복음 떠난 자의 미래와 치유(히10:26-31)
서론
한국에 소망교회 곽선희 목사님이 계시다. 그 분은 오랫동안 소망교회에서 목회를 하셨다. 어느 날 그 분이 어느 여자 대학교에 특별 강사로 초청을 받았다고 한다. 그런데 그 여자 대학교에서 한 여학생이 손을 번쩍 들고 질문을 했다. 만일 목사님께서 내 평생 함께할 배우자를 택한다면 어떤 사람을 선택하겠습니까, 한 단어로 말해달라고 했다. 곽선희 목사님은 즉시 대답했다. Acceptance. 내가 어떤 경우가 생기더라도 나를 그대로 accept해줄 수 있는 사람이 최고의 배우자가 될 것이라고 말했다. 참 중요한 것 같다. 이것은 남자가 아내를 구할 때 어떤 문제가 있더라도 나를 받아주고 수용해줄 수 있는 사람을 찾는다. 또 여자도 마찬가지이다. 내가 어떤 실수를 했다고 하더라도 나를 받아주고 이해해줄 수 있는 사람이 최고의 배우자가 될 것이라고 생각할 것이다. 만일에 부부가 다 그렇게 서로 acceptance를 붙잡고 부부생활을 한다면 아마 최고 행복한 가정이 되지 않을까 싶다. 그런데 만일에 한 쪽은 모든 것은 accept하는데 한 쪽은 하지 않는다면 행복은 반 밖에 안될 것이다. 저는 이 이야기를 들으면서 영적인 면으로도 같은 의미를 갖고 있다고 생각했다. 하나님께서는 우리의 모든 것을 항상 accept하고 계신다. 그런데 우리는 하나님의 것을 다 accept하지 않고 있다. 자꾸만 내 것과 내 주장, 내 기준을 찾는 것이다. 거기서 참 행복을 누리지 못하고 있지 않은가. 그런 것을 보게되면 참 행복이라는 것은 아주 간단하다. 우리가 어떤 문제, 사건이 생긴다고 하더라도 하나님의 뜻과 계획 가운데서 문제를 바라본다 하면 모든 것을 accept하는 시각으로 본다면 우리에게 문제될 것이 아무것도 없다. 그래서 우리에게 어떤 문제나 사건 위기가 있다고 하더라도 하나님께서 우리에게 주신 축복 가운데 나타난 것이라고 생각하면 문제를 축복으로 받을 수 있을 것이다. 이 축복 누리시기 바란다.
1. 구원받지 못한자
1) 짐짓 죄를 범한 자
오늘 중요한 말씀 주셨다. 교회를 다니면서도 참 행복을 누리지 못하는 사람들이 많이 있다. 어떤 면에서는 교회를 다니면서 불행한 사람들이 있다. 오늘 우리가 본문을 읽었습니다만 오늘 이야기는 그 사람들에 대한 이야기이다.
히 10:26 우리가 진리를 아는 지식을 받은 후 짐짓 죄를 범한즉 다시 속죄하는 제사가 없고
복음을 받았음에도 불구하고 모든 지식을 알았음에도 불구하고 고의적으로 별거 아니야 하면서 부정하는 사람들이 있다. 어떤 사람은 도리질하고 말이 안되는 얘기라 하면서 이상한 행동을 하는 사람들이 가끔 나타난다. 그런 사람들에 대해 이야기하기를 짐짓 죄를 범한즉 다시 속죄하는 제사가 없다고 이야기하고 있다. 자신의 죄를 해결할 수 있는 방법이 없을 것이라는 말이다. 인간이 죄를 용서할 수 있는 유일한 방법이 그리스도의 대속의 피이다. 이 대속의 피를 부인한다면 그 사람이 용서받을 다른 방법이 없다. 그 사람에 대해 무엇이라고 이야기하는가.
히 10:27 오직 무서운 마음으로 심판을 기다리는 것과 대적하는 자를 태울 맹렬한 불만 있으리라
복음을 거절하고 비난하는 자는 대적자라고 한다. 복음을 버린 자는 어떤 삶을 사는가. 무서운 마음으로 심판을 기다린다. 복음 떠난 사람들이 어떤 마음으로 사는 가를 이야기하고 있다. 무서운 마음이 항상 떠나지 않는다. 항상 공포와 두려움 가운데 산다. 그리고 소멸하는 일과 맹렬한 불만 있으리라. 그렇게 살다가 이 지상에서 없어질 것이라는 말이다. 죽은 후에는 결국 맹렬한 진노 속으로 들어갈 것이라는 말이다. 무서운 말씀을 하고 있다. 복음을 떠난 자를 얼마나 하나님께서 싫어하시는 지를 말하고 있다. 그것으로 끝나지 않는다.
2) 언약의 피를 부정
히 10:28모세의 법을 폐한 자도 두세 증인으로 말미암아 불쌍히 여김을 받지 못하고 죽었거든
모세의 법이라는 것은 신 17:2-7에 나오는 말씀을 표현한 것이다. 다른 것을 만일 섬길 때는 돌로 죽여라 하는 말씀이 들어있다. 복음을 떠나게되면 이 세상에서 사라질 것이라고 했는데 구약에서는 돌로 쳐서 죽였다. 왜 그런가. 어떻게 하나님께서 그럴 수 있는가.
히10:29 하물며 하나님의 아들을 짓밟고 자기를 거룩하게 한 언약의 피를 부정한 것으로 여기고--
복음을 거절하고 떠나는 것은 어떤 것으로 생각하시냐면 하나님의 아들을 발로 짓밟는 것과 똑같다는 것이다. 복음없이 사는 것을 얼마나 하나님께서 싫어하시는 지를 발견해야한다. 자기를 거룩하게 한 언약의 피를 부정하는 것이라고 하고 있다. 주님께서는 육신을 입고 이 땅에 오셔서 인간의 근본 문제를 해결하시기 위해서 타락으로 인해서 저주받은 인생을 구원하시기 위해서 십자가에 못박혀 돌아가셨다. 죄로부터 해방시켜주시고 지옥으로부터 해방시켜주시고 사단의 권세로부터 해방시켜주셨다. 십자가에 못박혀 돌아가심으로 복음의 능력이 나타나서 살게 되었다. 어제 LA에 계시는 진명은 목사님께 전화가 왔다. 아주 기쁜 소식을 들었다. 그 분 사모님이 이번에 목사고시에 합격을 하셨다. 그런데 아주 연구를 많이 하시고 답을 잘 쓰셨다. 그런데 이야기하는 가운데서 그 목사님의 아들이 그동안에 마약 중독으로 상당히 고생을 했다. 10년 이상 아주 고생을 많이 했다. 부모님들이 계속 복음을 전했다. 달라스에 와서 목사님 식구들하고 식사를 한 적이 있었다. 조금 이야기하다가 뭔가 자기 마음에 들지 않은 말이 나온 것이다. 참지 못하고 확 혈기를 부리더니 튀어나갔다. 눈초리가 굉장히 날카롭고 잘못하면 큰일 나겠다 하는 생각이 들었다. 그런 사람들은 돌발적으로 참지 못하는 현상이 나타난다. 그래서 같이 앉아서 밥도 먹지않고 앉아있는데 위로를 하고 잘 끝낼 수 있었다. 그런데 이 아들이 깨끗하게 치유가 되었다는 것이다. 어떻게 그렇게 되었냐고 물었다. 목사님 기도 때문이라고 하시면서 하는 이야기가 복음의 위력이 대단합니다 하고 이야기한다. 우리는 복음 받은 것 밖에 없는데 이렇게 치유가 되었습니다 하고 이야기하셨다. 그래서 지금 어떻게 하고 있냐고 물었다. 신학교를 들어가서 공부를 열심히하고 있다고 했다. 정말로 잘됬다고 이야기했다. 그런데 한 가지 또 놀란 것이 있다. 그 동생이 그동안에 의학 공부를 하고 있었다. 의사가 되서 사람들을 치유하겠다고 열심히 공부했다. 그런데 그 딸이 나 이제 목사해야되겠다 하고 의과대학 그만두고 신학교로 들어갔다. 복음으로 완전히 뒤바뀌어진 집안이 되어버렸다. 아버지도 목사님 엄마도 목사, 아들도 목사, 딸도 목사, 전 식구가 다 목사가 되겠다고. 복음의 능력은 대단하다. 어디가서 고칠 수 있겠는가. 오늘 말씀을 보면 이 어마어마한 복음을 거절한다면 하나님께서 가만 놔두지 않으신다는 것이다.
2. 구원받지 못한 자의 문제
1) 성령을 훼방
여기서 더 중요한 이야기를 하고 있다.
히 10:29 --은혜의 성령을 욕되게 하는 자가 당연히 받을 형벌은 얼마나 더 무겁겠느냐 너희는 생각하라
은혜의 성령을 욕되게 하는 자라는 것은 성령 훼방죄를 말한다.
마 12:31 그러므로 내가 너희에게 이르노니 사람에 대한 모든 죄와 모독은 사하심을 얻되 성령을 모독하는 것은 사하심을 얻지 못하겠고
그리스도의 어마어마한 언약의 피를 성령께서 구원 사역으로 이루시고 계신데 이것을 부인하면 하나님께서 가만히 계시지 않는다는 것이다. 용서하지 아니하시는 것이 문제가 아니라 하나님께서 얼마나 영혼 구원하는 것을 방해하는 것을 싫어하시는지 알아야한다. 은혜의 성령이라고 이야기하고 있다. 은혜의 성령이라는 것은 대단히 중요한 말씀이다. 예수 그리스도의 십자가 언약의 피가 우리에게 뿌려지는 순간에, 우리가 예수님을 영접하는 순간에 어마어마한 변화가 일어난다. 그 어마어마한 변화를 누가 일으키고 있느냐. 성령께서 친히 다 하고 계신다. 다시 말씀드리면 말씀을 듣는 순간에 믿음이 생기게 하는 것이 바로 성령께서 하시는 것이다. 사도바울이 루디아에게 복음을 전했을 때 하나님께서는 루디아의 마음을 여셨다고 나온다. 마음을 연 것이 바로 성령께서 하신 것이다. 예수 그리스도를 영접한 순간에 하나님의 자녀로 성령께서 인치시는 일이 일어난다. 그것도 성령께서 하시는 것이다. 뿐만 아니다. 예수 그리스도를 영접하는 순간에 새 생명이 태어난다. 누가 하는 것인가. 성령께서 하시는 것이다. 뿐만 아니다. 예수 그리스도를 영접하는 순간에 우리의 몸이 접붙힘을 당하는 역사가 일어난다. 그것이 성령께서 하시는 것이다. 우리가 접붙힘을 받아 그리스도 안에 들어가게 되면 이제는 그리스도 안에서의 삶을 살 수 있도록 축복해주신다. 바로 그것이 성화의 삶을 살 수 있도록 인도하시는 것이다. 이 모든 과정이 전부다 성령께서 하시는 것이다. 뿐만 아니라 성령이 어떤 은혜를 끼치고 계신다. 예수 그리스도의 모든 권능이 우리에게 적용될 수 있도록 축복해주시고 은혜를 주신다. 구원의 모든 과정을 성령께서 세밀하게 한 사람 한 사람 다 인도하고 계신다. 그런데 이것을 거절하고 비난한다면 하나님께서는 용서하지 않으신다는 것이다. 바로 그것이 성령을 모독하는 행위로 하나님께서는 보시는 것이다.
2) 그리스도 사역을 훼방
또 이 복음을 떠나는 것은 그리스도의 사역을 방해하는 것이라고 나온다.
히 10:30 원수 갚는 것이 내게 있으니 내가 갚으리라 하시고 또 다시 주께서 그의 백성을 심판하리라 말씀하신 것을 우리가 아노니
성령을 욕되게 하는 자는 하나님께서 말씀하시기를 내 원수다 하고 말씀하시는 것이다. 다시 말씀드리면 생명 구원하는 것을 방해하는 자는 하나님께서 원수로 보시는 것이다. 하나님의 절대 계획이 무엇인가. 창 3:15에서 시작된다. 여자의 후손이 뱀의 머리를 상하게 할 것이다 하면서 계획을 말씀하고 계신다. 내가 사단의 머리를 박살 내겠다는 것이 하나님의 첫번째 계획이었다. 그래서 예수님께서 이 땅에 오셨다. 십자가에 못박혀 돌아가시면서 요 19:30에 보면 다 이루었다고 하셨다. 아버지께서 주신 언약의 말씀을 다 이루었다는 말씀이다. 예수님께서 친히 육신을 입고 이 땅에 오셔서 십자가에서 친히 피흘려 죽으심으로서 이 모든 것을 다 이루셨다. 이 사실을 요 1:12에 말하고 있다.
요 1:12 영접하는 자 곧 그 이름을 믿는 자들에게는 하나님의 자녀가 되는 권세를 주셨으니
영접하는 순간에 그 때부터 성령께서 역사하셔서 하나님 자녀된 권세를 주시는 것이다. 여러분 이 구원사역이라는 것은 단순히 이루어지는 것이 아니라 성삼위 하나님께서 합력하셔서 완벽하게 역사하시는 것이다. 한 마디로 그리스도의 사역은 죽은 자를 살리는 사역이다.
히 10:31 살아 계신 하나님의 손에 빠져 들어가는 것이 무서울진저
엄중한 경고의 말씀을 주신다. 우리가 이런 말씀을 받을 때 성령을 훼방하는 자는 저주 가운데 살 수 밖에 없겠네 하고 받으면 말씀을 제대로 받지 못하는 것이다. 히브리서 기자가 이것을 쓴 것은 이러한 문제가 생길 것이니 너희는 사단에게 속지 말라 하는 경고의 말씀인 것을 받아야한다. 이런데 빠져서 망해가는 사람이 있을 것이다. 그들에게 살 수 있는 복음의 말씀을 주시는 말씀이 이 말씀이다. 더군다나 중요한 것은 이 말씀은 사명자에게 주시는 말씀이다. 그렇다면 우리 구원받은 자가 어떤 영적인 눈을 뜨고 말씀을 붙들고 살아가야할 것이냐를 가르쳐주고 있는 말씀이다. 이 본문 말씀과 아주 비슷한 경고의 말씀이 겔 3:20 말씀에서 찾아볼 수 있다.
3. 구원받은 자의 사명
1) 새 언약 속의 구원사역
겔 3:20 또 의인이 그의 공의에서 돌이켜 악을 행할 때에는 이미 행한 그의 공의는 기억할 바 아니라 내가 그 앞에 거치는 것을 두면 그가 죽을지니 이는 네가 그를 깨우치지 않음이니라 그는 그의 죄 중에서 죽으려니와 그의 피 값은 내가 네 손에서 찾으리라
여기서 중요한 말씀을 하고 있다. 신앙생활 잘 하고 헌신도 많이 하고 전도도 많이 했던 사람들이 있다. 그런데 그 사람이 갑자기 시험에 든다. 사단에게 속는다. 갑자기 이상한 짓을 한다. 아무리 생각해봐도 하나님 안믿는 것 같아, 하나님이 살아계신 것 같지 않아, 복음은 가짜같아, 그리스도께서 나를 위해 돌아가신 것이 안 믿어지고 받아들일 수 없어 한다. 그러다가 갑자가 이상하게 교회 다니는 사람들한테 나도 교회 다녀봤어 다 소용도 없는 일이야 하는 사람들이 있다. 말씀에 이미 행한 그의 공의는 기억할 바 아니라고 이야기하고 있다. 사도바울은 이것이 두려워 나는 뒤를 보지 않고 앞으로 달려간다고 했다. 내가 옛날에 많은 일을 했으니까 그래도 좀 봐주시겠지 이런 것이 없다는 말이다. 그런 사람들을 만나게 되면 다시 정확하게 복음을 이야기 해주어야한다. 안그러면 네가 그 책임을 당하게 될 것이라고 말한다. 그러면 신앙생활 잘 했던 사람에게 왜 이런 일이 생기는가. 두가지로 생각할 수 있다. 복음을 계속적으로 받지 못하고 잠깐 복음에 떠난 삶을 살다가 완전히 시험에 빠지는 경우가 있다. 하나님의 자녀여도 그런 경우가 있다. 정말 그들이 회복하게 도와주어야한다. 그런데 하나는 예수를 믿고 교회를 다녔음에도 정확하게 영접이 안된 사람이 있을 수 있다.
고후 5:17 그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라 이전 것은 지나 갔으니 보라 새 것이 되었도다
분명히 새 것이 되었도다 하고 말씀하고 있다. 분명 새 것이 된다면 변화된 삶을 살아야 할텐데 그렇지 못한 삶을 산다. 아직까지도 새로운 피조물이 안된 상태일 수 있다는 것이다. 지난 시간에 히 10:20 말씀을 보았다.
히 10:20 그 길은 우리를 위하여 휘장 가운데로 열어 놓으신 새로운 살 길이요 휘장은 곧 그의 육체니라
성소에서 휘장을 지나야만이 하나님을 만나는 지성소에 들어갈 수 있다. 그런데 하늘에 있는 지성소에 들어가기 위해서는 휘장되신 그리스도를 통과해야만이 하나님을 만날 수 있다. 이 성소 앞에는 십자가에 못박혀 돌아가신 그리스도의 죽은 시체가 걸려있는 것이다. 하나님을 만나기 위해서는 내가 예수님의 죽음 속으로 들어가야한다. 예수님의 죽음 속에 내가 완전히 죽어야만이 부활할 수가 있게된다. 완전히 죽지 않고 살아났다는 것은 부활이 아니라 치유받아서 새로 태어난 것이다. 무엇을 이야기하는가. 교회는 다녔음에도 완전히 죽어진 삶을 살지 못했다, 완전히 영접이 되지 못했다는 것을 잡아야한다. 분명한 것은 이런 경우나 저런 경우나 우리는 그들에게 정확한 복음을 전해서 살려야한다. 이것이 하나님께서 우리에게 말하시는 소원의 말씀이다.
2) 예비된 백성을 살려야
그러면 우리가 예비된 백성들을 어떻게 살려야할 것인가. 먼저 붙잡아야할 것이 정확한 복음을 그들에게 전달하는 것이다. 정확한 그리스도의 3직을 증거해야한다. 이 때 성령께서 역사하신다. 말씀을 증거할 때 꼭 붙잡아야할 것이 겔 37:10 말씀이다. 에스겔 골짜기에서 에스겔 선지자가 말씀을 증거할 때 뼈들이 맞기 시작해서 강한 군대가 되었다. 그렇게 될 수 있었던 것은 정확한 복음의 말씀 때문이다. 우리가 복음을 전할 때 틀림없이 영적인 힘이 전달된다. 무당집 아이들을 보게되면 무당이 안수를 하는 것도 아닌데 그 아이들은 귀신에 시달린다. 그렇기 때문에 그들에게 정확한 복음을 정해주지 않으면 그들도 어려움을 당하게 된다. 어린 렘넌트들이 있다. 이들이 못알아듣고 왔다갔다 하는 것 같아도 저들에게도 믿음을 정해야한다. 못알아들어도 영적인 힘이 전달되고 있다. 분명한 것은 우리가 영적인 능력을 전달하는 것이 또 중요하다. 고전 3:16에 보면 너희는 성령의 전이라고 말씀하고 있다. 성령의 전이라는 것은 우리 안에 하나님이 계시다는 것이다. 하나님께서 우리와 계시면 모든 것이 끝나는 것이다. 뭐가 두려운 것이 있겠는가. 모세가 개인적으로 바로하고 싸웠다면 모세는 형편없이 죽음을 당했을 것이다. 그러나 모세는 그 안에 하나님이 계셨다. 그는 하나님의 성령의 능력 때문에 바로를 이길 수 있었다. 모세는 개인적으로 아무런 힘이 없었다. 그 안에 계신 성령 때문에 애굽의 우상들이 다 모세 앞에 무너졌다. 왜 그런가. 그 안에 계신 성령 때문이다. 여러분 안에 하나님이 계신 줄로 믿는다. 여러분 앞에 이길 자는 아무도 없다. 이 언약을 정말로 잡아야한다. 중요한 것은 그것을 정말로 믿는 것이다. 내가 개인적으로 마귀와 싸우면 우리는 백전백패이다. 그러나 내 안에 성령께서 계시다는 사실을 믿고 확신을 갖고 믿는 그 순간에는 귀신이 나한테 안된다. 내 안에 예수님이 계시기 때문에 그 이름을 선포하면 흑암이 무너질 수 밖에 없다. 내가 예수님 이름으로 나가게 되면 마귀는 나와 싸움이 되지 않는다. 이 축복을 이미 받은 줄로 믿는다. 이 축복과 능력을 우리에게 왜 주셨는가. 생명 구원 하라는 것이다.
행 1:8 오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라 하시니라
그 힘으로 세상을 살리는 축복된 삶을 살게 될 줄로 믿는다. 우리는 당당하게 살아야한다. 얼마나 감사한가. 내 안에 누가 계신가. 어마어마한 천지를 창조하신 하나님이 계신다. 가는 곳 마다 승리하게 될 줄로 믿는다.
결론
눅 11:13 너희가 악할지라도 좋은 것을 자식에게 줄 줄 알거든 하물며 너희 하늘 아버지께서 구하는 자에게 성령을 주시지 않겠느냐 하시니라
하나님께서는 모든 것을 다 accept하시는 분이다. 내가 정말 생명 구원하기를 원하는데 내가 능력이 없습니다, 능력 주세요 하고 기도해보시라. 나쁜 사람들도 자기 자식에게 좋은 것을 사다주는 왜 하나님 아버지라고 안주시겠는가. 저는 이 말씀을 볼 때 하나님께서 성령의 능력을 어마어마하게 준비하셔서 우리가 전도하기 원합니다 힘과 능력과 지혜를 주세요 하고 정말 간절히 기도하게되면 알았다 하고 하늘 문을 쫙 열고 폭포수 처럼 부어주실 것 같다. 기도하실 때 오늘 이 말씀을 붙잡고 기도하시라. 약속을 지켜주세요. 하나님께서 기뻐하시면서 마음껏 성령의 충만함을 채워주실 줄로 믿는다.
The Future and Healing of Those Who Have Left the Gospel (Hebrews 10:26-31)

“26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, 'Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,' says the Lord. And again, 'The Lord will judge His people.' 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
Introduction
In Korea, there is a professor name Kang Sung Hee at a church called Hope Church. He also was a pastor but one day, he was invited to give a lecture to a Women’s University. At the lecture, one student at the university raised her hand to ask a question and her question was to the professor was, “If you could choose one person as my spouse, what kind of person would you choose?” When the professor received the question, he answered quickly and said, “Acceptance.” The professor said that the greatest souse that you can have is someone who can accept you no matter what. I think this is very important. When a man seeks a wife, he needs to find a spouse who can accept the way he is, no matter what kind of problems he has. No matter whatever mistake she makes, her spouse needs to be understanding and forgive her no matter what. If a couple is able to accept each other and live understanding each other, then they would live as the most happy family. If one side is not able to accept the other person but the other person is able to accept him/her, then there would be no harmony within that family. For us, this is the same concept spiritually. God always accepts everything about you but we are not able to accept everything about God. We are always looking for what we want and our standards. With this, we are not able to seek and find true happiness. If you look at this, then there is a simple way to receive and achieve happiness. No matter what problem or situations come to us, if we are able to see problems as God’s plan and will then no problem will ever become a problem for us. No matter what problem or situation come to us, if you are able to see those problems as blessings then those problems will absolutely be turned into blessings and happiness to you. May you enjoy this blessing. Today, God has given us a very precious message. There are people who attend church but still don’t have happiness. There are even people who go to church but are still giving an anxious life. Today’s Biblical passage is about those people.
1. Those Who Are Not Saved
1) For if we sin willfully
Verse 26 - In other words, even though you have received the gospel and understand the gospel by knowledge, there are people who think lightly of the gospel and even ignore it. There are people who heard the gospel but they completely misinterpret the gospel in a strange way and then there are others who challenge the gospel. The message says that there is no longer a need for blood sacrifices for the sins for these kinds of people. God is saying that there is no way to forgive the sins of these people. The reason is because the only way to forgive sins is through the blood of Jesus Christ. If you don’t receive the blood of Jesus Christ to atone your sins then there is no way to forgive your sins.
Verse 27 - In other words, those who ignore and challenge the gospel, they are considered adversaries of the gospel. What will happen to those who reject the gospel? There will be a fearful judgment for them. This is the life of those who reject the gospel. People who reject the gospel, they are always living in fear and deep anguish. Fiery indignation will come upon them. When their lives end, they will enter into the fiery wrath of judgment. This is so scary. This is what God is explaining to those who separate themselves from the gospel.
2) Treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant
It doesn’t end there, if you look in verse 28 and Deuteronomy 17:2 (“If there is found among you, within any of your gates which the Lord your God gives you, a man or a woman who has been wicked in the sight of the Lord your God, in transgressing His covenant.”) - If you worship idols, then you will absolutely die and be stoned to death. If you separate from the gospel, you will depart from this world but in the Old Testament, these people would be stoned to death. Why was that? How could God do that to people?
It says the reason why in verse 29 - If you reject the gospel and leave the gospel, what does God think of this? God thinks of this as if you are trampling on the Son of God, Jesus Christ. God hates it so much when you reject and leave the gospel. Jesus Christ saved mankind from the life of death, sin, and hell and the fundamental problem of mankind by dying on the cross for us. He has liberated us from the powers of Satan, sin, and hell. Through His death on the cross, the great power for the gospel was revealed. Yesterday there was a pastor form LA who gave me a call and I received very happy news from him. His wife received her approval to become a pastor and her thesis was very good topic and content. Their son suffered a lot from drug addiction and suffered for at least 10 years. He was suffering for 10 years so his parents continued to imprint the gospel to him. One time, we had dinner together in Dallas and there was something that someone said to him that he didn’t like and he got so angry that he rose up from his seat and left. People who suffer from severe addiction, when they become angry and triggered, they can become very dangerous and unpredictable. But we were all able to comfort and calm him down in the end. But I received the news that his son is completely healed now. I asked the pastor how this was possible and the pastor said that it was all due to prayers, and he concluded to say that the power of the gospel is amazing. All we did was receive the gospel but the gospel is able to provide us with tremendous healing. I asked how his son was doing and he has entered into seminary school, and he is studying very hard. I thought this was so amazing and I was so happy for them. There was something else that was shocking. When the son was healed, his sister was studying medicine to become doctor so that she heal people but now, the daughter quit medical school and decided to become a pastor as well and entered seminary school. Through the gospel, the pastor’s children were both trying to become pastor. This is amazing because now his wife is a pastor and his children are going to become pastors. This is the power of the gospel. Where else can you go to fix a problem like this that the son experienced? If you leave and reject the gospel, then God will not stand still. From here, there is something else more important.
2. The Problem of the Unsaved
1) Insulting the Holy Spirit
Insulting the Spirit of grace means that you are insulting the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 12:31 (“Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.”) - The Holy Spirit was able to give us life by cleansing us from our sins and if this is so, if you blaspheme the Holy Spirit then God will not stand still. The problem is not that God will forgive you or not but God hates it when people disturb and block the spiritual work. The Biblical passage says the Spirit of grace. This is very important. In other words, when Jesus Christ died on the cross and shed His blood for us, we were able to become a child of God and tremendous spiritual works took place. Who allows this tremendous change and works to take place? It is through the Holy Spirit. In other words, when you receive the word of God and gain faith, this is all through the work of the Holy Spirit. When Paul shared the gospel to Lydia, the Bible said that the Holy Spirit opened her heart. The one who opened her heart was the Holy Spirit. The moment you accept Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit comes inside of you and seals you as a child of God. This is all part of the work of the Holy Spirit. Not only that but when you accept Christ, you gain new life and become reborn. This all through the working of the Holy Spirit. Not only that but we discussed this last week, when we accept Christ, we become part of the body of Jesus Christ. This is all through the work of the Holy Spirit. When we enter inside Jesus Christ, then we are able to live inside Christ. This is all possible for us to live part of the sanctification process and through the work of the Holy Spirit. What kind of work does the Holy Spirit do? All authority and power that Jesus Christ has, that same power and authority comes upon us through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit guides us through everything and every process of our lives. But if you reject and ignore this, then God will not forgive and tolerate it. This is insulting the Holy Spirit. If you leave the gospel, you are disturbing the work and ministry of Jesus Christ.
2) Insulting the ministry of Christ
Verse 30 - Those who insult the Holy Spirit, God calls you His enemy. In other words, if you disturb the work of salvation, then you are considered as an enemy of God. What is God’s absolute plan?
It started with Genesis 3:15 (“And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”) - God revealed His plan to bruise and crush the head of Satan. That is why Jesus christ came to Earth and died on the cross. When He died on the cross, He confessed that it is all finished in John 19:30 (“So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, 'It is finished!' And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.”) - Jesus Christ was so happy that He has fulfilled the words of God. Jesus Christ came to Earth, died on the cross, and fulfilled God’s covenant through His death.
John 1:12 (“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.”) - In other words, the moment you accept Christ, the Holy Spirit comes and works inside of you. This is not a simple act but this is all possible through the work of the Triune God. The Triune God works together to allow the work of salvation to take place. In other words, the work of Christ is the work of salvation.
That is why if you look in verse 31 - This is a message of warning from God. Those who reject God, you may think that you are living a cursed life, but this is a very incorrect thinking. The author of Hebrews wrote this because this problem will come to us and Satan will try to deceive us but don’t be deceived. In other words, you may be deceived and head towards the path of destruction but the message of the gospel is this message here. What is important is that God has given this message to the believers. Then, what kind of spiritual eyes must we have as we hold onto this message?
3. The Ministry of the Saved
1) The ministry of salvation in the New Covenant
Another message of warning is also seen in Ezekiel 3:20 (“Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand.”) - This is a very important message. You lived a very good Christian life, you participate in evangelism but one day, this person falls into trials and gets deceived by Satan. Then, they start doing strange things and they even confess that they don’t believe in God anymore. They don’t believe that God is alive and don’t feel like the gospel is real anymore. They even confess and say that they don’t believe that Christ died for hem. They will even turn away from the church and even turn away from other people from the church. It says in Ezekiel 3:20 that you shall not be remembered. This is what Paul was scared of. You have done so much for God and serving the church diligently but why do they end up leaving the church and gospel? When you meet these kinds of people, you need to help them be redirected to the gospel because if you don’t do this, then their blood will be on your hands. Why does this happen to these people? Why do people who look like they are living a good Christian walk of faith end up like this? There are two reasons.
They weren’t able o receive the gospel sincerely and earnestly and so when a trial and conflict comes to them, they get swayed and deceived. This can happen to children of God. We need to help them to be restored in the gospel. The other reason is they go to church but they haven’t truly accepted Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”) - If you accept Christ, then you become a new creation and you will absolutely live a changed life. In other words, these people are not able to become a new creation.
Last week, we discussed Hebrews 10:20 (“By a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh.”) - Only when you pass the through the veil, then you can be able to meet God in the Holiest. But in other to pass the veil, you could only pass it when you enter the Holiest. The door to the throne of God was the body of Jesus Christ. In other to meet God, you had to die on the cross with Jesus Christ. Through the death of Jesus Christ, you also had to die in other to live and be reborn. If you don’t die completely and be reborn, you haven’t resurrected but you just woke up. This means that even though you go to church, if you weren’t able to become reborn again and gain new life then you haven’t experienced new creation. We need to save people who haven’t experienced true and new life. This is what God wants from us. Then, how must we live as children of God?
2) Save the prepared people
First, we must hold onto that we must preach the true and accurate gospel. You need to relay the true meaning of the Triune God.
When you relay the gospel, you must relay and hold onto the message of Ezekiel 37:10 (“So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.”) - When Ezekiel preached the gospel, the dead bones came back to life and became a strong army. Through Ezekiel’s message of the gospel, the dead bones came back to life and became a strong army, this was possible when the true gospel was preached. When we proclaim the gospel, this is what happens. We must hold onto this truth.
A Shaman may think that she didn’t do anything wrong and didn’t even send or order evil spirits to enter their children but their children has no choice but to suffer. When the gospel is not proclaimed to them, then they wi,l absolutely suffer. There are young remnants here, they may look like they are not understanding but if we continue to proclaim the gospel to them, then we can relay the spiritual power to them. What is absolute is that we need to relay spiritual power and strength.
1 Corinthians 3:16 (“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”) - The fact that we are temple of God means that God lives inside of us. If God is with us, then that is it. There is nothing else that we need. If Moses did fight with Pharaoh, then absolutely Moses would have lost and died. But within Moses, there was God with him. Because of God’s power and the power of the Spirit of God, Moses was able to win against Pharaoh. Moses had no power but because the Spirit of God inside of him, the power of idolatry within Egypt was completely broken down. Why was that? It was because the Spirit of God was within Moses. In you, God with you. There is no one who can win against you. You need to hold onto this covenant. What is important then? It is so important that we believe in this. If you try to fight against Satan, then we will absolutely lose but the moment we believe in Christ, then Satan can’t do anything against us. This is because God is with us and because of this, the power of Satan has no choice but to be broken down. When we go before the name of Christ, then Satan cannot win against you. Every time you go in battle, Satan will always lose. We already posses this power. Why do possess this power? To save lives.
Acts 1:8 (“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”) - With this power, may we live as blessed people to save the world and people. We must live boldly. How thankful should we be? Who is within us? It is God. God who is the Creator is with us. Wherever we go, we will absolutely be victorious.
Conclusion
Hold onto Luke 11:13 (“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”) - God accepts everything. If you say that you want to do the life saving movement but have no power and you tell God that you don’t know how you can save others. Pray about this. There are even wicked people who give good things to their children, if that is so, how much more would God give us? When I look at this Biblical passage, God promised us tremendous amount of the Spirit of God, if I truly pray for the power and authority of God then I am sure God will be ready to open the floodgates to pour down His great power and blessings. When you pray, pray with this message. God promised us this power. God will absolutely keep His promise. God promised that He will keep His promise. God is the one how keeps His promise and pray to God who keeps His promises. May you receive the overflow of the power of the Holy Spirit. May we place our hands over our weaknesses once again and enter into prayer.
