절대목표와 전문합숙(히6:13-16)
서론
제가 중학교를 다닐 때 충격을 받은 사건이 있었다. 선생님이 아버지의 수억개나 되는 정자 중 딱 하나가 엄마의 난자 속에 들어가서 내가 되었다는 사실이었다. 그 이야기를 처음 듣고는 충격을 받았다. 반에 있는 친구 한 명이 선생님께 질문했다. 만일 내가 들어가지 않고 다른 정자가 들어갔으면 어떻게 되었습니까? 그러니까 그 선생님이 그러면 너는 이 세상에 존재하지 않았을 것이라고 했다. 저는 그 이야기를 듣고 굉장히 충격을 받았다. 어떻게 수억마리나 되는 정자 중에서 내가 들어갔을까. 그것을 보면서 내가 태어난 것 자체가 기적이라는 생각을 했다. 예수를 믿다보니까 세상에는 수많은 종교가 있는 것을 보게된다. 수십억이나 되는 사람들이 자기 생명의 길인줄 알고 찾아가서 믿고 절한다. 그것을 보고 내가 어떻게 예수를 믿게 되었지 생각해보았다. 나는 아침에 일어나서 기도할 때 마다 내가 예수를 믿게 된게 기적이라는 생각이 든다. 정말 하나님의 은혜라는 마음이 든다. 그런데 기적 중에 또 기적이 일어났다. 기도할 때 마다 느껴지는 것이 내가 어떻게해서 복음 안에 있게 되었지 하는 것이다. 복음 안에 있다는 것 자체가 기적 중에 기적이라는 생각이 든다. LA에 있는 목사님은 목사가 언약잡았다는 것은 길 가다가 벼락 맞는 것보다 더 기적이라 했다. 정말 내가 언약 안에 있다는 것 자체가 기적 중에 기적이라는 생각에 매일 매일 하나님께 감사하고 있다. 특히 감사한 것은 내가 절대 언약 안에서 살고있다는 것 자체가 기적이다. 절대 언약 안에서 산다는 것이 뭐가 그렇게 큰 은혜인가. 그 안에 사는 사람만 알 수 있다. 내가 매일 아침에 일어나서 감사하는 것이 이 내용이다. 오늘 말씀에도 아주 중요한 말씀을 주고계신다.
1. 하나님의 맹세
1) 맹세의 의미
히 6:13 하나님이 아브라함에게 약속하실 때에 가리켜 맹세할 자가 자기보다 더 큰 이가 없으므로 자기를 가리켜 맹세하여
사람들은 많이 맹세하고 있다. 보통 불신자들은 내가 하늘을 두고 맹세한다는 이야기를 한다. 우리 예수 믿는 사람들은 하나님 앞에서 맹세한다고 이야기한다. 우리가 결혼할 때나 미국 대통령 취임식 할 때 보면 자기 손을 성경 위에 얹고 선서를 한다. 그 성경은 하나님을 상징하기 때문에 하나님 앞에서 맹세한다는 의미이다. 또 손을 들고 선서를 한다. 이것은 하나님을 향해서 맹세하는 것이다. 더 확실한 맹세가 있다. 세 손가락은 위로 향하게 하고 나머지 두 손가락은 아래를 향하게 해서 맹세하는 것이다. 이 세 손가락은 성삼위 하나님을 의미한다. 밑에 두개는 몸과 영혼을 향해서 한다는 의미가 있다. 이것은 만일 내가 위반할 때는 내 몸과 영혼에 어떤 벌을 내려줘도 좋습니다 하는 것이다. 자기의 진실함과 확실함을 나타낸다. 오늘 말씀에 하나님은 어떻게 맹세하시는가.
2) 하나님의 맹세
하나님은 하나님보다 높은 분이 없기 때문에 자신을 가리켜서 맹세하신다. 하나님의 맹세를 보게되면 창 12:1-3에서 알 수 있다.
창 12:1-3 여호와께서 아브람에게 이르시되 너는 너의 본토 친척 아비 집을 떠나 내가 네게 지시할 땅으로 가라. 2 내가 너로 큰 민족을 이루고 네게 복을 주어 네 이름을 창대케 하리니 너는 복의 근원이 될찌라. 3 너를 축복하는 자에게는 내가 복을 내리고 너를 저주하는 자에게는 내가 저주하리니 땅의 모든 족속이 너를 인하여 복을 얻을 것이니라 하신지라
아브라함에게 주신 말씀에 네가 갈대아 땅에 가기만 하면 이 축복을 주겠다 하시는 약속이다. 그런데 이것은 아브라함 뿐 아니라 그 후손, 믿는 모든 자에게 적용된다. 하나님께 나아오는 자는 누구든지 받는 것이 이 축복이다. 예수 그리스도를 믿는 자는 누구든지 그를 저주하게 되면 예수님을 저주하는 것이기 때문에 하나님께서 가만두시지 않는 것이다. 그래서 형제를 욕하지 말라는 것은 그 안에 예수님이 계시기 때문이다. 그래서 이 세상에 예수님을 영접한 하나님 자녀는 다 이 축복을 누릴 수 있다. 그런데 14절 말씀에 다른게 나온다.
히 6:14 이르시되 내가 반드시 너에게 복 주고 복 주며 너를 번성하게 하고 번성하게 하리라 하셨더니
창 22:17-18 말씀을 요약한 것이다. 이 말씀을 자세히 보게되면 너에게 복을 한 번만 주는 것이 아니라 주고 또 주는 것이다. 번성을 두 번이나 강조해서 이야기했다. 내가 너에게 최고의 복을 내려주고 번성하게 하겠다는 약속의 말씀이다. 14절에 나타난 이 맹세는 특별한, 보장된 하나님의 절대언약이다. 우리가 하나님의 축복을 받더라도 하나님이 맹세해서 주시는 이 축복을 받아야될 줄로 믿는다. 아브라함은 어떻게 이 축복을 받게 되었는가.
2. 하나님의 절대목표
1) 맹세하신 이유
히 6:15 그가 이같이 오래 참아 약속을 받았느니라
아브라함은 참 오래 참은 사람 중에 한 명이다. 갈대아 우르에서 가나안 땅까지 왔다. 가나안에 와서도 25년 동안을 참고 기다리면서 100세가 되서야 비로소 아들을 낳았다. 이제 좀 응답 받았다 하는데 하나님께서는 네 아들을 나에게 번제물로 바치라고 하신다. 그 때 얼마나 아브라함이 충격을 받았겠는가. 아마 우리가 생각하기는 큰 절망과 많은 고민을 했을 것 같다. 그런데 성경을 보게되면 아브라함이 고민했다던지 절망했다는 이야기가 없다. 히브리서 보게되면 하나님께서 자기에게 주신 언약, 이삭을 통해서 많은 후손을 주시리라는 언약은 반드시 이루어질 것이라는 믿음을 갖고 있었다. 내가 만일 아들을 죽인다고 하더라도 하나님께서 반드시 살려주실 것이라는 믿음이 있었다. 그래서 저 모리아 산에 끌고가서 나무 재단을 쌓는다. 그래서 제물 대신에 아들을 올려놓았다. 실질적으로 목을 쳐서 죽이려고 칼을 들었다. 칠려고 하는 그 순간에 하나님께서 아브라함을 부르면서 손대지 말라고 명령하신다. 그 소리를 듣고 둘러보니까 눈에 띄는 것이 양이 뿔이 수풀에 걸려서 있었다. 그래서 자기 아들을 내려놓고 그 양을 대신 희생물로 드린다. 이것은 아주 중요한 의미를 갖고있다. 아브라함이 이삭을 제단위에 올려놨다. 제물을 올려놓을 때 까지도 가만히 계셨다. 칼을 들었다. 정말로 죽이려고 하는 것이다. 그 모습을 보면서 하나님께서 놀라서 하지 말라고 하셨다. 그리고 대신에 희생양을 준비하셨다. 이것은 무엇을 이야기하는가. 하나님께서는 이삭의 생명을 제물로 받으셨다. 칼로 목을 치지 않았지만 그 믿음을 보면서 너는 이미 네 아들을 내게 바쳤다 하시는 것이다. 이삭 대신에 양을 희생물로 드린다. 그 제단에서 내려온 이삭은 새로운 삶을 사는 시작이 되었다. 그 희생양 때문에, 그리스도 때문에 다시 살 수 있게 된 것이다. 성경에 기록되지 않았지만 그 현장에 있던 아브라함은 얼마나 기뻤겠는가. 하나님께서 내 아들을 살려주셨구나 하는 것을 깨달았을때 얼마나 큰 기쁨이었겠는가. 그런데 성경에는 아브라함의 믿음을 보시면서 더 엄청난 축복을 주시는데 또 다른 자손을 아브라함에게 허락해주셨다. 네 후손을 통해서 희생양 되는 그리스도를 보내주겠다는 약속이었다. 아브라함이 그것을 깨달았을 때 얼마나 큰 기쁨이 넘쳤겠는가. 이 장면을 예수님께서는 요 8:56에서 말씀하신다.
요 8:56 너희 조상 아브라함은 나의 때 볼 것을 즐거워하다가 보고 기뻐하였느니라
이삭을 살린 그 희생양의 비밀을 바라보면서 기뻐했다는 것이다. 분명히 예수님께서 말씀하시기를 즐거워하다가 보고 기뻐하셨다고 하셨다. 희생양을 보고 그리스도를 발견한 것이다. 내 후손을 통해서 이런 어마어마한 그리스도가 나와서 이 문제를 해결하시는구나 하는 것을 알게된 것이다. 나의 때에 볼 것을 즐거워하다가 보고 기뻐하였느니라. 아브라함이 받은 축복이 어마어마하다. 히 6:14절 말씀이 성취된 것이다. 이 아브라함의 오직의 믿음을 보시면서 복을 주시는데 육신의 복 뿐만 아니라 영적인 복까지 주신 것이다. 실질적으로 아브라함은 육신적으로도 많은 후손을 두었다. 뿐만 아니라 영적인 후손도 어마어마하게 많이 두었다. 어떻게해서 이런 축복을 받게 되었는가. 절대 언약의 축복을 붙잡고 있었던 것이다. 반드시 언약은 성취될 것이라는 것을 잡았던 것이다. 이 언약 잡는 것이 얼마나 중요한지 모른다.
2) 절대언약
지금 우리가 잡고 있는 절대언약이 그것이다.
창 22:18 또 네 씨로 말미암아 천하 만민이 복을 얻으리니 이는 네가 나의 말을 준행하 였음이니라 하셨다 하니라
그리스도로 말미암아 천하만민이 구원받을 것이라는 말이다. 믿는 모든 사람들이 구원받는 다는 말이다.
창 22:14 아브라함이 그 땅 이름을 여호와 이레라 하였으므로 오늘날까지 사람들이 이르기를 여호와의 산에서 준비되리라 하더라
이삭을 죽음 가운데서 건져내신 것 처럼 인간의 죽음 문제를 해결하실 희생제물 되신 그리스도가 준비되리라는 것이다. 아브라함은 이 언약을 확실히 붙잡고 있었다.
창 22:17 내가 네게 큰 복을 주고 네 씨가 크게 번성하여 하늘의 별과 같고 바닷가의 모래와 같게 하리니 네 씨가 그 대적의 성문을 차지하리라
여기서 네 씨는 이삭을 이야기하는 것이 아니다. 그리스도를 나타낸다. 그리스도의 십자가를 통해서 대적의 성문을 차지하리라. 마귀의 세력을 무너뜨릴 것이다. 이 언약을 잡으시기 바란다. 바로 이것이 창 3:15 말씀이 성취되는 것이다. 예수님의 십자가를 통해서 사단의 세력이 완전히 꺾였다. 그래서 우리는 걱정할게 아무것도 없다. 아브라함처럼 여러분이 이 언약을 잡게될 때 모든 흑암이 무너질 줄로 믿는다.
3. 절대목표와 전문합숙
1) 절대목표
히 6:16 사람들은 자기보다 더 큰 자를 가리켜 맹세하나니 맹세는 그들이 다투는 모든 일의 최후 확정이니라
우리가 맹세한다 했을 때는 모든 것이 끝이라는 것이다. 하나님께서 맹세하신 것이다. 하나님께서 맹세하셨다는 것은 최후 확정이라는 것이다. 하나님의 절대 목표가 무엇인가. 사람을 살리는 것이다. 우리 전도자는 이것을 꼭 잡아야한다. 하나님의 절대적인 목표는 사람 살리는 것이다. 우리 전도자가 잡아야할 키는 무엇인가. 오직 그리스도이다. 오직 그리스도이다. 오직 그리스도, 하나님 나라, 성령충만함을 잡는 것이다. 이 가운데서 제일 먼저 잡아야할 것이 오직이다. 아브라함이 복에 복을 받은 이유가 오직을 붙잡은 것이다. 성경을 보더라도 성경은 모든 것에서 오직을 강조하고 있다. 창 3:15 오직 여호아의 후손을 통해서 뱀의 머리를 깬다고 하셨다. 창 6:14 보게되면 방주에 들어가야만이 산다고 이야기하고 있다. 방주는 그리스도를 나타낸다. 그리스도 안에 들어가야만 산다는 것이다. 사 7:14 동정녀 마리아를 통해서 문제가 해결될 것이라는 말이다. 마 16:16 주는 그리스도시요 살아계신 하나님의 아들이십니다. 예수님이 그리스도라는 언약을 붙잡는 순간에 문제가 해결된다. 승리하느냐 승리하지 않느냐는 오직을 잡느냐 안잡느냐에서 판결난다. 아브라함은 오직 때문에 그리스도의 축복을 받게된 것이다. 많은 사람들이 찬송하기를 아브라함의 후손인 예수님이 오셨다고 한다. 요셉도 보시기 바란다. 요셉의 삶도 오직이었다. 바로의 눈치보기위해 살지 않았다. 오직을 잡았을 때 애굽도 살리고 바로도 살리고 가족도 다 살렸다. 우리가 오직을 잡게되면 나 뿐만 아니라 다 살게되어있다. 우리는 하나님께 영광을 돌리지만 우리 자신이 큰 복을 받게되는 원인이 된다. 사도바울도 오직으로 복음을 전한 사람이다. 사도바울이 오직을 잡을 때 소아시아, 유럽, 로마를 점령하고 세계를 복음화하게 하셨다. 가장 큰 키가 무엇인가. 오직이다. 오직을 잡게되면 하나님 나라가 따라오게 되어있다. 그러면 재창조의 역사가 나타나게 되어있다. 모든 것을 버리고 오직을 잡게되면 그 때부터 하나님께서 역사하신다. 그러면 오직, 유일성 재창조의 여정은 어떻게 되는가.
2) 오직, 유일성, 재창조의 여정
하나님께서는 오직의 여정을 위해서 전문인을 쓰신다. 의사 누가는 데오빌로에게 누가복음과 사도행전을 써서 넘겨주었다. 하나님은 누가의 전문성을 사용하셨다. 그래서 언약의 여정 가운데 크게 쓰셨다. 여러분들에게 있는 전문성이 세계복음화의 가장 근본적인 축복의 원인이 될 줄로 믿는다. 경제인 가이오는 바울을 돕고 세계복음화에 쓰였다. 하나님의 절대 여정을 행하는 것은 인간의 힘으로 되는 것이 아니다. 단순히 가이오가 경제의 축복을 받아서 도울 수 있었다 하는 것은 큰 잘못된 것이다. 하나님의 절대 여정에 있는 사람들은 인간의 힘이 아닌 하나님의 힘과 능력으로 하게된다. 인간이 할 수 있는 것은 오직을 붙잡는 것이다. 모세를 보시기 바란다. 40세까지는 힘있고 젊고 지혜가 있는 사람이었다. 그런데 결국은 자기 지혜와 힘으로 하려고 했는데 실패했다. 육신의 힘은 진짜 힘이 아니라는 것이다. 하나님께서 언제 모세를 쓰셨는가. 힘이 다 빠졌을 때 80이 되서야 쓰셨다. 모세의 힘을 사용하신 것이 아니라 다른 힘을 주셨던 것이다. 우리가 받고 있는 전도합숙이 이 힘을 시스템으로 만드는 것이다. 이 오직을 통해서 각인, 뿌리, 체질이 바뀌게 된다. 왜 우리가 각인. 뿌리. 체질을 바꾸어야하는가. 우리 속에 있는 모든 인본주의를 버리고 오직을 찾게 하기 위함이다. 오직을 붙잡게되면 다른 힘이 나올 것이다. 그러면 목표가 무엇인가.
3) 오직, 유일성, 재창조의 목표
우리는 강대국을 살려야겠다. 중국, 러시아, 미국 전부다 사단에 붙잡혀있다. 분쟁과 전쟁 우상에 빠지게 만들고 있다. 이것을 살리는 것은 오직 그리스도, 하나님 나라, 성령충만 밖에 없다는 것이다. 창 45장에 보면 당대 막강했던 애굽에 요셉이 들어갔다. 하나님께서는 애굽을 바꾸기 위해서 요셉을 바로의 아버지를 세우고 애굽의 온 집의 주인으로 세우셨다. 오직을 갖고있는 요셉을 사용해서 그 나라를 변화시키셨다. 또 약소국을 살리는 것이다. 가난한 나라들은 전부다 의식주에 빠져있다. 먹고사는 것에 종노릇 하는 것이 살고있다. 우리는 생명의 빛을 거기에 비추어야겠다. 또 포로된 자를 살려야겠다. 포로는 육신의 포로도 있지만 영적인 포로도 있다. 자기가 포로된지도 모른다. 복음의 눈을 뜨게해서 그들을 살려야겠다. 우상의 종된 자를 또 살려야겠다. 많은 사람들은 자기가 우상을 섬기고있는지도 모르고 살고있다. 마귀의 종노릇하고 있는지도 모르고 살고있다. 이것 때문에 후대가 마귀의 종노릇 하게될 것도 모르고 살고있다. 자기가 우상숭배하면 자기 후대가 시달릴 것을 전혀 모르고 살고있다. 이들을 살려야겠다. 다섯번째로 유랑민족을 살리는 것이다. 많은 사람들이 살기위해서 떠돌아다닌다. 난민들도 있다. 돈을 찾아서 헤매고 돌아다닌다. 그 삶은 삶 자체가 저주받은 삶이다. 이들을 살리는 것이 우리의 사명이다. 우리가 올바른 눈을 뜨고 복음을 받아야겠다.
결론
롬 16:3-4 너희는 그리스도 예수 안에서 나의 동역자들인 브리스가와 아굴라에게 문안하라 그들은 내 목숨을 위하여 자기들의 목까지도 내놓았나니 나뿐 아니라 이방인의 모든 교회도 그들에게 감사하느니라
브리스가와 아굴라가 받은 축복에 대해서 이야기하고 있다. 복음을 위해서 목을 내놓았다고 이야기한다. 오직 복음만을 찾았다는 것이다. 이들이 얼마나 오직 복음만 찾았으면 나 뿐 아니라 이방의 모든 교회들도 그들에게 감사하느니라 했다. 모델적인 축복을 받은 중직자들이다. 하나님께서는 브리스길라 아굴라를 언약의 여정에 사용하시기 위해서 많은 것을 허락하셨다. 이들이 잡았던 것을 무엇인가. 오직. 오직 복음이다. 이렇게 될 때 하나님께서 맹세하시는 축복을 이들에게 허락해주셨다. 이 축복받는 여러분 되시기를 예수님 이름으로 축원한다.
The Absolute Goal and the Specialized Training (Hebrews 6:13-16)

“ 13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, 14 saying, 'Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.' 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 16 For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute. ”
Introduction
When I was attending junior high, there was a time I was so shocked. The teacher told me about how a child is born by where thousands of sperms enter into one egg and I was so shocked when I heard this. One of the students asked the teacher if another sperm could enter into the egg and what would happen? The teacher responded that you would’ve not existed in this world. When I thought about this, I realized that my birth and existence into this world was a miracle. Since I believed in Jesus, I was able to see that there were so many religions in this world and so many people stake their lives for that one particular religion. When I saw this, I realized how I could believe in Jesus? When I pray every morning, I always have the heart that it is a miracle that I am able to believe in Jesus. It is really a luck for me and I always realize this. The greatest miracle of all miracles is the fact that when I pray, I am able to realize that I am inside the gospel. The fact that I am in the gospel that is the greatest miracle of all miracles. There was a pastor in LA that said that a pastor who has the true gospel is like that one person getting struck by lightning. The fact that I am in the covenant, it is truly a miracle and I am thankful to God every single day. What I am so thankful for is that I am living inside the covenant and this is the greatest miracle of all miracles. The fact that I am living inside the absolute covenant, why is this a miracle? That is because only those who have life are able to enter into the absolute covenant. This is the content that I am praying with when I pray the prayer of thanksgiving. Today’s sermon is a very important message.
1. God's Oath
1) The meaning of oath
Verse 13 - Many people make an oath and say that they swear to the heavens above but those who believe in God, they say that they swear to God to show the absoluteness of their words. When we marry or when an individual gets inaugurated as president, they make an oath before the Bible, which means that they are making an oath before God. They raise their hand when they make an oath which means that they are swearing and making an oath to God. There is a greater oath you can make before God than this. This is an oath where you hold up three fingers which are referring to the Triune God and the two remaining fingers refer to the body and soul. What does this mean? You are making an oath that you are willing to give your body and soul to God. That is when you give you the confession that you are giving your soul and body to God. Then, how does God give an oath?
2) God's oath
Since there is no one greater than God, He makes an oath to Himself.
You can see God’s oath in Genesis 12:1-3 (“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”) - This was what was said to Abraham. This was the blessing that God promised Abraham as he was going to the promised land. This was not a blessing just given to Abraham but this was a message that was promised to all of the descendants of Abraham and those who held onto this promise. Anyone who comes to God is able to receive this blessing. Anyone who believes in God, since the Lord God abides within you, if anyone who curses then they will be cursed. When you curse your own brothers and sisters in Christ, then you are cursing God. That is why you need to be careful when you curse others. Those who are within Christ, these are the blessings that you possess.
Verse 14 - This was already a message that was already given to us in Genesis 22:17-18. If you look carefully at this scripture, God promised not just one blessing but He will pour down to us endless amounts of blessings. God said once again that He will bless and multiply us. This means that God will give us the greatest blessing and promise us the greatest blessing to multiply. The oath of Hebrews 6:14 is the greatest guarantee and oath that God has given to us. The fact that God promised to bless us, He made an oath to keep this promise. How did Abraham receive blessings?
2. God's Absolute Goal
1) The reason for the oath
Verse 15 - Abraham waited and endured for a long time with patience. He went to the promised land and waited for 25 years and then was able to bear a son. When he thought that he finally received his lifelong answer, God gave a command to Abraham to sacrifice his one and only son, Issac. Imagine how shocked Abraham was when he heard this and If this was you, imagine how much pondering you would’ve done or Abraham would’ve done. But when you look at the Bible, it doesn’t say anything about Abraham pondering or contemplating. In the book of Hebrews, it says that Abraham held onto the promise that God gave him, that through him, his generations will be as numerous as the sand on the seashore and as the stars in the night sky. Abraham had the absolute faith that even if he does sacrifice and kill his son, Issac, then God will absolutely resurrect Isaac. That is why Abraham prepares the altar and puts his son on top of it. But as he was about to kill his son and raised the knife, at that moment, God stops Abraham and commands him to stop. Abraham heard God’s voice and when he stopped, he found a ram that was stuck in the thickets by his horn. He takes his son down from the altar and lays the ram that God prepared to become the sacrifice. There is something important here that you must understand. It says here that Abraham put his son onto the altar as a sacrifice and when Abraham did, God didn’t say anything and allowed Abraham to continue. God was really shocked that Abraham actually obeyed Him and was about to kill his one and only son, Isaac. When God saw Abraham’s heart of absolute obedience, God prepared a sacrifice of Abraham. Why was this important? This means that God received and accepted Abraham’s sacrifice. Even though Abraham didn’t fully kill his son, God accepted Abraham’s faith that he was willing to sacrifice his one and only son, Isaac. Instead of Issac dying, God prepared a separate sacrifice for Abraham. Isaac who went down from the altar and this was the start for Isaac’s new life. Because of that sacrifice that was sacrificed on his behalf and because of Christ, Isaac was able to live. It is not recorded in the Bible but imagine how happy Abraham was. Abraham was able to realize that God saved his son. The Bible says that God saw Abraham’s faith and gave him a great blessing and prepared something tremendous for Abraham. It was the promise that God will prepare the Messiah through Abraham’s lineage. When Abraham heard this, imagine how happy he must have been.
This was recorded in John 8:56 (“Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.”) - This was the mystery of the blood sacrifice. Abraham rejoiced when a separate ram was prepared and when Abraham saw this, he rejoiced. The fact that he discovered the ram as a sacrifice, he was able to discover Christ. He realized that through his family line, Jesus Chirst will come and solve the fundamental problems of mankind. It said that Abraham rejoiced and was glad. The blessings given to Abraham were tremendous.
Verse 14 - This message was fulfilled. This is what it meant. Abraham had the faith of only and God saw this and gave him not only physical blessings but the blessing of all blessings. Realistically and physically speaking, he was able to bear many generations through him. How was Abraham the one to receive this blessing? He entered into the absolute covenant. He held onto the assurance that the covenant will absolutely be fulfilled through him. He realized that God’s word will never change. That is why it is so important to hold onto the covenant. The absolute covenant that we are holding onto is this.
2) The absolute covenant
Genesis 22:18 (“And through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed Me.”) - This is referring to the fact that all of the offspring of all nations of Abraham will be saved through him because Abraham believed in Jesus Christ. In other words, anyone who believes, they will be saved.
Genesis 22:14 (“And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, 'In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.' ”) - Just like God bought Isaac out of death, God prepared Jesus Christ who will die on our behalf as our ultimate sacrifice. This was the covenant that Abraham held onto and realized.
Genesis 22:17 (“Blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.”) - This is not referring to Isaac or Abraham but is referring to Christ. Through the cross, Jesus Christ, we will possess the gates of our enemies. Christ will destroy the power of the devil. Hold onto this covenant.
This is the fulfillment of the message of Genesis 3:15 (“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; he shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”). When Jesus Chirst died on the cross, He completely broke the powers of Satan. Anyone who believes in Christ, there is no need for you to worry. Just like Abraham who held onto the covenant, when you hold onto the covenant then all darkness will flee and be broken down.
3. The Absolute Goal and Specialized Training
1) The absolute goal
Verse 16 - When you say that you make an oath and swear to heaven, this means that that is the end. That is the end of all disputes. This is because you are making an oath before God. When God makes an oath, it will absolutely be fulfilled, that is the end of all disputes. What is God’s absolute goal? God’s absolute goal is to save mankind. We who are evangelists must hold onto this. God’s absolute goal is to save mankind. The key that we as evangelists must go out with is only Christ. It is only Christ. We are talking about only Christ, only the kingdom of God, and only by the filling of the Holy Spirit.
Through this, what we must hold onto first is only. The reason why Abraham received the blessing of all blessings was because he held onto only. When you look at the Bible, it emphasizes and speaks of only. In Genesis 3:15, it says that only the offspring of the woman will crush the head of the serpent.
In Genesis 6, it says only when you enter into the ark will you be saved. This ark was referring to Christ. When you enter into Christ, you will live.
Isaiah 7:14 (“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”) - Only through Christ born through the Virgin Mary will you be saved.
Matthew 16:16 (“Simon Peter answered and said, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' ”) - When you hold onto covenant of Jesus as the Christ, then all of your problems will be solved. How do you determine if you will live or not, it is if you enter into only or not. We have already discussed this but Abraham receive blessings because he entered into only. Many people praise Abraham because through his descendants, Jesus Christ came.
Look at Joseph, he held onto only as well. He didn’t live according through the standards of others but when he held onto only, he was able to save Egypt, the world, and his family. When we hold onto only Christ and only, then you will save not only yourself but everyone around you. Through the fruits that we bear, we will be able to bless our children.
Apostle Paul was the one who evangelized and proclaimed only Christ. Whenever he evangelized only Christ, God blessed him to become one of the greatest evangelists who evangelized to Asia, Rome, and the entire world. The greatest key was the fact that he had only. When you hold onto only, then the kingdom of God will come upon you. Then, the works of recreation will occur. When you hold onto Christ and lay everything down, then God will start working through your life. Then, what is the journey of the only, uniqueness, and recreation?
2) The journey of only, uniqueness, and re-creation
The journey of only, God uses His specialists. God used Luke to write the book of Acts as we can see in Acts 1:1 (“The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach.”). Luke used his profession to write out his journey. Your profession and specialty will be used as the greatest source of blessings for this world.
Gaius was able to use his profession and skill of finances to help Apostle Paul and people around him to carry out the life saving movement. The way to live within the absolute journey is not something you do with human strength. Gaius received financial blessings but this was not because Gaius was economically capable to do this but it was because he was used by God. These are the people who were within the absolute journey, they were able to go out to the world with the power of God, not with their own power. What we can only do as mankind is to go out with only.
Look at Moses. Until the age of 40, he possessed tremendous power. He was young and had great power but when he tried to do things with his own strength, he failed and crumbled. The problem was that his physical power was not the real power that he needed. When did God use Moses? He used Moses when he had no power left in him at the age of 80. God didn’t use the physical power of Moses but God’s own power to use Moses. The way to evangelize is to evangelize with the power that God gives. Through only and training, what changes inside of us is our imprints, roots, and nature.
Why must we change our imprints, roots, and nature? We need to discard everything and seek after only God. Hold onto this. When you hold onto only, then another source of power will appear through you. Why must the evangelists make this our goal?
3) The goal of only, uniqueness, and re-creation
We need to save the powerful nations. The powerful nations like Russia, China, and America, they are all bound by Satan. Wars and idolatry, Satan makes us fall into them. In order to save the powerful nations it is only through Acts 1:1, 3, and 8.
Genesis 45:8 (“So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.”) - In order to change Egypt, God did not use Pharaoh but used Moses. God used Moses who held onto only. God was able to full His promise through Moses. All people are bound by poverty and living as slaves, we need to show them the light of life and show them this is the reason why they must live. We must save people who are living as captives. Even though they may not be living as physical captives, they are being spiritually captivated. We need to help them open their spiritual eyes. Save those who are enslaved to idols. Many people are worshipping idols without knowing what they are doing and as a result, they are living a life enslaved to Satan while not knowing that they are living a life enslaved to Satan. They don’t know that their family and children are enslaved to Satan. They don’t know that if they worship idols, then their children will suffer. We need to save them.
The fifth thing, we need to save those who are wondering. In order to survive, they are wondering. Many people are wandering around like nomads. They are wandering around trying to find money and financial success. Their lives itself is a life of curse. We need to save them, this is our mission. We need to open our upright eyes and hang onto the gospel.
Conclusion
Romans 16:3-4 (“Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, 4 who risked their own necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.”) - We need to look at the blessings that Priscila and Aquila received. For the gospel, they staked their lives. This means that they sought after only the gospel. They sought after only the gospel so much that every gentile and church were thankful for them. They lived a life of being role model church officers. God used Priscila and Aquila for the covenantal journey and gave them tremendous blessings so that they can continue to live within this. What did they hold onto? They held onto only and only the gospel. They received the blessings of God’s oath. May you receive these blessings in the name of Jesus Christ.
