새 언약을 이루신 그리스도(히9:15-17)
서론
독일에 있는 조그만 오벌아머가우라는 마을에서 하나님과 한 약속을 400년 동안 지키니까 하나님께서 지금까지도 계속 살아계셔서 역사하고 계신 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 사람들이 하나님과 약속을 지키니까 하나님도 약속을 지금까지 지켜주시고 보호해주신 것을 볼 수 있다. 이 내용이 그리스도를 증거하는 내용이다. 하나님이 가장 기뻐하시는 내용이 아닌가 한다. 우리 교회는 복음만 증거하고 그리스도만 증거하는 교회가 되길 바란다. 각 교회마다 각자 개성을 갖고 독특하게 시스템을 갖고 할 수 있다. 그런데 우리 교회는 복음만 전하고 그리스도만 매주 선포하는 것으로 작정하고 하고있다. 저는 틀림없이 하나님께서 제일 기뻐하시는 것이라고 생각하고 있다. 뭐든 항상 우리는 그리스도를 증거하고 전도에 방향 맞춰서 메세지가 나갈 것이다. 주님께서 분명히 살아계시기 때문에 기뻐하시면서 역사하심이 일어나고 있는 줄로 믿는다. 저는 여러분들에게 1분, 3분, 5분 구원의 길을 매일 하라고 말씀드렸다. 저도 매일 하루도 빠지지 않고 하고 있다. 분명한 것은 그것을 할 때마다 주님께서 기뻐하고 계시다. 모르긴 해도 여러분들이 계속 구원의 길을 고백하면서 그려나갈 때에는 하나님께서 여러분들이 알지 못하는 질병까지도 가문의 모든 문제까지도 치유하시는 역사가 나타날 줄 믿는다. 계속 큰 축복 받으시기 바란다.
1. 첫번째 언약
1) 아담과의 첫 언약
오늘 말씀은 새 언약을 이루시는 그리스도 라는 말씀이다.
히 9:15 이로 말미암아 그는 새 언약의 중보자시니 이는 첫 언약 때에 범한 죄에서 속량하려고 죽으사 부르심을 입은 자로 하여금 영원한 기업의 약속을 얻게 하려 하심이라
중요한 단어들이 나온다. 먼저 잡아야할 것은 첫 언약이라는 말씀이 나타난다. 첫 언약이 무엇인가. 우리는 이것을 창세기에서 찾아봐야할 줄로 믿는다.
창 1:27-28 하나님이 자기 형상 곧 하나님의 형상대로 사람을 창조하시되 남자와 여자를 창조하시고. 28 하나님이 그들에게 복을 주시며 하나님이 그들에게 이르시되 생육하고 번성하여 땅에 충만하라, 땅을 정복하라, 바다의 물고기와 하늘의 새와 땅에 움직이는 모든 생물을 다스리라 하시니라
창 1:27 말씀에 자기 형상 곧 하나님의 형상대로 사람을 창조하셨다고 나온다. 그리고 28절에 축복을 어마어마하게 주셨다. 생육하고 번성하는 축복과 세상을 통치하는 축복을 주셨다. 하나님께서 이 어마어마한 축복을 약속하시면서 귀중한 언약을 주셨다.
창 2:17 선악을 알게 하는 나무의 열매는 먹지 말라 네가 먹는 날에는 반드시 죽으리라 하시니라
왜 이런 말씀을 주셨는가. 아주 귀중한 의미를 갖고있다. 창조된 인간에게 영원한 생명을 누릴 수 있는 방법을 주셨다. 너희가 말씀 안에서 살면 영원한 생명이 있을 것이라는 의미이다. 이것은 성경 전체의 흐름이다. 너희들이 말씀 속에서 살면 영원한 생명이 있을 것이고 말씀을 놓치면 위험하게 된다고 말씀하고 있다. 마귀는 창 3장에서 말씀을 놓고 유혹했다. 네가 하나님 말씀 안지켜도 안죽어, 거역해봐 하는게 사단의 말이었다. 그런데 6절 말씀에 아담과 하와가 하나님 말씀이 아니라 사단의 말을 따랐다. 그래서 24절에 에덴 동산에서 쫓겨난다. 이것이 성경 전체에 흐르는 사상이다. 그 결과를 보시기 바란다. 사단의 유혹을 받아서 넘어졌는데 그 이후로 모든 인간의 사단의 종이 되어버렸다. 평생 사단의 종이 되어서 영적인 고통을 받으면서 살아갈 수 밖에 없는 존재가 되었다. 말씀이 놓치니까 정말 하나님께서 말씀하신 그대로 죽음이 왔다. 죽음으로서 끝나는 것이 아니라 영원한 저주, 지옥이라는 형벌 속으로 들어갔다. 많은 사람들이 태어나서 말씀을 모르는 사람들은 살아가면서도 미래가 불안하다. 인간의 모든 정신문제는 여기서부터 시작된다. 미래가 항상 불안하고 초조하다. 뿐만 아니라 하나님을 떠난 인간으로 인해 이 땅이 저주를 받게되었다. 이 땅에 많은 지진과 기근이 끊임없이 일어나고 있다. 모든 사람들을 먹고 살기 위해서 땀을 흘려야한다. 살기 위해서 육신적인 고통 가운데 질병 가운데 어려움 가운데 살다가 죽어간다. 하나님께서는 이것을 아시고 창 3:15에 여자의 후손을 통해서 이 문제를 해결해주시겠다는 복음을 주셨다. 성경에 보면 그 말씀을 믿은 아담과 하와에게는 짐승을 죽여 피를 흘려서 가죽을 입혀주셨다. 살 수 있는 길을 보여주셨다. 그런데 그 후손들을 보게되면 계속 죄에서 벗어나지 못하는 삶을 살았다. 죄는 점점 깊어지게 된다. 그래서 노아 홍수를 통해서 모든 사람들이 멸망을 당했다. 바벨탑 심판을 받는 고통을 겪게 된다. 하나님을 떠난 인간을 위해서 다시 한 번 시작하셨다.
2) 이스라엘과의 첫 언약
창 12장에 아브라함을 부르신다.
창 12:1-3 여호와께서 아브람에게 이르시되 너는 너의 고향과 친척과 아버지의 집을 떠나 내가 네게 보여 줄 땅으로 가라 2 내가 너로 큰 민족을 이루고 네게 복을 주어 네 이름을 창대하게 하리니 너는 복이 될지라 3 너를 축복하는 자에게는 내가 복을 내리고 너를 저주하는 자에게는 내가 저주하리니 땅의 모든 족속이 너로 말미암아 복을 얻을 것이라 하신지라
하나님께서 아브라함에게 나타나서 말씀하실 때 아브라함은 여호와의 말씀을 따라갔다고 나온다.
창 12:4 이에 아브람이 여호와의 말씀을 따라갔고 롯도 그와 함께 갔으며 아브람이 하란을 떠날 때에 칠십오 세였더라
중요한 말씀이다. 모든 사람들이 말씀을 떠나 살고있는데 아브라함은 하나님의 말씀을 붙잡고 따라갔다. 말씀을 따라서 가나안 땅에 도착한 아브라함에게 하나님은 모든 약속을 다 성취시키셨다. 도저히 불가능한 가운데서도 100세가 되어서 자식을 주신다. 그리고 약속하신데로 그 후손들을 언약의 백성으로 삼으셨다. 하나님 말씀을 붙잡는 순간에 반드시 그 사람을 축복해주신다. 애굽에 노예살이할 때 항상 말씀하신 것이 아브라함에게 약속한 땅으로 가게 하겠다는 것이었다. 말씀을 따라가는 아브라함을 기뻐하시면서 아브라함과 후손에게 놀라운 축복을 주신다. 그리고 출애굽을 시킨 이스라엘 백성들을 향해서 하나님은 다시 말씀을 주셨다. 바로 출 20장에 나오는 십계명의 말씀이다. 천국백성이 마땅히 가져야할 말씀이다. 뿐만 아니다.
출 24:6-8 모세가 피를 가지고 반은 여러 양푼에 담고 반은 제단에 뿌리고 7 언약서를 가져다가 백성에게 낭독하여 듣게 하니 그들이 이르되 여호와의 모든 말씀을 우리가 준행하리이다 8 모세가 그 피를 가지고 백성에게 뿌리며 이르되 이는 여호와께서 이 모든 말씀에 대하여 너희와 세우신 언약의 피니라
계명을 주시면서 너희가 지키겠느냐 하시니까 백성들이 지키겠다고 맹세를 했다. 하나님께서 명령하셔서 소를 잡아서 피를 내서 그릇에 담게 만드신다. 하나는 제단에 뿌리게하고 하나는 백성들에게 뿌리게 했다. 말씀하기를 너희와 세우신 언약의 피니라 하고 말씀하고 있다. 피 언약이다. 만일에 지키지 아니하면 너희들이 이처럼 죽음을 당하게 될 것이다, 나도 생명을 걸고 약속을 지키겠다 하시는 말씀이다. 그렇게 피 언약을 지키겠습니다 하고 약속을 했다. 이런데 인간이라는 것이 참 이해하지 못하는 면이 있다. 홍해에서 엄청난 기적을 보고 뭐든지 하나님 말씀을 지키겠습니다 하고 맹세를 했던 그들이다. 그런데 육신이 약간 편해지니까 말씀을 다시 떠나게 된다. 하나님께서는 여러번 경고를 많이 하셨다. 그러나 이 백성들은 끝까지 돌아오는 것을 거부하면서 물질을 따라가고 우상을 따라갔다. 말씀을 떠나게되니까 자연적으로 이스라엘 백성들은 멸망을 당하고 비참한 꼴을 당하게 된다. 인간이 실패하는 모습을 보면서 하나님께서 가만히 계시지 않으셨다. 새로운 언약을 약속하셨다.
2. 새 언약
1) 새 언약의 내용
그게 바로 렘 31:31 말씀이다.
렘 31:31 여호와의 말씀이니라 보라 날이 이르리니 내가 이스라엘 집과 유다 집에 새 언약을 맺으리라
하나님께서는 아브라함에게 너희 후손을 영원히 축복하리라 하는 말씀을 이루시기 위해서 새 언약을 주신다. 여러분들이 정말 말씀이 귀중합니다 하면서 말씀을 붙잡고 오직 예수만 붙들겠습니다 맹세하게 되면 여러분 후손들이 실수를 해도 여러분 때문에 축복하신다. 하나님께서는 이들의 연약함을 너무나 잘 아신다.
렘 31:33 그러나 그 날 후에 내가 이스라엘 집과 맺을 언약은 이러하니 곧 내가 나의 법을 그들의 속에 두며 그들의 마음에 기록하여 나는 그들의 하나님이 되고 그들은 내 백성이 될 것이라 여호와의 말씀이니라
하나님께서는 이들이 연약함을 아시고 피언약을 기억하셔서 자기 말씀을 성취해 나가시는 것을 볼 수 있다. 이제는 너를 구원하기 위해서 내 법을 네 속에다 주겠다는 것이다. 마음 속에 기록하겠다는 것이다. 그래서 너희 하나님이 되고 너는 내 백성이 될 것이라. 진리의 성령을 통해서 그 마음 속에 믿는 자마다 성령이 인치는 역사가 나타난다는 것이다. 옛날에는 돌에다가 하나님 말씀을 새겼지만 이제는 성령을 통해서 마음에다 인치시겠다는 것이다. 새 언약의 축복은 그것으로 끝나지 않는다.
렘 31:34 그들이 다시는 각기 이웃과 형제를 가리켜 이르기를 너는 여호와를 알라 하지 아니하리니 이는 작은 자로부터 큰 자까지 다 나를 알기 때문이라 내가 그들의 악행을 사하고 다시는 그 죄를 기억하지 아니하리라 여호와의 말씀이니라
옛날에는 하나님 백성이 되었음에도 또 죄를 지면 다시 짐승을 갖고와서 용서함을 받아야한다. 이제는 한 번 믿고 영접하게 되면 영원히 네 죄를 기억하지 않겠다는 것이다. 새 언약을 통해서 행하겠다는 것이다. 엄청난 축복이다. 우리가 이 축복 속에 살고있다. 이 축복이 어떻게 시작되었는가.
눅 22:20 저녁 먹은 후에 잔도 그와 같이 하여 이르시되 이 잔은 내 피로 세우는 새 언약이니 곧 너희를 위하여 붓는 것이라
바로 이 새 언약은 어떻게 성취되었는가. 십자가에서 흘리는 내 피를 통해서 성취시키시겠다는 것이다. 옛날에는 죄를 질 때마다 양을 쳐서 피제사를 드렸지만 이제는 그럴 필요가 없다는 것이다. 언약의 피를 믿으라는 것이다. 내가 너희를 위하여 흘리는 피를 믿기만 하면 너희들은 모든 문제가 해결 될 것이라는 것이다. 그러면 새 언약의 피가 무엇인가.
2) 새 언약의 피
히 9:15 이로 말미암아 그는 새 언약의 중보자시니 이는 첫 언약 때에 범한 죄에서 속량하려고 죽으사 부르심을 입은 자로 하여금 영원한 기업의 약속을 얻게 하려 하심이라
중보자라는 말씀이 나타난다. 왜 중보자가 필요한가. 하나님 말씀을 버린 인간에게 어려움이 왔는데 도저히 하나님을 만날 수 없는 상황이 되어버렸다. 쫓겨난 인간은 마귀를 쫓아다니는 하나님과 원수가 된 관계가 되었다. 이 상태로는 누구도 하나님을 만날 수 없다. 모든 인간은 하나님의 원수이다. 그런데 이것을 만나게 할 수 있는 자가 있는데 그것이 새 언약의 중보자라는 말이다.
엡 2:14 그는 우리의 화평이신지라 둘로 하나를 만드사 중간에 막힌 담을 허시고
하나님과 우리와 관계는 원수된 관계고 담이 있어서 만날래야 만날 수 없는 관계이다. 이 담을 헐어버려야한다. 이 담을 어떤 방법으로 허셨는가. 죽음으로 허셨다는 것이다. 하나님과 인간을 화평하게 하기위해서 죽음으로서 중보자의 역할을 감당하셨다. 예수님께서 십자가에서 못박혀 죽으심을 통해서 담이 무너짐으로서 하나님 만날 수 있는 길이 열린 것이다. 그래서 그를 우리는 참 선지자 되신 분이시다, 하나님 만나는 길을 여신 분이시다 하고 말한다. 그러면 어떻게 중보자의 역할을 감당하셨는가.
히 9:12 염소와 송아지의 피로 하지 아니하고 오직 자기의 피로 영원한 속죄를 이루사 단번에 성소에 들어가셨느니라
그 원인이 죄인데 이 죄를 해결해야하는 것이다. 주님께서 십자가에 못박혀 돌아가신 것은 우리를 대속하기 위해 피를 흘리신 것이다. 대속자로 오셔서 완전히 죽으셨다. 하나님의 진도를 풀기 위해서는 예수님께서 완전히 우리 죄를 짊어지시고 죽으셔야 한다. 우리 죄의 흔적이 완전히 없어진 것을 보시고 그제서야 진노를 푸셨다. 그래서 주님께서는 대제사장으로서 완전히 죽으셨다. 예수님께서 완전히 죽으심을 통해서 우리 죄가 완전히 죽었다. 그동안에 우리 가지고 있던 오염된 양심이나 근본 문제가 완전히 죽은 것이다. 그래서 우리가 새 피조물이 된 줄로 믿는다. 또 한가지 중요한 내용이 나타난다. 바로 그것이 오늘 말씀 16, 17절 말씀이다.
히 9:16-17 유언은 유언한 자가 죽어야 되나니 17 유언은 그 사람이 죽은 후에야 유효한즉 유언한 자가 살아 있는 동안에는 효력이 없느니라
여기에는 놀라운 십자가에 축복이 들어있다. 예수님은 하나님의 모든 권세를 가지신 왕되신 분이다. 하나님의 아들되신 예수님은 하나님의 모든 상속을 받을 자이다. 그런데 이 예수님께서 오셔서 상속자로서 우리를 위해서 죽으셨다. 예수님께서 받으신 모든 권세가 우리에게 넘어왔다. 지난 시간에 말씀드렸다. 예수님께서 우리 모든 죄를 짊어지시고 죽으셨다는 것은 예수님께서 가지신 모든 것이 우리의 것이 된다고 했다. 우리의 죄는 예수님에게 다 전가됬지만 예수님의 모든 축복은 우리에게 전가된 것이다. 바로 그 말씀이다. 예수님께서 우리 죄를 위해서 대속의 피를 흘리시고 완전히 죽으셨는데 이제는 주님께서 가시진 모든 하늘의 권세와 능력이 우리에게 상속이 되었다. 우리는 어마어마한 권세를 받게된다. 왕되신 주님께서 돌아가셨지만 이제는 우리가 왕이 되는 것이다. 이 축복을 누리시는 여러분 되시기 바란다. 그래서 우리는 이 놀라운 축복을 받은 자로서 세상을 살리는 직분을 감당해야한다. 우리를 공연히 세상의 전도자로 세상을 지배할 자로 세우신 것이 아니다. 세상을 치유하기 위해서 이런 권세를 주신 줄로 믿는다. 우리가 시대의 문제를 해결하는 치유자가 되어야겠다.
3. 시대 치유
1) 시대 문제
지금 이 시대에는 이해하지 못하는 상황이 너무나 많이 일어나고 있다. 우리는 영적인 눈을 뜨고 치유를 해나가야 할 줄로 믿는다. 앞으로 남자 여자 화장실도 구분하지 않는다고 말하고 있다. 남자 여자 평등인데 뭐 구분이 필요하냐는 것이다. 분명히 이렇게 되면 성범죄가 늘어날 것임을 알고있음에도 이런 이야기를 하고있다. 그 뿐만 아니다. 퀴어축제라고 있다. 게이들이 벌거벗고 하는 식이다. 게이들은 태어날 때 부터 그런 인자를 가지고 태어나는데 어떻게 하느냐 보호해줘야한다 하는 명목으로 하고 있다. 보호해주지 말자는 말이 아니다. 그들이 연약한 것을 알고 기도하면서 치유해줘야할 텐데 오히려 조장하는 일을 만들고 있다. 요새는 초등학교, 중학교에서 게이를 조장하고 타락의 길로 가도록 만들고 있다고 한다. 상상할 수 있는 일인가. 분명히 이렇게 되면 세상이 어두워지고 아이들이 타락의 길로 갈 것이라는 사실을 정책자들은 알고있다. 그런데 그것을 막는 것이 아니라 더 하도록 만든다. 뿐만 아니다. 마약 문제는 정부에서도 심각한 문제로 대두되고 있다. 그런데 정부에서는 마리화나를 허용하는 정책을 시행하고 있다. 그런데 마리화나를 피게되면 정신이 돌고 이상한 짓거리를 한다는 것을 그 사람들은 알고있다. 그런데도 그렇게 자꾸만 하고 있다. 여러분 그것을 결정하는 결정자들은 똑똑한 사람들이다. 무엇이 옳고 틀린지를 정확하게 아는 사람들이다. 그런데 왜 그런 짓을 하는가. 여기서 분명히 잡아야겠다. 그들도 어쩔 수 없이 그렇게 할 수 밖에 없는 상황에 있다. 그것이 바로 요 8:44이다.
요 8:44 너희는 너희 아비 마귀에게서 났으니 너희 아비의 욕심대로 너희도 행하고자 하느니라—
마귀가 붙잡고 컨트롤 하기 시작하면 어떤 인간도 어쩔 수가 없다. 이런 시대에 살고 있는 우리는 어떻게 해야겠는가.
2) 영적 전쟁
성경에 그 방법이 기록되어있다.
엡 6:12 우리의 씨름은 혈과 육을 상대하는 것이 아니요 통치자들과 권세들과 이 어둠의 세상 주관자들과 하늘에 있는 악의 영들을 상대함이라
우리는 영적 전쟁하는 시대에 살고있다. 오늘 귀중한 말씀을 주셨다.
롬 8:15 너희는 다시 무서워하는 종의 영을 받지 아니하고 양자의 영을 받았으므로 우리가 아빠 아버지라고 부르짖느니라
우리는 그리스도의 상속자이다. 아버지의 상속자이다. 우리에게는 놀라운 왕권이 있다.
눅 10:19 내가 너희에게 뱀과 전갈을 밟으며 원수의 모든 능력을 제어할 권능을 주었으니 너희를 해칠 자가 결코 없으리라
바로 예수님의 권세가 내 권세니까 이것을 사용하라는 말이다. 어떤 흑암의 권세가 온다고 할 지라고 예수님 이름 앞에서는 멸망당할 수 밖에 없다는 것이다.
행 1:8 오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라 하시니라
이 말씀은 이 세상에 흑암이 어떤 역사를 이룬다고 해도 걱정하지 말라는 것이다. 하나님의 권능을 받게되면 반드시 땅 끝까지 증인이 될 것이라는 말이다. 성령의 능력을 받게되면 능력갖고 싸우라는 말씀이다. 우리는 이미 하나님의 상속자인 줄 믿는다. 이 축복 누리시기 바란다. 어떤 문제가 있더라도 문제될 것이 없다.
결론
마 28:20 내가 너희에게 분부한 모든 것을 가르쳐 지키게 하라 볼지어다 내가 세상 끝날까지 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라 하시니라
주님께서 우리와 함께 계시다. 우리에게도 왕권이 주어졌다. 우리가 예수님의 이름으로 싸우게 되면 반드시 승라하게 될 줄로 믿는다. 하늘과 땅의 권세를 가지신 분이 예수님이다. 그 예수님의 권세가 우리 권세이다. 우리도 하늘과 땅의 모든 권세를 가졌다. 승리할 줄로 믿는다. 꼭 가르쳐 지키게 하라고 하셨다. 내가 너희에게 분부한 것을 가르치라고 하셨다. 말씀을 가르치라는 말이다. 이 세상이 멸망 당한 것은 말씀 때문이다. 말씀 하나 잡았더니 아브라함이 엄청난 축복을 받았다. 주님은 말씀대로 모든 것을 성취하셨다. 말씀을 붙잡게되면 엄청난 역사가 일어날 줄로 믿는다. 승리하시는 여러분 되시기 바란다.
Christ Who Fulfilled the New Covenant (Hebrews 9:15-17)

“15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. 16 For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives.”
Introduction
It was a very touching video. In this village in Germany, they held onto and kept God’s promise for 400 years so God continued to show His great works. The people kept God’s promise so God continued to keep and protect His promise as well. This content was about the proclamation of Jesus Christ. What makes God the most happy is when Christ is proclaimed and confessed. In our church, we share about only the gospel and Christ, I pray that our church will be that kind of church that continues to do that. You can do many things in a church and you may ask why we must focus on only Christ when we can do many other things but every church is individually distinct and possesses different characteristics as well as carry out different systems; however, our church must proclaim only Christ and the gospel. Undoubtedly I think what makes God the most happy, is this. Whatever we do, we must always proclaim of only Christ and center on all things on the evangelism of the gospel. This is because God is alive and God will be happy with this, and as a result, God will absolutely work. I have been speaking to you about the basic salvation message (BSM), the 1, 3, and 5 minute versions. Every single day, I make sure to not leave this out of my daily routine and continue to do it. When we do this, I was able to confirm that God is happy when I do the BSM. When you continue to do the 1, 3, and 5 minute BSM and confess the gospel, then God will heal all problems and diseases within your personal and family lines unimaginable to you. Continuing to receive tremendous blessings. God has given us a precious message today as well. Today’s title is, “Christ Who Fulfilled the New Covenant.”
1. The First Covenant
1) The first covenant with Adam
Verse 15 - There are important terms written here. First, we must hold onto the message of the first covenant. What is the first covenant? We need to find this within the book of Genesis. When God created mankind, it was written that mankind was created in God’s image as we can see in Genesis 1:27-28, 2:16-17 (“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.' 2:16-17 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, 'Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.' ”) - And as a result of God’s creation, mankind was given tremendous blessings and authority. Man was given the authority and power to subdue and conquer the world. God has promised tremendous blessings to mankind and gave man an important covenant. This is the first covenant.
The first covenant was written Genesis 2:16 - Why did God give man this covenant? This has an important meaning. Mankind who are creations, they were given the blessing to enjoy the blessing of eternal life. What confirmed of this promise of eternal life was for mankind to keep God’s covenant. This is the flow of the entire Bible. When you live within the word, then you will gain eternal life but if you lose hold of the word, then you will be in danger.
Genesis 3:4-5, 6, 24 (“Then the serpent said to the woman, 'You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.' 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 13 And the Lord God said to the woman, 'What is this you have done?' 24 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.”) - Satan deceived and tempted mankind by distorting the word of God. Satan told man that if they don’t keep God’s word, then it is okay and they will be fine. This was how Satan tempted man.
Genesis 3:6 - Adam and Eve didn’t remember God’s word but rather followed Satan’s words instead.
Genesis 3:24 - As a result, Adam and Eve were casted out of the Garden of Eden. This was the flow of the entire Bible. Look at the results. Mankind fell due to Satan’s temptation and as a result, this caused disasters and curses to fall upon mankind. Mankind had no choice but to live bound as slaves to Satan eternally. Not only that but when they lost hold of the word of God, it happened exactly what God told them would happen, death came to them. It doesn’t end with death but eternal damnation of hell is waiting for mankind. Many people are born into this world not knowing the word of God and always living an anxious life. This is where all fundamental problems of mankind’s start. Their future is always full of uncertainty and anxiety. Mankind who are separated from God, they live a cursed life. Countless natural disasters are continuing to befall onto this world and mankind has to work hard and sweat to survive in this world. And then, mankind suffers diseases and at the end, they die.
God knowing this, if you look in Genesis 3:15 (“And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”) - God gave us the gospel by sending us Jesus Christ. If you look in the Bible, Adam and Eve who believed in the word of God, they had to sacrifice an animal and shed its blood. God was showing them the way to live. If you look at their children, they weren’t able to come out of their disasters and curses. The sins of mankind continued to get worse and worse. That is why judgment came upon mankind through the Noah’s flood and the Tower of Babel incident. However, mankind who became separated from God, there was a new start.
2) The first covenant with Israel
Genesis 12:1-3, 4 (“Now the Lord had said to Abram: Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.' 4 So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.”) - God came before Abraham and gave him this covenant. Then, God promised Abraham that he will be promised great blessings upon his generations and family lines. God came before Abraham and gave this promise of Genesis 12:4, Abraham obeyed and listened to God’s covenant. This is important. Many people lived away from God’s word but Abraham continued to hold onto and followed God’s covenant. He followed God’s covenant to the land of Canaan and as a result, he received tremendous blessings and God’s covenant was fulfilled within his life. Even in times of hopelessness, God gave Abraham a son at an old age. And through Abraham’s son, Isaac, great blessings came upon his family line. This means that when you hold onto the covenant, then God will bestow great blessings onto you. In Egypt, they lived as slaves but God always told the Israelites to go to the land that He promised to Abraham. God blessed Abraham who followed His covenant. Not only that but God gave the Israelites His word during the Exodus as they were living in the wilderness.
That word was the 10 commandments. This was the word that children of God should hold onto as people of God. Not only did God give His word but there is an important word written in Exodus 20:1-3, 24:6-8 (“And God spoke all these words, saying: 2 'I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 You shall have no other gods before Me.' 6 And Moses took half the blood and put it in basins, and half the blood he sprinkled on the altar. 7 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people. And they said, 'All that the Lord has said we will do, and be obedient.' 8 And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, 'This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you according to all these words.' ”) - All people of God vowed to keep God’s covenant. God commanded them to sacrifice a cow which would symbolize the coming Jesus. Half of the blood was spread onto the altar and the other half spread to the people. This was to represent the blood of the covenant. The blood of the covenant. If they didn’t keep this covenant, then death would come to them. God said that He will stake His life and keep His covenant, which meant that He was willing to die to keep the covenant with His people. The people vowed to keep God’s covenant as they were spread with the blood. But as humans, we are so fickle. Even though they saw the great miracle at the Red Sea and they vowed to keep God’s covenant as well as became so amazed and so lifted up after seeing all of this, they became comfortable and they thought it was okay not to keep God’s covenant and word anymore. God gave them many warnings to return back to Him but the people ignored returning back to God and continued to follow after their idols. When they departed from God’s word, disasters and failure came to the Israelites. Pitiful results came to them. But God saw the failure of mankind and didn’t just sit still. He gave them the blessing of salvation but the people failed to hold onto so He promised them a new covenant.
2. The New Covenant
1) The content of the New Covenant
That new covenant is written in Jeremiah 31:31, 33-34 (“Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”) - In order to fulfill this covenant, God set a new covenant for them just like He gave the covenant to Abraham. When you obey and keep God’s covenant and resolve to keep it, even if your children and family line makes mistakes, God will continue to bless them because of you.
God knows man’s weaknesses so well so that is why when you look in Jeremiah 31:33 - God knew of man’s weaknesses but continued to follow up and keep His covenant with man till the end. In order to save us, God said that He has instilled the word within your heart. It has been instilled within our heart. In this way, He will be our God and we will be His people. This means that when the Holy Spirit comes inside of us, great and tremendous works will take place. In the Old Testament, they kept the tablet stone but now, the word has been now instilled in our hearts. The new covenant doesn’t end here.
Jeremiah 31:34 - Long time ago, even if you became a person of God and committed sin, you still had to bring an animal sacrifice and sacrifice it to receive cleansing of your sins but now we don’t have to do that. When we accept Christ then God said that He will eternally never remember and forget our sins. Through the new covenant, God said that He will carry this out. This is a tremendous blessing. We are living within this blessing. How can we start within this blessing?
It is through Luke 22:20 (“Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.' ”) - How can we testify and fulfill the new covenant? It was when the blood of Christ was fulfilled. Through the blood of the cross, the new covenant was absolutely fulfilled. In the Old Testament, they had to sacrifice an lamb but this is no longer needed. What we must remember always is the blood of the covenant. The blood of the new covenant, when we believe in this then all problems will be solved. If that is so, what is the blood of the new covenant?
2) The blood of the New Covenant
Verse 15 - “Mediator” - Why do we need a mediator? Mankind who discarded God’s word and followed after Satan, there was no way for them to meet God in the situation that mankind was in. In other words, mankind who were casted out by God, they became enemies of God who followed after Satan. Through this state, they couldn’t meet God in any way or method. All mankind were considered an enemy to God. But there was a way to meet God, this was possible through a mediator.
Ephesians 2:14 (“For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation.”) - Our relationship with God was considered treacherous and our way to meet God was blocked off with a wall. We had to break down this wall to be with God once again. How was the wall broken? It was through death. In order to reunite mankind with God, death had to take place. Jesus Christ died on the cross and through His death, this wall was broken and the way to meet God was opened once again. Then, this means that Jesus Christ is the True Prophet who opened the way to meet God once again. Then, how did He fulfill death?
Hebrews 9:12 (“Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.”) - The method was through the blood of the cross of Jesus Christ. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, through His blood, we were able to live again. He came as the mediator and completely died for us. In order to relieve the wrath of God, Jesus Christ had to die for us completely. After God saw that the sins of mankind were completely forgiven, then God’s wrath would subside. That is why Jesus Christ as the True Priest died for us as a mediator. Through Jesus’s complete death, our sins have been completely forgiven. All of our fundamental problems and original sin have been completely forgiven. That is why we have become a new creation. Here, we must hold onto something important.
That is what is written in verses 16-17 - Here, there’s a great blessing of the cross. Jesus has all the authority of God as the True King. He is the Son of God which means that He is the heir of God. When Jesus Christ came, He came as the heir of God and died for us. All authority of Jesus has been given and transferred to us. Last week we spoke about this, when Jesus Christ bore all of our sins and died, not only did He die but everything that was within Jesus has been transferred to us as children of God. All of our sins have been transferred to Jesus but all of the blessings and authority of Jesus has been transferred to us. This is what it is saying. When Jesus Christ completely died, all authority of heaven and earth has been transferred to us. We have received tremendous blessings. Jesus Christ returned as a King but we are also kings. Enjoy this blessing. You must enjoy it. We who have received tremendous blessings and we need to take on the role to save the world.
3. Historical Healing
1) The problem of this age
God didn’t you bring into this world to just survive but to heal this world. That is why we must stand as the healers who can heal this age and heal the problems of this age. As you know very well, in this age, many things are happening that we can’t understand and comprehend. We need to open our spiritual eyes and bring healing. But there are young remnants here but there will be no distinction between female and male restrooms in the future. There will be no distinction between a male and female gender in the future. This will cause more crimes and sexual offenses to increase in the future. Not only that but you got the queer festivals where all homosexuals gather and party together. The homosexuals are saying that they are born with this identity so people are saying that the world must protect them. I am not sayin that we shouldn’t protect them but we who know their weaknesses need to help them receive healing. But instead people are making strange decisions and accepting this. In primary to secondary schools, we can see that the world is bringing confusion and allowing homosexuality to be more acceptable and open. If the world continues this way, then the world will become more dark and corrupt and our children will fall into deeper corruption. But the leaders are aware of this. They are not blocking this but rather allowing and promoting it. Not only that but the problem of drug addiction is a severe problem. But the nation is allowing a law to allow and legalize marijuana use. When you smoke marijuana, your mind will be altered and affected and people know this but they are continuing to allow it. The politicians who are allowing this, they are not dumb but are smart individuals. They know from right to wrong but why are they doing all of this? We must absolutely hold onto that they have no choice but to live like that and make decisions like that.
That is John 8:44 (“You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”) - In other words, Satan is holding onto them in the back and when you are controlled by Satan, then you can’t do anything and have no choice but to consolidate to the world. In this age, what must we do? Once again, we need to hold onto what we must do today. When you look in the Bible, the Bible opens a way to solve this problem.
2) Spiritual warfare
Ephesians 6:12 (“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”) - We are living in this world fighting a spiritual battle. Today’s passage is very important.
Romans 8:15 (“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, 'Abba, Father.' ”) - We are heirs of God. We heirs of God, the Father. This means that we possess great kingship.
Luke 10:19 (“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”) - God’s authority is ours so this means that we should use this authority. No matter what Satan does, with God’s authority and His name, Satan has not no choice but to bound.
Jesus Christ said in Acts 1:8 (“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”) - No matter how Satan works, there is nothing for you to worry about. When we receive God’s authority, then we can proclaim the word of God to the ends of the word. When we receive the power of the Holy Spirit, then we can overcome all things. We are already heirs of God. Enjoy this blessing. No matter what problem it is, it is not a problem.
Conclusion
Hold onto Matthew 28:20 (“Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.”) - God is with us. We have great authority. When we pray in Jesus’ name, then we will receive great authority and power. Jesus has all authority of heaven and earth, which means His authority is ours. This means that we also possess all authority of heaven and earth. Truly be victorious. What should we keep and observe? It is said to hold onto and keep God’s word. The reason why mankind faced destruction was because they lost hold of the word of God. When Abraham held onto God’s word, great blessings came to him. Jesus fulfilled everything with the word of God, therefore, when you hold onto the word of God, great blessings and works will take place. May you place your hand on your weaknesses once again and pray for healing.
