셨다.
마11:28 수고하고 무거운 짐 진 자들아 다 내게로 오라 내가 너희를 쉬게 하리라
주님께 맡기고 말씀 속에 들어가고 기도하라. 우리는 정확한 치유 방법을 증거해야할 줄 믿는다. 왜냐하면 우리가 받은 축복은 어마어마하다.
3)우리가 받은 축복
이번에 237 메세지 가운데서 제가 가장 인상깊었던 말씀이 하나님의 자녀는 누구나 영적인 의사라는 말씀이었다. 저와 여러분들은 영적인 의사다. 왜냐면 모든 불신자들은 영적인 환자이기 때문이다. 가장먼저는 그들에게 영적환자에서 하나님의 자녀가 되도록 축복을 해줘야 한다. 우리가 만나는 모든 현장은 영적 병원이다. 이 세상을 보게되면 사람들이 영적으로 노예, 포로, 속국된 삶을 살고있다. 이상한 것은 영적 노예, 포로, 속국된 삶을 사는 것 조차도 모르고 있다. 우리는 영적 의사로서 그들을 살려야할 줄로 믿는다. 어떻게 살리는가. 복음으로 살려야한다.
눅10:17 칠십 인이 기뻐하며 돌아와 이르되 주여 주의 이름이면 귀신들도 우리에게 항복하더이다
우리가 주님을 믿는 믿음으로 기도하게 되면 하나님이 우리 기도를 들어주시고 그들이 모든 흑암에서 벗어나게 하실 줄로 믿는다.
결론
사41:10 두려워하지 말라 내가 너와 함께 함이라 놀라지 말라 나는 네 하나님이 됨이라 내가 너를 굳세게 하리라 참으로 너를 도와 주리라 참으로 나의 의로운 오른손으로 너를 붙들리라
두려워하지 말라는 것은 두려워할 일이 생길것라는 것이다. 그런데 함께 있으니까 두려워할 것 없다는 것이다. 놀라지 말라고 하신다. 급박한 상황을 만나면 놀라서 쩔쩔매게 된다. 내가 네 하나님이 아니냐. 내가 너를 굳세게 하고 도와주겠다는 것이다. 나의 능력의 손으로 붙들어주겠다는 것이다. 언약잡은 우리에게는 현장마다 이런 역사가 나타날 줄로 믿는다.

Scripture: “12 And when it was day, some of the Jews banded together and bound themselves under an oath, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul. 13 Now there were more than forty who had formed this conspiracy. 14 They came to the chief priests and elders, and said, 'We have bound ourselves under a great oath that we will eat nothing until we have killed Paul. 15 Now you, therefore, together with the council, suggest to the commander that he be brought down to you tomorrow, as though you were going to make further inquiries concerning him; but we are ready to kill him before he comes near.' 16 So when Paul’s sister’s son heard of their ambush, he went and entered the barracks and told Paul. 17 Then Paul called one of the centurions to him and said, 'Take this young man to the commander, for he has something to tell him.' 18 So he took him and brought him to the commander and said, 'Paul the prisoner called me to him and asked me to bring this young man to you. He has something to say to you.' 19 Then the commander took him by the hand, went aside, and asked privately, 'What is it that you have to tell me?' 20 And he said, 'The Jews have agreed to ask that you bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though they were going to inquire more fully about him. 21 But do not yield to them, for more than forty of them lie in wait for him, men who have bound themselves by an oath that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him; and now they are ready, waiting for the promise from you.' 22 So the commander let the young man depart, and commanded him, 'Tell no one that you have revealed these things to me.' 23 And he called for two centurions, saying, 'Prepare two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea at the third hour of the night.' ”

There was a person that I met in the field and this person stated that whenever he would speak in tongues, they would feel so good and great joy would come to him. I would ask him what kind of joy that he felt and he stated inside his heart, great happiness and smiles would be felt when he speaks in tongues. I told him this quietly that speaking in tongues was one of the Toronto Blessings signs and I told him starting from today to stop speaking in tongues, and he asked why he should stop. I told him this is how Satan works and that the Holy Spirit does not work through that way. When this person heard this, he stopped speaking in tongues and I was thankful for this. I met another person and this person said that he possessed the gift of being able to see evil spirits. Whenever he saw people, he would see people with snakes around their necks as well as “ghosts” following people. He was saying all of this with so much confidence and was so happy to possess this “gift”. I told him that this is not a gift from God but Satan was playing around with him. Many people say that they possess “special gifts” from God but this is no different from the works of a shaman. When I told him this, he was so shocked because this is no different from being possessed by an evil spirit that shamans are possessed with. The fact that certain people are able to see “ghosts” around people, this means that there is a problem with the person who is able to see this and also those who possess those evil spirits. Without people knowing, their spiritual lives are becoming difficult and whatever they do, everything becomes difficult. The similarity of these people are people who are not able to receive healing of their physical problems and diseases. In order to heal their spiritual problems, they try to obtain all of these special gifts but they have no choice but to live life in wondering and being seized by Satan. If they continue to live their lives like this, then they will become spiritually destroyed. Then, what they must do? They have to enter into the correct and accurate gospel and prayer. These people all they want is this spiritual, passionate experience and always searching for this “experience” but what we have to be careful is that, yes, God may work through miracles but most of the time, those “experiences or miracles” are performed by Satan. God may work through miraculous, spiritual gifts and experiences but that is about only 1% of the time, which is really rare. So many people are being deceived by Satan and not able to experience what is true intervention from God really is. I know personally of pastors who state that they have these “spiritual experiences and gifts” but in the end, they have no choice but to suffer and be in constant wondering. What is absolute is that we must live our walk of faith within God’s grace and in the true gospel. The direction of our walk of faith needs to be towards the fulfillment of God’s Word. We have been continuing to listen to the gospel and what we have discovered is that we are entering into the fulfillment of God’s Word gradually within our lives. What is important is not whether you are alive or dead but what is important is if God’s Word is being fulfilled in your life. You may be weak and lacking but God is using your life to fulfill His covenant; and that is the greatest blessing within our walk of faith. Hold onto this. God is the God of His covenant. The reason why Apostle Paul experienced hardships was because he was inside of God’s covenant. God used Paul to fulfill His covenant through him. The spiritual battle is whether the covenant is being fulfilled in your life or not. We should be thankful to God and give praise to Him that we are able to use our lives to fulfill God’s covenant.
1. The Lord’s Plan for Paul
1) Jews’ plan:
Verses 12-15 - We read in today’s scripture together but the Jews conspired to kill Paul and they made an oath not to eat or drink anything for 40 days until they killed Paul. They spoke of this oath before the Pharisees and religious leaders, and asked them to help them to kill Paul because they thought this was what God wanted. So, the chief priests and leaders requested to the commander to have Paul brought before them to have further questioning done. And, the commander also wanted to know what Paul did wrong so the commander would bring Paul forth for further questioning but when the commander does, the Jews conspired to kill Paul then when he is brought before them. The Jews made an oath that even if they die trying to kill Paul, they will absolutely try to kill Paul even if they have to risk their own lives to do it. You can see from here that they had a perfect plan set up to kill Paul. Isn’t that astounding that 40 people came together to conspire to kill Paul? They were staking their lives to kill Paul, the evangelist. This was the plan of the Jews but what was the plan of God?
2) Jesus’ plan:
God knew that this was already going to happen so God came before Paul in Acts 23:11 (“But the following night the Lord stood by him and said, 'Be of good cheer, Paul; for as you have testified for Me in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness at Rome.' ”) - God already knew what would happen so God gave the sure and absolute covenant to Paul, and told Paul to go testify of Him in Rome as Paul did in Jerusalem. Look at this situation. After God spoke of this covenant to Paul, the Jews came together to conspire to kill Paul. You can see that things started getting worse for Paul. What does this mean? Satan hates when the Word of God is proclaimed so he was trying everything possible to block the gospel.
What kind of person was Paul? Before Paul came to Rome, he received the Word of God that he needed to go to Rome but he also knew that hardships will come to him. Acts 20:24 (“But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”) - For the sake of the gospel and for God’s covenant, he was willing to stake his life for it. He was determined to live for only the gospel and Christ. This was Paul’s spiritual battle. The Jews were planning to killing Paul for 40 days and staked their lives for it but Paul was determined to stake his life for the gospel. You can see that the spiritual battle arose for 40 people verse one individual. Who do you think would win? Do you think the 40 people won or the one person? But what is absolute is that the 40 people didn’t know that God was with that one person, Paul. No matter how weak and lacking we are because God is with us, there is nothing for us to worry about or have fear in. God already knows everything that will happen so that is why God prepared Paul’s nephew in this situation.
2. God’s Providence
1) Using Paul’s nephew:
Verses 16-22 - What the Jews didn’t know was that Paul’s nephew heard of their conspiracy so Paul’s nephew told Paul what was going to happen to him. This is what we call God’s intervention. When Paul heard of their conspiracy, Paul made sure that the commander would hear of this conspiracy of the Jews. The commander brought the nephew aside in privacy to hear what he had to say and at that moment, Paul’s nephew told the commander of the plan of the Jews to conspire to kill Paul. When the commander heard of this, he didn’t question the nephew’s statement but told the nephew not to tell anyone about this. This is so strange. This is how God works. The fact that the commander told the nephew not to tell anyone, this means that the commander made sure to keep this matter in mind and in sincerity without any questioning or speculation of doubt from the nephew. What is absolute is that God is with His children who possess the covenant. No matter what kind of field or circumstances that we are in, we are able to overcome all things because we possess the covenant. We can see God’s covenant being fulfilled.
Paul’s nephew heard of the conspiracy of the Jews and was this a mere coincidence? This was not a mere coincidence but God prepared Paul’s nephew to be there to hear of this plan.
2) God’s providence:
Verse 23 - When the commander heard the words of the nephew, we can see the response and action taken by the commander within this scripture. The commander to prepared all of this security to protect Paul. God used the commander to prepare all of this security of two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea to protect Paul. So, we can see that God used the authority of the commander to bring all of this security to protect Paul. You can’t just be an average individual to mobilize this large amount of army but because he was the commander, he was capable of bringing together this large amount of security to protect Paul.
We can see all of the meetings that Paul had in the past that brought him here, and through his journey, he was able to meet many government officials and even kings. Through all of these meetings, he was able to share the gospel to the government officials. Satan was trying to kill Paul but instead, God allowed Paul to be moved to stand before kings, the entire Roman army, and the commander to share and proclaim the gospel. If Paul was not placed in this hard situation, then he would’ve not been able to share the gospel to these many people. What we need to be aware of is that; answers are not what is important but everything is part of a process to fulfill God’s covenant.
Even though he was placed in prison, this was not a hardship for him but it was part of the process for God’s covenant to be fulfilled. Paul was able to share the gospel not only to the Jews and the entire Roman army but also to the commander. Not only that but he was able to stand before kings to share the gospel to them. We can see whoever Paul met, he was able to share the gospel that Jesus is the Christ.
3) Blessings for those in the covenant:
If we look at the content of what Paul spoke of, he was telling people that they are being deceived by Satan and for them to realize that their identity as sinners. Paul was telling the people to discover that they are bound by the fate and destiny of hell and what they must hold onto is Christ alone who solved all of these problems. Without Christ, they cannot be freed from the bondage of Satan. There is no way to come out of the fate and destiny of hell so that is why it is only through Christ that you can live. That is why Paul always testified of this Christ to whoever he met. We are also in the midst of this blessings.
Matthew 28:20 (“Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.”) - This God was not the God who was with Paul but this God is with us. If God saw Paul as precious then God sees us just as precious too. We are in the place of the greatest blessings. We spoke of this in the introduction that there are so many people who go to church but still don’t know the gospel. They are facing so many problems but don’t know to solve their problems. Just like the 40 people who tried to kill Paul, there is something in our lives that is blocking the true gospel from being imprinted in us. The 40 people thought that they were doing the right thing before God. There was a pastor that I met in Oklahoma who spoke in tongues and stated that he did everything to heal his depression but I told him to stop speaking in tongues and see if he is healed. He told me that after he stopped speaking in tongues, he felt better. He would spend endless days speaking in tongues and pleading to God to heal and help him.
3. The Blessing of Transmission
1) Change in imprint, root, and nature :
Just like how the 40 people were blinded and misunderstood God’s plan, Paul was also in a place in his life where he was wondering and went around killing Christians but after he met God, he was changed completely. This is the mystery. Meet God. What happened after Paul met God? After Paul met God, he confessed of Galatians 2:20 (“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”) - He completely laid himself before God. He realized that only Christ could heal him. He discarded everything and held onto only Christ, only the kingdom of God, and only by the power of the Holy Spirit. There are so many people who go around seeking for these passionate and special answers and experiences but within this age, we need to confirm the message of healing. There are so many people who are being misled in their walk of faith but the Bible speaks of more hardships and problems that will arise in this world in the future. The age of mental problems is arising in the world. The age of addiction and mental illness will continue to arise. We need to discover the method of healing.
2) The content of healing:
There are so many people who are being bound by spiritual traps, snares, and frames. There are people who can’t come out of the scars that they have received at church. It is so strange. There is nothing to boast about our scars but they are people who go around speaking of their scars. But this is how Satan deceives mankind and causing mankind to always be anxious and be in a state of misunderstanding. People have no sense of leisure, peace, and freedom in their lives. And, they are falling deeper and more into physical suffering in their lives. Then, how can we heal this?
We need to see the Biblical healing that took place in the Bible. It is Christ, the kingdom of God, and the Holy Spirit. I say this in the field but I tell people to not use any other method but hold onto only Christ. Jesus is the Christ, He is the True King who completely broke down Satan who has seized people into his snares, traps, and frames. And, this Christ is the True Priest who forgiven all of our fundamental sins. Hold onto this Christ. Hold onto the True Prophet who led mankind back to meet God once again. Pray with this Christ. Pray for this Christ to come into your heart sincerely. Then, the Holy Spirit will work.
I tell people to focus on the Word of God. Through the Word of God, whether it is transcription or memorizing the Word of God, spend time focusing on the Word. I tell people to write down the Word or whatever method to concentrate on the Word. If you are able to do this then you can go through the process of healing. Only Christ can heal and save you. It doesn’t matter what method you use but only through confession of faith and the power of the Word of God that can heal you. Jesus Christ absolutely told us in Matthew 11:28 (“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”) - Entrust all things to God and enter into His Word. This is the true method of healing that we must share with others and we must find true healing through the Word.
3) The blessings upon us:
We received the message regarding the 237 center that all children of God are spiritual doctors. We are all spiritual doctors because all nonbelievers are all spiritual patients. We must first help the spiritual patients to meet God and become a child of God. All fields are spiritual hospitals. This is so true. If we look at the world, all people are spiritually suffering and being spiritually deceived. People don’t even know that they are living a life of their spiritual bondage to hell, Satan, and curses but as spiritual doctors, we must heal them. How do we heal them? Through the gospel.
Luke 10:17 (“Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, 'Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.' ”) - With the faith that we possess regarding the name of Jesus Christ and also when we pray with that faith, then the forces of darkness has no choice but to flee.
<Conclusion>
Isaiah 41:10 (“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ ”) - When it says to not fear means that there may be situations where we may become fearful but God tells us not to fear because He is with us. God tells us not to be dismayed because there may be urgent situations where we may feel frightened and distressed but God tells us not be dismayed for He will strengthen us for He is our God. We who have the covenant, I truly believe that we will experience this God within our fields. May we experience this within the name of Jesus Christ this week.
