The Ministry of the Triune God (Ephesians 3:1-6)
Rev. Myung-Sin Choi
“1For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles— 2 if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, 3 how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, 4 by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), 5 which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: 6 that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel.”
Introduction
Right now, we have been doing the prayer for the 7 journeys. The beginning of the prayer starts with the triune God. We must hold onto this and start. If we know the work of the Triune God, then we can assurance of prayer and have the correct prayer. First, we must always hold onto the background of the Triune God and the background is a spiritual world. Where did this begin? It started with the Triune God. God with the background of the Triune God has continued to guide us and is leading us towards the plan of God. Our remnants, we must be assured of this. The triune God is still at work and alive and is working within our lives. The almighty God, God the Father, is continuing to preach the gospel to us. God, Jesus Christ is breaking down the forces of sin and darkness and is fulfilling the works of redemption even now. God, the Spirit, is blessing us with the word of God and authority and is within us as the temple of God. God guides us so that we can become the summit and have our summit time daily. God the Father is proclaiming the word of God and fulfilling His word. Then, what is He fulfilling and proclaiming?
God’s plan. Ephesians 1:3-6 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.” - All of God’s plan and goal is written here. Ephesians 1:3 - The world may seem grand and great, but the greatest blessing of all blessings is the spiritual blessing. God wants to give us all the blessings in His Son, Jesus. All the spiritual blessings, status, glory, and authority that is within Jesus, God wants to give us all of that. Remember that. The reason why God chose us and blessed us as His children was so that He can bless us.
Ephesians 1:4 - Before creation, it was already written. It was already all decided. It was not a coincidence that you were born and became a child of God. It was already all decided before we were created. God knew of us before we were born. This is so important. If we remember this, then there is no need for us to be shaken. Inside of love, God wants to make us righteous and holy. Before we were born, we were in the midst of corruption and Satan’s authority, but God cleansed us and chose us to become blameless and holy. God’s plan is for us to become holy and blameless.
Ephesians 1:5 - When we heard the gospel, we became children of God, which was part of God’s plan. It was already pre-planned. By Jesus Christ, we became children of God. It was already decided before creation and we became children of God through the blood of Jesus.
Ephesians 1:6 - What is the reason? God chose us through His grace. We received it all through the grace of God. We didn’t have to make conditions to become children of God. This was already all part of God’s plan. God just wants to give thanksgiving and praise for His salvation for unconditional grace. We must hold onto this.
John 14:31 “But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.” - We know all of God’s plan. Just like how God spoken, Jesus came to Earth. Jesus followed God’s command. The reason why Jesus died on the cross was to fulfill what God had spoken. What is this? It was to fulfill Ephesians 1:3-6.
John 8:28 “Then Jesus said to them, 'When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.' ” - Jesus spoke to many people regarding the scriptures. He only spoke of God’s word. What did God want Jesus to relay? It was Ephesians 1:3-6. God our Father is continuing to fulfill His word.
God is containing to fulfill His word accurately and Jesus was the one who fulfilled that when He came to Earth. That is mentioned in Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” In order to fulfill God’s word and to save mankind, and to make mankind sinless, Jesus came to Earth and died on the cross.
Hebrews 10:10-12 “By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God.” - This is amazing. After Jesus died on the cross, what happened next? We became holy and blameless. This means Mark 10:45 was fulfilled. In order to make us holy and blameless, Jesus died on the cross as seen in Ephesians 1:3-6. We should be holy and blameless. Do you believe that you have been made holy? You have been made holy the moment you accept Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 10:12 - The Old Testament would perform blood sacrifices every time you sinned. But for Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice to take care all our sins. The priests in the Old Testament had to die every time when mankind sinned but Jesus the true Priest will never die. He gave His body as the ultimate sacrifice and is sitting at the right side of God’s throne.
Hebrews 7:24-25 “But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” - Once He is the priest, He is the eternal priest. He is the one who took our sins, He is unchangeable, and our sins are solved forever. We should be thankful. We received salvation through Jesus and He will be with us forever. Whoever goes before Jesus, He will accept them. There may be times when we make mistakes and commit sins, and when we repent before God, the Lord Jesus promised that He will make an intercession for us. When we commit sins, Jesus will present our sins before God and ask for forgiveness.
Colossians 1:13 “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.” - This is our status. We have been moved from the status as a child of Satan to a child of God. We possess the citizenship of heaven.
Romans 8:34 “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” - Even now, Jesus continues to intercede for us so that we can become world evangelists. Whenever we are in hardships, Jesus continues to intercede for us before God and prays for us. Be victorious.
God, the Spirit, the Holy Spirit. The status that we must enjoy. John 14:26-27 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” - If we just hold onto this, there is nothing for us to worry about. God has sent us the Spirit but how did God send us the Holy Spirit to help us? God sent us the Holy Spirit in His name. We received the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. We cannot receive Holy Spirit outside of Christ. We can only receive Holy Spirit in the faith of Christ. We must believe in Christ and the salvation of Christ to receive the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit is upon us, He will remind us of the word of God. If something happens and we remember the word, then we are taken care. God created the world with the word of God. Whenever the word of God works, the Spirit also works. The evidence that you have the Holy Spirit, you have peace. The people of this world don’t know about this peace. They only live for pleasure and temporary pleasure. That doesn’t last. They are only left with misery and torment. No matter what happens, there is no need for us to worry and be anxious because we possess the peace in Christ and our citizenship is in heaven.
Ephesians 1:13 “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.” - All things start with the word of God. The Holy Spirit works the moment we believe. If the Holy Spirit is in you, then He will remind us of God’s word. When we hear God’s word, we are sealed with the Spirit of God. We will receive strength, be filled with the Holy Spirit as well as the power of the Holy Spirit will be upon us. We must be filled with the word of God. It is by the power of the word of God that the world was created.
Genesis 1:1-3 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3 Then God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light.” - The Spirit was upon the waters. Where the word is at work, the Spirit is also at work. The Holy Spirit is at work when we have forum. With the word, we can break down all darkness.
Romans 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” - There are times when we can’t obey God’s word and the Holy Spirit may be grieves if we do this. The Holy Spirit will constantly remind us of and gives us signals to help us return to the word. God knows we are weak, and we think a lot of things. What we need the most is the prayer of the Holy Spirit. If we just believe and pray, then healing will come upon us. Why does this happen?
Conclusion
Acts 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” - God’s desire is Acts 1:8. Where the word is, the Holy Spirit is at. If we hold onto the word and pray, then the Spirit will work. Power and authority will be revealed to us. We will receive evidence till the ends of the Earth. May you be blessed. Discover the blessing and mystery of the Triune God and pray with this mystery.
