지렛대 신앙(행23:1-10)

서론

칼럼을 하나 읽었다. 캔사스에서 목회를 하던 한 목사님에 대한 이야기였다. 이 목사님은 아주 뛰어난 목사님이었다. 그런데 한 가지 문제가 있었는데 이 분이 맹인이었다. 목회를 잘 하시다 어느날 갑자기 자신이 볼 수 없다는 것에 대해서 불만이 생겨났다. 눈을 떴으면 더 좋은 일을 했을텐데 볼 수가 없어 불편한 일이 많다고 생각이 되었다. 이 목사님이 뉴욕으로 갔다. 뉴욕에는 화니 크로스비가 살았다. 찬송가도 많이 작사하고 유명하신 분이기 때문에 그 분은 어떨까 하고 만나러갔다. 그 분을 만나서 물었다. 당신은 눈이 보이지 않아서 불만스러운 것이 정말 없습니까? 그 때 크로스비는 대답을 했다. 네 저는 태어난지 6주만에 눈이 보이지 않게 되었습니다. 그런데 한 번도 불만스러운적이 없었습니다. 그 얘기를 듣고난 다음에 이 목사님이 자기가 불만을 갖고있는 것에 대해 크로스비에게 이야기했다. 주님께서 나에게 많은 은사를 베풀어주셨는데 시력은 왜 주시지 않았는지 모르겠다고 했다. 그 얘기를 듣던 크로스비는 내가 태어날 때 한 가지 청원을 할 수 있는게 있다면 내가 장님으로 태어날 수 있게 하달라는 것입니다 했다. 그 얘기를 들은 목사님은 깜짝 놀랐다. “왜냐하면 내가 제일 처음 눈을 떴을 때 내가 제일 먼저 보고 기쁘게 만날 사람이 예수님이기 때문입니다” 했다. 이 목사님이 크게 감동을 받았다. 인간적으로는 맹인이라는 심각한 문제를 갖고있는 사람이었다. 그러나 크로스비는 주님안에 있게되니까 전혀 문제될 것이 없었다. 오히려 문제 때문에 삶이 소망을 갖게되고 기쁨의 원동력이 되었다. 육적인 눈은 감겼지만 대신 영적인 눈이 활짝 열려 더 큰 축복을 누렸다. 이 크로스비는 복음의 능력안에 있었다. 이 땅에서 사는데 중요한 가치가 무엇인가를 알았던 사람이었다. 저는 옛날에 허일 목사님 교회에서 재정적으로 누군가가 몇십억을 갖고 도망가버린 사람이 었었다는 얘기를 들었다. 그 사건 때문에 많은 교인들이 나갔다. 그런데 그 교회가 어려움에 빠져있다는 이야기를 들은 임마누엘 교회 장로 한 분이 돈 15억을 만들어 헌금을 했다. 그래서 그 교회가 다시 힘을 얻어서 교회가 완공될 수 있었다. 자기 교회도 아닌데 교회가 무너진다는 얘기를 듣고 그냥 가서 도와줬다는 얘기를 듣고 하나님이 얼마나 기뻐하셨겠는가 했다. 곳곳에 보게되면 보이지 안지만 숨어서 하나님만 바라보면서 헌신하는 사람이 얼마나 많은지 모른다. 하나님께서 보시기에 아마 그 분들이 보석처럼 빛나는 분 들이 아닐까 한다. 우리가 사도바울을 보고있지만 사도바울도 참으로 빛나는 삶을 살고있다. 그런데 그 귀한 믿음이 그것으로 끝난 것이 아니라 지금도 곳곳에서 교회 안에 많은 분들이 숨어서 봉사하고 있다. 그것 때문에 하나님께서 기뻐하시고 한국을 쓰시는구나 하는 마음이 들었다. 이번에 한국에 임마누엘 교회 건물을 사는데 있어서도 어떤 두 분이 35억을 헌신했다고 한다. 집 팔고 전세로 들어가고 했는지는 몰라도 그런 헌신을 하면서 계약금을 치를 수 있도록 하나님께서 준비하셨다. 참 귀한 분들이다 하고 감동을 받았다. 금액이 문제가 아니다. 주님께서는 엽전 두돈 가진 과부를 칭찬하셨다. 그 마음이 중요하다. 자기의 모든 것을 바쳤느니라 하고 칭찬하셨다. 10센트도 안되는 돈이지만 그것으로 성경에 영원히 남는 믿음의 모습을 보여줬다. 우리 렘넌트들이 이런 사람들 되기 바란다. 누가 알아주느냐 알아주지 않느냐가 문제가 아니라 정말로 주님께서 기뻐하시는 것을 바라보면서 헌신하는 여러분되시기 바란다. 믿음의 렘넌트 일곱명을 보게되면 열악한 환경 가운데서 빛나는 한 두사람을 통해 하나님께서 큰 영광을 받으셨다. 저는 여러분들이 바로 그런 분들이라고 생각한다. 기도하면서 제 마음에 얼마나 감사했는지 모른다.

1. 3종류의 지도자들

1) 사두개인(대제사장 계급)

오늘 말씀에 세 종류의 종교 지도자들이 나온다. 대제사장에 속하는 사두개인들이 먼저 나타난다. 사두개인과 바리새인들이 사도바울 때문에 싸움이 일어났다. 사두개인이 누군가.

행 23:8 이는 사두개인은 부활도 없고 천사도 없고 영도 없다 하고 바리새인은 다 있다 함이라

부활도 믿지 않고 천사도 사단도 믿지 않고 성령도 부인하고 천국과 지옥도 믿지 않았다. 참 이상하다. 당시 최고 종교 지도자라고 하는 대제사장이 천국도 지옥도 믿지 않았다. 성령도 믿지 않고. 그런데 이 사람들이 이스라엘의 영적 지도자들이었다. 미래를 믿지 않으니까 현실을 만족하는 삶을 살았다. 그러니까 갖은 나쁜 짓을 다하면서 돈을 빼고 육신을 채우는 것이다. 지도자들이 이러니까 결국 이들의 잘못된 신학으로 인해 이스라엘 백성들이 2천년 동안 나라를 잃게 되었다. 또 이 사두개인과 싸웠던 바리새인들이 나타난다.

2) 바리새인(랍비계급)

사두개인과 다르게 이 사람들은 부활도 천사도 사단도 지옥도 다 믿는다. 그런데 이 사람들이 또 사도바울을 죽이려고 하고있다. 이 사람들의 문제가 무엇인가. 이 사람들은 예수님이 그리스도가 아니라는 것이다. 그들이 기다리는 그리스도, 메시야는 따로있다는 것이다. 성경을 보면 분명히 그들이 기다리는 그리스도가 나타나게 되면 전 세계를 정복하고 다스리고 이 땅에 낙원을 이루게되는 역사가 나타날 것이라는 것이다. 모세와 같은 자가 나타난다고 믿는다. 모세는 애굽이라는 한 나라를 꺾었지만 앞으로 나타날 메시야는 전 세계를 통일한다는 것이다.

사 60:20 다시는 네 해가 지지 아니하며 네 달이 물러가지 아니할 것은 여호와가 네 영원한 빛이 되고 네 슬픔의 날이 끝날 것임이라

그가 와서 통치하게 되면 모든 슬픔이 끝나고 낙원이 이루어진다는 것이다. 우리는 그를 기다린다는 것이다. 지금 유대인들이 기다리는 통치가 바로 그 통치자다. 다시는 슬픔이 없는 시대가 온다는 것이다. 삼단체에서 이야기하는 뉴에이지 사상과 똑같지 않은가. 새로운 세상, 새로운 정부를 만든다는 것이다.

3) 복음전도자(바울과 제자들)

세번째 인물이 복음가진 바울이다. 바울 뿐 아니라 초대교회 제자들, 사도들이 다 여기 속한다. 십자가에 돌아가신 예수님이 바로 그리스도였다고 주장한다. 예수님이 왜 돌아가셨는가. 그 오신 메시야는 이스라엘을 강한 나라로 만들기 위해 오신 것이 아니라 인간의 문제를 해결하기 위해서 오신 분이었다는 것이다. 인간의 타락으로 인해 모든 사람들이 사단의 종노릇, 죄와 사망의 종노릇, 지옥 배경 속에서 살아가고 있지 않느냐는 것이다. 메시야가 와서 세계를 통일한다고 하더라고 안간의 근본적인 문제는 해결되지 않는다. 진정한 해방은 뭔가. 사단으로 부터 해방시킬 참 왕이어야 한다는 것이다. 죄로 인해 이 땅에 사망이 들어왔는데 이 사망의 문제를 해결하실 분이 참 메시야라는 것이다. 천지를 창조하신 하나님을 만나게하는 이 분이 참 선지자라는 것이다. 그 분이 하나님께서 보내신 그리스도라는 것이다. 예수님이 바로 그 역할을 하시고 부활하셨다.

롬1:4 성결의 영으로는 죽은 자들 가운데서 부활하사 능력으로 하나님의 아들로 선포되셨으니 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도시니라

그가 하나님 아들이신 것을 선포하셨다는 것이다. 부활하셨다는 것은 죽음이 헤결되었다는 것이다. 사단에게서 해방되었다는 것이다. 바로 이것을 선포하는 것이 사도바울이었다. 우리가 모든 사람들이 사단이 역사하고있는 고통 가운데 빠져있다. 우리는 항상 이야기를 듣고있습니다만 사단의 12가지 전략을 항상 붙잡고 있었야한다.

2. 사단의 전략 12가지

1) 타락된 인간의 본능을 이용

저는 이것을 놓고 항상 기도하면서 이것을 해결하신 주님을 영광돌립니다 하고 기도를 한다. 이 12가지 중에서 첫번쩨 세가지가 창3, 6, 11 장이다. 이상하게 인간이 사단에게 속고난 다음에 창 3, 6, 11장이 인간의 본능으로 들어왔다는 것이다. 인간은 그 누구에게 배우지 않아도 내가 하나님처럼 되리라 하는 것을 본능적으로 갖고있다. 그리고 창 6장. 이는 그들이 육신이 됨이라 하고 얘기한다. 가르치지 않아도 쾌락, 만족, 육신을 위해 살아가도록 본능적으로 되어있다. 참 이상하다. 영상같은 것을 보게되면 이상하게 몸 자체가 열을 슬슬 받는 것을 볼 수 있다. 이것은 정말 누가 이렇게 본능이 생겼냐는 것이다. 누가 뭐라 그러면 분노가 끌어오르기 시작한다. 참지 못하게 된다. 내가 화가 난다는 것이다. 본능적으로 나타난다. 이게 사단이 주는 것이다. 이것으로 멸망시키고 있다. 분노, 혈기로 거의 다 실패한다. 이 땅에 사는 사람 모두가 자기 사는 목적이 성공을 위해서 산다. 내 이름을 내기 위해 산다. 어떻게 해서 이런가. 하나님이 우리를 창조하셨을 때는 하나님의 영광을 위해서 창조했는데 인간은 타락 이후에 내 이름을 내기 위해서 살아간다. 이 본능을 이용해서 사단이 자기의 손아귀에 집어넣는 것이다.

2) 타락된 세상을 이용

두번째는 사단이 세상을 이용해서 하나님의 축복을 누리지 못하게 한다. 행13, 16, 19이다. 바예수라는 거짓 선지자를 통해서 총독에게 영향을 미쳤다. 사단은 통치자를 통해서 신앙을 방해한다. 이번에 뉴스를 보니까 한국에 있는 지도자 대표되는 사람이 한국의 퀴어 축제, 동성애 축제를 축하합니다 하면서 메세지를 했다. 그 사람들도 분명히 그 동성애자들이 얼마나 고통받고 있고 흑암 가운데 있음을 알면서도 축하하고 있다. 사단이 시킨 것 아니겠는가. 정상적인 생각을 갖고있는 사람이라면 그런 얘기를 못한다. 16장을 보게되면 귀신들린 여종이 경제적인 이익을 주었다. 이 사단이 경제에 미치는 영향이 막강하다. 곳곳에 사단이 역사해서 경제를 통해서 교회도 못가게 만들고 신앙생활을 가로막는다. 행 19의 아데미 신상처럼 어마어마한 신상을 만들고 섬기게 만들고 문화로 만들고 제도로 만들고 구경도 오게 만들고 있다. 옛날에 한국에 가화만사성이다 하는 말이 있다. 가정이 화목하면 모든 일이 다 이루어진다는 것이다. 집안에 그런 말도 많이 붙혀놨었다. 그런데 그 가화만사성 때문에 교회에 나가지 못한 사람이 얼마나 많은지 모른다. 너 혼자 왜 예수를 믿어 가문에 불화를 일으키냐 하서 나가지 못한 사람들이 많다.

3) 타락된 인간의 운명을 이용

세번째로 사단이 타락된 인간의 운명을 이용한다. 영적문제, 정신문제, 육신문제, 내세문제를 일으키고 우상을 섬기게 만든다. 제가 지금 나가서 개인적으로 다락방 하는데가 두군데가 있는데 전부다 가문의 불신앙을 통해서 자식들이 어려움을 당하고 있다. 한 사람은 몇 개월동안 계속 하면서 말씀을 잘 받아들이고 있다. 그런데 다른 한 사람은 아직까지도 왔다갔다 하고 있다. 실질적으로 자손이 굉장히 어려움을 당하는지를 알긴 아는데도 복음안에 전혀 들어오지 못하고있다. 그런 것을 볼 때마다 지금 40일 작정기도 동안에 절대로 내 자신에게 있는 영적문제를 꺾고 가문의 영적문제를 완전히 꺾어야지만 나도 문제 해결되고 우리 후대도 문제가 해결된다. 그래서 지금 여태까지 기도하면서 기도하는 방법을 말씀드렸는데 그대로 하시면 응답받게 될 것이다.

3. 지렛대

1) 예수님 이름의 지렛대

우리가 지렛대 신앙을 가져야겠다. 우리 힘으로 도저히 불가능하니까 예수님의 이름이라는 지렛대를 사용하자는 것이다. 예수님 이름을 사용한다는 것은 예수님의 인격과 예수님 자체를 사용한다는 것이다.

요14:26 보혜사 곧 아버지께서 내 이름으로 보내실 성령 그가 너희에게 모든 것을 가르치고 내가 너희에게 말한 모든 것을 생각나게 하리라

기도하실 때 예수님 이름으로 기도해서 응답을 받지만 먼저 주님 앞에 기도하게 되면 주님께서 가르쳐주시는게 나타난다. 내가 네게 말한 모든 것을 생각나게 해주실 것이라고 한다. 기도하는 가운데 하나님 말씀이 생각난다는 것이다. 그 말씀이 하나님이 나에게 주시는 응답이다. 여러분들 기도할 때 이 말씀 놓고 기도하시라. 성령께서 나에게 가르치시고 생각나게 해주세요 기도하시라. 생각나면 그 말씀 붙들고 요 14:14 말씀을 믿고 기도하시라.

요14:14 내 이름으로 무엇이든지 내게 구하면 내가 행하리라

내 불신앙, 연약한 모든 것을 내놓고 주님 내가 연약합니다 주님께서 말씀하신대로 이루어게 해주세요 기도하시라. 그러면 틀림없이 빌 4:13의 확신이 오게될 것이다.

빌4:13 내게 능력 주시는 자 안에서 내가 모든 것을 할 수 있느니라

2) 복음의 지렛대

두번째는 복음의 지렛대를 붙잡아야한다. 바꾸는 것을 분명히 나를 바꾸는게 아니다. 나의 불가능한 것을 가능하게 하는 것은 복음의 능력밖에 없다. 복음의 능력이 무엇인가. 그리스도 하나님 나라 성령충만이다. 주님께서 다 이루셨다고 했지 않습니까 나에게 성취되게 하옵소서. 나에게 하나님 나라가 충만하게 하옵소서. 성령의 능력을 받아서 세상을 정복하게 하옵소서. 이것을 기도로 누리시면 된다. 24시 기도로 누리시면 된다. 우리가 기도를 하지 않게되면 아무리 복음을 많이 알아도 허사이다. 그러나 우리가 기도를 하게되면 모든 것을 얻게된다.

눅11:13 너희가 악할지라도 좋은 것을 자식에게 줄 줄 알거든 하물며 너희 하늘 아버지께서 구하는 자에게 성령을 주시지 않겠느냐 하시니라

한 두 번 말씀 드린게 아니다. 주님께서 약속하셨으니까 우리가 받아야겠다는 것이다. 하나님 말씀은 영원하다. 반드시 성취된다. 이 말씀이 나의 말씀이 되게 해주세요. 초대교회도 이것으로 응답받았다.

행10:45 베드로와 함께 온 할례 받은 신자들이 이방인들에게도 성령 부어 주심으로 말미암아 놀라니

고넬료가 성령충만 받은 사건이다. 고넬료는 하나님을 경외하는 사람으로서 기도하면서 구제에 힘썼다. 기도를 많이 했지만 복음을 몰랐던 사람이다. 그러나 그 기도로 인해 하나님이 베드로를 보내셔서 복음을 받게 하셨다. 베드로와 함께 온 할례받은 신자들이 이방인들에게도 성령을 부어주심으로 말미암아 놀랐다. 우리가 받았던 성령과 똑같은 성령을 이 사람들에게 주네 하고 놀란 것이다. 하나님은 은혜를 받고자 하는 자에게 주시는 것이다. 정말 이 복음을 붙들고 기도하시라.

3) 믿음의 지렛대

마지막으로 중요한 것이 믿음의 지렛대이다. 마 17장을 보면 변화산에서 예수님께서 하늘의 놀라운 영광스러운 모습을 보이시고 내려오신다. 그런데 밑에서 제자들은 간질병이 걸린 아이에게 예수님의 이름으로 열심히 기도하고 있었다. 그런데 아무리 기도를 해도 낫지를 않았다. 예수님이 뭐하고 있느냐 물으셨다. 이 아이가 아무리 기도해도 치유가 안됩니다 했다. 그 때 예수님께서 한심해서 하신 말씀이다.

마17:20 이르시되 너희 믿음이 작은 까닭이니라 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 만일 너희에게 믿음이 겨자씨 한 알 만큼만 있어도 이 산을 명하여 여기서 저기로 옮겨지라 하면 옮겨질 것이요 또 너희가 못할 것이 없으리라

예수님께서 간질병이 든 아이가 아무리 기도해서 낫지 않았던 이유가 너희 믿음이 작은 까닭이었다고 말씀하신다. 무슨 말인가. 믿음이 요만큼밖에 안된다는 것이다. 그러면 믿음이 크면 되고 작으면 안되는가. 한가지 이상한 것은 계속해서 하시는 말씀이 만일 너희에게 믿음이 겨자씨 한 알 만큼만 있어도 산을 옮길 것이라고 하신다. 믿음이 작은 까닭이어서 안된다고 하시는데 믿음이 겨자씨 만큼만 있었도 산을 옮긴다고 하신다. 예수님 제자들이 그럼 겨자씨만한 믿음도 안됬다는 것인가. 이것은 해석상에서 문제가 있었는데 원어를 보면 너희 불신앙 때문이니라고 나온다. 킹제임스 버전을 보면 unfaith라고 나온다. 불신앙 때문이라. 그러면 예수님 제자들이 여태까지 믿지 않았는가? 여기서 중요한 사실을 얘기하고 있다. 지금 예수님께서 지적하시는 믿음을 무엇을 얘기하냐면 간질병 들린 아이가 넘어져서 버둥대고 있다. 그것을 본 제자들이 마음에 이것은 내가 기도해도 안될거야 하는 마음이 있었던 것이다. 이 사람이 구원받지 못했다는 것이 아니라 사건을 보면서 안믿고 있다는 것이다. 모든 문제에서 응답받지 못하는 이유가 여기에 있다. 심각한 문제를 만나게 되었을 때 이건 안되겠는데 하면 안되는 것이다. 암에 걸린 환자가 아 이제 죽었구나 하면 죽는 것이다. 그러나 나 기도하면 되지 주님께서 계시니까 하면 사는 것이다. 그러니까 주님께서 만일 너희에게 믿음이 겨자씨 한 알 만큼만 있어도 산을 옮길 것이라고 하시는 것이다. 너희가 못할 것이 없다는 것이다. 우리가 아무리 힘든 문제를 만났다고 하더라도 주님께서 계시니까 할 수 있어 하게되면 산다는 것이다. 말은 주님께서 하시면 할 수 있지 하면서도 속으로는 주님도 안되 하게되면 안되는 것이다. 이 겨자씨 만한 믿음이 바로 생명이 있는 믿음이다. 여러분이 이 겨자씨만한 믿음, 정말로 복음적인 믿음을 갖게 되다면 인생이 바뀌게 될 줄로 믿는다. 생명있는 겨자씨만한 믿음만 있다면 절대 불가능이 절대 가능으로 바뀌게 될 줄로 믿는다. 응답받는 여러분 되시기 바란다.

결론

요15:7 너희가 내 안에 거하고 내 말이 너희 안에 거하면 무엇이든지 원하는 대로 구하라 그리하면 이루리라

이 겨자씨 만하지만 진짜 생명이 있는 믿음을 갖고 기도하시기 바란다. 주님께서 약속하셨다. 그리하면 이루리라. 응답받는 여러분 되시기 바란다. 말씀 붙들고 기도하겠다.

Scripture: “ 1 Then Paul, looking earnestly at the council, said, 'Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.' 2 And the high priest Ananias commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth. 3 Then Paul said to him, 'God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! For you sit to judge me according to the law, and do you command me to be struck contrary to the law?' 4 And those who stood by said, 'Do you revile God’s high priest?' 5 Then Paul said, 'I did not know, brethren, that he was the high priest; for it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’ ' 6 But when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, 'Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!' 7 And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees; and the assembly was divided. 8 For Sadducees say that there is no resurrection—and no angel or spirit; but the Pharisees confess both. 9 Then there arose a loud outcry. And the scribes of the Pharisees’ party arose and protested, saying, 'We find no evil in this man; but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.' 10 Now when there arose a great dissension, the commander, fearing lest Paul might be pulled to pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them, and bring him into the barracks. ”

I read a news article and it was about a pastor who had his pastoral ministry in the region of Kansas. He was a great pastor but there was one problem, he was blind. He was doing his pastoral ministry very well but started complaining about his disability of being blind. Therefore, one day this pastor went to New York and met with a very famous composer, Fanny Crosby who was also blind. When he met her, he asked her a question, “You are blind but do you not have any complaints regarding that?” Crosby responded, “I have been blind since 6 weeks of my birth and I never complained that I was blind.” After hearing Crosby’s response, the pastor started saying the complaints of being blind to her. “God has given me many great things in my life but God has not given me sight. Why did God not give me my sight?” This was what the pastor complained to Crosby. When Crosby heard this, this was what she responded, “If I would to be reborn again, I would pray that God would allow me to born blind.” The pastor was so surprised to hear this and asked her why. Crosby responded, “When I am to finally open my eyes and see, the first person I would be so happy to see and meet is Jesus Christ in heaven so Jesus Christ is the first person I would want to see.” When the pastor heard this, the pastor was so touched. There are so many people in this world who are disabled but for Crosby, being blind was not a disability for her but rather a great advantage and strength for her. Even though her physical eyes were dimmed, her spiritual eyes were more widened and she was able to deepened her relationship with God. She was able to live enjoying the tremendous spiritual power and was able to really understand what the true value in life was. Long time ago, at Pastor Heo’s church, someone stole a tremendous amount of money from the church’s treasury and because of that incident, many people and elders left that church. In the midst of that great difficult, an elder at Seoul Immanuel Church heard this and gave an offering of 1.5 million dollars by selling everything that he had to the church. That church was able to gain strength again and everything was restored. I realized that there are people like this elder that even though it wasn’t his own home church, he gave up everything and saved that church. I am sure God was truly happy and glorified through that. Even though we may not see this more visibly but there are many people who devote themselves for God and the church. I am sure God sees them as precious and hidden jewels within this world. Apostle Paul was living a very precious and shining life before God. But, this did not end with Paul but there are many people who are continuing to serve and devote for the church and for the work of God. Because of that, I am sure God is truly happy and continuing to use the country, South Korea to do world evangelism. I talked about the elder at Seoul Immanuel Church who gave that generous amount of offering but also in Korea, there were trying to build a church building in Seoul and two people sold everything, and gave an offering of 2.5 million dollars to the church and the construction of it. These are such precious beings and I was so touched to hear these kinds of stories. But that is not the main point here but in the Bible we see that Jesus Christ complemented a widow who gave her life savings of two copper coins, which was worth of only a few cents as her offering before Him. What is important is your heart. These people truly devoted and gave up everything that they had. Even though it wasn’t much in money, it was just two coins but that was everything that she had and Jesus praised her for that. I pray that our remnants will have this kind of mindset and heart. It doesn’t matter if someone acknowledges you but may you look towards God alone when you serve and devote for His work. When you look at the faith of the 7 remnants, through them, God was glorified even despite their hard circumstances. I truly believe our church members and remnants are like this. I had no choice but to give a thanksgiving prayer to God. When we look at today’s scriptures, it talked about three types of leaders. The first type of leaders were the high priests, the Sadducees.

1. Three Types of Leaders

1) Sadducees (high priests):

Verse 8 - There was a fight that occurred between the high priests and the pharisees. The Sadducees did not believe in heaven, hell, angels, or Satan, nor the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is quite strange. They were known as the greatest religious leaders, the high priests but they did not believe in heaven or hell. They didn’t even believe in the Holy Spirit even though they were known as the greatest spiritual leaders in the temple. Since they didn’t believe in the spiritual future, heaven or hell, their understanding of life was to live according to the greatest each day so they spent their entire lives trying to gather the greatest amounts of profits and money. Since their mindsets and lives were so corrupt, for 2,000 years, they completely destroyed the state of the temple and nations.

2) Pharisees (rabbis):

Verse 9 - They were different from the Sadducees because they believed in heaven, hell, angels, Satan, and the resurrection but they were after Paul to kill him. What were the promises of the Pharisees? They believed in everything but they did not believe Jesus as the Christ. They were still waiting for their Messiah to come. They believed that when their promised Messiah would come, then their nation of Israel would be uplifted and power will be given back to them. They were waiting for a Messiah like Moses. Even though Moses overcame the land of Egypt, the Pharisees were waiting for a Messiah that would overcome the whole world, and restore the whole land of Israel.

Isaiah 60:20 (“Your sun shall no longer go down, Nor shall your moon withdraw itself; For the Lord will be your everlasting light, And the days of your mourning shall be ended.”) - The Pharisees and the Jews believed that once the end of the days come, then everything is restored for them and their nation will be restored. They were waiting for this day. The Jews are still waiting for are their promised Messiah. They think that their promised Messiah would get rid of their sadness and pain but this is no different from the ideology of the New Age Movement. They are both waiting for the New Age, a world like Utopia.

3) Gospel evangelists (Paul and disciples):

The third type of leaders are like the leaders like Apostle Paul and the Early Church members. They believed in Jesus as the Christ who is the true Messiah who died on the cross. Why did He die on the cross? He did not die to make Israel a great nation but to save all mankind from death and solve the sins of man. The corrupted world fell into the captivity of sin, Satan, and hell but Jesus Christ came to solve the fundamental problems of mankind. Even if a true leader was raised up in this world, he/she could not solve the fundamental problems of mankind. Only Christ as the true Messiah as the True King would break us completely from the powers of Satan. The complete destruction that came from sin on this world, Christ as the True Priest solved us from this. Christ as the True Prophet would solve us completely from our fundamental problems. This was the Christ that God has sent us. This Jesus is the Christ. This Christ has resurrected.

What does it mean that He has resurrected? He resurrected for the reason as seen in Romans 1:4 (“And declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.”) - The fact that He has resurrected, this means that He solved the problem of death. He is proclaiming that He has overcome the powers of death and Satan. This was what Apostle Paul was proclaiming.

There are so many people who are suffering in this world and we need to be aware of the 12 strategies of Satan. When I pray, I am praying to break down the 12 strategies of Satan, and praying that God would be glorified. The first one of the 12 strategies is Genesis 3, 6, and 11.

2. Twelve Strategies of Satan

1) Using corrupt human instincts:

Genesis 3, 6, 11 - Strangely after the corruption and fall of mankind, all mankind fell into Genesis 3, 6, and 11 by nature. Why did all mankind fall into his when they were not taught this before they were born? No one tells you that you are the greatest but when we are born, this is the only thing that matters to us. No one taught you but you are so busy trying to live for success and making your name the greatest in this world. This is so strange. When people watch strange videos, their whole bodies and minds are completely seized the ideologies of Genesis 3, 6, and 11. Who made mankind have this kind of mindset and imprints from birth? When someone says something mean or bad to you, you get so angry and you can’t control your anger. This just comes out of you naturally. These are the strategies of Satan to destroy mankind. Because of your wrong and incorrect imprints and mindsets, it has bought you much difficulties. All mankind on this world live for their own success and wellbeing. When God created mankind, He created us so that we can give glory to Him but we are living for our own name sake. But this is how Satan uses this method to destroy mankind.

2) Using the corrupt world:

Satan uses the world to prevent mankind from enjoying the blessings that God has prepared for us. That is Acts 13, 16, 19 - If we look in Acts 13, there was a false prophet, Bar-Jesus who tried to influence the proconsul. When you look at the world, Satan uses rulers and political leaders to block the Christian walk of faith. Also, when we looked at the news, a prominent representative leader in Korea gave a congratulatory speech to his brother, celebrating his same-sex marriage. I am sure this prominent leader was fully aware of the suffering and life of hell that his brother was living in but yet was still yet sitting there congratulating his brother. This is the work and errand of Satan. A true person of God would not do that.

Acts 16 - This slave girl who was demon possessed but had given much great profits to her masters. Satan has control over the finances of this world and preventing people and church members from attending church, and causing them not to participate in their walk of faith.

Acts 19 - The people of Ephesus made these great idols and forced people to worship these idols, and made them fall away from God. Long time ago, there was a saying in Korea that if your family is happy and reconciled then everything will be granted to you. So many families would post this saying on their homes but because of that mentality, this prevented families from attending church. Family members would criticize a family member who would attend church and criticize them for destroying and breaking apart the family. The strategy that Satan uses is inflicting people and this world with spiritual problems and the six states of nonbelievers.

3) Using the corrupt fate of man:

6 states of nonbelievers - There are two people that I personally ministered to but both of these individuals face problems in their family due to their generational and descendent problems. For several months now, I have been able to minister to one of them and he is listening and accepting it very well. But the other person is not responding very well and keeps going back and forth. Even though his children are having a hard time and he is aware of that, but he is unable to enter into the gospel fully. Whenever I see that, I realized that through this 40-day prayer challenge, we need to break down the spiritual problems within ourselves first and our family then we can solve the problems of our next generation and family line. I have been speaking to you regarding the method of prayer and if you keep praying this way, then your problems will absolutely be solved. That is why I am telling you that we need to have the faith of the leverage.

3. Leverage

1) The leverage of the name of Jesus:

With our own strength, it is impossible so we need to use the name of Jesus Christ to solve our problems. If we are able to use the name of Jesus Christ, this means that we are able to use the authority and power of the name of Jesus Christ. This is what it means to use Jesus as your leverage.

John 14:26 (“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”) - When you pray in the name of Jesus Christ then you can experience Jesus Christ teaching you. It said in this Bible verse that God will allow you to remember. When you pray, you are not waiting to hear God’s voice but what is more important is that when you pray, you are able to remember God’s Word. When you are able to remember God’s Word then you can receive the correct answers. Pray with this. The Holy Spirit will teach you all things and will bring to your remembrance. Pray this way that the Holy Spirit will teach you and help you bring remembrance of God’s Word.

When you remember God’s Word, then hold onto and have faith in John 14:14 (“If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”) and pray with this. Discard all of your weaknesses before God and ask Him for help then Jesus promised that if you ask anything in His name, then He said that He will do it. Ask God to do it through you because you are weak and lacking. Then, absolutely what is promised in Philippians 4:13 (“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”) will be fulfilled in your life.

2) The leverage of the gospel:

The key thing is that you cannot change yourself with your own strength but the only thing that can change the impossibility to possibility is through the gospel. What is the power of the gospel? It is Jesus Christ, the kingdom of God, and the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:1, 3, and 8). Then, it is really simple, right? Jesus Christ said that He finished everything on the cross. Then, ask God to fulfill His promises through you. Pray for the kingdom of God to be manifested in your life and the power of the Holy Spirit to upon you to save and overcome this world. Enjoy this within prayer. If you don’t pray even though you know the gospel then it means nothing. But if you truly pray then you can gain all things.

What is absolute is what is written in Luke 11:13 (“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”) - I didn’t mention this Bible verse just once but Jesus promised this so we must receive it. God said His Word is eternal and promised that His Word will be fulfilled then this Word must become your word in your life. This was how the Early Church received answers.

Acts 10:45 (“And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.”) - In this scripture, Cornelius received the filling of the Holy Spirit. He was a person who feared God and prayed diligently but didn’t know the gospel but through his prayers, God answered him by sending him Peter. This Biblical scripture was the answer to Cornelius’ prayer.

The disciples were so astonished because the Holy Spirit was poured upon the Gentiles. The same Holy Spirit that was given to the disciples, that same Holy Spirit was given to the Gentiles as well. This was such an astounding event. Those asked for the grace of God, God’s grace came upon them. May you receive answers. We need to receive answers.

3) The leverage of faith:

Matthew 17:20 (“So Jesus said to them, 'Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.' ”) - If you look in this Bible scripture, Jesus Christ showed His glorious being on the Mount of Transfiguration. But on their way back from the mountain, His disciples were praying for a girl who was suffering from epilepsy to be healed but they couldn’t heal her no matter how much they prayed. Jesus Christ asked what the disciples were doing and the disciples replied that they were praying but the girl was not being healed. Jesus Christ looking at them with pity and frustration, answered them with Matthew 17:20.

The reason why the girl was not healed even though they were praying so much was because of their small amount of faith*. What does it mean by their small amount of faith*? That means that you have very little faith then does it mean that there are variety of sizes in faith? So, even with small amount of faith*, you can’t allow God to work? But what is strange here is what Jesus continued to say in the scripture. He said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, [then you can move mountains].” Then, what does this mean? Jesus Christ said the problem was due to their small amount of faith*, which is having little faith but then Jesus Christ said to have faith as small as a mustard seed. What does this mean? What is Jesus Christ trying to tell His disciples?

I think that there was an error in translation of the Bible (Korean Bible), for it says in the original text, “Due to your unbelief…”. If you look in the KJV, it says, “unbelief”. It was due to their unbelief. Then, does this mean that the disciples of Christ go around with no faith at all? There is an important truth here. The “faith” that disciples were using to heal this girl who was suffering from epilepsy was not true faith because when the disciples saw her and looked at her state, they knew that they couldn’t heal her. It didn’t mean hat they didn’t believe in God but they didn’t have any faith. The reason why you can’t receive answers is because of your lack of faith.The moment problems arises, you are already having a thought of disbelief and no faith. If cancer comes to you and you say that you are dead, then you are already dead but when cancer comes and you confess that you should pray, then you are saved. That is why Jesus said that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed then we can move mountains, and nothing will be impossible if you just have faith. No matter how big and difficult problems are, if you just believe in God then it is possible. Then, you won’t be able to say that even God cannot solve this problem. Having faith as small as mustard seed is having the faith of life. If you just have faith as small as a mustard seed, then this absolute faith will completely change your life. If you just have this small mustard seed of faith, a faith of life then what is impossible will be changed into the possible.

Small amount of faith* (For Matthew 17:20 - In Korean translation, it is written, “…small amount of faith” while the KJV translation writes, “unbelief”).

<Conclusion>

Hold onto John 15:7 (“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”) - Pray with this faith of a mustard seed and faith of life. Jesus Christ promised that if you do this then it will be done for you. May you receive answers in the name of Jesus Christ.
