“예루살렘 멸망의 의미"

1 보라 주 만군의 여호와께서 예루살렘과 유다가 의뢰하며 의지하는 것을 제하여 버리시되 곧 그가 의지하는 모든 양식과 그가 의지하는 모든 물과
2 용사와 전사와 재판관과 선지자와 복술자와 장로와
3 오십부장과 귀인과 모사와 정교한 장인과 능란한 요술자를 그리하실 것이며
4 그가 또 소년들을 그들의 고관으로 삼으시며 아이들이 그들을 다스리게 하시리니
5 백성이 서로 학대하며 각기 이웃을 잔해하며 아이가 노인에게, 비천한 자가 존귀한 자에게 교만할 것이며
6 혹시 사람이 자기 아버지 집에서 자기의 형제를 붙잡고 말하기를 네게는 겉옷이 있으니 너는 우리의 통치자가 되어 이 폐허를 네 손아래에 두라 할 것이면
7 그 날에 그가 소리를 높여 이르기를 나는 고치는 자가 되지 아니하겠노라 내 집에는 양식도 없고 의복도 없으니 너희는 나를 백성의 통치자로 삼지 말라 하리라

서론 Intro
이사야서를 가지고 설교를 하고 있다. 특히 이사야서는 구약의 역사적 사건을 다루기 때문에 먼저 역사적 배경을 알고 들어야 정확하게 이해 할수가있다. 역사적인 배경을 알아야지만 정확하게 그 내용을 이해하고 응답 또한 받게될줄 믿는다. 이 역사적인 사실은 이사야서 1:1 에 “유다왕 웃시야와 아하스와 히스기야 시대에 아모스의 아들 이사야가 유다와 예루살렘에 대하여 본 이상이라” 라고 나온다. 웃시야 왕 부터 시작 되는것을 볼수가 있다. 웃시야 왕은 남유대왕의 10대 왕 이었다. 처음에 그는 하나님을 아주 잘 섬겼다. 그래서 하나님께서는 유다와 웃시야 왕에게 많은 축복을 주셨다. 그 풍성한 축복을 받고 나라가 장성해져갔다. 그런데 나라가 강해지고 나니 웃시야 왕이 교만해 진것이다. 그래서 성전에 들어가 직접 제사장들만 할수 있는 향을 내가 피우겠다, 하나님이 나를 사랑하시니 괜찮을것이다 하며 피운것이다. 그 순간에 그렇게 하나님의 사랑을 받던 웃시야가 하나님의 즉시 치심을 받아 문둥병에 걸렸다. 그대로 성전에서 쫓겨나 별궁에 갇혀 평생을 나음 받지 못하고 지내다가 죽음을 맞이하는 모습이 나온다. 별궁에 있는 동안 아들인 요담이 아버지를 대신해서 통치를 한것이다. 요담은 왕이 된 후 아버지 웃시야가 잠시 교만함 때문에 문둥병에 걸리게된 모습을 보고 이에 대한 두려움이 있었다. 그렇게 웃시야의 아들 요담은 두려움 속에서 16년동안 나라를 통치하게 된다. 요담이 죽고 난 뒤에 아하스가 왕이 된다. 16년 동안 유다 나라를 통치 하게 되는데, 이 사람은 특이하게도 하나님을 떠나 바알신을 섬기게 된다. 여기서 분명한것은 하나님을 떠난 그 순간에 흑암이 반드시 개인이든 나라이든 그 위에 임하게 되고 아하스는 전혀 이런 사실을 몰랐다. 하나님을 떠나니 흑암이 역사해 그 동안에 웃시아 때에도 요담 때에도 없던 전쟁이 갑자기 발발한것이다. 형제국가인 북이스라엘 왕국의 베가 왕이 남유다를 공격해 온것이다. 막강한 군대가 있었음에도 순식간에 전쟁에 패해 하루만에 12만명이 전사하게 된다.
대하 2 Chronicles 28:22-23
왕하 2 Kings 16:9-11
그리고 20만명의 여자들이 포로로 잡혀가게 된다. 역대하 28:22 장을 보면 아주 희안한 말씀이 나와있다. “ 이 아하스 왕이 곤고할 때에 더욱 여호와께 범죄하여”. 하나님 께서는 깨닫게 하기 위해 어려움을 허락하신것인데 아하스는 이로 인해 더욱더 악한 하나님 떠난 상태로 타락했다. 이 왕이 어떤 생각을 했냐면, 아, 나를 공격해 오는 이방나라의 신의 힘이 너무 강력하니 우리가 지는것이구나 나도 그 이방신을 섬기게되면 그가 나를 도와주겠지 이렇게 우상 신을 섬기기 시작한것이다. 그런데 그 신이 자기를 도와주지 않았다 라고 이야기 하고 있다. 하나님께서는 이렇게 계속 메시지를 주신다. 이제는 아람왕 르신과 북이스라엘 왕이 협력을 해 유다를 멸망시키기 위해 공격해 들어오는것이다. 어려움을 당한다는것는 하나님께서 나에게 돌아와라, 나에게 기도해라 하는 신호인데 아하스 왕은 그 방법 대신 원수국가 앗수르에 찾아가 나를 좀 도와달라 하며 고개를 숙이는것이다. 앗수르는 드디어 점령할 때가 왔구나 하며 군대를 끌고와 아람 나라를 완전히 점령해서 르신을 죽여버리고 많은 북이스라엘 영토까지 점령한다. 이 아하스는 앗수르가 너무나 고마워서 금은보화를 조공을 바치며 그에게 인사하러 간다. 아하스가 앗수르 왕을 만나러 다메섹에 도착하니 그곳에 어마어마한 신전이 세워져 있는것이다. 그걸 보고 얼마나 감동되고 은혜를 받았는지, 아 앗수르가 강한 이유가 이방신을 믿고 이 어마어마한 신전을 지어서 막강한 군대가 되었구나 생각했다. 그렇게 거기서 설계도를 얻어서 유대 제사장에 보내 어서 이대로 똑같이 신전을 만들어라 지시한다. 제사장으로서 왕이여 그러시면 안됩니다 말려야 될텐데 우리야 제사장은 그대로 설계도를 받아 예루살렘 성전 안에 신전을 짓는다. 그렇게 하나님을 섬기는 유다가 우상국가가 되어 버린다.
1. 우상국가가 된 유다 Judah turns into an idolatrous nation
1) 하나님의 제거하심 God takes away everything
사 Isaiah 3:1-5, 12
3장1절 말씀이 바로 그 대목이다. 하나님이 너무나 진노 하셔서 이사야에게 메시지 주시는것이다, “보라 만군의 주 여호와께서 예루살렘과 유다가 의뢰하며 의지하는 것을 제하여 버리시고 곧 그가 의지하는 모든 양식과 그가 의지하는 모든 물과" 하나님께서는 유다를 치유하기 위한 방법으로 모든 타락되고 부패된 요소를 제거 하시기로 한것이다. 제일 먼저 제거 하신것이 바로 경제 였다. 먹는것 마시는것을 막으시는것을 볼수있다. 하나님 떠나게 되면 나라든, 개인이든, 경제 문제부터 오게 되어있다. 그리고 2,3절 보면, “용사와 전사와 재판관과 선지자와 복술자와 장로와 오십부장과 귀인과 모사와 정교한 장인과 능란한 요술자를 그리하실 것이며.” 모든 지도자들을 말한다. 제사장 부터 선지자 까지 모든 사람들이 썩어 빠져 타락했다는 것이다. 복술자, 요술자, 즉 점쟁이와 무당들이 일어나기 시작했다 이말이다. 이어서 4-5절에 나온다, “그가 또 소년들을 그들의 고관으로 삼으시며 아이들이 그들을 다스리게 하시리니 백성이 서로 학대하며 각기 이웃을 잔해하며 아이가 노인에게, 비천한 자가 존귀한 자에게 교만할 것이며”. 지도자들을 다 없애버리고 나면 아이들밖에 남지 않는데 그 아이들이 정치를 하게 놔두겟다는것이다. 그 결과가 12절에 나온다, “내 백성을 학대하는 자는 아이요 다스리는 자는 여자들이라 내 백성이여 네 인도자들이 너를 유혹하여 네가 다닐 길을 어지럽히느니라.” 지도자가 다 죽고 나면 여자와 아이들 밖에 없지 않나. 그 사람들은 정치를 할지 모르는 사람들이기 때문에 나라가 엉뚱한 길로 가는것이다. 5절 말씀에 다시 보면, “백성이 서로 학대하며 각기 이웃을 잔해하며 아이가 노인에게, 비천한 자가 존귀한 자에게 교만할 것이며,” 미숙한 어린 아이들이 정권을 잡게 되니 백성들 사이에 평화가 없어지고 싸움이 생기게 되는것이다. 여기서 중요한것이 마지막에 “교만 할것이며" 인데, 하나님께서 이런 일들이 일어날것이라 예언 한것을 나타낸다. 그리고 이 말씀이 그대로 이루어진것을 볼수가있다.
2) 말씀대로 성취 Fulfillment of the Word 왕하 2 Kings 24:14
사 Isaiah 3:6-7
이것이 언제 이루어지나, 바로 BC 650 바벨론의 느부갓네살 왕이 유다를 공격하게된다. 이때 느부갓네살이 유다에 남아있던 똑똑하다는 유다의 엘리트 젊은이들을 바벨론으로 대거 끌고 가게 된다. 그때에 잡혀간 사람중에 다니엘과 세 친구들이 있었던것이다. 그것으로 끝나는것이 아니다, BC 598 년에 느부갓네살의 2차 공격이 들어간다. 왕하 24:14 보면, “그가 또 예루살렘의 모든 백성과 모든 지도자와 모든 용사 만 명과 모든 장인과 대장장이를 사로잡아 가매 비천한 자 외에는 그 땅에 남은 자가 없었더라.” 그러니까 유다에 남아있는 똑똑하고 유능한 정치 지도자들 만명을 싹 다 데려가고 기능인들까지 다 데려가 남은자들 이라고는 전부 비천한자들 밖에 없게 된것이다. 그러니까 유다에는 남아서 나라를 다스릴만한 인물이 전혀 없게 되는것이다. 그래서 6절과 같은 현상이 생긴다, “혹시 사람이 자기 아버지 집에서 자기의 형제를 붙잡고 말하기를 네게는 겉옷이 있으니 너는 우리의 통치자가 되어 이 폐허를 네 손아래에 두라 할 것이면” 번듯하게 누구 앞에 설수있는 옷한벌만 있으면 지도자가 되는것이다. 똑똑하고 리더쉽있어서 지도자가 되는것이 아니라 괜찮은 겉모습만 있으면 네가 지도자가 되라 할 정도로 수준이 낮아진것이다. 그렇다면 그 지도자는 어떤 이야기를 하나, 7절에 나온다. “그 날에 그가 소리를 높여 이르기를 나는 고치는 자가 되지 아니하겠노라 내 집에는 양식도 없고 의복도 없으니 너희는 나를 백성의 통치자로 삼지 말라 하리라”. 지도자가 되어서 문제가 생겨도 지도를 할수 있는 지혜나 능력이 전혀 없는것이다. 어떤 정책이나 능력이 전혀 없는것이다. 그렇게 나라가 심각한 혼란 속에 빠지는 것을 볼수가 있다.
2. 하나님의 유다 치유 God's healing for Judah
1) 지도자들의 문제 The problem with the leadership 사 Isaiah 3:8-9, 14-15
그렇다면 이들이 어떠한 죄를 지었기에 하나님께서 이렇게 진노 하시나 구체적으로 이야기 하는것을 볼수가 있다. 8절 말씀 보시라, “예루살렘이 멸망하였고 유다가 엎드려졌음은 그들의 언어와 행위가 여호와를 거역하여 그 영광의 눈을 범하였음이라.” 그들이 멸망당한 원인이 바로 하나님 앞에서 말과 행동을 함부로 하며 살아계신 하나님을 거역했기 때문이다. 이들 앞에는 하나님이 안 계시고 보란듯이 범죄 하며 악한짓을 하고 돌아다니는것이다. 그 내용이 14-15장에 나온다, “여호와께서 자기 백성의 장로들과 고관들을 심문하러 오시리니 포도원을 삼킨 자는 너희이며 가난한 자에게서 탈취한 물건이 너희의 집에 있도다,”. 장로들 이라고 함은 교회의 지도자를 나타내고 고관들은 정치 지도자를 말한다. 이러한 사람들에게 하나님이 포도원을 맡겼다고 이야기하신다. 포도원은 곧 교회와 이스라엘 나라를 의미한다. 이 포도원을 잘 다스려라, 나라를 잘 다스리라 하며 이들에게 맡겼는데 잘 다스리기는 커녕 포도원을 삼켜버리고 가난한 자에게서 물건을 도적질 한다는것이다. 하나님께서는 이에 진노하시며 15절에 이어 말씀 하신다, “어찌하여 너희가 내 백성을 짓밟으며 가난한 자의 얼굴에 맷돌질하느냐 주 만군의 여호와 내가 말하였느니라 하시도다”. 이들에게 백성을 잘 다스리라 했더니 오히려 그들을 짓밟고 발로 뭉개는 행위를 하는것이다. 얼굴을 맷돌질 한다는것은 얼굴을 땅에 쳐박고 피가 터지는데도 발로 막 뭉개는 모습을 말한다. 지도자로 세워놨더니 오히려 자기 백성들을 핍박하며 못살게 굴고 있는것이다. 9절에 계속해서 그들의 죄악이 계속 나온다. “그들의 안색이 불리하게 증거하며 그들의 죄를 말해주고 숨기지 못함이 소돔과 같으니 그들의 영혼에 화가 있을진저 그들이 재앙을 자취 하였도다". 이들의 죄가 극에 달해 마치 소돔성과 같아졌다라고 말하는것이다. 소돔과 같아졌다는 말은 즉, sodomized, 동성애를 하고 다녔다는것이다. 동성애를 하면서 당당하게 우리가 무슨 죄를 짓느냐 하고 다니는것이다. 지금과 참 비슷한 모습이다. 하나님께서 그것을 보며 하시는 말씀이다, “그들의 영혼에 화가 있을진저 그들이 재앙을 자취하였도다”. 백성들을 리드해야 할 지도자들이 이런 짓을 하고 다녔다는것이다.
2) 백성들의 문제 The problem with the people
사 Isaiah 3:13, 3:16-25
대하 2 Chronicles 28:3, 33:6
뿐만 아니다, 백성들 또한 말 할수 없는 죄를 지은것이다. 16절에 나온다, “여호와께서 또 말씀 하시되 시온의 딸들이 교만하여 늘인 목 정을 통하는 눈으로 다니며 아기작거려 걸으며 발로는 쟁쟁한 소리를 낸다 하시도다.” 여자들이 다니면서 목을 교만하게 바쳐들고 교만한 자세로 돌아다니는것이다. 그것이 다가 아니고, “정을 통하는 눈으로 다닌다” 하는 말은 누구 나와 즐길 상대 없나 보면서 돌아다니는 것이다. 또 “아기작거려 걸으며”, 이것은 종종걸음을 나타나는데 루터가 말하기를 엉덩이를 흔들며 다니는 모습을 표현한것이다 했다. “발로는 쟁쟁한 소리를 낸다 하시도다”, 발에 장식물을 달아 따랑따랑 소란스럽게 다니는것이다. 이런 사람들은 항상 24시간 생각하는것이 어떻게 하면 즐길까 어떻게 하면 섹스를 할까 하는것이다. 구체적인 내용이 18:23에 자세하게 나온다. 주께서 그 날에 그들이 장식한 발 목걸이와 머리 망사와 반달 장식과 귀고리와 팔목 고리와 얼굴 가리개와 화환과 발목 사슬과 띠와 향합과 호신부와 반지와 코 고리와 예복과 겉옷과 목도리와 손주머니와 손거울과 세마포 옷과 머리 수건과 너울을 제하시리니”, 한마디로 말하면 유혹을 하기 위해 온몸에 장식을 한 모습을 나타낸다. 특히 여기서 반달장식과 호신부는 일종의 부적이다. 어떻게하면 더 즐기고 행복할까 하면서 부적을 차고 다니는것이다. 어떻게 하면 섹시해 보일까 즐길까 생각 하는것이다. 하나님께서는 진노 하신다. 자세하게 기록하신 이유는 하나님께서 낱낱히 그들의 생각과 모습과 마음을 꿰뚫어 보신다는것을 나타내는것이다. 13절에 말씀 하신다. 여호와께서 변론하러 일어나시며 백성들은 심판하려고 서시도다. 아, 이건 도저히 안되겠다 하면서 심판하러 일어나신것이다. 17절에 이야기 하고 있다, “그러므로 주게서 시온의 딸들의 정수리에 딱지가 생기게 하시며 여호와께서 그들의 하체가 드러나게 하시리라". 정수리, 머리 꼭대기에 부스럼이 나게 해 머리를 깎아버리게 만들겠다 이 말이다. 너희들이 그렇게도 즐기는 육체 아주 발가벗게 하는 상황으로 만들어버리겠다 하시는것이다. 그것이 바로 24-25절에 나타난다. “그 때에 썩은 냄새가 향기를 대신하고 노끈이 띠를 대신하고 대머리가 숱한 머리털을 대신하고 굵은 베 옷이 화려한 옷을 대신하고 수치스러운 흔적이 아름다움을 대신 할것이며 너희의 장정은 칼에, 너희의 용사는 전란에 망할 것이며." 앗수르와 바벨론이 쳐들어와 완전히 국가를 멸망 시키고 모든 군인이 다 전멸하는것을 나타내는것이다. 이것이 BC 586년에 느부갓네살이 3차 공격해 일어난 사건이다. 이사야가 예언한 그대로 똑같이 성취되는 모습이다. 모든 백성들이 붙잡혀 포로로 다메섹까지 바벨론까지 붙잡혀 가고 그들의 왕은 두 눈이 뽑힌채 결박된 상태로 수천키로가 되는 바벨론까지 끌려 간것이다. 두 눈이 뽑힌채 창에 맞아 죽음을 당한다. 하나님이 얼마나 진노 하셨으면 자기가 사랑하는 이스라엘 백성들을 이렇게 심판 하시나. 사람들은 착각 하고 산다. 아 이렇게 하면 내가 돈을 더 벌고 이렇게 하면 좀더 행복할거 아닌가, 꼭 하나님을 섬겨야 하나? 예배 드리러 가면 거기서 돈 나오나, 하루라도 더 벌어야지. 거기에 생복이 있는줄 안다. 하나님을 버리고 예배를 버리는 자들이 얼마나 비참하게 되는지 그것을 모르고 지금도 그 길로 걸어가고 있다. 분명히 성경에서 말씀하시기를 역사적인 사실은 앞으로 그대로 일어날것이니 기억하라 하는것이다. 지금 시대가 점점 비슷하게 흘러가는 모습이다. 지금 법적으로 괜찮다 하면서 동성애를 인정하고 어린 학생들도 그게 뭐가 죄야 즐기면 되는거지 하며 자랑스럽게 돌아다니는것이다.
3. 예루살렘 멸망의 의미 The meaning behind the destruction of Jerusalem
1) 올바른 큰 믿음 The great correct faith 사 Isaiah 3:10
우리는 여기서 예루살렝믜 멸망의 의미를 확실하고 분명하게 잡아야겠다. 10절에 나온다, “너희는 의인에게 복이 있으리라 말하라 그들은 그들의 행위의 열매를 먹을것임이라” 라고 말하고있다. 그렇게 타락하고 모든 사람들이 악한짓에 동참할때도 거기에 응하지 않은 남은 의인이 있었다는것을 말한다. 이사야같이 그를 따르는 사람들이 있었다는 말이다. 이렇듯 올바르고 큰 믿음을 우리가 가져야겠다. 아하스와 므낫새 이 두 왕은 아주 잘못된 믿음에 빠져 유대왕국을 멸망에 이르게 한것이다. 역대하 28:3, 33:6 보면, 이 둘은 자기 아들을 우상신에게 제물로 바치기 위해 태워죽인 사람들이다. 아하스는 성전에 앗수르 신전을 세우고 하나님도 섬기고 우상도 섬기는 짓을 한것이다. 우리는 하나님 섬기고 있다, 하면서 하나님도 섬기고 다른것도 섬겼다는것이다. 하나님은 우상을 원하지 아니하고 오직 하나님만 섬기기를 원하신다. 더욱더 큰 문제는 타락한 아하스의 아버지 요담과 므낫새의 아버지인 히스기야가 자기 자식에게 복음을 정확하게 전하지 못했다는 부분에서 시작된것이다. 그들이 자기 자식들에게 정확한 복음 심었다면 이런 일들은 일어나지 않았을것이다. 아하스는 자기 할아버지 웃시야가 교만에 빠져서 하나님 앞에 범죄하고 문둥병에 걸리고 저주 받아 죽은 모습을 본 사람이다. 또 므낫새는 자기 아버지 히스기야가 기도를 통해 앗수르군 18만 5,000을 하룻밤에 송장을 만든 모습을 본 사람이다. 자기 눈으로 똑똑히 하나님이 행하신 기적과 표적을 봤음에도 불구하고 믿음이 생기지 않았다는 말이다. 정확하게 렘넌트에게 심을것은 언약을 분명히 잡아 언약, 그리스도, 복음을 각인 뿌리 체질 내리도록 교육 시켜야 된다. 절대로, 아 그래도 괜찮아 하나님은 다 아셔 이런 방종 하지 마시라. 우리는 반드시 올바른 축복을 알아야된다.
2) 올바른 축복 The correct blessings
눅 Luke 24:32
히 Hebrews 4:12
시 Psalm 119:105
올바른 축복은 바로 올바른 예배로부터 시작된다. 온전히 하나님께 영광돌리는것이 올바른 예배이다. 이 시간은 성삼위 하나님을 만나는 시간, 하나님이 약속하신 천국 열쇠와 보좌의 축복이 임하게 되는 시간이다. 하나님은 예배하는 자에게 모든 축복 주시기를 원하신다. 여기를 떠나서는 절대 복을 받을수 없는것이다. 눅24:32 보면 엠마오 가던 제자들이 예수님을 만나 복음을 듣게 되는데, 그때 한 이야기 이다. “우리에게 성경을 풀어 주실때에 우리 속에서 마음이 뜨겁지 아니하더냐” 예수님께서 말씀 전하실때 마음이 뜨거워지는 역사가 나타나는것이다. 성령의 능력이 충만하게 임하는 시간인것이다. 바로 예배 시간이 그런 시간이라는것이다. 히4:12, “하나님의 말씀은 살아있고 활력있어 좌우의 날선 어떤 검보다도 예리하여 혼과 영과 및 관절과 골수를 찔러 쪼개기까지 하며 마음과 생각과 뜻을 판단하는도다.” 말씀 듣는 이 시간에 나도 모르게 나의 영, 혼, 육이 치유를 받고 있는것이다. 그것이 잘못된것이었구나 하나님 앞에 범죄하는것 이었구나 깨닫고 씻어져 나가는것이다. 육신까지도 치유 받는 모습이다. 시119:105, “주의 말씀은 내 발의 등이요 내 길에 빛이니이다.” 이 말씀 통해 미래가 보이기 시작하는것이다. 내가 갈 올바른 길이 무엇인지 판단하게 되는것이다. 성령께서 나를 인도 하시는것이다. 이것이 올바른 축복이다.
3) 절대계획 Absolute plan 창 Genesis 15:16
그리고 우리는 절대 계획속에 들어가야 한다. 우리는 올바른 기도 드려야겠다. 우리가 너무 큰 축복을 받아서 보좌의 축복을 누리는 기도를 드리고 있다. 3,9,3 의 기도 꼭 하시기를 바란다. 이번 40일 훈련동안 큰 축복 누리시기 바란다. 요셉이 누렸던 축복 누리시기 바란다. 요셉은 다른것 하지 않았다, 보좌의 축복 누렸다. 형들과도 많은 갈등 있었지만 그 갈등이 오히려 갱신의 기회로 잡힌것이다. 보좌의 축복 속에 있으니 죽일려고 우물에 넣은것이 애굽으로 가 세계복음화 하는 길이 된것이다. 이 보좌의 축복은 언약성취의 축복속에 있는것이다. 요셉이 국무총리 되어 가족을 다 데리고 있었지만 그것이 알고보니 창세기 15:16에 “네 자손이 4대 만에 돌아오리라" 하는 말씀의 성취 였던것이다. 우리도 똑같다, 보좌의 축복 누리게 되면 하나님의 절대 계획속에 나도모르게 들어가 성취의 자리에 있게 되는것이다. 이 축복속에 들어가는 여러분 되시기를 바란다.
결론 Conclusion
창 Genesis 45:5

The Meaning behind the Destruction of Jerusalem (Isaiah 3:1-7)

“1 For behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, Takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah The stock and the store, The whole supply of bread and the whole supply of water; 2 The mighty man and the man of war, The judge and the prophet, And the diviner and the elder; 3 The captain of fifty and the honorable man, The counselor and the skillful artisan, And the expert enchanter. 4 'I will give children to be their princes, And babes shall rule over them. 5 The people will be oppressed, Every one by another and every one by his neighbor; The child will be insolent toward the elder, And the base toward the honorable.' 6 When a man takes hold of his brother In the house of his father, saying, 'You have clothing; You be our ruler, And let these ruins be under your power,' 7 In that day he will protest, saying, 'I cannot cure your ills, For in my house is neither food nor clothing; Do not make me a ruler of the people.' ”
Introduction
I have been preaching about the book of Isaiah and whenever I relay about this book, the book of Isaiah speaks about the background and history of the Bible. To understand the Bible, you have to understand the background and history. You have to understand the correct background and history so that you can receive answers. The truth about the history and background of Isaiah talks about the Kings of the book of Isaiah in Isaiah 1. It starts with King Uzziah, he was the 10th king of Judah. At first, King Uzziah served God really well and God blessed King Uzziah tremendously and the land of Judah at first. But after receiving prosperous blessings from God, the land of Judah became very prosperous and powerful. But as the nation grew more powerful, King Uzziah became arrogant. He started entering the temple of God and started giving sacrificial offerings to God that only the priests could give. King Uzziah who had great love for God, the moment he lit the incense to God at the temple, God made King Uzziah with leprosy. The moment he had leprosy, he was overthrown from his throne. In his replacement, King Uzziah’s son entered into power. Jotham who saw his father, King Uzziah in power and saw that his father got leprosy, became fearful. Jotham reigned in power in fear because of what happened to his father. After Jotham, King Ahaz went into reign of power. King Ahaz was in reign for 16 years but the start of corruption in the land of Judah started during his reign. What is absolute is that the moment they grew apart from God, darkness entered into the land of Judah. The moment they left God, darkness entered and wars started occurring within the land of Judah. The king of Israel started attacking the land of Judah, who were neighbors. At that time, wars broke out and many people died. And, the women of Judah became prisoners of war.
2 Chronicles 28:22-23 “Now in the time of his distress King Ahaz became increasingly unfaithful to the Lord. This is that King Ahaz. 23 For he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus which had defeated him, saying, 'Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them, I will sacrifice to them that they may help me.' But they were the ruin of him and of all Israel.” - Something interesting and strange happened here. It said that King Ahaz became unfaithful to God. God gave tribulations so that King Ahaz could realize but instead of realizing and discovering his mistakes and sins, King Ahaz grew more unfaithful to God. What King Ahaz thought at that time the god of Israel was too strong so he thought that if he worshiped the same god of Israel and Judah will become powerful again. So, King Ahaz started worshiping idols at that time. But that god did not help King Ahaz. So God continued to relay His messages to King Ahaz and the land of Judah at that time. The neighboring nations and Israel came together, and started attacking Judah. At that difficult time, they should've turned to God and relied on God but instead King Ahaz went to King of Assyria and pleaded with them to help him and Judah. Assyria thought this was their chance so they bought their armies and conquered the land of Israel. King Ahaz was so thankful to the King of Assyria so he went to greet the King of Assyria with gold. At that time, when King Ahaz went to greet the King of Assyria, King Ahaz saw all of the golden idols in Assyria. When King Ahaz saw all of that, King Ahaz was in awe and thought that Assyria was so powerful because they worship these golden idols. So King Ahaz commanded his people and priests to build the same idols that are in Assyria. When priests heard this command, they should’ve stopped King Ahaz but instead the priests built up the altar for these idols. So the land of Judah that was supposed to serve and reship God ended up worshiping idols.
2 Kings 16:9-11 “So the king of Assyria heeded him; for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus and took it, carried its people captive to Kir, and killed Rezin. 10 Now King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus; and King Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the design of the altar and its pattern, according to all its workmanship. 11 Then Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus. So Urijah the priest made it before King Ahaz came back from Damascus.” -
1. Judah Turns into an Idolatrous Nation
1) God takes away everything
Verses 1-5 - God was so angry with the people of Judah and the king of Judah that God relayed this message to Isaiah. In order to heal the land of Judah, God used His method of taking away all of the water and stock. The first step of God’s wrath is cutting off finances for the nation. He took away all of the food, water, and stock. When you leave God, whether it is your personal or nation, God will bring financial hardships.
Veres 2-3 - All of the leaders, the priests, prophets, and judges all became corrupt. And shamans and fortune tellers started rising up.
When this all happened, we know what God did in verses 4-5. When leaders are all gone, the children are the only ones who are left. God was going to make the younger generation leaders.
Verse 5 - When all of the leaders perish, only children remain. When the children became leaders, they didn’t know how to lead properly and they would lead the nation into destruction. The entire nation and people of the nation, there will be no peace and everyone will be fighting against each other. God was prophesying that destruction will come within the land of Judah. God does allow this to happen. When did this occur? It occurred in BC 605 when Nebuchadnezzar attacked the land of Judah. Nebuchadnezzar took all of the intellects and scholars of Judah into the land of Babylon. The people who were taken away during this time were Daniel and his three friends.
2) Fulfillment of the Word
The second attack is spoken about in 2 Kings 24:14 “Also he carried into captivity all Jerusalem: all the captains and all the mighty men of valor, ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths. None remained except the poorest people of the land.” - The intellects and scholars as well as the craftsmen and smiths were all taken away to Babylon so the only people who remained in Judah were the poor people. At that time, Judah had no people to rule over them; only children remained in the land of Judah.
Verse 6 - If anyone had clothing, they would be considered as a leader for their nation. They didn’t become leaders if they were smart but they became rulers if they just had clothing.
Verse 7 - When they became rulers, they didn’t have the wisdom and knowledge to make wise decisions for their nation. They had no power. The nation fell into great tribulation at that time. What kind of sin did Judah fall into that they experienced this great wrath of God?
2. God's Healing for Judah
1) The problem with the leadership
Isaiah 3:8-9, 14-15 “For Jerusalem stumbled, And Judah is fallen, Because their tongue and their doings Are against the Lord, To provoke the eyes of His glory. 9 The look on their countenance witnesses against them, And they declare their sin as Sodom; They do not hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have brought evil upon themselves. 14 The Lord will enter into judgment With the elders of His people And His princes: 'For you have eaten up the vineyard; The plunder of the poor is in your houses. 15 What do you mean by crushing My people And grinding the faces of the poor?' Says the Lord God of hosts.” - The reason why Judah perished was because they spoke arrogantly before God. They didn’t believe in God and didn’t see God in their lives, and lived their lives however they wanted to live. They lived in evil and sin.
Isaiah 3:14 - Elders would be considered leaders of the church and vineyard was talking about the church. God trusted the leaders to take care of the church but instead, the leaders were stealing away from the church and destroyed it. That is why God’s wrath came upon them.
Isaiah 3:15 - They should’ve been helping and taking care the people of Judah but they were stepping on them. They were grinding their faces and they would step on their faces. They raised up leaders but the leaders were acting very wickedly towards the people of Judah.
Isaiah 3:9 - Their sin was so wicked that their sins were seen as wicked as Sodom and Gomorrah. They were committing sin against God in every direction. Their level of sin was committing sins against God such as committing homosexuality before God and they were boldly committing sins against God without any shame. Right now, this is what is happening. This is what God is saying. The leaders and people, their actions were full of sin. Not only that but the people were committing sins.
2) The problem with the people
Isaiah 3:13, 3:16-25 “The Lord stands up to plead, And stands to judge the people. 16 Moreover the Lord says: 'Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, And walk with outstretched necks And wanton eyes, Walking and mincing as they go, Making a jingling with their feet, 17 Therefore the Lord will strike with a scab The crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, And the Lord will uncover their secret parts.' 18 In that day the Lord will take away the finery: The jingling anklets, the scarves, and the crescents; 19 The pendants, the bracelets, and the veils; 20 The headdresses, the leg ornaments, and the headbands; The perfume boxes, the charms, 21 and the rings; The nose jewels, 22 the festal apparel, and the mantles; The outer garments, the purses, 23 and the mirrors; The fine linen, the turbans, and the robes. 24 And so it shall be: Instead of a sweet smell there will be a stench; Instead of a sash, a rope; Instead of well-set hair, baldness; Instead of a rich robe, a girding of sackcloth; And branding instead of beauty. 25 Your men shall fall by the sword, And your mighty in the war.” - The women were going around with jewelry with their heads raised high and with arrogance. it didn’t end there but they were flirting with anyone. They were only looking for men and to commit adultery and sins with. The fact that they were jingling with their feet means that they were moving with flirtatious movements and making noises to gain the attention of men. Their entire heads and mindsets were only filled with the thoughts of pleasure and sexual acts.
Isaiah 3:20-23 - In other words, in order to tempt and seduce men, the women would do all of this. They were only filled with thoughts to give pleasures and live the life that they wanted. They were only focused with the thoughts to appear sexy. God’s wrath came upon the people of Judah. When God saw all of the wicked and sinful thoughts and hearts of Judah, God’s wrath and anger came upon them. God knows everything about us, our thoughts and hearts.
Isaiah 3:13 - God knew that He couldn’t stand still so He pours His judgment upon the land of Judah.
Isaiah 3:17 - God was saying that He was going to take everything away that bought them pleasure and joy.
Isaiah 3:24-25 - Assyria and Babylon attacked Judah, and caused complete destruction of Judah. Nebuchadnezzar brought the 3rd attack in BC 586 upon the land of Judah. At that time, the prophesied destruction of Judah ended up becoming fulfilled at that time. Everyone in Judah became prisoners of wars and the king of Judah got his eyes gouged out, tied up, and dragged all the way to the land of Babylon. His eyes were gouged out and when he arrived in Babylon, the king was executed. God was so angry that He brought this judgment and wrath to the land of Judah. People live with so much misunderstanding that they know money and think that if they make money then they will be happy. They think that if they go to worship, they will become rich. They would gather to go to work because they know that going to church will not make them money. What people don’t know is that when they forsake worship and god, you will absolutely face destruction. What is absolute is that the Bible tells us that what is prophesied in the Bible will absolutely be fulfilled. Look at the world right now. We are also walking in the same path of Judah. People think that everything Is okay so people are committing sin of homosexuality with no shame before God. People are proudly committing acts of homosexuality with no shame. But here, we need to know the meaning behind the destruction of Jerusalem.
3. The Meaning Behind the Destruction of Jerusalem
1) The great correct faith
Isaiah 3:10 “Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them, For they shall eat the fruit of their doings.” - There were righteous even among the sinners. There were righteous people of God like Isaiah during that time. This means that we must have the correct faith at this time. King Uzziah and King Ahaz failed because they had the incorrect faith.
2 Chronicles 28:3, 33:6 “He burned incense in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, and burned his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel. 33:6 Also he caused his sons to pass through the fire in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom; he practiced soothsaying, used witchcraft and sorcery, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger.” - The kings sacrificed their children to false idols. They built the altars for gods of Assyria as well as built an altar to God. When they built these altars for these false gods, they sacrificed their sons. They thought it wasn’t wrong to worship both God and false idols. But what God wanted was their entire heart and devotion to Him alone.
Problem arose when King Hezekiah failed to relay the correct gospel to his children. If he relayed the correct gospel, destruction and God’s wrath would’ve not come upon the land of Judah. The kings of Judah became arrogant and the children of the kings of Judah saw exactly what happened to their fathers because of their sin but the children did not learn from them. What we must relay to our remnants is correct faith and relay the correct gospel to them so the gospel can be imprinted, rooted, and part of their nature. You think that it is okay to do whatever you want and God will forgive you but if you think this way, this is not okay at all and destruction will come upon you. You must realize the correct blessings. Correct blessings start from correct worship. What is correct worship, it is giving all glory and worship to God alone. Right now we are worshiping God and meeting the Triune God. Right now the keys of heaven and earth, and the throne of God is upon us. Right now, God wants to bestow all of His blessings to us. There is no other way to live except through worship alone.
2) The correct blessings
Luke 24:32 “And they said to one another, 'Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?' ” - When Jesus spoke, the heart of the disciples grew hot and on fire. The power of the Holy Spirit was coming upon them. They were experiencing that power. That power is upon us right now.
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” - Right now, when we listen to worship and God’s word, our hearts, minds, and thoughts are getting healed. you are also feeling your body being revived.
Psalm 119:105 “Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” - Through God’s word, you can see the future. You can make the correct discernments through the word. You can have the correct guidance in life through the word of God. This is the correct and upright life that we must live. We must enter into the absolute plan. We must pray correctly to enter into God’s absolute plan.
3) Absolute plan
We must receive the blessing of the heavenly throne. Pray with 3, 9, 3. We must restore all blessings through the 40 day challenge. The blessings that Joseph received we must receive as well. All Joseph did was enjoy the blessing of the heavenly throne. All he did was enjoy this blessing of the heavenly throne so whatever problem or crisis he faced, it was not a problem for him at all. There were conflicts with people around him but none of that became a problem for him at all. Even though he was sold into slavery, none of that posed as a problem before him. Entering the blessing of the heavenly throne means to enter into the blessing of God’s absolute plan.
Genesis 15:16 “But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.” - The blessing that Joseph received was saving his entire family. When you enter into the blessing of the heavenly throne, you are entering into God’s absolute plan.
Conclusion
Hold onto Genesis 45:5 “But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.” - This is what Joseph said. Nothing was a problem for Joseph because Joseph realized that everything was part of God’s absolute plan.
