"The Tragedy of Governor Felix" (Acts 24:22-25)

Scripture: “ 22 But when Felix heard these things, having more accurate knowledge of the Way, he adjourned the proceedings and said, 'When Lysias the commander comes down, I will make a decision on your case.' 23 So he commanded the centurion to keep Paul and to let him have liberty, and told him not to forbid any of his friends to provide for or visit him. 24 And after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. 25 Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, 'Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.' ”
<Introduction>
I believe that as you continue to hold onto and pray with the pulpit message, you will receive and are receiving answers. I am also holding onto the pulpit message and praying, I can see that God is giving me answers in the field. For an example, in the previous weeks God gave us the message regarding the spiritual warfare of disciples. Right now, we are in the age of mental illness, physical diseases, and addiction and that is why we must take the gospel and heal this world. While holding onto this message, I met someone in the field and this person told me all of his problems in his life. I was able to see that God attached this person to me so that I can give this person an answer. He was suffering from many mental and physical problems in his life. I told him to meet with me at least once a week and now, I am continuing to have Bible study with this person. Last week, we talked about the message regarding enjoyment of being a spiritual summit and within this message, we discussed regarding a shaman who converted into Christianity and accepted Christ. This shaman’s son was the famous doctor Nak Jun Baek. When I heard this message, I realized the importance of sharing the gospel to shamans and I heard from our elder that there was a shaman in Dallas who was walking on knives. When I heard this, I realized that I needed to meet this shaman so I made a phone call to her and I told her that I wanted to meet with her. In order to meet her, I had to pay her $100 and I kept on debating if I should pay that much to meet with her but I read the prayer journal message for Thursday and it was about the age of the golden field, blind zones, and disaster zones. After I read this message, I realized that God wants me to go. I made a resolution within my heart that whether or not this shaman accepts the gospel or not, I need to go share the gospel to this shaman that is within the disaster zone. This shaman was a newly shaman since she received an evil spirit for only two years and 2 months now. Let us look at the pictures of the shaman. This is the shaman posing for the camera. This is the picture of the ritual that the shaman performs very morning, she reads her chants and prayers. And, lastly this is the picture of the knifes and blades that the shaman walked on. Then, this shaman asked me why I am visiting her and I told her I was a pastor, and she told me that I looked like a pastor. I told her I wanted to ask her a few questions and after I gave her money, she opened up her heart. I told her since I am here as a pastor that I wanted to share the gospel to her and to give me five minutes of her time, and she agreed. The moment I gave her the gospel message, her face started darkened up. I told her that she if she accepted Christ and believed in Him, then the spirit of God will enter into her. She asked me if I was evangelizing to her and then rejected saying she could not betray the spirits that were in her and we separated our ways from there. After I left there, I sincerely prayed to God and asked God to pity this soul of hers. She doesn’t know what she is doing and evil spirits are destroying her so please have mercy on her. Just like how the shaman from last week’s message received the gospel and ended up saving her children, I prayed that she may receive the same answer. But this shaman did not accept Christ and I told her that I will come again later. She told me to call her anytime. It is so precious to share the gospel wherever we go. Whether one person lives or dies, this depends on whether or not we share the gospel. Paul was someone who went to prison for sharing the gospel and we can see continuously within the Bible that God was with Paul wherever he went. Last week we saw in the scriptures that Paul was in the brink of death as he stood trial before the governor but Paul made an argument for himself as we see in the scriptures today. After Paul depended himself, Felix came before him and made a final judgment. The final judgment that the governor, Felix made was that Paul was acquitted for his “crimes” that was placed on him.
1. Felix's Ruling
1) Acquittal:
Verses 22-23 - In these verses, it said that governor Felix had more “accurate knowledge of the Way…” Felix already researched about Christianity and came to a conclusion regarding his viewpoint of Christianity and Paul’s trial. Continuing on in the scripture, Felix said that he will make the official statement regarding the case when commander Lysias comes down and demands all people to leave the court. Lysias already claimed that Paul was innocent as seen in Acts 23:29* and the fact that Felix was going to talk to Lysias first, this meant that Felix was going to agree with Lysias’ conclusion regarding Paul. In the continued scripture, Felix commanded the centurion to keep Paul but gave him liberty within the place. This was all part of God’s grace. This was because Felix knew that if Paul was released back and freed, then he could be beaten to death by the high priests. Because as we read in the past few scriptures, there were 40 people who made an oath to not eat or drink until they killed Paul so Felix made sure that Paul was not released yet but stayed inside hidden for a while after his court case.
*Acts 23:29 (“I found out that he was accused concerning questions of their law, but had nothing charged against him deserving of death or chains.”).
2) Paul's continual ministry:
Verse 23 - In this verse, we can see that Felix gave Paul complete liberty and even allowed his friends to come visit him as well. We can see that God allowed Paul to continue to do the evangelism movement even within these circumstances. The first person that God allowed Paul to share the gospel after his capture was governor Felix and his wife, Drusilla as seen in verse 24. She was also Jewish. Drusilla was the daughter of Herod Agrippa. But this woman was very interested in Christianity and wanted to hear what Paul had to say, and told this interest to her husband, Felix.
Verse 25 - Whenever Paul spoke, he always spoke that Jesus was the Christ but what he preached this time was different. He spoke of three things - righteousness, self-control, and judgment. This meant that Paul was telling them that they were living a wrong life so they must repent before God and live an upright life before Him. The background history of governor Felix is too long to explain but Drusilla was actually a former wife of someone else but she was taken away as the wife of Felix. In history, it was recorded that Drusilla was very beautiful and Felix used a sorcerer to lie to Drusilla that her fate was to marry Felix or else she will face an awful fortune. Paul knew of this deception of Felix so that is why he spoke of God’s judgment before Felix and Drusilla. When I read this, I realized how bold Paul was. Even though Paul was standing in trial before Felix, he should be watching his words before him but instead he was being very straight forward to him. Paul was preaching the gospel very boldly before them. When you see in the scriptures, even though Felix heard the gospel, he still didn’t accept Christ. Drusilla was interested in hearing the gospel so that is why she purposely called Paul to them to hear but the problem was that, they couldn’t kneel completely before the gospel.
Verses 24-25 - When Paul shared the gospel to them, Felix became afraid. He was afraid of the judgment of God and this meant that he knew that God was and is alive. He felt that God was alive but despite that, he couldn’t make a resolution to accept Christ.
2. Felix's Tragedy
1) Faith that does not lead to salvation:
This Biblical scripture explains it very well in James 2:19-20 (“You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?”) - The most important thing within our walk of faith is having fear of God. That is why we need to always speak and act as if we are before God, which is Coram Deo. We are living a life before God, acknowledging and fearing God’s presence and existence. But even acknowledging God’s existence, that was not enough for governor Felix. Even demons tremble before God and faith without works is dead. We need to have a resolution within our faith. We need to resolve within our faith earnestly and sincerely. You say that you believe in God but you do whatever you want and continue to Iive the life you did before you believed. Governor Felix received the gospel from the greatest evangelist, Paul during that time but he still couldn’t receive the gospel wholeheartedly.
2) The faith of absolute disciples
What is absolute faith then? It is Galatians 2:20. Galatians 2:20 (“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”) - It is living a life where you entrust all things before God. All of your desires, thoughts, standards, and your entire life you lay all of that down before God. Denying yourself before the cross means that you lay everything down before the cross and die within Christ. You are entrusting all things to Christ, die on the cross with Him, and are buried with Him. Dying on the cross with Christ, this means that you, yourself have entirely died on the cross. This means that you are no longer alive; your thoughts and life and your old life is no longer existent. You are completely discarding and killing your old frames, your own self, and thoughts entirely before Christ. That is why just like in Galatians 2:20, we are living inside the faith of God who loved us and died for us. Your entire life is showing the presence of Christ who lives in you. Your life is not where you are living but Christ is living through you. Think about this and meditate on it within deep prayer. This is what I meditate on when I have my time of deep prayer in the morning. I pray to God that I want to entrust all things to Him and want to continue to live my life for Him alone. May you be victorious.
After meeting with the shaman, I realized that this is how many Christians live their lives. When I met with her, I made sure to ask three questions to her specifically. I asked her questions regarding her family background and also if she is not afraid when she dances onto blades and knives? The last question that I asked her were who are the general people who visit her.
3. The Faith of the Religious
1) The problem of the family line:
When I visited the shaman, I held onto the message of Ezekiel 3:18 (“When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.”) - If I don’t share the gospel to her, what would happen to me? This shaman was 49 years old and she was the mother of one son and one daughter, and she is also divorced. Her mother is an elder deaconess of a church but her siblings know that she is a shaman but her mother is the only one who is not aware of this. Her mother-in-law was a shaman but when I heard this, many thoughts came into my head. When our remnants get married, you need to look at the husband’s family background very well. The shaman’s mother was an elder deaconess but her mother-in-law was a shaman. The evil spirit of the mother-in-law entered into her. Remnants, be very careful when you marry someone. This shaman attended church at a very young age and even attended a church in Dallas, and she opened up a beauty salon but no matter what she did, nothing worked out and no one could give her an answer. Even the church couldn’t give her an answer and she wondered why nothing worked out in her life. One day, something happened and she lost everything which led her into developing severe spiritual problem in her life but no one could tell her this. She was so frustrated that she called a close friend in Korea and her friend recommended her to contact a famous shaman. She called the shaman and she said she received a message that she needed. This shaman told her that she was born to become a shaman so she realized nothing worked out in her life because she wasn’t doing the work of a shaman. That was when she resolved to become a shaman. Then, she continued to say that she became a shaman so that she can carry all of the burden of her children for them. When I heard this, I thought this was so unfortunate because more severe problems will come to her children.
2) The faith of a sorcerer:
In 2017, she received the evil spirit and after she received this spirit, she started walking on blades and knives. She said that her “spiritual” mother, mentor was a very famous shaman who also walked on knives and blades. Therefore, she resolved to walk on blades so she came to Dallas and started walking on blades. I asked her where she got the blades from and she told me that she made her own blades, and she would test the sharpness of the blades by putting clothes and paper on them, and the moment they touched the blades, it would rip immediately. After that, she would ride on these blades and I asked her if she was afraid walking on them but she told me that her mother-in-law told her to lay everything down and entrust all things to her spirit. These are the same words written in the Bible but she was told to entrust all things to the evil spirit and to believe in it. Then, she told me after she entrusted all things to her “spirit”, she gained this confidence and courage, and yelled out she could do it. I guess there were power behind those words because after that, she was able to walk on the blades. Shamans always say they are careful what they say because there are power behind words. The shamans are using the same words written in the Bible but in complete different ways.
James 3:5 (“Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!”) - This shaman believed that whatever she said would take place. The moment she stepped on the blades, I asked her how she felt but she said she couldn’t feel anything waist down. Since she couldn’t feel anything, she started dancing and after she got down from the blades, her feet were perfectly fine. She told me that she was someone who experienced the power of the spirit. This is the power of evil spirits being shown to this shaman. I also asked her who were the people who generally visited her and I asked her if church goers visited her? She told me that every single person that visits her were all church goers. I was so dumb founded when I heard this. They all come to her with concerns regarding money, family, illness, and church problems. But she concluded that they are all bound by money and everything comes down to their concerns regarding money. I was so shocked to hear this. Even though these church goers go to church, they think money is more important than God.
3) The status of a sorcerer:
She received this evil spirit just two years ago so she will become stronger as time progresses. I asked her how she feels about the evil spirit inside of her and she said that her power is more powerful than the president. She said that the president is nothing compared to the evil spirit inside of her. She said that everything is under her and she is powerful than everyone else. We as as children of God possess the greatest power and authority since our Father is the Creator God, but these shamans are sitting with so much leisure and confidence. When I visited Korea a while ago, I saw rows of cars of conglomerates getting out their cars and when a shaman got off a car, they all came and bowed down before her. When they bowed down before her, they called her, “mother”. They were acknowledging her power before them. We must possess the confidence as children of God. In the Bible, it says that God considers us as the greatest and most precious treasures in this world.
I asked her one more question, I asked her what she would do if her children attended church and she actually told me that both of her children attend church. But even after attending church, none of her children know the true gospel. Even her son helps her walk on the blades. I realized that we are in trouble. None of her children know who Christ really is. It is so unfortunate. We can see that we are in a situation where we must preach the gospel. Then imagine how precious we are before God. We need to save this world that is suffering. God sees us as so precious who are praying and preaching this gospel of life.
<Conclusion>
James 4:7 (“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”) - Submit to the Word of God. This is because the Word of God will absolutely be fulfilled. Just like how the shamans strongly believe that whatever they say will be fulfilled then God’s Word will absolutely be fulfilled. Then, as you daily pray, may you pray deeply with Galatians 2:20. Entrust all things to God. You are completely dead. Only Christ lives in you. May only Christ be glorified through you. May Christ only be present in your life. Truly enter into deep prayer with this. Then, God will show you His great power within your life.
벨릭스 총독의 비극(행24:22-25)
서론
여러분들은 강단 말씀을 통해서 일주일동안 기도하면서 많은 응답을 받고계신 줄로 믿는다. 저도 지금 계속 강단 메세지를 붙잡고 기도하는 가운데 실제 현장에서 계속 응답을 받아오고 있다. 예를 든다면 지지난주 11월 3일날 하나님께서 제자의 마지막 전쟁이라는 말씀을 주셨다. 이 시대는 정신병시대, 중독시대, 질병시대를 맞이하고 있다고 했다. 그래서 우리가 정확한 복음을 갖고 그들을 치유해야 되겠다고 같이 말씀을 받았다. 그 말씀을 갖고 기도하는 가운데 사람을 만나게되었다. 만났는데 그 분 얘기가 아주 여러가지로 힘들어 죽겠다고 했다. 그래서 하나님께서 이 사람을 나에게 붙이시기 위해서 만남을 주셨구나 하는 생각이 들었다. 이 사람에게 답을 주라고 하나님께서 만남을 주셨구나 하는 생각이 들었다. 여러가지 어려운 문제와 정신적 문제를 이야기했다. 그래서 그러면 나하고 일주일에 한 번만 만나자고 이야기를 했다. 그래서 그 사람을 통해서 그 집과 사무실에 두군데가 말씀의 문이 열렸다. 지난주에는 영적 서밋의 누림이라는 말씀을 받았다. 말씀 가운데서 백사경이라는 박수무당이 선교사와의 만남을 통해서 예수님을 영접한 것을 말씀 드렸다. 그 백사경의 아들이 결국 그 유명한 백낙준 박사의 아버지였다고 말씀을 드렸다. 저는 이 언약의 말씀을 붙들고 무당에게 복음을 전해야겠구나 하는 마음이 들었다. 저번에 장로님으로부터 달라스에 작두를 타는 무당이 있다는 얘기를 들었다. 그 얘기를 듣고 이 사람을 만나야되겠다는 생각이 들었다. 그래서 그 분에게 전화를 걸었다. 목요일에 만나기로 했다. 그런데 얘기를 한다. 만나는데 100불입니다 했다. 아 이거 100불을 주고 구태여 가서 얘기할 것 있는가 하는 생각이 들었다. 마음이 왔다갔다 하고 있는 판인데 목요일에 기도수첩 말씀을 보았다. 기도수첩에 황금지대, 사각지대, 재앙지대가 딱 나왔다. 하나님께서 가라하시는구나 했다. 이 재앙지대에 빠져있는 저 무속인에게 받든 안받든 복음을 전해야겠다 결심을 하고 찾아갔다. 갔더니 내림굿을 받았는데 신 받은지 2년 2개월 밖에 안되는 애기 무당이었다. 잠깐 화면을 보시겠다. 이 사람이다. 무당복을 입고 모델처럼 포즈를 취하고 있다. 아침마다 일어나서 경문을 외우고 기도를 한다고 한다. 저 옆에 하얀 보자기가 자기가 탔다는 작두이다. 이 사람에게 가서 들어가니까 어떻게 오셨습니까 했다. 목사입니다 했다. 목사님인 것 같았습니다 했다. 조금 신령하긴 한 것 같다. 설문지를 만들어서 갔다. 내가 물어볼게 있어서 왔다고 했다. 돈을 주니까 마음 문을 확 열었다. 이야기를 나누고 여기 목사가 왔으니까 당신에게 5분만 복음에 대해서 이야기하고 싶다고 했다. 5분 시간 낼 수 있습니다 했다. 그래서 우리 5분 메세지를 했다. 그 말씀을 선포하는 순간에 얼굴이 굉장히 긴장하면서 듣는 것을 보았다. 지금 예수를 그리스도로 믿고 영접하면 하나님의 영이 당신 마음 속에 들어갈 것이라고 했다. 가만히 듣더니 정신이 번쩍드는지 지금 저한테 전도하시는거에요 했다. 저는 신령님을 배반할 수 없습니다 했다. 알겠다고 하고 끝냈다. 가면서 진짜 간절히 기도하고 갔다. 하나님 이 영혼을 불쌍히 여겨달라고 했다. 자기가 어떻게 될 지 모르고 귀신에게 잡혀있는데 이 영혼을 불쌍히 여겨달라고 했다. 박수무당 백사경은 이복음을 듣고 예수님을 영접해서 자손까지 살았다. 오늘도 복음을 통해서 자손도 살 수 있는 축복을 달라고 기도했다. 모든 것을 하나님 뜻대로 되어지기 원합니다 하고 기도했다. 결국은 영접이 안되었다. 다음에 또 한 번 오겠다고 했다. 연락 주십시요 했다. 우리 복음 전하는 것이 얼마나 귀중한지 모른다. 한 생명이 사느냐 죽느냐 하는 것이 여러분이 복음을 어떻게 전하느냐에 달려있다. 이 복음을 전하다가 감옥소에 가게된 사도바울의 예를 보고있다.
1. 벨릭스의 판결
1) 무죄 판결
저는 이 사도바울에게는 하나님께서 함께 하시는 것을 계속 보고있다. 지난 번에는 대제사장의 고발로 인해 죽음의 위기까지 몰렸었다. 그 때 사도바울은 변론을 했다. 변론을 끝나자마자 오늘 보니까 벨릭스가 판결을 내리는 장면이 나온다. 그런데 판결이 사실상 무죄 판결을 내린 것이다.
행24:22 벨릭스가 이 도에 관한 것을 더 자세히 아는 고로 연기하여 이르되 –
벨릭스 총독은 이미 기독교가 어떤 것인지 조사한 상태라는 것이다. 그러면서 하는 얘기가 천부장 루시아가 오면 처결할테니 가라고 한다. 천부장 루시아는 이미 행 23:29에 사도바울이 죄가 없다고 판결을 내렸다. 루시아의 말대로 죄가 없구나 하는 의미이다. 벨릭스 총독은 대제사장을 보내고 난 다음에 오늘말씀에 보면 그를 죄수가 아니라 자유롭게 풀어주어라 그러나 이 안에서 거할수 있도록 하고 자유를 주는 것을 볼 수 있다. 이것도 하나님의 은혜이다. 죄가 없다고 풀어버려서 나가게 되면 잘못하면 대제사장에게 맞아죽을 수도 있다. 사도바울을 죽이려고 특공대 40 명이 기다리고 있었다. 차라리 풀려주지 않고 안에 있는 것이 더 바울에게는 나았다.
행 24:23 백부장에게 명하여 바울을 지키되 자유를 주고 그의 친구들이 그를 돌보아 주는 것을 금하지 말라 하니라
하나님께서는 사도바울을 그 안에서도 복음을 전할 수 있는 문을 열어주신 것이다. 첫번쨰 하나님이 문을 열어주신 복음 대상자가 벨릭스와 그의 아내에게 복음을 전했다.
2) 바울의 계속된 사역
행24:24 수일 후에 벨릭스가 그 아내 유대 여자 드루실라와 함께 와서 바울을 불러 그리스도 예수 믿는 도를 듣거늘
이 드루실라라는 여자는 아그립바 왕의 딸이라고 알려져있다. 이 여자가 아주 기독교에 대해서 관심이 많았다. 자기 남편에게 같이 들어봅시다 얘기를 했을 것 같다.
행 24:25 바울이 의와 절제와 장차 오는 심판을 강론하니 –
사도바울은 항상 얘기할 때 예수는 그리스도라는 사실을 전했는데 이번에는 상황이 달랐다. 이 세가지에 대해서 얘기했다는 것은 너희들 지금 잘못된 삶을 살고있다고 했다는 것이다. 너희들 삶이 지금 잘못되어있으니까 회개하고 하나님 앞에 올바른 삶을 살아라 하고 복음을 전하는 것이다. 이 총독에 대해서는 얘기할게 많습니다만 자기 이익을 위해서는 수단과 방법을 가리지 않는 사람으로 알려져있다. 아내 드루실라는 다름사람의 아내였다. 기록에 보면 이 여자가 너무너무 잘생겼다고 한다. 이 총독이 어떻게 하면 저 여자를 뺐느냐 하고 고민하다가 유대인 마술사를 불러서 가서 유혹을 해라 해서 데리고 왔다. 부정한 방법으로 아내를 취했다는 것을 온 세상 사람들이 다 알고있다. 사도바울은 그 사실을 알고 의와 절제와 심판에 대해 정확하게 이야기를 하고 있는 것이다. 이것을 보면 사도바울이 참 대단한 사람인 것 같다. 죄수 입장이니까 나가기 위해서는 맘에드는 이야기를 골라서 해야하지만 천국에 가기위해선 회개해야 한다고 죄를 정확하게 이야기 해준다. 사도바울이 담대하게 복음을 전한다.
2. 벨릭스의 비극
1) 구원받지 못하는 믿음
그런데 벨릭스가 사도바울의 복음을 듣고도 복음을 받지 못했다. 믿음은 있는데 구원받지 못하는 믿음이 있는 것을 볼 수 있다. 벨릭스와 그 아내는 복음에는 관심이 있었다. 일부러 불러서 그리스도의 도에 대해 들었다. 그런데 문제는 복음 앞에 무릎을 꿇을 수 없었던 신앙이었다.
행 24:25 – 벨릭스가 두려워하여 대답하되 지금은 가라 내가 틈이 있으면 너를 부르리라 하고
두려워했다는 것은 하나님의 심판을 두려워했다는 것이다. 하나님의 살아계심을 느끼고 알고 있음에도 그것으로 끝나는 것이다. 결단을 하지 못하는 것이다.
얍2:19-20 네가 하나님은 한 분이신 줄을 믿느냐 잘하는도다 귀신들도 믿고 떠느니라. 20 아아 허탄한 사람아 행함이 없는 믿음이 헛것인 줄을 알고자 하느냐
우리가 신앙 가운데서 가장 중요한 것이 경외하는 신앙, 하나님을 두려워하는 신앙이다. 우리가 행동하거나 말할 때 살아계신 하나님 앞에서 매사 조심할 수 있는 것이 하나님을 두려워하는 신앙에서 생기는 것이다. 그런데 하나님이 살아계심을 분명히 믿고있어도 그것만으로는 안된다는 것이다. 귀신들도 믿고 떠느니라고 했다. 행함이 없는 믿음은 헛것이다. 우리 믿음에는 결단이 있어야한다. 하나님 자녀답게 살겠다는 결단이 있어야하는 것이다. 나는 하나님 살아계신 것 믿고있어 하면서 내 맘대로 사는 것이 구원과는 상관이 없다는 것이다. 이 벨릭스가 사도바울이라는 어마어마한 사도에게 복음을 듣고도 두려워하지만 믿음으로 받지 못했다는 것이 참 놀라운 사실이다. 그러면 참 구원받는 믿음은 어떤 믿음인가.
2) 절대제자의 믿음
갈2:20 내가 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못 박혔나니 그런즉 이제는 내가 사는 것이 아니요 오직 내 안에 그리스도께서 사시는 것이라 –
다 내려놓는 삶을 나타낸다. 다 내려놓는 것은 내 생각, 판단, 기준, 소원, 내가 세상적으로 원하는 모든 것, 심지어는 내 생명까지도 주님 앞에 내려놓는 것이다. 주님의 십자가에 내려논다는 것은 내 모든 죄, 과거 삶을 십자가에 내려놓고 같이 죽는 것이다. 내 모든 것을 하나님께 던져놓고 난 다음에 우리는 주님과 함께 십자가에 못박혀서 장사되는 것이다. 내 모든 것이 완전히 십자가에서 죽은 것이다. 나의 틀, 생각, 삶, 나의 모든 것을 죽여버리는 것이다.
갈 2:20 – 이제 내가 육체 가운데 사는 것은 나를 사랑하사 나를 위하여 자기 자신을 버리신 하나님의 아들을 믿는 믿음 안에서 사는 것이라
내 모든 삶은 내 안에 계신 그리스도만 나타나는 것이다. 내가 사는 것이 아니라 예수님이 사시는 것이다. 이것을 갖고 한 번 깊은 기도를 해보시기 바란다. 저는 아침에 정시기도를 할 때 이것을 갖고 깊은 기도로 들어간다. 나의 모든 생각과 삶이 주님의 무덤 속으로 들어가길 원합니다. 이제 내가 사는 것은 오직 주님만 나타나길 원합니다. 이하늘의 삶을 주님계서 인도해 인도해주시길 원합니다. 승리하시기 바란다.
3. 종교인의 믿음
1) 가문의 문제
저는 이번에 무당을 만나면서 종교인의 삶이 이렇구나 하는 것을 깨달았다. 더군다나 저는 만날 때 세가지를 알아봐야겠다 하고 설문지를 만들었다. 가문의 종교상황이 어떤지 알고싶었다. 그리고 무당들이 날카로운 칼 위에 춤을 추는데 무섭지 않은가. 그리고 찾아오는 손님들은 어떤 사람인가. 제가 갈 때 붙잡고 간 말씀이 겔 3:18 말씀이다.
겔3:18 가령 내가 악인에게 말하기를 너는 꼭 죽으리라 할 때에 네가 깨우치지 아니하거나 말로 악인에게 일러서 그의 악한 길을 떠나 생명을 구원하게 하지 아니하면 그 악인은 그의 죄악 중에서 죽으려니와 내가 그의 피 값을 네 손에서 찾을 것이고
복음을 전하지 않으면 그 핏 값을 너에게 찾겠다고 하신다. 그래서 기도하고 찾아갔다. 이 무당은 나이가 49살이었다. 1남 1녀를 둔 엄마였다. 남편하고는 헤어졌다. 놀라운 것은 친정엄마가 현재 교회 명예 권사로 있다고 한다. 자기 형제들은 자기가 무당된 것을 아는데 어머니는 전혀 모르고 있다고 했다. 자기 시어머니가 무당이었다고 한다. 저는 이것을 보고 참 많은 생각을 했다. 우리 렘넌트들이 결혼을 할 때 절대 가정을 보아야겠다는 것을 느꼈다. 친정 엄마는 교회 권사로 신앙생활을 하고 있는데 시엄마는 무당이었다. 그러니까 그 시어머니에게 있던 영이 들어간 것이다. 참 놀라운 일 아닌다. 우리 렘넌트들 가문을 잘 조사하고 해야겠구나 싶었다. 자신은 어릴 때 부터 교회를 다녔다. 달라스 와서도 교회를 다녔다고 한다. 이 사람은 달라스에 2006년도에 왔다고 한다. 그래서 미용실을 열었다. 그런데 하는 일 마다 실패했다. 그래서 교회 가서 답을 찾으려고 했는데 교회에서 답을 주지 못했다. 본인은 답답해 죽겠는 것이다. 그래서 2015년도에 큰 재판이 걸렸다고 한다. 거기서 져서 모든 것을 다 잃었다. 교회의 친구들도 다 잃었다. 그 문제가 영적인 문제에 있다는 것을 아는 사람이 전혀 없었다. 그래서 한국에 있는 언니한테 전화를 했다고 한다. 그러니까 유명한 무당이 있는데 연락을 해보라고 했다. 그래서 무당한테 전화하니까 정확한 메세지를 주더라는 것이다. 너는 태어날 때서 부터 무당될 운을 갖고 태어났다 하고 답을 정확히 주더라는 것이다. 내가 무당 될 운명이로구나 하고 무당 될 결심을 했다는 것이다. 그러면서 얘기하는 것을 들었다. 내 자식에게 다가올 불행을 내가 다 짊어지고 가기 위해서 무당이 되었습니다 했다. 자기 자식이 더 심각해질텐데 모르고 신을 받았다.
2) 무속인의 믿음
그래서 2017년도 9월달에 내림굿을 받았다고 한다. 처음에 내림굿을 받으면서 작두를 탔다고 했다. 그 신엄마는 사람 자체가 작두를 타는 아주 유명한 무당이라고 한다. 그래서 작두를 타야된다고해서 달라스에서 작두를 탔다. 그 칼을 어떻게 한국에서 갖고 들어왔냐고 물었다. 갖고 들어오지 못해서 달라스에서 작두칼을 두개를 만들었다고 한다. 큰 칼을 날카롭게 갈아서 고정을 시켰다. 어느정도 날카롭게 하냐면 옷을 대면 금방 찢어진다. 창호지를 삭 하면 종이가 찢겨진다. 그러고 난 다음에 그 날카로운 칼 위에 맨발로 올라가는 것이다. 올라가는데 두렵지 않냐고 했다. 도저히 못 올라가겠더라는 것이다. 그러니까 자기 신 엄마가 메세지를 주더란다. 마음과 생각을 비워라. 모든 것을 맡겨라 하더란다. 성경에 나오는 것은 다 쓰고 앉아있다. 하나님께 맡기는 것이 아니라 마귀에게 맡기고 있다. 신령님이 계시지 않느냐 맡겨라 했다. 신령님이 너화 함께 하시다 믿어라 했다. 그러니까 힘이 확 나더란다. 그래서 주춤되니까 나는 할 수 있다고 외치라고 했다. 그래서 나는 할 수 있다고 막 외쳤다. 그러니까 정말로 올라갈 수 있었다고 한다. 무당들은 말하는 것을 굉장히 조심한다고 한다. 왜냐하면 말이 그대로 이루어지기 때문이다. 성경에서 하는 얘기를 무당들이 다 쓰고앉아있다.
얍3:5 이와 같이 혀도 작은 지체로되 큰 것을 자랑하도다 보라 얼마나 작은 불이 얼마나 많은 나무를 태우는가
무당들은 자기가 하는 말이 그대로 이루어질 것을 믿고 선포를 한다고 한다. 그러면 그대로 된다는 것이다. 믿음을 갖고 선포하고 믿는데로 이루어진다는 것이다. 칼 위에 올라갔다. 그 날카로운 칼에 맨발로 올라갔는데 감각이 어떻드냐 물어봤다. 하반신이 감각을 전혀 못느끼겠더라는 것이다. 밟고 있는지 뭔지도 모르고 감각이 없는상태에서 춤을 추게 되었다. 춤추고 내려와서 발바닥을 보니까 껍데기 하나 벗겨지지 않고 깨끗하더라는 것이다. 그러면서 나는 신령님의 능력을 확실히 체험한 사람입니다 했다. 귀신의 능력이 무당에게 나타났구나 했다. 제가 또 물어봤다. 찾아온 사람들이 어떤 상태로 찾아오냐고 물었다. 교인들도 찾아옵니까 물었다. 그 사람이 하는 얘기가 찾아오는 사람 전부 교인이에요 했다. 와서 뭘 물어보드냐 했다. 자녀문제, 재산문제, 질병문제 이런거라고 했다. 그러면서 결국 다 돈에 잡혀있는거죠 했다. 참 기가 막혔다. 교회를 다니면서도 돈이 더 중하니까 그냥 다 잡혀있는 것이다. 신을 받은지가 2년 밖에 안되니까 물불 안가리고 천방지축으로 하고있는 상태이다.
3) 무당의 신분
무당 신분에 대해 어떻게 생각하느냐 했다. 대뜸 무당이 대통령보다 높은 직분이죠 했다. 지금 뭐라고 했냐고 물었다. 대통령이 우리보다 한 수 아래입니다. 우리한테 꼼짝못합니다 했다. 모든 세상 정치인들도 자기들이 다스리는 존재라는 것이다. 저는 그것을 보면서 우리 하나님의 자녀들은 더 높은 존재인데 이 무당이 이러고 앉아있구나 했다. 제가 옛날에 한국에서 무당집을 갔는데 재벌차가 오더니 비서들이 나오고 까만차에서 사람이 나오더니 무당에서 쫙 엎드리는 것을 보았다. 꽤 점잖고 괜찮은 사람 같은데 딱 가서 엎드리더니 어머니 했다. 무당은 반말 짓거리를 하기 시작했다. 여러분 정말 하나님 자녀된 긍지를 가지시기 바란다. 하나님의 자녀는 무당 뿐 아니라 세상 어떤 자 보다도 귀하고 보배로운 자라고 했다. 제가 또 한가지 물었다. 자녀 중에 교회를 나가겠다고 하면 어떻게 하겠습니까 하고 물었다. 우리 아들 딸은 교회 다 다니고 있어요 했다. 사위도 교회 다니고 있다고 했다. 교회를 다니면서 복음을 모르는 것이다. 아들은 교회를 다니면서도 엄마가 신을 받을 때 같이 부축해주었다. 교회를 다니면서 염주를 차고 교회를 가고 있습니다 했다. 큰일났구나 싶었다. 아직까지 자녀들이 그리스도가 누군지 모르고 있구나 했다. 교회 다니면서 이런 것을 보면 얼마나 안타까운지 모르겠다. 우리가 복음을 전하지 않으면 안되는 상황을 볼 수 있었다. 하나님께서 열어분들을 얼마나 귀하게 보시는지 모른다. 정말 예수가 그리스도라는 사실을 알고 이것을 갖고 고통받는 자들을 살리겠다는 마음을 가지고 기도하는 여러분들을 하나님께서 정말 귀하게 여기실걸 믿는다. 정말 승리하시는 여러분 되시기 바란다.
결론
얍4:7 그런즉 너희는 하나님께 복종할지어다 마귀를 대적하라 그리하면 너희를 피하리라
하나님의 말씀에 복종하시기 바란다. 말씀은 반드시 성취된다. 무당들의 말도 성취가 된다고 하고 앉아있는데 영원하신 하나님의 말씀은 반드시 성취가 되는 줄로 믿는다. 그래서 날마다 갈 2:20 말씀 붙들고 깊은 기도에 들어가시기 바란다. 내모든 것을 다 내려놓길 바란다. 나는 완전히 죽었고 내안에 사는것은 주님뿐이고 주님만 영광받으시길 원합니다. 내 삶에 주님만 나타나기 원합니다. 버릴 것을 생각하면서 계속 깊은 기도에 들어가시기 바란다. 성령충만의 역사가 나타나게 될 줄로 믿는다.
