“남은 자의 길"

“형제들아 내가 너희를 권하노니 권면의 말을 용납하라 내가 간단히 너희에게 썼느니라. 우리 형제 디모데가 놓인 것을 너희가 알라 그가 속히 오면 내가 그와 함께 가서 너희를 보리라.” (히브리서 13:22-23)
서론
이번에 여행중에 참 감사한 것은 여러분들의 기도가 얼마나 귀중한가 하는것을 사실적으로 느낄수가 있었다. 모든 순간순간 마다 하나님께서 과분하게 함께 하시고 역사 하시는 축복을 보면서 얼마나 감사한지 모른다. 우리 성도들이 기도 하는것이 이렇게 다르구나 느꼈다. 여러분께 감사 드리고 더 큰 은혜가 임하게 될줄 믿는다. 이번에 제가 칼럼을 하나 보았다. 메리야트 호텔의 사명이 뭔가 하니 집을 떠난 여행자 들에게 마치 친한 친구 집에 머무는것처럼 편하게 지낼수 있도록 하는것 이라고 한다. 월마트는 가난한 사람들도 부자 처럼 마음껏 물건을 살수 있게 돕는것이 사명 이라고 한다. 한국의 교보생명은 사람들이 미래에 닥칠 역경에서 좌절하지 않게 도와주는것 이라고 한다. 이렇게 각 기업마다 사명이 있고 아마 개인 마다 이러한 사명이나 인생의 목적이 있을것이다. 여러분들의 사명은 무엇으로 잡고 계시나. 우리는 “나”에 대한 사명을 분명히 붙잡고 나아 가야겠다. 제가 항상 붙잡는것은, 하나님 주신 계명을 중심으로 하나님께 영광 돌리는것과, 세계복음화를 방향 맞추는것 이다. 우리는 남은자의 축복에 대해 큰 은혜를 받았다.
1. 70인 남은자 70 of those who remained
1) 초대교회의 남은 자 Those who remained from the Early Church
히 Hebrews 13:22
본문 말씀 보면 남은자들에 대한 이야기가 나오는것을 볼수있다. 저자가, “형제들아, 내가 너희를 권하노니 권면의 말을 용납하라 내가 간단히 너희에게 썼느니라" 라고 말씀 한다. 여기서 형제들아 하는것은 초대교회때 남아있는 사람들을 의미 하고있다. AD 64년에 로마의 빈민굴에서 대 화재가 일어났다. 네로는 그 모든 책임을 기독교인에게 씌워 기독교인들을 핍박했다. 이때 사도바울, 베드로 사도도 죽임을 당하게된다. 베드와 바울이 AD 67 에 순교를 한것으로 추정된다. 기독교인들을 죽인 네로는 국가의 반란과, 네로는 국가의 적 이다 라는 결론을 내린 원로들의 판결 통해 도망을 가게 된다. 사도 바울과 베드로를 죽인지 1년정도 지난 AD 68 에 자기가 데리고 있던 노예의 집에서 네로 왕은 자살을 하게 된다. 그러면 여기서 우리가 붙잡을 것은, 여기서 형제들아, 외쳤던 히브리서의 저자는 누구였나 이 말이다. 칼빈이 주장하기를 히브리서를 쓴 사람은 사도 바울이다 라고 한다. 그렇다면 한창 핍박중에 살아있던 사람들에게 쓴 편지이다 라고 볼수가 있다. 또 많은 사람들은 내용을 봤을때 그것이 아니다 이야기한다. 그 근거로, 히브리서의 내용은 전부 ≪70인역 ≫ 이라고 하는 알렉산드레아 에서 히브리어를 헬라어로 번역한 말을 인용한 내용이 많이 나온다는 사실이다. 사도바울은 다소 (Tarsus) 출신으로 히브리말을 쓰는 사람이기 때문에, 헬라어 번역본인 ≪70인역 ≫ 을 인용할 사람이 아니라는것 이다. 그래서 많은 사람들은 알렉산드리아 학파 (Alexandrian School) 중에서 가장 유명했던 아볼로 (Apollos) 라는 사람이 썼을것 이다 라고 주장을 하고 있다. 렌스켈 이라는 사람이 이것을 주장했는데, 그 사람에 의하면, 이 “형제들아” 라고 외치는것은, 기독교인을 핍박 했던 네로가 자살한 후에 많은 사람들이 감옥에서 석방 되었는데, 바로 그 사람들을 지칭 하는것 이라고 했다. 그러니까, 저자는, 살아 남아있는 사람들이 너무 중요하기 때문에 그들에게 편지를 쓴 것이 히브리서의 전체 내용이다 이 말이다.
2) 남은 자 70인 70 of those who remained

그렇다면 “남은자” 라는 것이 무엇인가 라는거다. 남은자라 함은 우연히 살아남은 자가 아니라 하나님께서 복음을 위해서 특별히 남긴자 라는 의미를 가지고 있는것을 말한다. 성경에 보면 남긴자에 해당되는 사람들로 예수님의 12제자와 70인을 남겨둔 사실을 알수있다. 우리가 70인 이라고 하지만 정확히 숫자 70명을 말하는 것은 아니다. 하나님께서 세우신 특별한 계획 있는 자들을 70인 이라고 한다. 출애굽기 1:5 말씀 보면, “야고보의 허리 에서 나온 사람들이 모두 70이요 요셉은 애굽에 있었더라” 라고 나와있다. 여기서 모세오경 에서 기록한것을 보게 되면 70인 이라는 단어를 중요하게 여기고 기록한 것을 볼수가 있다. 요셉까지 포함 시켜야 하는데 요셉을 빼고 70인 이요 한것을 알수있다. 그렇다면 남은자의 의미로 언약 속에 남아있는 자 라는것을 알수 있다. 제가 왜 자꾸 70인을 자꾸 이야기 하나, 지금 우리가 그러한 축복을 받은 위치에 있기에 그렇다. 누가복음 10:1 말씀 보면, “그 후에 주께서 따로 칠십 인을 세우사 친히 가시려는 각 동네와 각 지역으로 둘씩 앞서 보내시며” 하는 말씀이 나온다. 전도를 위해 하나님께서 특별히 준비된 자를 보내시는거다. 하나님께서 준비된 자를 기뻐하시고 아주 귀하게 여기시며 축복 하시는것을 볼수가 있다. 예수님께서 부활 하시고 그들을 다시 모으셔서 말씀 하시는것을 볼수있다, 사도행전 1:4, “사도와 함께 모이사 그들에게 분부하여 이르시되 예루살렘을 떠나지 말고 내게서 들은 바 아버지께서 약속하신 것을 기다리라" 하고 말씀 하신다. 또 남은자 라 함은 그리스도로 완전히 답난 자 말하고 있다. 신앙에서 성공하고 이미 축복 받은자들을 의미한다. 우리가 분명히 잡을것은 이 남은자의 축복이 지금 우리에게 주어졌다는것 이다. 아무리 생각해도 이것은 보통 축복이 아니다.
2. 70인 순례자의 여정 The journey of the 70 pilgrims
1) 순례자의 시작 The start for the pilgrim
행 Acts 1:14

사 Isaiah 41:10
그렇다면 이러한 사람들이 어떤 삶을 사는가. 순례자의 여정 속에서 사는 축복을 누리게 된다. 그렇다면 순례자의 여정속에 남은 자의 축복은 어디서 시작되는가 중요하다. 행 1:14에 모인 120 사람들도 그러한 사람들을 이야기 하는것이다. 120 명 모두가 사실은 70인 이다. 하나님의 남은 자들을 나타낸다. 그렇다면 주일에 모여 이 사람들이 뭘 했냐 이거다. 모여서 힘써 기도했다. 그들은 자기 능력으로 이 세상을 이길수 없다는 것을 알기에 하나님의 능력을 힘입어 일 하기 위해 모여 기도 했다는것이다. 오직 그리스도로 답 난 자들이 모여서 힘써 기도하게 되니 하나님께서는 사도행전 2장에 나타난 성령 충만의 역사를 그들에게 허락 하신것이다. 중요한것은 왜 이 사람들이 힘을 얻기 위해 그렇게 기도했나 이거다. 자기들을 계속 힘들게 했던 창 3, 6, 11의 각인 뿌리 체질된 문제에서 해방 받기 위해서 하나님의 능력을 힘입기를 원했던것이다. 우리의 힘과 능력과 지혜로는 절대 창세기 3, 6, 11장을 이길수가 없다. 그런데 하나님 능력을 힘 입으니 거기서 이길수 있게 되는것이다. 그러면 지금 우리가 그걸 어떻게 누려야 되나 하는것이다. 어떻게 기도해야 하는것이다. 그것이 바로 보좌의 능력을 붙잡고 기도 하는것이다. 바로 3,9,3 에 나타나 있다. 성삼위 하나님의 능력을 붙잡고 기도 하는것이다. 보좌의 능력을 놓고 기도 하는것이다. 이 세상을 정복할 3시대의 축복 누리고 기도하는것이다. 이것을 놓고 이미 내것으로 누리면서 기도 할때 성령 충만의 역사는 자연적으로 일어날 것이다. 이것이 얼마나 감사한지 모른다. 아마 이것을 여러분들이 이미 누리고 있을줄 믿는다. 시편 1:2 말씀과 마찬가지로, “여호와의 율법을 즐거워 하여 율법을 주야로 묵상 하는 자로다” 즐거운 마음으로 하시기를 바란다. 말씀 통해서, 말씀의 충만함 통해서 우리에게 능력이 임하기 시작 하는것이다. 그렇게 되면 우리에게 자연적으로 오는 축복이 이사야 41:10 말씀이다, “두려워 하지 말라 내가 너와 함께 함이라” 이 축복을 누리게 된다. 하나님께서 나와, 또 우리와 함께 하시는 With 와 Immanuel 의 축복 누리게 된다. 우리가 계속 3,9,3 놓고 기도했다. 여러분의 기도로 다니면서도 하나님께서 함께 하시는구나 느낄수 있었다. 세밀하게 역사 하시는 것을 자세히 느낄수가 있었다. 맨날 저녁에 와서 하나님, 감사합니다 라는 소리밖에 안 나왔다. 이것이 바로 성령 충만함 이구나 하고 생각했다. 그러면서 굳세게 하리라, 참으로 너를 도와주리라. 식당에서 식사를 하는데 사람들이 바글바글했다. 몇만명씩 사람들이 오미크론으로 확진되는 상황인데 잘못하면 걸리는 상황이다. 임마누엘 서울 교회 중직자들과 함께 식사 하는데 다 옛날에 걸린 사람들과 앉은거다. 만약 내가 걸렸으면 일주일동안 못 들어오게 되었을거다. 대접을 하루 이틀이 아니라 일주일 내내 받으니 걱정이 되기는 하더라. 그럼에도 하나님께서 지켜주셨다. 정말 하나님께서 함께 하시는구나 느꼈다. 기도로 보좌의 축복 누리게 되면 이렇게 붙들어 주시고 하늘의 군대 동원해 주시는구나 느꼈다.
2) 순례자의 여정 The pilgrim's journey

그렇다면 하나님께서 왜 이런 축복 주시나. 하나님의 능력을 힘 입을수 밖에 없는 이유가 고후 4:4에 나온다. “그 중에 이 세상의 신이 믿지 아니하는 자들의 마음을 혼미하게 하여" 이 사단이 사실은 세상 신이다. 세상을 지배하고 있는 존재이다. 사단이 온 세상을 자기의 나라로 이룬다. 뿐만 아니라 엡 6:12 보면, “우리의 씨름은 혈과 육을 상대 하는것이 아니요 통치자들과 권세들과 이 어둠의 세상 주관자들과 하늘에 있는 악의 영들을 상대함이라". 세상에 어떤 존재들이 지배하고 있는가 나타내고 있는것이다. 세상 모든 지도자들이, 전부다 사단의 종노릇 하고 있는 형편 이라는 말이다. 그러나 우리 70인이 분명히 붙잡을것은 눅10:19 말씀이다, “내가 너희에게 뱀과 전갈을 밟으며 원수의 모든 능력을 제어할 권능을 주었으니 너희를 해칠자가 결코 없으리라. 하나님 나라가 임한 우리에게는 결코 정죄함이 없다. 우리가 이 축복속에 살고 있는것이다.
3) 순례자의 영적세계 The spiritual world of the pilgrim

그렇다면 우리가 누릴 영적 세계는 뭔가. 요한복음 16:33 이다, “세상에서 너희가 환난을 당하나 담대하라 내가 세상을 이기었노라”. 이미 주님께서는 십자가에서 세상을 이기셨기 때문에 사단의 나라, 세상 나라, 모든것이 이미 결박 되었다. 그렇기 때문에 우리의 고난, 문제, 환난에는 답이 있는것이지 멸망 당하는것이 아니라는것이다. 분명한 사실이다, 고난이라는 것은 틀림없이 하나님께서 우리에게 축복 주시기 위해 허락 하시는것 이다. 빌 1:12 이다. 형제들아 내가 당한 일이 도리어 복음 전파에 진전이 된 줄을 너희가 알기를 원하노라. 우리가 일을 당하게 되면 그 당한 일 때문에 더 하나님께 축복을 받을수 있게 되는 계기가 되는것이다. 하나님의 계획이 무엇인가 묻고 구하게 되면 보여지는것이다. 빌립보서 3:8, “모든 것을 해로 여김은 내 주 그리스도 예수를 아는 지식이 가장 고상하기 때문이라.” 분명한것은, 우리가 그리스도를 깊이 알면 알수록 더 깊은 축복속으로 들어가고 그리스도의 참된 능력을 체험할수 는 기회가 된다는 말이다. 기도할때 저는 연약합니다, 그리스도를 더 깊이 알게 해주세요 하는 기도가 얼마나 귀한지 모른다. 그럴때 하나님께서 틀림없이 더 깊게 깨닫게 하신다. 내가 목사님들 이나 은혜 받은 사람들 이야기 들어보면, “하나님, 살아계심을 좀 증거해 주세요, 당신을 더 깊이 알기를 원합니다" 라고 기도한 사람들 중에 응답 못 받은 사람이 없다. 마찬가지로 “하나님의 은혜를 더 깊이 알기를 원합니다” 라고 기도하면 반드시 응답이 온다. 하나님께서는 우리가 그리스도를 더욱 알고 살아계심을 더 알리게 하는것을 원하신다. 응답이 없는 분 계시는가. 정말 살아계신 그리스도를 알게 해주세요 체험하게 해주세요 기도해 보시라. 오직 그리스도를 붙잡을때 하나님께서 응답 주심을 믿는다. 그렇게 되면 사도행전 20:24 의 응답을 받게 된다, “바울아 두려워 말라 네가 가이사 앞에 서야 하리라". 기도하는 가운데 하나님께서 사자를 친히 보내셔서 메시지를 증거하는 역사가 나타난것이다. 시공간을 초월하는 세계 속으로 들어가는 축복을 받는것이다. 우리는 지금 이 축복을 이미 받고 있다는것이다. 정말 이것을 누려야 한다. 참 순례자의 축복을 누리는것이다.
3. 70인 정복자의 길 The path of the 70 conquerors
1) 나를 보좌화 Establishment of the throne in you
정복의 시작(수1:3) The start of conquest (Joshua 1:3)
정복의 과정 The process of conquest
정복의 결과 The result of conquest
그렇다면 우리가 정복자의 길로 갈수가 있다. 먼저 정복자의 길로 가기 위해서는 내가 보좌의 축복을 누리는것이다. 정복의 시작이 바로 3,9,3 의 축복을 누리기 시작하는것이다. 우리 보좌의 축복을 놓고 기도할때 정말 그 내용을 담고 기도 하시기를 바란다. 한마디 한마디, 성경구절 하나 하나가 정말 나에게 임한줄을 믿습니다 고백 하며 기도 하라는거다. 이것이 진정한 정복이다. 우리가 보좌의 축복 누리게 되면 사실 모든것 이미 끝난것이다. 모세, 여호수아, 다윗, 모두 이 보좌의 축복 누린 사람들이었다. 이 보좌의 축복 누리면 끝나는것이다. 여호수아 1:3에 말씀 처럼 이미 발 로 밟는 모든 곳을 네게 주었다, 하나님께서 준비하신 모든것을 누리는 축복의 과정 속으로 들어가시기를 바란다. 이렇게 되면 정복의 과정이 나오는데, 그것은 바로 임마누엘 누리는것이다. 함께 하심을 누리는것이다. 주님께서 나와 함께 하시는구나 그걸 누리는거다. 모든것이 합력해 선을 이루어 나가는 원니스의 축복을 누리게 된다. 그렇게 되면 오직의 응답을 여러분께서 누리게 될줄을 믿는다. 그리스도께서 참으로 모든 문제 해답 이라는 것을 사실적으로 체험하는 역사가 나타난다. 나에게만 주는 유일성의 응답, 블루오션의 응답을 받게 된다. 재창조의 역사가 일어난다. 정복자 에게 중요한것은 현장을 보좌화 하는것이다. 거기에 가장 중요한 것이 바로 사도행전 2:33 이다. “하나님이 오른손으로 예수를 높이시매 그가 약속하신 성령을 아버지께 받아서 너희가 보고 듣는 이것을 부어 주셨느니라". 이 말씀은 대단히 중요한 말씀이다. 성경 마태복음 28에 보면 아버지께서 하늘과 땅의 모든 권세 주셨다고 나와있다. 아버지께 받은 하늘과 땅의 모든 권세가 무엇이냐, 이 말이다. 모든 보좌의 축복을 말한다. 이것이 어떻게 나타나나, 예수를 높이시매 그가 약속 하신 성령을 아버지께 받았다, 라고 주님께서 말씀 하시고 계신다. 예수님께서 받으신것은 아버지의 영이다. 천지 창조 하실때 하나님께서 아버지의 영을 통해 하셨다. 예수님께서 이 땅에서 기적을 행하시기 전에 세례를 받을때 아버지의 영을 그에게 부어주셨다. 하나님의 성령은 천지를 창조하고 재창조에서 일으킬 뿐만 아니라 모든 기적을 일으키는 근본이다. 십자가에서 승리하신 예수님에게 하나님 아버지께서 성령을 부어주셨다. 중요한것은 아버지께 받아서 너희가 보고 듣는것을 부어 주셨느니라 라고 되어있다. 하나님의 어마어마한 천지 창조하시고 사람 살리시는 재창조의 능력을 아버지께 받아서 우리에게 주셨다는 것이다. 이것을 우리가 기도를 통해 받는것이다. 이것이 바로 아버지께서 약속하신 성령이다.
2) 현장의 보좌화 Establishment of the throne in the field

히 Hebrews 13:23
보좌의 축복을 누릴때 우리가 받을 성령이 바로 이것이다. 막 16:20, “제자들이 나가 두루 전파할새 주께서 함께 역사하사 또 다른 표적으로 말씀을 확실히 증거 하시느니라". 아버지께 받은 성령을 70인 들에게 마음껏 보여주신것을 나타낸다. 이 축복 누리시기를 바란다. 초대교회 모든 성도, 70인은 이것을 잘 이해 하고 있었다. 그래서 그들이 가는곳마다 어마어마 한 응답이 나온거다. 사도바울은 죽은 사람 까지 살리고 빌립 집사도 어마어마한 역사를 일으켰다. 하나님의 능력을 받아서 그렇다. 그런 능력을 받은 우리에게는 어떠한 환난과 문제가 와도 상관 없다 이 말이다. 그래서 모든 환난이 끝나고 나서 23절에 이야기 하고 있다. 이 저자는 이야기 한다, “우리 형제 디모데가 놓인것을 너희가 알라, 그가 속히 오면 내가 그와 함께 가서 너희를 보리라.” 네로 황제가 죽지 않았느냐, 우리가 이제 다시 왔다, 그렇다면 우리가 세계 복음화 위해서, 237 복음화 위해서 다시한번 시스템을 만들자, 이 말이다. 이것은 저자가 초대교회 성도들에게 하는 이야기가 아니라 바로 하나님이 우리에게 하시는 말씀인줄 믿는다. 우리가 이 70인 이다. 이것을 분명히 깨달으시기 바란다. 이것을 통해서 우리는 237 나라 5,000 종족 살려야 하는것이다. 그래서 우리가 교회에서 24 시스템을 만들어야 한다. 어떻게 만드나? 각자 나에게 주신 달란트와 업이 있다. 학교는 학교 나름대로 사업은 사업 나름대로 하나님이 주신 것이 있다. 가장 중요한것은 이것이 최고의 업이 되도록 기도해야 되고 사업을 하는 사람은 최고의 서밋이 되게 기도 해야 하는것이다. 최고의 제품이 나오게 해주소서. 최고의 학문을 연구하게 해주소서. 왜 그렇나, 세계 복음화를 위해서 그렇다. 시스템이 생기게 하기위해 그렇다. 그렇다면 하나님께서 이러한 축복 주실줄을 믿는다. 모든 방향 거기에 맞추면 하나님께서 문을 여시기 시작 하실것이다. 우리가 이것을 놓고 기도할때 하나님게서는 당신의 계획을 우리에게 보여주실줄을 믿는다. 분명히 우리가 놓고 기도하면 하나님께서 나를 서밋으로 만들으실텐데 그것에 대한 이유와 계획이 있다는것이다, 그걸 바라보는것이다. 그것이 보이기 때문에 우리가 설계 하는것이다. 모든것은 하나님의 영광과 세계 복음화 위해 방향 맞추는것이다. 그래서 모든것을 디자인 하는것이다. 분명히 여러분들에게 큰 축복 있게 될줄을 믿는다. 우리가 여기 그냥 앉아있는것이 아니다. 하나님께서 우리에게 주신 축복이 실로 어마어마 한것을 알수가 있다. 나는 연약해서, 이게 아니다. 아무것도 몰랐던 갈릴리의 어부들도 하나님께서 사용 하셨다. 하나님의 영이 내게 충만하게 임하게 되면 내게 똑같은 역사가 일어날줄을 믿는다. 이 언약 정말로 잡으시는 여러분 되시기를 바란다.
결론:
행 Acts 13:2
말씀 맺겠다. 행 13:2 말씀 붙잡으시기를 바란다, “주를 섬겨 금식할 때에 성령이 이르시되 내가 불러 시키는 일을 위하여 바나바와 사울을 따로 사우라 하시니”. 우리가 주신 이 언약 말씀 붙잡고 힘써 기도 하게 될때 성령께서 우리에게 깨닫게 해주시는 말씀이 있을줄을 믿는다. 그리고 바나바와 사울을 따로 세우신것처럼 하나님께서 여러분을 인도 하심이 분명히 나타날줄 믿는다. 이 축복 받으면 끝난거다. 이것은 이미 여러분에게 주어진 것이다. 이것을 발견만 하면 되는것이다. 다시한번 새로 시작 하시기를 바란다. 남은자에게 주신 축복 누리시는 여러분 되시기를 예수님 이름으로 축원한다.

Introduction
During my trip to Korea, I was very thankful and realized how precious your prayers are. Each and every moment, I could experience God’s great blessings and His presence. I realized this was all possible because my church members were praying for me and with this, I was very thankful. I am very thankful for you all. I read a news article and it was about the mission statement of Marriott Hotel which says, “To enhance the lives of our customers by creating and enabling unsurpassed vacation and leisure experience.” Walmart’s statement is, “Save people’s money so they can live better.” Each corporation has a mission statement and I am sure each one of us has a mission statement as well. You should have a lifelong mission statement. What is your mission in your life? You should hold onto your mission as you enter into your fields. What I am always holding onto is God’s commandment for me; to give glory to God, to do world evangelism, and to save 237 nations. We have been receiving a lot of grace regarding the ones who have remained and today’s sermon is about those who remained.
1. 70 of Those Who Remained
1) Those who remained from the Early Church
Verse 22 - Here we can see the “brethren” is referring to the remaining ones at the Early Church. In AD 64, there was a great fire that broke out in Rome and Emperor Nero blamed this incident on the Christians. This caused a great persecution to arise on the Christians at that time and during that time, great figures like Apostles Paul and Peter were killed as well as many Christians due to this conspiracy fabricated by Emperor Nero. After Apostles Paul and Peter were killed and time passed, the Roman Empire found Emperor Nero as a public enemy and condemned him to death. As a result, Emperor Nero fled and ended up committing suicide. Who were the brethren that this Bible verse is referring to? Calvin interpreted that it was Apostle Paul who wrote the book of Hebrews and so in this scripture, it was Paul writing to the Christians who were persecuted at that time. But many people opposed this theory and said Paul was not the author of Hebrews. As you know that the Bible was translated from Hebrew to Greek and during that time, Paul was someone who spoke and wrote Greek. However many individuals theorize that it was actually Apollo of Alexandria who is the author of Hebrews. After Emperor Nero committed suicide, the “brethren” that this Biblical Scripture was implying to were the Christians who were freed and left behind after they were persecuted and imprisoned during Emperor Nero’s time. Those who remain, who is the Bible referring to? They were not left behind by coincidence but God allowed them to remain behind for the sake of the gospel. God allowed the 12 disciples and the 70 workers to remain. We continued to speak about the 70 workers but it wasn’t exactly 70 workers. The 70 workers were referring to the people that God was utilizing and employing for His work.
2) 70 of those who remained
Exodus 1:5 “All those who were descendants of Jacob were seventy persons (for Joseph was in Egypt already).” - It was recorded in the Old Testament, the number 70. This did not include Jacob so there were more than 70 workers. This means that the 70 workers were referring to the people who held onto God’s covenant. Why do we emphasize 70 workers? This is the blessing of those who are within the covenant of God and the remaining ones left behind by God.
Luke 10:1 “After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go.” - For the sake of world evangelism, God prepared His workers. God is very pleased and sees His prepared workers as very important. After Jesus resurrected, Jesus gathered and called them before Him.
Acts 1:4 “And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, 'which,' He said, 'you have heard from Me.” - This is referring to the people who made a resolution and conclusion of only Christ. These were the people who were victorious in Christ and found their answer in only Christ. What we must absolutely hold onto is that God has prepared His workers. This contains all blessings. This is not a simple blessing. What kind of lives did these people live?
2. The Journey of the 70 Pilgrims
1) The start for the pilgrim
Where did the blessing of a pilgrim start?
It is talking about the 120 workers who gathered in Mark’s Upper Room as seen in Acts 1:14 “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.” - It is referring to those who remained. What did they do as the remaining ones? They gathered and continued together in prayer in one accord. This is important because they knew that they couldn’t overcome the world with their own strength so they sought after the power and strength in God alone. The people who came together with the conclusion of only Christ and gathered together and prayed, the answer and evidence that they received was the power of the Holy Spirit. Why did they come together and pray this way? They sought after the power of God to change their imprint, roots, and nature of Genesis 3, 6, and 11. With our own power and wisdom, we cannot overcome our natures of Genesis 3, 6, and 11. With God’s power, we can overcome all of this. Then, how can we enjoy this? How should we pray then? We should pray with the blessing of the heavenly throne. Pray with the power of the Triune God. Praying with the power of the heavenly throne. When you pray enjoying this as your own, then you can experience the great power of the Holy Spirit. You should be thankful for this. I am sure you are all enjoying this.
Psalm 1:2 “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.” - Find delight in God’s word. Through God’s word, God’s great power will come upon you.
If this happens, then the blessing of Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” will come upon you. God is with you and you can experience the comfort of Immanuel. We have continued to pray with 3, 9, 3. With prayer, we can experience the power to overcome all things and experience God being with you. I was able to experience and feel this more realistically. All I could do was give thanksgiving. I realized that this is what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I was able to enjoy Isaiah 41:10 to the fullest. I was having lunch at a restaurant in Korea, the church told me they would buy me lunch but the restaurant was packed. Even though it was during the pandemic, the restaurant was completely packed and all of the church members told me that they already got COVID-19. If I get COVID-19, then I won’t be able to come back to the states so I was worried. But God continued to protect me. I realized that God is truly with me. With prayer, I realized and felt that God continues to protect me with the power of the heavenly throne. Why does God give us these blessings?
2) The pilgrim's journey
The reason why we have no choice but to experience the power of heavenly throne is seen in 2 Corinthians 4:4 “Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.” - Satan is in control of the world and the world is running within Satan’s hands.
Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” - We can see who is in control of the world. We can see that Satan is in control of the world and the people of this world.
As 70 workers, we must hold onto the covenant of Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” - As people part of God’s kingdom, this is the power and authority that we possess. This is the life that we possess. Then, what is the spiritual world that we must enjoy?
3) The spiritual world of the pilgrim
John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” - Jesus Christ has already overcome the world and was victorious on the cross. Therefore, in the midst of our problems and crises, there is an absolute answer and solution. These problems and incidents are not pathways for destruction for us as children of God. This is absolute. Problems and tribulations are set before us to give us blessings from God. We must hold onto this.
Philippians 1:12, 3:8 “But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel. 3:8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.” - All of our incidents and events that occur in our lives are for God’s plans to be fulfilled in our lives. We are able to see God’s plan.
Philippians 3:8 - What is absolute is that the more we get to know Christ, the more blessings we will enter into. We can experience the great power of God. Even though we feel very lacking, if we pray and ask God to let us know Christ more then God will absolutely answer our problems. That prayer is so important. God will grant you wisdom to know God more and His plans. There are people who prayed to experience God’s power and experience His presence, I know all of them received an answer from this prayer. If you pray to know Christ more, God will absolutely answer you. God wants to help you know Him more. Are there problems in your life that are not solved yet? Ask God to know Christ more. When you hold onto only Christ, then God will absolutely answer you.
When you do this, then you will receive the answer of Acts 27:24 “Saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.' ” - During the time of prayer, God will send you an angel and show you His word. God will give you the answer to enter into the power of transcending time and space. We already possess this power, enjoy this blessing. This is the blessing of a pilgrim. Then, we can enter into the path of a conqueror.
3. The Path of the 70 Conquerors
1) Establishment of the throne in you
First, we must enjoy the blessing of the heavenly throne.
The start of conquest (Joshua 1:3) - The start of conquest is enjoying 3, 9, 3. This is true conquest. When we enjoy the blessing of the heavenly throne, then that is all that we need. Moses, Joshua, and David all enjoyed the blessing of the heavenly throne. When we hold onto this, then that is it.
Joshua 1:3 “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.” - When we do this, then the process of conquest will take place.
The process of conquest - That is Immanuel.
The result of conquest - You are enjoying that God is with you. Then, you can go towards oneness. Then you can enjoy the blessing of only. You can enjoy the blessing that Christ is everything. You can enjoy the unique answer.
2) Establishment of the throne in the field
Acts 2:33 “Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.” - This is a very important message. All authority of heaven and earth, what is this talking about? All of the power of the heavenly throne. How does the blessing of the heavenly throne come upon us? God created the world with the Word. When Jesus was baptized, Jesus was baptized with the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God not only created the world but allows all the works of God to be manifested. Jesus Christ who was victorious on the cross, the Spirit of God came upon Him. The great power of creation of God came upon Jesus and now that power has been given to us. We can receive this power through prayer. God promised to give us this. God promised us this promise, which was the power of the Holy Spirit. When we enjoy the blessing of the heavenly throne, then blessings will absolutely come upon us.
Mark 16:20 “And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.” - God poured this great power upon the 70 workers. Enjoy this. The 70 workers and Early Church understood this so wherever they went, amazing works took place. Even Peter saved many people and raised dead people back to life. Deacon Philip also performed many great miracles and works. This was because God’s power was upon them. We who have this power, no matter what problem or tribulation comes upon us, they are not considered as problems at all.
After all problems and tribulations ended, this was what happened in verse 23 - After Emperor Nero died, the Early Church set out to establish the system towards world evangelism. This may appear to be the words of the Early Church but this is what God is telling and commanding us. We are the 70 workers, we must hold onto this. Through this, God will save 237 nations and 500 tribes and nations. We must establish a system within our church. How can we make this system? Each one of us, we have a specialty and talent that God has given to us. You have your own school fields and occupation. What is most important is that we must become the best in what God has granted you. You need to pray to become the best summit in the field and work that God has given to you. Why is that? It is for the sake of world evangelism. For the system to be established. If that is so, then God will bless you. When you set your direction towards this, then God will give you great blessings. When we pray with this, then God will reveal His great plans to you. What is absolute is that when we pray to become the summit, then God will set you as the summit. But there is a reason and a plan of God on why you must become the summit. When you see this, then you can start to set out God’s plan for world evangelism. Then this is what it means to design. Great blessings will come upon you. The fact that we are sitting here at church, the great blessings that God has bestowed us is tremendous. You may say that you are lacking but that is nothing. God used the people of Galilee who were considered lacking and weak. If God’s power and Spirit is upon us, then the same great power and blessings will come upon us. Hold onto this covenant.
Conclusion
Hold onto Acts 13:2 “As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, 'Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.' ” - When we pray with the covenant that God has given to us then the Holy Spirit will reveal God’s Word to you. Just like God set apart Barnabas and Paul, God will set you apart for His great plan. This has already been given to you. You just need to discover this. Start anew. Enjoy the blessing of the remaining one.
