멜기세덱과 절대언약(히7:1-3)
서론
중국에 이태백이라는 유명한 시인이 있다. 그 사람이 어릴 때 공부를 하는데 너무나 힘들어서 그만두고 집으로 가야되겠다 하고 집으로 가는 도중이었다. 돌아가는 도중에 머리가 하얀 늙으신 할머니 한 분이 앉아있는 것을 보게된다. 그런데 그 할머니는 쇠로 된 절구를 돌에다 갈고 있었다. 그것을 보고 이상하게 생각하고 이태백이 왜 쇳덩이를 힘들여서 갈고 계십니까 했다. 할머니가 내가 이것을 갈아서 바늘을 만들려고 한다고 대답했다. 그것을 갈아서 바늘을 만드신다니, 나이도 드셨는데 괜찮으십니까 했다. 한 10년은 걸리겠지. 그 때까지는 내가 살아야지 하고 계속 갈았다. 그래서 또 물어봤다. 왜 그 나이에 그것을 꼭 바늘로 만들려고 하십니까. 할머니가 하시는 말씀이 내가 이미 결심한 일이니까 힘들어도 참고 해야지 하고 계속 가셨다. 할머니는 쇳덩어리를 갈아서 바늘을 만드는데 10년이면 되지 않으까 하면서 계속 갈고있는 것이다. 이 할머니의 말씀을 들으면서 이태백은 자기 자신을 돌아봤다. 나는 지금 무얼하고 있는가. 저 할머니는 10년을 목표로해서 말도 안되는 것 같은 쇳덩어리를 바늘로 가는 일을 하고 있는데 나는 무엇을 하고 있는가. 나는 공부하는 것이 힘들다고 해서 2년 공부하고 때려치고 집으로 가는 도중인데 이래서 되겠는가. 그 순간에 이태백은 마음에 결심을 했다. 다시 시작하자. 할머니의 목표를 나도 배우자. 그래서 다시 돌아가서 자신의 목표를 세웠다고 한다. 그 사람은 마침내 중국 당나라에서 제일 유명한 시인이 되었다. 유명한 이야기이다. 많은 사람들은 목표가 없이 살아간다. 목표보다는 당장의 이익을 위해서 살아가는 사람들이 많이 있다. 참지 못하고 조급한 사람들이 많이 있다. 이것 때문에 우리가 모든 일을 그르치게된다. 중요한 것은 아브라함은 언약을 잡고 25년을 기다렸다. 생각해보시기 바란다. 여러분들의 목표는 무엇인가. 오늘 말씀을 통해서 다시 한 번 목표를 설정하는 귀한 시간 되기 바란다. 오늘 말씀은 대단히 중요한 말씀이다.
1. 제사장 멜기세덱
1) 아브라함을 축복
오늘 말씀에 멜기세덱에 대해서 말하고 있다.
히 7:1 이 멜기세덱은 살렘 왕이요 지극히 높으신 하나님의 제사장이라 여러 왕을 쳐서 죽이고 돌아오는 아브라함을 만나 복을 빈 자라
가나안 지역은 우상이 가득한 지역이었다. 그런데 그 우상이 가득한 지역에서 지극히 높으신 하나님을 섬기는 제사장이 있었다는 사실이다. 그 분이 나타났다. 그런데 누구에게 나타났는고 하니까 여러 왕을 쳐서 죽이고 돌아오는 아브라함을 만나 복을 빌었다고 나온다. 아브라함이 전쟁을 하게된다. 창 14장 말씀에 보게되면 북쪽의 네 나라와 남쪽의 다섯 나라가 전쟁을 일으킨다. 남쪽에 있는 다섯 왕이 형편없이 패배를 한다. 그래서 수 많은 재물을 잃고 사람들은 포로로 붙잡혀가게 된다. 포로로 붙잡혀가면 그 나라에 가서 노예로 살아야만 된다. 그런데 불행하게도 그 포로 가운데 아브라함의 조카 롯이 포함되있었다. 아브라함은 그 소식을 듣고 너무나 급한 나머지 자기가 데리고 있던 318명의 장정들을 데리고 북쪽으로 쳐들어간다. 그런데 그 얼마 안되는 숫자를 갖고 대군을 공격했는데 뜻밖에도 대군을 물리친 것이다. 본문에 여러 왕을 쳐서 죽였다고 나온다. 북쪽의 네 왕 중에서 몇 명은 아브라함에 의해서 죽임을 당한 것 같다. 대승을 거둔 것이다. 대승을 거두니까 포로로 잡혀갔던 모든 사람들과 잃은 재물을 찾아서 남쪽으로 갔다.
창 14:17 –소돔 왕이 사웨 골짜기 곧 왕의 골짜기로 나와 그를 영접하였고
얼마 안되는 병사를 갖고 어마어마한 군대를 무찌르고 오는 아브라함을 영접하는 것이다.
창 14:18 살렘 왕 멜기세덱이 떡과 포도주를 가지고 나왔으니 그는 지극히 높으신 하나님의 제사장이었더라
살렘 왕인 멜기세덱도 같이 와서 아브라함을 맞이했다. 그 때 멜기세덱이 아브라함을 축복하는 내용이 나타난다.
창 14:20 너희 대적을 네 손에 붙이신 지극히 높으신 하나님을 찬송할지로다 하매 아브람이 그 얻은 것에서 십분의 일을 멜기세덱에게 주었더라
네가 싸워서 이긴 것은 바로 하나님께서 함께하심이라는 것을 이야기한 것이다. 이것은 당시로 봐서는 놀라운 선포인 것을 볼 수 있다. 우상만을 섬기는 가나안 땅 왕들에게 멜기세덱 제사장은 하나님께서 승리하게 했다는 것을 선포했다. 가나안 땅 남쪽은 완전히 패배하고 도망가고 죽음을 당했는데 아브라함에게 대적을 네 손에 붙이셨다고 했다. 네가 가나안 땅을 살리는 새로운 지도자임을 선포한 것이다. 왕들 뿐 아니라 수 많은 가족들 앞에서 멜기세덱이 선포한 것이다.
2) 하나님의 반복된 약속
히 7:2 아브라함이 모든 것의 십분의 일을 그에게 나누어 주니라 그 이름을 해석하면 먼저는 의의 왕이요 그 다음은 살렘 왕이니 곧 평강의 왕이요
멜기세덱은 해석하면 의의 왕이라는 뜻을 갖고 있다. 살렘 왕은 평강의 왕이라는 뜻을 갖고있다. 멜기세덱은 의의 왕, 평강의 왕이라는 것이댜. 의의 왕, 평강의 왕은 그리스도를 의미한다. 그 분이 나오면서 떡과 포도주를 갖고 나왔다. 그리스도께서 아브라함을 축복하신 것이다. 그리고 아브라함이 모든 것의 10분의 1을 그에게 나누어 주었다. 멜기세덱이 축복하는 것을 듣고 아브라함이 결단을 내리는데 모든 것을 10분의 1을 떼어서 제사장에게 바쳤다. 중요한 것은 거기 나와있는 원래 왕들의 재산들인데 물어보지 않고 아브라함이 결정해서 떼어서 주었다. 십일조라는 것은 하나님이 바로 우리의 주인이시다 하는 것을 고백하는 행위이다. 더군다나 아브라함은 이 전쟁에서 승리케 하신 분은 하나님이다 하는 것을 고백한 것이다. 이 모든 것은 하나님의 것이니까 그 중에서 십분의 일을 하나님께 바친다는 것이다. 아브라함이 가나안 땅의 왕들과 백성들 앞에서 십일조를 바쳤다는 것은 하나님께 영광돌리는 믿음의 고백이었다.
창 14:21 소돔 왕이 아브람에게 이르되 사람은 내게 보내고 물품은 네가 가지라
이것은 사람들은 우리 식구니까 보내주고 물건은 네가 마음대로 하라는 의미이다. 아브라함이 이겼으니까. 승리자니까. 모든 것을 관여할 수 있는 권세가 주어진 것이다. 이것은 가나안 지역의 최고 지도자가 되는 순간이다. 이 전쟁도 우연히 일어난 것이 아니라 하나님께서 일으키신 것을 볼 수 있다. 하나님께서 아브라함을 세우시기 위해서 모든 가나안 백성들에게 아브라함은 바로 내가 지명한 나의 종이다 하는 것을 보여주시기 위해서 사건을 일으키신 것이다. 또 앞으로 후손들이 이 땅을 정복할 것이라는 걸 나타내신 것이다. 우리가 겪는 모든 사건은 우연히 일어나는 것 같지만 하나님의 계획이 들어있는 것을 볼 수 있다. 그럼 멜기세덱은 어떤 사람인가.
2. 절대언약
1) 멜기세덱의 정체
히 7:3 아버지도 없고 어머니도 없고 족보도 없고 시작한 날도 없고 생명의 끝도 없어 하나님의 아들과 닮아서 항상 제사장으로 있느니라
멜기세덱이 떡과 포도주를 갖고 나와서 아브라함을 축복했는데 실제 있는 인물이냐는 논란이 있다. 마틴 루터는 멜기세덱은 노아의 아들 셈이었다고 주장한다. 노아의 아들 셈은 6백 살 까지 산다. 성경을 조사해보면 아브라함이 죽은 후에도 35년을 더 사는 것으로 나온다. 노아의 축복을 받은 셈이 장막에 거하면서 대제사장 사역을 했다는 추측을 한 것이다. 그래서 그를 보자마자 십분의 일을 뗴어서 바쳤다고 하는 것이다. 그런데 칼빈은 이렇게 이야기한다. 성경에 셈이라고 기록되지 않지 않았냐고 한다. 성경이 기록되지 않은 것을 인간이 억지로 해석하는 것은 잘못된 것이라고 한다. 만일 셈이었다면 성경에 모세는 틀림없이 셈이었다고 이야기했을 것이라는 것이다. 그래서 칼빈은 이야기하기를 3절에 나오는 말씀을 그대로 받아들이라는 것이다. 성경에 기록한 것 까지만 이해하고 계시로 받으면 된다는 것이다. 그러므로 아버지도 없고 어머니도 없고 족보도 없고 시작한 날도 없고 끝도 없다면 그것을 그대로 받아들이라는 것이다. 여기서 중요한 것은 이 멜기세덱이라 하는 확실히 밝혀지지 않은 이 사람이 왜 갑자기 나타나서 아브라함을 축복했냐는 것이다. 생각해보시기 바란다. 왜 멜기세덱이 나타나서 아브라함을 축복했는가. 중요한 것은 아브라함은 절대계획 속에 있었던 사람이라는 것이다.
2) 절대계획 속에 있는 자
아브라함의 축복을 생각해보시기 바란다. 창세기 12장 1-3절 말씀에 가나안 땅에 가게되면 축복해 주시겠다고 말씀하셨다. 이 아브라함의 언약을 나의 언약으로 붙잡아야하는 증거가 12장 4절에 나온다.
창 12:4 이에 아브람이 여호와의 말씀을 따라갔고—
아브라함은 그 언약을 나의 언약으로 붙들고 낯선 땅을 향해 갔다. 아브라함의 축복은 언제 시작 되었는가. 가나안 땅에 말씀들고 도착한 순간에 시작되었다. 증거가 나온다. 창 12:17에 기근이 일어나서 애굽으로 갔다. 바로에게 생명의 위협을 당할까 싶어서 와이프를 누이라고 속였다. 그것을 바로는 모르고 사라를 자기 부인으로 삼으려고 했다. 그 때 하나님께서는 바로에게 나타나서 재앙을 내리셨다.
창 12:17 여호와께서 아브람의 아내 사래의 일로 바로와 그 집에 큰 재앙을 내리신지라
거짓말 한 아브라함에게 재앙을 내린 것이 아니라 죄도 없는 바로를 재앙내리셨다. 무슨 말씀인가. 어떠한 복 보다도 가장 중요한 것이 언약 잡은 것이다. 14장에서 북쪽의 강력한 국가들과 318명을 갖고 싸워서 아브라함이 이겼다. 그게 말이 되는 이야기인가. 그런데 실질적으로 이겼다. 어떻게 이겼나. 하나님께서 싸우신 것이다. 왜 그런가. 아브라함이 죽으면 안되니까. 언약 속에 있는 사람이니까. 언약 속에 있는 사람은 하나님께서 싸우신다. 믿으시기 바란다. 우리가 언약 가지 것이 얼마나 중요한가를 말해준다. 예를 하나 더 들게되면 아브라함과 같은 시대 살았던 사람으로 욥이 있다. 욥과 그 세 친구가 토론을 벌인다. 욥기를 읽어보면 그 사람들이 믿음이 대단히 좋은 사람들인 것을 볼 수 있다. 어떻게 본다면 아브라함보다 훨씬 더 좋은 믿음을 가진 사람들이었다. 그런데 그 사람들이 믿음의 조상이 되지는 못했다. 왜 그런가. 그는 절대 계획 속에 있는 사람들이 아니었다. 당대로 끝났다. 하나님은 가나안 땅에 대한 절대계획이 있으셨다. 아브라함은 정말로 은혜로 절대계획 속으로 들어갔다. 가나안 땅으로 들어갔다. 하나님께서 주신 절대 언약을 잡고 가나안 땅으로 들어갔다. 비록 부족하고 연약하고 실수도 많이 했다. 그러나 그를 하나님께서 세워나가시기 시작했다. 왜 그런가. 언약 속에 있기 때문이다. 여러분도 언약 속에 계신가. 우리가 언약 속에 있다는 것이 얼마나 귀중한지 모른다. 그러면 절대언약의 근원이 무엇인가.
3. 절대언약의 축복
1) 절대언약의 근원
그리스도를 통해서 모든 것이 이루어진다. 이 멜기세덱에 대해서도 시편 110:4에서 다윗이 이야기 했다.
시 110:4 여호와는 맹세하고 변하지 아니하시리라 이르시기를 너는 멜기세덱의 서열을 따라 영원한 제사장이라 하셨도다
앞으로 나타날 제사장 되신 그리스도께서 나타나실 때 너는 멜기세덱의 서열을 따라 나타난다고 했다. 오늘 3절 말씀에 멜기세덱은 아론의 가문보다 더 높은 하나님의 가문이라고 나온다. 그리스도는 하나님의 가문에서 나온 영원한 제사장이다. 이것은 절대언약으로 주신 것이다. 이 분 때문에 우리 모든 죄가 용서함 받는 것이다. 영원히 용서받는 것이다. 다윗 왕에게 말씀하셨다.
삼하 7:16 네 집과 네 나라가 내 앞에서 영원히 보전되고 네 위가 영원히 견고하리라 하셨다 하라
네 왕직이 영원히 계속될 것은 네 후손 가운데 그리스도가 영원한 나라를 세우실 것이라는 것이다. 만왕의 왕께서 영원히 왕으로 계실 것이라는 말이다. 이게 절대언약의 근원이다.
사 7:14 그러므로 주께서 친히 징조를 너희에게 주실 것이라 보라 처녀가 잉태하여 아들을 낳을 것이요 그의 이름을 임마누엘이라 하리라
인간의 문제를 해결하시기 위해서 하나님께서 육신의 몸을 입고 이 땅에 친히 임마누엘로 임하실 것이라는 것이다. 이게 절대언약의 근원이다. 이 절대 언약은 모든 것이 그리스도와 연결되어있다. 그리스도께서는 이 땅에 오셔서 인간의 모든 문제를 완전히 해결하고 우리를 해방시켜주셨다. 절대언약을 잡고 계시는가. 이것을 정말 붙잡아야된다. 우리가 절대언약을 잡는 것이 얼마나 중요한지 모른다. 절대언약이 있는 사람과 없는 사람이 별 차이가 없다고 생각하면 안된다. 우리가 너무 큰 축복 속에 있기 때문에 무슨 축복을 받았는지 모른다. 우리는 절대언약을 누리는 비밀을 붙잡아야겠다. 절대언약을 잡은 자에게 이런 축복이 있구나 하는 것을 알게될 것이다.
2) 누리는 비밀
핵심 메세지에서 나온 것이다. 다섯 가지이다. 꼭 잡고 응답 받으시기 바란다. 여러분들에게 많은 문제들이 생길 것이다. 어떤 문제가 생긴다고 하더라도 그 문제를 해결하려고 하지 말라는 것이다. 여러분들이 갖고있는 문제가 여러분들의 힘으로 해결되는가. 코로나 문제만 해도 쩔쩔매고 있다. 네 힘으로 해결하지 말라는 것이다. 그러면 어떻게하는가. 하나님께 갖고 오라는 것이다. 하나님께서 하신다는 것이다. 탕자의 비유를 알고있다. 탕자가 나가서 다 망했다. 탕자의 문제가 언제 해결되었는가. 망한 모습을 그대로 갖고 아버지께 갔을 때 해결되었다. 문제 해결 방법은 하나님께 찾아오는 것이다. 좋지 않은 머리로 해결하려고 하다가는 미쳐버린다. 하나님께 갖고가면 그대로 해결될 줄로 믿는다. 꼭 잡으시기 바란다. 두번째이다. 오직 언약을 잡으시기 바란다. 오직 하나님만 바라보시기 바란다. 기도제목도 갖지 말라는 말이다. 그러면 뭘 가지는가. 말씀만 누리시기 바란다. 하나님께서 주신 이 말씀만 누리면 된다는 것이다. 분명한 것은 성경을 보게되면 예수님께서는 우리에게 기도제목을 주시지 않았다. 주님께서 오직 한가지 찾으라고 한 것이 성령 충만함이었다. 우리는 오직 하나님만 바라보고 그리스도만 바라보게 되면 하나님께서 성령을 통해서 역사하시는 것이다. 너무 쉬운 것이다. 머리 쓸 이유가 없다. 함께 하시면 끝나니까. 꼭 붙잡으시기 바란다. 세번째이다. 우리가 모든 것을 하나님께 맡기고 오직 그리스도만 찾게되면 그 때 하나님께서 우리에게 기도제목을 주신다. 우리가 만든 기도제목이 아니라 하나님께서 우리에게 주시는 기도제목이 있다는 것이다. 바로 그것이 우리에게 주시는 미션이다. 하나님께서 우리에게 미션을 주시고 우리보고 하라는 것이 아니라 성령께서 역사하시는 것이다. 미션을 주시면서 그것이 성취되어나가는 것을 보게하신다. 사드락, 메삭, 아벳느고가 죽음의 위기 가운데서 살려달라고 하지 않았다. 죽음의 위기에 있습니다 우리를 살려 주시옵소서 하지 않았다. 하나님께 다 맡겨버렸다. 하나님께서 살려주실 것입니다. 안 살려주셔도 좋습니다. 그러니까 하나님께서 역사하셨다. 하나님께서 원하시는 방향으로 영광을 받으신 것이다. 바로 그 축복을 우리에게 주셨다. 모든 것을 하나님께 맡기시기 바란다. 이렇게 되면 이 때 부터 24시가 되어진다. 응답 중의 응답이 24시 응답이다. 24시 응답이 무엇인가. 하나님께서 함께하시는 역사가 나타나는 것이다. 실제로 현장에 역사하시는 것이다. 그래서 우리가 할 것은 하나이다.
살전 5:16-18 항상 기뻐하라. 17 쉬지 말고 기도하라. 18 범사에 감사하라 이것이 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희를 향하신 하나님의 뜻이니라
응답 받으시기 바란다. 우리는 감사만 하면 된다. 이 때 부터 다섯번째 응답이 온다. 우리와 전혀 상관 없는 일이 일어나기 시작한다. 바로 25시 응답, 영원의 응답이다. 우리를 통해서 하나님 나라가 이루어지는 것이다. 중요한 것은 모든 것은 우리가 하는 것이 아니라 하나님께서 하시는 것이다.
렘 33:2 일을 행하시는 여호와, 그것을 만들며 성취하시는 여호와, 그의 이름을 여호와라 하는 이가 이와 같이 이르시도다
오늘 아브라함이 전쟁에 나간 것도 다 하나님께서 하신 것이다. 하나님의 뜻과 계획을 이루시기 위해 모든 것을 다 하고 계신다. 그러면 우리에게 일어나는 일은 우리 소관?이 아니다. 25시 응답, 영원의 응답을 주시기 위해서 일하고 계신다. 이 다섯가지가 절대언약을 가진 우리가 응답을 누리는 비밀이다. 참 신앙 생활을 하는 것이 어떤 것이냐를 보여주는 것이다. 하나님의 절대계획 속에 있는 자들에게 나타는 비밀이다. 여러분에게 나타날 응답이다.
결론
우리는 절대사명을 생각해야겠다. 절대언약이다.
행 1:8 오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라 하시니라.
하나님께서 완벽하게 다 하신다. 우리가 해야할 것은 237 복음화를 위해서 기도하는 것이다. 하나님 저를 통해서 237복음화가 일어날 수 있도록 축복하옵소서. 하나님께서 제일 기뻐하시는 기도인 줄로 믿는다. 이것도 되어지는 축복, 24 25 영원의 응답이 여러분들에게 나타날 줄로 믿는다.
Melchizedek and the Absolute Covenant (Hebrews 7:1-3)

“1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, 2 to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated 'king of righteousness,' and then also king of Salem, meaning 'king of peace,' 3 without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.”
Introduction
In China, there is a famous poet named Li Bai. And ever since he was young, he studied a lot. Since studies was difficult for him, he decided to give up on his studies and return home. On his journey back home, there was an old grandmother who appeared before him but this grandmother was grinding a metal against a rock. When the child saw this, she thought this was strange and asked the grandmother why she was giving herself a hard time by grinding this metal. This grandmother responded that she is grinding this metal to make it into a needle. This grandmother said it may take her 10 years to transform this metal into a needle but she wanted to accomplish it before she died. The child asked the grandmother why at her age she is so determined to make this metal into a needle? The grandmother replied that she already made it into a goal so even though it may be hard, she wanted to accomplish this goal. The grandmother kept grinding this metal into a needle even if it took her 10 years. When the child heard what the grandmother was saying this, he started reflection on himself. He thought what he was doing with his life while this grandmother was dedicating her entire life for 10 years to grind this metal into a needle. This child gave up on his studies that he was doing for 1-2 years and can I do this to myself even when there is a grandmother that was grading a metal for 10 years. That was when the child made a resolution to restart his studies. Just like how the grandmother made a goal for herself, he also decided to make a goal or himself. He returned back to school and his studies, and set up his goal. At that time, he became the most famous poet in China later on. People live their lives without a goal and instead of a goal, they are living according to their current situations. They are people who are so hasty and wondering without setting up a goal. When you do this, people quit in life. What was important was that Abraham held onto the covenant and waited for 25 years. Think about this. What is your goal? From this message, may you find and discover your goal once again. Today’s message is really important.
1. Priest Melchizedek
1) The Blessings of Abraham
Verse 1 - This scripture is talking about Melchizedek. Melchizedek was considered the priest of the Most High God. The region of Canaan was considered a poor nation with a lot of idol worshipping happening but there was a priest that was serving God. This priest appeared. The priest that appeared was a priest that met Abraham retiring from the slaughter of the kings. Abraham went into war.
Genesis 14:17-18, 20 (“17 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley), after his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him. 18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. 20 And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand. And he gave him a tithe of all.”) - The four kings lost against Abraham and taken as captives. They lost all of their belongings and their people were held as prisoners. Since they were held as prisoners, they had to live as slaves. Not only that but Lot was taken as a captive, this became a crisis for Abraham. When Abraham heard this, he became so angry that he took his army of 300 men to attack and bring back his new-grew, Lot. Even though he only had 300 men but he was able to defeat the four kings despite how impossible it looked. It said within he scripture that Abraham slaughtered all of the 4 kings. The 4 kings were slaughtered by Abraham. Abraham was able to have great victory and he was able to possess all of their belongings and wealth.
Genesis 14:17 - This great King of Sodom came to confront Abraham even when Abraham only had 300 men. But Melchizedek bought out bread and wine as the king of Salem to meet with Abraham.
At that time, the content of blessings that Melchizedek gave to Abraham is known in Genesis 14:20. Abraham was able to win because it was not because of his own power but it was God who was with him who allowed him to win this war. Melchizedek was declaring this to Abraham. All of the land of Canaan, Melchizedek was proclaiming that God allowed Abraham to have victory in front of the kings of the land of Canaan that was an idol worshipping land. This land of Canaan was completely destroyed and many people died but Melchizedek said that it was God who allowed the enemies to fall into the hands of Abraham. This was what Melchizedek was proclaiming to Abraham. Melchizedek was proclaiming this in front of all of the kings and the people of all the nations.
2) God's repeated promise
Verse 2 - Melchizedek translated means the king of righteousness. The king of Salem meaning the king of peace. Melchizedek means the king of righteousness and the king of peace. When you look at the Bible, the king of righteousness and king of peace is God alone. Melchizedek bought out wine and bread, this means that God was blessing Abraham. At that time, Abraham gave a tenth of all of his possessions after he heard the word of blessings from Melchizedek. What is important is that Abraham just gave a tenth of everything that he won as a king and out of his victory within war. The fact that he gave tithe means that he was confessing that God was His Lord and Master. Abraham was confessing that God was the one who allowed him victory within this war. Abraham was confessing that everything belongs to God and he was recognizing this by giving tithe. The fact that he was giving tithe before all of the people, this was him showing his faith and giving glory to God.
Genesis 14:21 (“Now the king of Sodom said to Abram, 'Give me the persons, and take the goods for yourself.' ”) - This is referring to the people who are his people so the king was saying to take everything else. This was because Abraham won. Abraham had the power to take everything that he wanted. If you look at it differently, he became the greatest king within the land of Canaan at that time since he defeated four kings. The fact that he won the war was because God made it possible. In order to raise up Abraham, he allowed this war to break out so that he could show before all the people of Canaan that God was the one who raised up Abraham and he is the leader of all the land. Through the descendants, there were the rulers of all of the land of Canaan. All of the situations and incidents that arise within our lives happen because there is God’s absolute plan within them. Then, what kind of life did Abraham live?
2. Absolute Covenant
1) The Identity of Melchizedek
Verse 3 - Melchizedek bought wine and bread before Abraham then what kind of person was Melchizedek then? Abraham Lincoln said that Melchizedek was the son of Noah. Shem, Noah’s son, lived for 600 years. When you look in the Bible, after Noah’s death, Shem lived an additional 35 years. He received Noah’s blessing and lived in the tabernacle and served as the high priest. It was written in the Bible that as soon as Abraham saw Melchizedek, he took a tenth of his possessions and gave it to Melchizedek. But Calvin declared something else. In the Bible, there is no recording of Shem being Melchizedek. If you say that Melchizedek is the Shem then we are interpreting the Bible with our own human interpretation. If Melchizedek was Shem, then the Bible would’ve written, Melchizedek, the son of Noah. Therefore, Calvin said that we need to interpret the Bible as it is. We need to interpret the Bible the best we can and things we can’t understand, we need to lie it as it is. If the Bible says that Melchizedek has no mother, father, and genealogy then we need to accept it as it is. Then, why did this person Melchizedek appear out of nowhere and blessed Abraham? Think about this carefully. Why did Melchizedek appear and bless Abraham? The important thing is that Abraham was within the absolute plan of God. We need to hold onto this. What was the reason why Abraham was blessed?
2) The One Who is Inside the Absolute Plan
God promised Abraham that if he entered into the land of Canaan, he will be blessed. Abraham held onto this covenant and the evidence of him holding onto this covenant was when it was written in Genesis 12:4, 17 (“So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. 17 But the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.”) - Abraham left everything behind and went towards the land of Canaan. This was the moment when Abraham held onto God’s covenant. Abraham was blessed when he left everything behind and entered into the land of Canaan. This is very important.
Genesis 12:17 - He deceived people by lying saying that his wife was his sister in order to avoid death from Pharaoh. When Pharaoh heard this, he wanted to make Sarai his wife. But there was a problem. God appeared before Pharaoh and cast a curse upon Pharaoh. Instead of putting a curse upon Abraham who lied, he punished the Pharaoh instead. What does this mean? The greatest person that has God’s most concern is the one who holds onto God’s covenant.
Genesis 14:14 (“Now when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.”) - He won the war against four kings with just 318 men. Does this make sense? But Abraham did win. How did he win? God won the war for him. Why did this happen? Because Abraham couldn’t die and he was the one who was inside God’s absolute plan and covenant. When you are inside the covenant, God will fight for you. Believe in this. You must hold onto the covenant of God.
I will give you an example of Job who was living in the same era of Abraham. And many other great individuals were living in the same time frame of Abraham and they all had great faith, and may have had greater faith than Abraham. But the people who had great faith, they couldn’t be part of the genealogy of blessings. Why was that? This was because they weren’t inside the absolute covenant. God had an absolute plan within the land of Canaan.
3. The Blessings of the Absolute Covenant
1) The Salvation of the Absolute Covenant
Abraham entered into the absolute plan of God and entered into the land of Canaan. He held onto the absolute covenant of God and entered into the land of Canaan. Even though Abraham was lacking and made many mistakes but God continued to raise up Abraham. Why was that? He was inside the covenant. Are you inside the covenant. The fact that you are inside the covenant, that is a tremendous blessing. Then, what is the source of the absolute covenant? It is Jesus Christ alone. Everything is fulfilled through Jesus Christ.
Melchizedek is mentioned again by King David in Psalm 110:4 (“The Lord has sworn And will not relent, 'You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.’ ”) - When Jesus Christ arrives on Earth, He will arrive through the order of Melchizedek. This Melchizedek was higher than the genealogy of Aaron. He will come through the genealogy of God. He is the priest of the Most High God. This is the covenant that God has given to this. Through this covenant, we have been forgiven our four sins eternally.
2 Samuel 7:16 (“Your house and Your kingdom will endure forever before me; Your throne will be established forever.”) - This was what was spoken to King David. The eternal king will come to stay as Jesus Christ as the eternal king of all kings. This is the source of the covenant.
Isaiah 7:14 (“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”) - In order to solve the problems of mankind, he came as the True Priest onto this Earth in human flesh. This is the absolute covenant. This absolute covenant is everything and is Jesus Christ. When Jesus Chirst came to this earth, He solved all of the problems of mankind. Hold onto the absolute covenant. Truly hold onto this. it is so precious that we are able to hold onto the absolute covenant. There is a tremendous difference between those who hold onto the absolute covenant and those who don’t. We are in tremendous blessings, you don’t know how blessed you are. We need to enjoy the tremendous blessing so fit absolute covenant. Then, you will realize how blessed you are as the one who holds onto the absolute covenant just like Abraham. This is the core message of the headquarters message.
2) The mystery of enjoyment
You will have problems within your life but whatever problem it is, don’t try to solve it on your own. The problems that you have, will you be able to solve them? The problem of Coronavirus, the whole world is kneeling before this problem. Todays’ scripture says that we should not solve the problems on our own. Then, what must we do? Come before God. When we come before God, then God will solve it. We know the story of the prodigal son. The son was completely failed but when the son’s problems become solved? When he appeared before his father in his worst and demolished state. The method to solve problems is when we come before God with our problems. When you try to solve your problems on your own, you will go crazy. When you go before God, then that problem will immediately be solved. Remember this.
Hold onto only the covenant. In other words, seek after only God. When you have prayer topics, d not’ have your own prayer topics. What will you do with your own prayer topics? Just enjoy the word of God. Just enjoy the word hat god gives you. What is absolute is that when you look at the Bible, God did not give you prayer topics. There was one thing that Jesus told us to seek after and that was to seek after only the filling of HS. When we seek after only God, then the filling of the Holy Spirit will come upon you. It is so easy. There is nothing for us to try to make this complicated. If God is with you, then that is it.
Third point, entrust everything before God and hold onto only Christ, then God will give us prayer topics that we need to pray with. The prayer topics that we make or prayer topics we find through situations but it is prayer topics that God wants us to pray with. This is our mission. When God gives us missions, He is saying for us not to do it with our own strength but will be fulfilled through the Holy Spirit. We can see God’s Word being fulfilled through our lives when we make it into our mission. Daniel’s three friends did not plead for God to save them during their point of death. All they did was entrusted everything to God and had faith that God will save them. Even if God didn’t save them, it didn’t matter to them. It was God who needed to work and not something that they had to do. They were able to give glory to God when they followed God's direction. This is the blessing that God wants to give you. You need to entrust everything to God. Enjoy these blessings. The answer of all answers is 24 hours. What is the answer of 24 hours? It is the work of God being with you. It is when God works within your field and your life. That is why we must always hold onto 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (“Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”). Receive answers. We need to just give thanksgiving.
The 5th answer comes to us. Something that we don't expect will come to us. That is the answer of 25 hours and eternity. The kingdom of God will come upon you. What is important is that it is not something that we do but it is God who is working.
Jeremiah 33:2 (“This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it—the Lord is his name.”) - Abraham went out to war but it was God who did everything and won the war. God moved everything so that His plan will absolutely be fulfilled. Then, what needs to be manifested within our life is not our goals but God will work so that 25 hours will appear in our lives. These 5 things are the five absolute covenants that we must enjoy. Those who live a true life, these are the covenants and answers that they are enjoying. In other words, this is the mystery of those who are within the absolute covenant. These are the absolute answers that will come to you. Truly receive answers. You need to enter into 24 hour prayer.
Conclusion
We need to hold onto the absolute mission. It is Acts 1:8 (“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”) - This is the absolute covenant. God will absolutely guide us perfectly. What we must do is pray for the evangelization of 237 nations. Through me, pray that God will bless you so that you can evangelize to 237 nations. This is the prayer that will make God most happy. May you enjoy the answers of 24, 25, and eternity and answers that have no choice but to come to you.
