14 너희의 구속자요 이스라엘의 거룩한 이 여호와가 말하노라 너희를 위하여 내가 바벨론에 사람을 보내어 모든 갈대아 사람에게 자기들이 연락하던 배를 타고 도망하여 내려가게 하리라 15 나는 여호와 너희의 거룩한 이요 이스라엘의 창조자요 너희의 왕이니라 16 나 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 바다 가운데에 길을, 큰 물 가운데에 지름길을 내고 17 병거와 말과 군대의 용사를 이끌어 내어 그들이 일시에 엎드러져 일어나지 못하고 소멸하기를 꺼져가는 등불 같게 하였느니라 18 너희는 이전 일을 기억하지 말며 옛날 일을 생각하지 말라 19 보라 내가 새 일을 행하리니 이제 나타낼 것이라 너희가 그것을 알지 못하겠느냐 반드시 내가 광야에 길을 사막에 강을 내리니 20 장차 들짐승 곧 승냥이와 타조도 나를 존경할 것은 내가 광야에 물을, 사막에 강들을 내어 내 백성, 내가 택한 자에게 마시게 할 것임이라 21 이 백성은 내가 나를 위하여 지었나니 나를 찬송하게 하려 함이니라 22 그러나 야곱아 너는 나를 부르지 아니하였고 이스라엘아 너는 나를 괴롭게 여겼으며 23 네 번제의 양을 내게로 가져오지 아니하였고 네 제물로 나를 공경하지 아니하였느니라 나는 제물로 말미암아 너를 수고롭게 하지 아니하였고 유향으로 말미암아 너를 괴롭게 하지 아니하였거늘 24 너는 나를 위하여 돈으로 향품을 사지 아니하며 희생의 기름으로 나를 흡족하게 하지 아니하고 네 죄짐으로 나를 수고롭게 하며 네 죄악으로 나를 괴롭게 하였느니라 25 나 곧 나는 나를 위하여 네 허물을 도말하는 자니 네 죄를 기억하지 아니하리라 26 너는 나에게 기억이 나게 하라 우리가 함께 변론하자 너는 말하여 네가 의로움을 나타내라 27 네 시조가 범죄하였고 너의 교사들이 나를 배반하였나니 28 그러므로 내가 성소의 어른들을 욕되게 하며 야곱이 진멸 당하도록 내어 주며 이스라엘이 비방 거리가 되게 하리라. 서론
콜로라도 덴버에서 일어난 일이다. 길을 가던 사람이 길가에 차가 서있는것을 발견했다. 가까이 가보니 두사람이 정신을 잃고 쓰러져있었다. 자동차 문을 잠근 상태에 있다가 배기 가스의 일산화탄소가 스며들어 정신을 잃은것이다. 그렇게 발견한 사람이 경찰에 신고를했다. 구조대가 와서 창문을 깨고 둘에게 인공호흡을해 살려냈다. 그 다음날 기가 막힌 사건이 일어났다. 죽음에서 살아났던 청년이 청구서를 가지고 온것이다. 구조대가 자기 차에 창문을 깨트렸다고 그 수리비를 청구하러 온것이다. 참 못된 사람의 모습이다. 자기 살려준것을 감사하며 인사를 하지는 못할지언정 와서 수리비를 내놓으라 하는 모습이다. 이 모습이 우숩게 느껴지지만 어쩌면 우리가 이러한 모습의 신앙생활을 하며 살고있다. 이스라엘 백성들은 하나님께 구원 받고 택한 백성으로 엄청난 축복 받았음에도 불구하고 하나님을 배반하고 욕되게 했다. 지금도 얼마나 많은 사람들이 하나님 앞에 구원의 감사를 잊은채 교회와 하나님을 이용해 돈벌이를 하는지 모른다.
1. 성취될 새 구원 New salvation to be fulfilled
1) 하나님의 구원의 특징 Characteristics of God's salvation
사 Isaiah 43:14-17
오늘 본문의 내용이 바로 그러한 내용이다. 먼저 내용 보면 하나님은 어떠한 분이시다 하는것을 정확하게 우리에게 이야기하고 있다. 14절, “너희의 구속자요 이스라엘의 거룩한 이 여호와가 말하노라 너희를 위하여 내가 바벨론에 사람을 보내어 모든 갈대아 사람에게 자기들이 연락하던 배를 타고 도망하여 내려가게 하리라”. 이스라엘 백성들은 어떠한 사람들이었나. 죄로 인해 하나님께 진노를 받아 멀리 포로로 보내진 백성이다. 그런데 그 진노의 대상인 백성에게 하시는 말씀이 나는 너희의 구속자다 하시는것이다. 너희를 위하여 내가 바벨론에 사람을 보내어 모든 갈대아 사람에게 자기들이 연락하던 배를 타고 도망하여 내려가게 하리라. 바벨론의 배가 통곡의 배가 되게 하겠다 말씀하시는것이다. 왜 그렇나. 너희를 위해서 이다. 포로로 잡혀간 너희를 위해 그렇게 하겠다 말씀 하시는것이다. 이스라엘을 포로에서 해방시키기 위해 그렇게 하겠다 이 말씀이다. 당시 최대 강대국이었던 바벨론과 페르시아를 이용해서 조그마한 보이지도 않는, 멸망 당했던 이스라엘 나라를 해방 하시기로 하신것이다. 하나님께서는 당신의 백성을 구원시키기 위해 수단과 방법 가리지 않으신다. 그러면서 15절에, “나는 여호와 너희의 거룩한 이요 이스라엘의 창조자요 너희의 왕이니라” 라고 말씀 하신다. 나는 너희를 만든 창조자, 너의 왕, 너의 삶을 지켜주는 왕이다 라는 말씀이다. 하나님은 한번도 이스라엘 백성들을 떠난 적이 없으시다. 다시 말씀드리면 하나님이 우리를 단한번도 떠난적이 없으시다라는 사실을 기억해야한다. 내가 어떤 어려움을 당하더라도 하나님께서는 결코 나를 떠나신적이 없다. 그러면서 16절에 말씀 하신다, “나 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 바다 가운데에 길을, 큰 물 가운데에 지름길을 내고” 이것은 무엇을 이야기하나. 출애굽 당시에 이스라엘을 애굽으로부터 구해내신것을 말한다.
2) 더 큰 구원 The greater salvation
사 Isaiah 43:18-21

요 John 7:38
18절, “병거와 말과 군대의 용사를 이끌어 내어 그들이 일시에 엎드러져 일어나지 못하고 소멸하기를 꺼져가는 등불 같게 하였느니라” 당시 노예살이 하던 보잘것 없는 이스라엘백성을 구원하기 위해 그들을 끌어내어 홍해를 가르시고 육지로 만드셨다. 이 말씀 통해 하나님의 사랑을 느끼실수 있으신가. 하나님은 당신의 백성들을 절대 놓치지 않으신다 하신다. 자기 백성을 끔찍히도 사랑하시는 뜨거운 마음을 우리가 볼수 있다. 하나님이 18절에 이어서 말씀 하신다, “ 너희는 이전 일을 기억하지 말며 옛날 일을 생각하지 말라” 이스라엘 백성 향해 선포하신 말씀이다. 너희들, 어마어마한 홍해 사건 기억하느냐, 그런것 아무것도 아니니 옛날일이니 기억하지 말라 이 말씀이다. 왜? 앞으로 더 큰 구원이 너희에게 있을것이기 때문에. 그러면서 그 내용이 이어서 나온다, “보라 내가 새 일을 행하리니 이제 나타낼 것이라 너희가 그것을 알지 못하겠느냐 반드시 내가 광야에 길을 사막에 강을 내리니”. 옛날에 홍해 가르고 요단강을 가르고 여리고를 무너뜨리는 엄청난 사건들, 그것들은 다 아무것도 아니다 라는 말씀이다. 내가 너희가 겪어보지 못한 새 일을 행할것이다 하시며 말씀 하신다, “내가 광야에 길을 사막에 강을 내리니”. 그런데 역사에 보면 바벨론에서 돌아올때 광야에 길을 낸 일이 없고 사막에 강이 생긴 기록이 없다. 그렇다면 이것은 무엇을 의미하나. 새 일을 행하시겠다 하는 말은 무엇을 말하나. 광야의 길은 하나님 만나는 길을 여시겠다는 말이다. 사막에 강을 내시겠다는것은 새로운 생명의 강물을 내리시겠다는 말이다. 새로운 생명을 너희에게 허락하겠다 라는 말씀이다. 21절, “이 백성은 내가 나를 위하여 지었나니 나를 찬송하게 하려 함이니라”. 하나님께서 이 일을 이루시는 목적이 바로 찬송받기 위해서 라고 하시는것이다. 이 생명의 길 이라는것은 엄청난 예수 그리스도의 사역을 나타낸다. 출10:6에 보면 반석에서 물이 나온 내용이 나온다. 광야 시절에 모세가 광야에서 바위를 치니 물이 나온 사건이다. 여기서 물이 나온것은 단순한 기적이 아닌 새 생명을 부여받은 의미를 가지고 있다. 애굽의 모든 삶은 끝났다, 이제 새로운 삶이다 라는 의미인것이다. 요7:38에 예수님께서 말씀하시기를, “나를 믿는 자는 성경에 이름과 같이 그 배에서 생수의 강이 흘러나리라 하시니.” 예수님의 이름 통해 생수의 강이 흘러나는 축복을 받게되고 새로운 생명이 시작되는것을 나타내는것이다. 그래서 예수님께서 역사를 일으키신 것은 새로운 생명의 찬송하시기 위해 하신것이다. 하나님께서 우리를 구원시키신 목적이 뭔가. 우리를 찬송하게 하고 당신이 찬송 받으시기위해 지으셨다. 하나님께서 가장 기뻐하시는것은 우리와 임마누엘로 함께 하시며 축복 하실때 하나님의 은혜에 감사와 감격으로 고백하는것이다. 예배는 하나님께 감사와 찬송 드리는것이 예배인것이다. 이것을 하나님께서 최고로 기뻐 하신다. 여기서 같이 모여 하나님께 찬송과 영광 돌릴때 가장 기뻐하시고 은혜로 풍성히 채워주신다. 항상 마음속에 기도하시기를 하나님의 은혜를 감사하는 마음이 진심에서 우러나와야한다. 그런데 이스라엘에게 이러한 축복 주셨음에도 이스라엘 백성들은 누리지 못한것을 알아야겠다.
2. 새 구원을 가능케 하는 죄의 도말 Eradication of sin that makes new salvation possible
1) 이스라엘의 죄 Israel's sin
사 Isaiah 43:22-24
22절, “그러나 야곱아 너는 나를 부르지 아니하였고 이스라엘아 너는 나를 괴롭게 여겼으며”. 하나님께서 엄청난 축복을 주시고 홍해의 기적보다 더 큰 기적을 이루셨음에도 불구하고 그들은 감사가 없었던것이다. 창조주 하나님을 찾지 않고 자기의 왕을 찾지 않는것이다. 이에 하나님께서 탄식하시며 하는 말씀이, “이스라엘아 너는 나를 괴롭게 여겼으며”인것이다. 그 구체적 내용이 23절에 나온다, “네 번제의 양을 내게로 가져오지 아니하였고 네 제물로 나를 공경하지 아니하였느니라”. 이 사람들은 다시 구원 받아 포로에서 돌아와 성전을 지어 예배 드리는데 예물 드리는것을 아까워했다. 재물로 내를 공경하지 않았다 하는것이다. 재물을 드리는것도 귀찮아 하는 모습이다. 예배를 드리는 시간도 물질도 아깝게 느끼는것이다. 돈을 모아야 하는데 말이다. 주님께서 이에 탄식하며 말씀 하신다, “나는 제물로 말미암아 너를 수고롭게 하지 아니하였고 유향으로 말미암아 너를 괴롭게 하지 아니하였거늘”. 네가 낸 재물 통해 내가 욕심을 채우려 요구하는것이 아니다 라고 하시는것이다. 인간들이 착각하는 모습을 하나님이 말씀 하시는것이다. 24절, “너는 나를 위하여 돈으로 향품을 사지 아니하며 희생의 기름으로 나를 흡족하게 하지 아니하고”, 여기 희생의 기름이라는 말은 죄에 대한 것을 이야기 하는것이다. 죄를 용서해주시기 위해 제사와 예배를 허락하신것이다. 죄를 용서받고 축복 받고 은혜를 받게 하시기 위해 예배와 제사를 허락하신것인데 되려 부담을 느끼고 싫다 하며 앉아있는 모습니다. 그러면서 또 뭐라 말씀 하시나, “네 죄짐으로 나를 수고롭게 하며 네 죄악으로 나를 괴롭게 하였느니라”. 제사제도를 통해 용서함 받고 구원 받고 충만함을 누려야 되는데 오히려 부담을 느끼니 누리지 못하는것이다. 예배를 통해 온전한 죄사함과 복음속으로 들어가야되는데 그러지 못하니 자꾸 부담을 느끼고 눌리는것이다. 죄를 용서함 받고 영적인 깊은 교제가 이루어져야 하는데 그러지 못하는것이다. 24의 마지막 말씀이 중요한 이유이다, “네 죄짐으로 나를 수고롭게 하며 네 죄악으로 나를 괴롭게 하였느니라”. 예배를 드리면서도 계속해서 죄를 짓고 하니 하나님께서 축복을 주시지 못해 괴로운것이다. 우리가 드리는 십일조나 감사헌금, 선교헌금 이러한것들이 얼마나 중요한지 붙잡아야겠다.
2) 죄의 도말 Eradication of sin
사 Isaiah 43:25-28
25절, “나 곧 나는 나를 위하여 네 허물을 도말하는 자니 네 죄를 기억하지 아니하리라”. 네 죄악이 아무리 많다 한들 올바른 제사, 예배 드리면서 영광을 돌리면 모든 죄가 없어질것이다 하는것이다. 하나님이 우리를 구원해 주신것은 찬송을 받기 위함 이시기 때문에 참된 회개를 하면 용서를 해주시겠다 이 말이다. 26절, “ 너는 나에게 기억이 나게 하라 우리가 함께 변론하자 너는 말하여 네가 의로움을 나타내라”. 우리 한번 이야기 해보자, 네가 맞는지 내가 맞는지 터 놓고 토론해 보자 이 말씀이다. 네 의로움을 나타내봐라, 할말 있으면 해봐라 이 말이다. 하나님께서는 이스라엘에 탄식하면서 말씀하신다, 네 시조가 범죄하였고 너의 교사들이 나를 배반하였나니-- 네 시조들이 범죄하고 죄로 오염된것이 해결되지 않았으니 그대로 그 선조들까지도 죄에서 벗어나지 못하고 있다 라는 말이다. 믿음의 지도자들이 육신에 젖어 육신의 것만 가르치고 앉아있으니 배우는 사람이 그것밖에 모르는것이다. 예배 실패했던 이스라엘 백성들에게 28절에 말씀 하신다, “그러므로 내가 성소의 어른들을 욕되게 하며 야곱이 진멸 당하도록 내어 주며 이스라엘이 비방 거리가 되게 하리라.” 여기서 성소의 어른들은 제사장과 왕을 나타낸다. 그 사람들을 욕되게 하며 이스라엘 백성들을 진멸 당하게 하고 비방거리가 되게 한다 이 말씀이다. 이것이 예수님께서 죽음을 당하시고 부활하신 후에 AD 70년에 이스라엘 백성들이 완전히 멸망 당한다. 2000년 동안 유랑민이 되어 세계 곳곳으로 부터 비방과 핍박 받게 된다. 지금도 이스라엘 백성들은 전도자가 아닌 전도 대상자로 살고있다. 이런 축복 속에 들어오지 못한 사람들이다. 그러므로 우리는 우리의 기도의 비밀과 하나님의 능력을 붙잡아야겠다. 우리가 일곱가지 비밀을 지난시간과 금요예배 통해 들었다. 오늘은 다섯번째 미션이다. 우리가 이것을 정말 잘 붙잡아야겠다. 먼저 우리가 잡을 중요한것은, 사람을 보는 비밀을 깨닫는것이다. 구약의 이사야서에서도 이야기 했지만 분명히 하나님께서 원하시는 사람이 되어야겠다. 우리가 성경을 보면 하나님께서 원하시는 사람들이 누구인지 알수 있다. 하나님은 갈릴리 사람들을 부르셨다.
3. 기도의 비밀과 능력 The mystery and the power of prayer
1) 사람보는 비밀 The mystery knowing how to see people
갈릴리 사람들(막3:13) The Galileans (Mark 3:13)
어부 베드로(마16:16) Peter the fisherman (Matthew 16:16)
핍박자 바울(행9:15) Paul the persecutor (Acts 9:15)
막 3:13, “또 산에 오르사 자기가 원하는 자들을 부르시니 나아온지라.” 예수님께서 원하시는 사람들을 불렀다 나온다. 1장 11절 말씀 보면, “이르되 갈릴리 사람들아 어찌하여 서서 하늘을 쳐다보느냐 너희 가운데서 하늘로 올려지신 이 예수는 하늘로 가심을 본 그대로 오시리라” 하며 승천하시면서 말씀 하셨다. 500명의 성도가 예수님이 승천 하시는것을 봤는데 이들의 대부분이 갈릴리사람 이었다. 왜 갈릴리 사람들을 찾으셨나. 많은 사람들은 장사 하러 가고 자기 이득을 위해 살아가는데 갈릴리 사람들은 어려움 가운데서도 예수님 말씀을 듣기 위해 감람산으로 모인 사실이다. 그들은 세상것 보다 하나님 말씀을 더 사모한것을 알수가 있다. 그 중에서 베드로가 대표적인 인물이다. 마 16:16, “시몬 베드로가 대답하여 이르되 주는 그리스도시요 살아 계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다.” 고백한 사람이다. 그는 심령이 깨끗한 사람이었다. 성질이 급한지 안급한지 중요한게 아니라 마음이 깨끗한가 아닌가가 중요하다. 하나님은 또 바울같은 사람 쓰셨다. 그리스도를 핍박하던 사람이었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 행9:15, “주께서 이르시되 가라 이 사람은 내 이름을 이방인과 임금들과 이스라엘 자손들에게 전하기 위하여 택한 나의 그릇이라.” 바울을 우리가 잘 알지 않나. 이 사람들은 오직 하나님의 영광만을 위해 사는 사람들이었다. 그리스도를 핍박 할때도 율법이 하나님께 제일 영광이 되는줄 알고 잘못 알고 찾아갔던 사람이었다. 그런 그가 복음을 딱 받자 마자 아, 그리스도구나! 하며 오직 그리스도만 찾았다. 하나님께서는 그런 이들을 쓰신다. 또 잡을것은 그리스도의 비밀, 기도의 비밀과 능력 아는 자들이다.

기도의 비밀로 첫번째 잡을것은 기도의 흐름이다. 기도의 흐름이라 했을때 이해 잘 못할수가 있다. 기도에도 흐름이 있고 이에 따라 기도할때 응답 받을수 있다. 출2장에 요게벳의 기도 내용이 나온다, 요게벳이 응답 받은 기도는 모세를 왕궁으로 인도했다. 그 이유가 바로 출애굽을 가능하게 하시기 위해 하나님께서 허락 하신것이다. 또 이드로의 기도 내용이 나온다. 이드로는 모세에게 와서 10부장, 50부장, 100부장, 1000부장 같은 시스템을 만들었다. 이스라엘 족속들이 국가적 시스템을 갖출수 있게 도운 기도였다. 라합의 믿음과 기도 통해 가나안에 입성 할수 있게 허락하셨다. 이스라엘 백성들이 가나안 들어갈때 가장 중요했던 기도를 붙잡은 이가 라합 이었다. 한나의 기도 통해 이스라엘 백성들이 영적으로 하나가 된 일도 있었다. 이세의 기도를 통해 다윗이 골리앗을 쳐 이길수 있는 기회가 된것이다. 그것이 바로 다윗 왕국을 일으키는 기초가 된것이다. 오바댜를 통해서는 7,000 제자를 일으키게 된다. 이것은 바로 제자의 중요성을 이야기 한다. 다니엘의 기도 통해 이방 땅에서 빛을 발하고 하나님께 영광 돌리는 일이 이루어졌다. 행 1:14, “여자들과 예수의 어머니 마리아와 예수의 아우들과 더불어 마음을 같이하여 오로지 기도에 힘쓰더라” 이 기도를 통해 신약교회를 이루셨다. 행 13:1-3 안디옥 교회 기도 통해 세계 선교가 시작된것을 볼수있다. 기도의 비밀과 흐름이 뭔가. 바로 언약속에 있는 기도를 말한다. 언약 속의, 시대적인 흐름속에 기도를 드리는것이다. 그렇다면 지금 우리가 잡아야 할 언약의 흐름의 기도는 무엇인가. 237 나라 5,000 종족 세계복음화와 이들을 살리는 언약의 흐름이다. 이때 하나님의 능력의 역사가 일어날것이다. 기도의 제목을 분명히 잡으시기를 바란다. 두번째 중요한것은 기도의 비밀의 통로가 있는것이다. 우리는 전도자와 전도자를 돕는 축복 속에 들어가야한다. 롬16장 보면 이러한 사람들이 나온다, “내가 겐그레아 교회의 일꾼으로 있는 우리 자매 뵈뵈를 너희에게 추천하노니 2 너희는 주 안에서 성도들의 합당한 예절로 그를 영접하고 무엇이든지 그에게 소용되는 바를 도와 줄지니 이는 그가 여러 사람과 나의 보호자가 되었음이라 3 너희는 그리스도 예수 안에서 나의 동역자들인 브리스가와 아굴라에게 문안하라.” 사랑하는자 암브리아, 식주인 가이오가 나온다. 오직 전도에 방향 맞춘 사들이다. 사도바울 뿐만 아니라 전도자에게 가장 큰 도움이 된 사람들이다. 237의 실질적 핵심 전도자들이 이들이었다. 이 사람들이 아니면 세계복음화를 이룰수가 없었다. 다니엘서 12:3절 이다, “지혜 있는 자는 궁창의 빛과 같이 빛날 것이요 많은 사람을 옳은데로 돌아오게 한 자는 별과 같이 영원 토록 비취리라.” 누구를 이야기하나. 전도자와 동역자, 현장에 있는 사람들이다. 이 축복 받는 여러분 되시기를 바란다. 세번째로 기도의 내용을 붙잡아야겠다. 기도에 내용이 있어야한다. 지난 시간과 마찬가지로 망대를 세우는것이다. 먼저 플렛폼을 만들어야겠다. 창2:7, 오직 생명을 누리는것을 붙잡아야겠다. 생기를 내가 붙잡고 시작 하는것이다. 두번째는 파수대 이다. 행1:4, “사도와 함께 모이사 그들에게 분부하여 이르시되 예루살렘을 떠나지 말고 내게서 들은 바 아버지께서 약속하신 것을 기다리라.” 하나님 주신 말씀 붙잡고 기도속으로 들어가는것이 기다리는것이다. 유일하신 하나님의 말씀 붙잡고집중 하는것이다. 세번째는 안테나이다. 행5:42, “저희가 날마다 성전에 있든지 집에 있든지 예수는 그리스도라 가르치기와 전도하기를 쉬지 아니하니라.” 하나님과 깊은 기도 통해 만나는 사람들에게 그리스도 증거하는 축복의 역사를 체험 해야겠다. 하나님과 깊은 기도 소통 통해 능력을 입으시기를 바란다. 이럴때 영적 재창조의 역사가 여러분 통해 일어날줄 믿는다. 237 온세상 살리는 축복의 역사 일어날줄 믿는다.
결론 Conclusion
롬 Romans 1:9
말씀 맺겠다, 로마서 1:9 잡으시라, “내가 그의 아들의 복음 안에서 내 심령으로 섬기는 하나님이 나의 증인이 되시거니와 항상 내 기도에 쉬지 않고 너희를 말하며.” 항상 그리스도의 복음 안에 있어야겠다. 237 언약 잡고 쉬지 않고 기도하는 우리가 되어야겠다. 하나님께서 여러분께 주신 말씀의 응답이 나타날줄 믿는다.

“14 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: 'For your sake I will send to Babylon, And bring them all down as fugitives-- The Chaldeans, who rejoice in their ships. 15 I am the Lord, your Holy One, The Creator of Israel, your King.' 16 Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea And a path through the mighty waters, 17 Who brings forth the chariot and horse, The army and the power (They shall lie down together, they shall not rise; They are extinguished, they are quenched like a wick): 18 'Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert. 20 The beast of the field will honor Me, The jackals and the ostriches, Because I give waters in the wilderness And rivers in the desert, To give drink to My people, My chosen. 21 This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise. 22 ‘But you have not called upon Me, O Jacob; And you have been weary of Me, O Israel. 23 You have not brought Me the sheep for your burnt offerings, Nor have you honored Me with your sacrifices. I have not caused you to serve with grain offerings, Nor wearied you with incense. 24 You have bought Me no sweet cane with money, Nor have you satisfied Me with the fat of your sacrifices; But you have burdened Me with your sins, You have wearied Me with your iniquities.' 25 'I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins. 26 Put Me in remembrance; Let us contend together; State your case, that you may be acquitted. 27 Your first father sinned, And your mediators have transgressed against Me. 28 Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary; I will give Jacob to the curse, And Israel to reproaches.' ”
Introduction
In Colorado, Denver something occurred. Someone was walking along the road and discovered a woman stuck in her car. He discovered a man and woman inside the car passed out and they had lost consciousness. When he saw them in the car unconscious, he called the police. The rescuers came and broke down the window, and revived them. But something happened the day after that caused confusion. The next day, the couple that were rescued from the car, they came back with their bill. They were mad that their car window was broken and sued the rescuers. These people were very wicked and evil minded. They weren’t even thankful that they were saved and just demanded money for their broken window. When they look at these people, they may seem obscure but we may be living our Christian walk of faith like this as well. The Israelites were blessed tremendously by God but yet, they kept sinning against God. Many people of this world are supposed to give glory and praise to God but instead, they use God for their own benefits and live a very selfish life before God. Today’s main Biblical Scripture speaks about this and also speaks about who God is.
1. New Salvation to be Fulfilled
1) Characteristics of God's salvation
Verses 14-17 - The Israelites who were they? They sinned against God so God’s wrath came upon them, and as a result, they fell into captivity by other nations. We can see that God’s wrath came upon them but it said that God called Himself their redeemer. God said that He has done all of this for them. He promised that He will destroy Babylon for them. God said that He will destroy Babylon through their own destruction. God did all of this for the Israelites, the Israelites who fell into captivity. In order to save the Israelites from captivity, God destroyed Babylon through Persia. At that time, Babylon was a great nation as well as Persia. God used Persia to destroy Babylon to just save the Israelites who were seen as a small nation back then. In order to save His people, God will use any method.
That is why God said in verse 15 - God said that He is their Creator and King, and because of that, He is responsible for them. God never left the Israelites, not even for a moment. This means that God has never left us nor abandoned us. Even if we face problems or conflicts, God will never leave us.
That is why God spoke in verses 16-17 - This means that during the time of the Exodus and the splitting of the Red Sea. And in order to save the Israelites, God pulled them out of Egypt and split the Red Sea for them. This was a great miracle that God performed for the Israelites. This shows the great love of God. For His children, God will never let them go. This shows the great and passionate love of God for us, His children.
2) The greater salvation
Verses 18-21 - God was proclaiming the Isrealites and telling them to remember the miracles of the Exodus. But God was telling them to forget all of those miracles and great answers because God will give them greater answers and miracles.
Verse 19-20 - God split the Red Sea and allowed them to cross the Jordan River but God was saying all of those great miracles are nothing now. God said that He will give a new work and do a new thing. God said that He will make a river in the desert but God never made a river in the desert, there were no events recording of this. Then, what does this all mean? This means that God will open a way for His people to meet God once again. God is saying that He will open a new pathway for the waters which means He will bring new life. God will give them new life.
Verse 21 - The reason why God did all of this so that He can be glorified. The new way of life was the great work of Jesus Christ.
Exodus 17:6 “Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.” - This was the miracle of when Moses hit the rock and water came out, and this provided drinking water for the people. This didn’t just provide drinking water but it gave them new life from this. This means that they were given new life which means that they should discard their old life and start their new life in God’s covenant.
John 7:38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” - Through Jesus, God granted us new life. God did all of this so that we can receive new life and we can glorify God. Why did God save us? God saved us so that we can praise and glorify God. What makes God happy is when we enjoy the blessing of Immanuel, God being with us and we can experience God’s great grace. And, also when we are able to confess of our thanksgiving for God’s salvation and presence. This worship service is able to give worship and glory to God. This is what makes God the most happy. When we are able to give praise and worship to God, then God will allow us to enjoy His great grace and blessings. When you pray, always pray with thanksgiving for God’s grace. Truly have the heart of thanksgiving and this will make God the most happy. But the Israelites received this great blessing of God but they lost hold of it.
2. Eradication of Sin that Makes New Salvation Possible
1) Israel's sin
Verses 22-24 - God gave the Israelites great blessing and performed great miracles for them but they lacked thanksgiving towards God. They didn’t seek after their Creator God and King, they sought after other things instead. That is why God was so frustrated towards them and said that they were making God’s heart weary.
The content of God’s heart of frustration is seen in verse 23 - The Israelites received God’s salvation once again and were freed from captivity, and were allowed to give worship to God by building a new temple but they didn’t bring any burnt offerings to God. They didn’t want to spend money to buy and bring burnt offerings to God. They were becoming too lazy to bring offerings to God. When they were giving worship to God, they felt like they were wasting their time and money. They were complaining about all of this. God spoke in fury and frustration in the end of verse 23 - God didn’t expect their worship and offerings for His own greed or needed their money so God was trying to clear their misunderstanding towards worship services.
Verse 24 - God granted them the opportunity to give worship to Him once again by freeing them from captivity because the Israelites had sinned against God. God was trying to grant them forgiveness of their sins but the Israelites didn’t see the severity of their sins and saw God’s opportunity as a waste of time and money for them. Through the time of worship and burnt offering, they were supposed to receive forgiveness of their sins but instead they saw God’s worship as a burden. They had to go inside the gospel through his worship time but they saw worship as a burden. They needed to have spiritual fellowship with God through worship but they committed more sin against God. The sinners kept sinning more and more against God, and this made God more frustrated and weary. Through the offerings we give to God like the thanksgiving and tithe offerings; they are so important. We need to remember this.
2) Eradication of sin
Verses 25-28 - No matter how sinful they are, if they come before God in worship with a proper heart and attitude, then God said that He will forgive them. This is because when we give worship to God, we repent before God and God will forgive us.
Verse 26 - God is saying that He just wants to talk to us and wants us to plead our cases before Him.
That is why God continues to express His frustrations towards Israelites in verse 27 - The forefathers of the Israelites didn’t see forgiveness of their sins, the sins of the Israelites keeps damaging their descendants. The Israelites were focused on unnecessary things other than the gospel.
Ultimately, the Israelites failed to give proper worship to God in verse 28 - The princes are referring to the prophets and kings of Israel. God said that these people, the prophets and the kings of Israel will be scorned because of their sin. God said that He will bring destruction to Israel after the resurrection of Jesus. For 2,000 years, Israel kept experiencing wars and suffering upon their nation. Even when you look at the Israelite nation right now, they are the front lines for world evangelism but they are now recipients for missions and evangelism.
3. The Mystery and the Power of Prayer
1) The mystery knowing how to see people
Last week we spoke about the 7 mysteries of prayer. Today, I will speak about the 5th mission. We must hold onto this. We need to have the mystery to see people correctly. There are absolutely people prepared for us by God. If you look in the Bible, God called out the Galileans.
The Galileans (Mark 3:13 “And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him. ”) - Jesus called the people that He wanted. Acts 1:11 “Who also said, 'Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.' ” - The people who saw Jesus ascending to heaven, the majority of these witnesses were the Galileans. Why was it the people of Galilee who witnessed this? The Galileans, despite their hardships, in order to hear the word of God, they came to search for Jesus. They sought after the word of God. The representative of this was Peter.
Peter the fisherman (Matthew 16:16 “Simon Peter answered and said, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' ”) - Peter was the one who made this confession. Peter had a pure and clean heart.
Paul the persecutor (Acts 9:15 “But the Lord said to him, 'Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.”) - God used Paul as well who was a Galilean. He persecuted Christians. Paul only focused his life on glorifying God and only for the gospel. When he persecuted Christians, he thought that he was doing a good thing for God and he was doing it for the sake of legalism. Paul lived a life for only God and that is why God used Paul greatly.
2) The mystery and the power of prayer
The flow of the mystery of prayer (Exodus 2:10 “And the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. So she called his name Moses, saying, 'Because I drew him out of the water.' ”, Acts 1:14 “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.”, Acts 13:1-3 “Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2 As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, 'Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.' 3 Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.”) - We need to hold onto the flow of prayer. We may not understand the flow of prayer but there is a flow to prayer. If we hold onto the flow of prayer, then we can receive answers. Exodus 2:10 - The prayer of Jochebed is seen here. The reason why she received answers was because she prayed that Moses can enter into the palace and the reason for this was so that God can use Moses greatly for the Israelites.
The prayer of Jethro and he was famous for building the system for the tribes of the Israelites. Through the prayer of Rahab, the Israelites were able to enter Canaan. Through the prayer of Hannah, the people of Israel were able to become one spiritually. Jesse’s prayer was to build a strong nation of Israel. This was the foundation for David’s powerful reign in Israel. Obadiah’s prayer was for the 7,000 disciples. This was the flow of prayer and the prayer for disciples. Daniel’s prayer was to save the lives of Gentiles and to do world evangelism.
Acts 1:14 - Through this prayer, God opened the doors for the church.
Acts 13:1-13 - This was the prayer of missions through the prayers of the Antioch Church. The flow of prayer is referring to God’s covenant. We are holding onto God’s covenant as we ride the flow of the age. What is the covenant for this age? The evangelism of 237 nations and 5,000 tribes. When we hold onto this, then we can experience God’s great power.
The avenue of the mystery of prayer (Romans 16:1-3 “I commend to you Phoebe our sister, who is a servant of the church in Cenchrea, 2 that you may receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and assist her in whatever business she has need of you; for indeed she has been a helper of many and of myself also. 3 Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus.”, Daniel 12:3 “Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever.”) - We need to enter into the blessings to save evangelists and missionaries. Romans 16:1-3 - This speaks about the workers of Romans 16. Who were these people, they staked their lives for world evangelism. World evangelism was able to take place through these people. They were the cornerstone for world evangelism. If they didn’t exist then world evangelism wouldn’t have happened.
Daniel 12:3 - Who is this talking about? These were the evangelists. Receive this blessing.
The content of prayer (Build the bartizan) (Platform: Genesis 2:7 “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. ”, Watchtower: Acts 1:4 “And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, 'which,' He said, 'you have heard from Me.’ ”, Antenna: Acts 5:42 “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.”) - Possess the bartizan. First, we must make the platform. We need to enjoy the life movement and saving lives - Genesis 2:7. Start with a new life.
Acts 1:4 - God said to build the platform. What is waiting? We are waiting with the word of God and prayer. We are holding onto God’s word and entering into prayer, and we are waiting with this.
Antenna (Acts 5:42) - Through deep prayer and fellowship with God, may you be able to relay the gospel to people around you. Through deep prayer and fellowship with God, may you experience God’s great power. Then the work of recreation will happen in our lives. We can receive the blessing of 237 nations and 5,000 tribes.
Conclusion
Romans 1:9 “For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers.” - Always stay inside the gospel. Always think about the 237 nations and 5,000 tribes, and enter into prayer then God will grant you great blessings. May you receive God’s great blessings.
