서론
이어령 이라는 교수님에 대해 잠깐 이야기 한적이 있다. 그 분의 딸은 이민아 라는 변호사 이다. 이 분은 아주 유명한 엘리트인데 이 분이 자식을 낳았는데 둘째가 자폐아였다. 이로 인해 마음고생을 하고 어렵게 살았다고 한다. 자폐 증상이 있는 아이를 받아주는 학교가 많지 않아 초등학교만 다섯 군데를 옮겨 다니며 지냈다고 한다. 그런데 지내기가 너무 힘들어서 자기 아들이지만 간혹 미운 생각이 들었다고 한다. 그런 가운데 그가 하나님의 은혜를 받는 계기가 생겼다. 그는 하나님께 제일 먼저 기도 하기 시작했다. 아들을 미워하는 마음이 계속 들고 짜증이 나니 그마음을 놓고 먼저 기도 했다고 한다. 하나님, 제 아들을 진심으로 사랑할수 있는 마음을 주옵소서 기도했다. 그런데 기적이 일어났다. 한번에 알약을 아홉개를 먹어야 겨우 유지가 되는 아들이 기도를 통해 자폐 증상이 눈녹듯 사라지기 시작했다. 인간에게 상상할수 없는 치유가 일어나는 것을 보고 하나님이 살아계시구나 체험 했다고 한다. 저는 그 이야기를 듣고 참 기도의 힘이 대단하구나 느꼈다. 그리스도 밖에 없다. 우리 하나님은 살아계신 하나님 이시기에 그러하다. 우리의 기도를 다 듣고 계시고 지금 이시간에도 우리의 마음까지 다 보고 계신 하나님이 우리 아버지 되신다. 하나님은 은혜의 하나님 이시다.
1. 하나님의 은혜 God's grace
(1) 놀라운 구원의 축복 The amazing blessing of salvation

오늘 하나님이 놀라운 사랑을 베푸시는 내용이 3절에 나온다, “여호와께 연합한 이방인은 말하기를 여호와께서 나를 그의 백성 중에서 반드시 갈라내시리라 하지 말며 고자도 말하기를 나는 마른 나무라 하지 말라”. 오늘 말씀 보면, 이방인이 나오고 고자가 나온다. 왜 이렇게 나오나? 이방인은 당시에 이스라엘 백성들에게 인간이 아닌 존재로 비추어졌다. 지금 중동에서 전쟁이 일어나고 있는데 지금도 당시의 사고방식과 비슷한 사고방식을 가지고 있는것으로 보여진다. 사도행전 21:28 말씀 보면 사도바울이 성전에 있는 그 모습을 유대인들이 보고 헬라인을 데리고 성전에 가서 예배 드리는것은 성전을 더럽히는 행위다 하며 사도바울을 잡아 넣는 일이 벌어진다. 거룩한 성전에 더러운 이방인을 데리고 오다니, 나쁜놈 이라 하며 잡아서 돌로 쳐서 죽이려고 한것이다. 온 성전이 시끄럽고 요란하니 천부장이 와서 그를 살려주는 내용이 나온다. 그 정도로 당시 유대인들은 이방인들을 싫어하고 인간 이하의 대접을 했다. 여기에 또 고자 가 나온다. 고자는 자식을 낳을수 없는 사람들이다. 신명기 23:1 보면 “고환이 상한 자나 음경이 잘린 자는 여호와의 총회에 들어오지 못하리라.” 이라고 되어있다. 총회에 들어오지 못하는 의미는 예배에 참여 하지 못한다는 말이다. 본문에 보면, “나는 마른 나무라 하지 말라” 라고 한다. 마른 나무는 죽은 자 라는 의미를 가지고 있다. 그런데 지금 그들에게 하나님께서 말씀 하시는 것 이다. 놀랍게도 그들에게 축복 주시면서 너희들은 해방 되었다 선포 하시는것이 오늘 말씀이다. 우리 하나님은 바로 그러한 하나님 되신다. 인간 대접도 못받는 사람들과 죄인들을 찾아가 살 길을 열어주신 분이 하나님 되신다. 그런데 조건이 있다. 그 조건인 즉슨, “여호와께 연합한 이방인” 이라는 것이다. 그러니까 여호와꼐 연합한 이방인 이나 고자 들은 축복을 받을수 있다 이 말이다. 연합 한다는 말은 무슨 말인가. 하나님께서 그들을 부르셨을때 그들을 믿고 따라간 사람을을 나타낸다. 여기서 놀라운 비밀을 우리가 발견 할수가 있다. 하나님 께서는 그들에게 특별히 은혜를 베푸시고 구원의 길을 열어 주시는데 그 조건이 복음을 전하였을때 이에 따라오는 자들, 저번주 말씀에 이야기 했듯 제한된 집중이다. 모든 이방인과 모든 고자들이 다 들어 올수 있는것이 아니다. 복음을 증거 했을때 따라오는 사람들, 그 자들은 살 수 있다는 말이다. 따라 오는 사람은 예배를 참여 할수 없던, 전에 인간같이 보이지 않던 사람들 이라 해도 해방을 받는다는 것을 나타낸다. 바로 우리 조상들, 우리와 같은 사람들을 나타낸다. 주님 앞에 나오기만 하면 죄와 사망에 법에서 완전히 해방이 되는것이다. 죄와 사방에서 해방이 되는것은 무엇인가? 로마서 8:1-2, 그리스도 안에 있는 자 에게는 결코 정죄함이 없다 이 말이다. 다시 말해 예수 그리스도가 오시게 되면 이러한 일들이 있게 될것이다 이 말이다. 너희들이 고통 받고 있느냐. 그리스도 영접 하면 모든 문제 해결 될 것이다 이사야는 예언 하고 있는 것이다.
(2) 교회에 주신 축복 Blessings from the church
사 Isaiah 56:4-5
행 Acts 2:4
예수님께서 오시면 어떤 축복을 받게 되는가 하는 내용이 4절 부터 나온다, “여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시기를 나의 안식일을 지키며 내가 기뻐하는 일을 선택하며 나의 언약을 굳게 잡는 고자들에게는”. 돌아오는 사람들 에게만 제한 되어 있는데, 나의 안식일을 지키며 내가 기뻐하는 일을 선택한 자 라고도 나와있다. 이 내용에 대해 칼빈은, 내가 좋아하는 것을 선택 하는 것이 아닌 하나님이 선포 하신 내용을 선택하는 자들 이라 설명 하고있다. 그러니까 선택된 내용에 집중 하는 자는 축복 받게 될것이다 하는 말이다. 그렇다면 선택된 내용이 뭔가. 안식일을 지키며 내가 기뻐하는 일을 선택한 자 라는 말이다. 나의 안식일을 지킨다는 말이 뭔가. 예배에 집중 하는 자 이다. 두번째는 나의 언약을 굳게 잡는 자 이다. 그 누구도 어떤 문제 있는 자라도 구원 받을수 있는데 그것에 조건이 예배에 집중하고 마음과 생명과 뜻을 다해 예배 드리는 자 이고 두번째는 언약을 굳게 잡는 자 이다. 언약을 굳게 잡는데 이 언약이 대체 뭔가. 교회에 주시는 하나님의 언약임을 나타낸다. 바로 그리스도, 하나님 나라, 성령 충만을 말한다. 이것이 바로 언약을 잡는 것 이다. 모든 축복의 핵심이 그리스도, 하나님 나라, 성령충만 임을 붙잡아야 한다. 우리 예배와 그리스도, 하나님 나라, 성령충만 받게 되면 나오는 축복이 뭔지 5절에 나온다, “내가 내 집에서, 내 성 안에서 아들이나 딸보다 나은 기념물과 이름을 그들에게 주며 영원한 이름을 주어 끊어지지 아니하게 할 것이며”. 지금 이 고자들에게 하는 이야기 이다. 고자들은 예배 드리러 성 안에 들어갈수 있는 존재들이 아니다. 그런데 그들에게 “내가 내 집에서, 내 성 안에서” 라고 말씀 하고 계신것이다. 참 놀라운 축복이다. 그들이 이제 하나님의 성 안에 들어갈수 있다는 사실 만으로도 기적 같은 축복을 받은 것이다. 더 놀라운 것은, “아들이나 딸보다 나은 기념물과 이름을 그들에게 주며 영원한 이름을 주어 끊어지지 아니하게 할 것이며” 이 부분이다. 우리가 예배 드리고 언약 잡게 되면 하나님께서 놀라운 축복 주시는데, 성 안에 들어가 아들이나 딸 보다 더 나은 기념물과 이름을 주겠다 하시는 말씀이다. 여기서 말하는 집은 예수님이 오신 뒤 이루어질 교회를 나타낸다. 교회 들어와 우리가 예배를 드리고 하나님 나라, 성령충만, 그리스도 붙잡게 되면 하나님께서 너희에게 성령의 선물을 줄것 이라는 말을 나타낸다. 이건 구약 시대의 사람들은 받지도 못했던 것이다. 그리고 새 이름을 주겠다 하셨다. 그 이름이 바로 신약에 처음 나타나는 성도, 제자 라는 이름이다. 이스라엘 백성들 에게는 야곱의 아들, 이스라엘의 아들 이라 하셨지만 우리는 거룩한 백성, “성도” 가 되는것이다. 주님 앞에 쓰임 받는 제자가 되는 것이다. 구약 시대에는 상상도 할 수 없던 일이 일어난 것이다. 이 일이 실제적으로 이 땅에 일어난 것이다. 그것이 바로 사도행전 2:4에 나온다, “저희가다 성령의 충만함을 받고 성령이 말하게 하심을 따라 다른 방언으로 말하기를 시작하니라.” 교회에 내려진 축복 이다. 교회의 모든 성도들이 받은 축복을 이야기 하는 것이다. 각 나라에 하늘 보좌의 능력의 역사가 각 사람에게 임한 것이다. 5절에 마지막 보면, “영원한 이름을 주어 끊어지지 아니하게 할 것이며" 했다. 이것은 지금 고자들에게 주시는 말씀이다. 이들이 그리스도로 인해 새피조물이 되어 성도, 제자가 되는 축복을 받았다. 이름이 영원히 끊어지지 않을 것이다 하는 말이다. 성도의 축복, 영원히 끊어지지 않는 영적 자손으로 축복 하실것 이라는 말이다. 영적 자손 이라는 의미는 하늘 천국에서의 자손을 의미한다. 천국 에서는 아마 육적 자손은 그닥 따지지 않을 것이다. 영적 자손이 참 기쁨의 자손이다. 하늘에서는 그것을 쳐다보고 기뻐 하지 육적 자손은 큰 의미 없을 것이다. 내 육적 자손은 이 땅에서 같이 살았지만 천국에서 못 보게 될수도있다. 그러나 영적 자손은 천국에서 영원히 끊어지지 아니하고 함께 사는 것이다. 이분이 제 영적 아버지 혹은 어머니 이십니다 하며 그 자손이 하나님 앞에 여러분을 소개 하게 될수도 있다. 이 모든것이 여러분이 예배와 언약을 잡는 데서 시작 되는 것이다.
2. 그리스도의 몸된 교회 The Church is the body of Christ
(1) 만민이 왕께 예배 All people shall worship the King

요 John 4:23
6절 말씀 보겠다, “또 여호와와 연합하여 그를 섬기며 여호와의 이름을 사랑하며 그의 종이 되며 안식일을 지켜 더럽히지 아니하며 나의 언약을 굳게 지키는 이방인마다”. 이것은 이방인에 대해 자세히 다시 설명 하는 부분이다. 여기서 처음 나오는 말씀이, “여호와와 연합하여” 이다. 연합이라는 단어를 히브리어로 “라와” 라고 하는데 이 말의 어원은 “레위"의 어원과 같다. 레위 지파는 성전에서 직무를 행하는 축복을 가지고 있다는 의미를 가지고 있다. 즉 여호와와 연합하여 그를 섬긴다는 말은 이방인들이 교회 안에서 레위 지파 처럼 직무를 행할수 있는 축복을 받게 된다는 것을 나타낸다. 그래서 이방인들이 여호와의 이름을 사랑하며 그의 종이 된다고 한다. 그 이름을 사랑한다는 말은 교회 안에서 서로 성령 안에서 교제하며 사랑하는것을 나타낸다. 이것으로 하나님꼐 영광 돌리는 것이다. 그의 종이 된다고 했다. 이방인이 교회에서 직책을 감당하게 되는 것이다. 하나님과 전혀 관계 없던 사람이 장로님, 안수집사님, 교사, 선생님, 이런 직책을 받게 되는 것이다. 그 모든 직책의 포커스가 안식일을 지켜 더럽히지 아니하며 나의 언약을 굳게 지키는 자들 이라고 되어있다. 교회에서 한 몸으로 서로 사랑하며 교제하며 하나님이 내게 준 직책을 충성 스럽게 감당 하는 사람을 말한다. 그리고 예배 드리면서 그리스도와 하나님 나라, 성령충만을 위해 모든 포커스 맞추어 가고 헌신 하게 되면 하나님께서 축복 주신다는 것을 말한다. 우리가 분명히 잡을 것은 이스라엘 백성들에게 하는 이야기가 아닌 이방인에게 하는 말씀인 사실이다. 그래서 요한복음 4:24 말씀을 우리가 올바르게 해석 해야한다, “아버지께 참으로 예배하는 자들은 신령과 진정으로 예배할 때가 오나니 곧 이때라 아버지께서는 이렇게 자기에게 예배하는 자들을 찾으시느니라.” 하나님 께서 예배 시간에 찾으시는 분은 유대인이 이나 특정한 사람들이 아닌 이방인이든 누구이든 영과 진리로 예배 하는 자들 이라는 말이다. 지금 우리도 그런 축복 속에 있다는 것을 나타낸다. 이스라엘 백성이 될 필요가 없다. 정말 하나님의 자녀 된 축복을 이방인도 똑같이 누리고 있다는 말이다.
(2) 만민이 제사장의 축복 All people shall receive the blessing of priesthood

그렇다면 그 사람들이 그렇게 예배를 드릴때 어떠한 축복을 주시는가 7절에 나온다, “내가 곧 그들을 나의 성산으로 인도하여 기도하는 내 집에서 그들을 기쁘게 할 것이며 그들의 번제와 희생을 나의 제단에서 기꺼이 받게 되리니 이는 내 집은 만민이 기도하는 집이라 일컬음이 될 것임이라". 여기서 나의 성산 이라고 하시고 또 내 집이라 계속 이야기 하신다. 계속 이사야가 무슨 말을 하나. 앞으로 이 땅에 임할, 우리가 예배 드리는 교회를 계속 강조 하는 것이다. 이 교회가 어떻게 생기게 되었나. 예수님께서 우리를 대속해서 죽으시고 부활하심으로 일어나게 된 “몸된 교회" 이다. 이 교회는 주님의 피와 살이 흐르는 곳 이다. 그래서 오늘 성산으로 인도하여 기도하는 내 집에서 그 들을 기쁘게 할 것이며 라고 이야기 하고있다. 이 교회에서 우리가 마음껏 기쁨을 누릴수 있는 축복을 예배 하신것을 말한다. “ 내 집에서 그들을 기쁘게 할 것이며 그들의 번제와 희생을 나의 제단에서 기꺼이 받게 되리니”, 이 모든것을 교회 라는 것을 통해 하나님께서 받으신다는 말이다. 교회를 통해 우리가 항상 붙잡을 것은 예수가 그리스도 되시는 사실이다. 주님의 피가 흐르는 교회에서 예수님께서 우리의 모든 문제 해결하신 그리스도 라는 사실을 붙잡는 것 이다. 우리가 세상을 살다가 죄를 지을수도 있다. 신앙생활 하며 내가 이런 잘못 했다 하며 교회에 찾아 올수도 있다. 옛날에는 죄를 지으면 제사장에게 찾아갔는데 이제는 그럴 필요가 없다. 주님 앞에 직접 회개 하는 것이다. 이 몸은, 이 교회는 주님의 몸이다. 모든 문제 해결하신 주님의 몸 이다. 옛날에 제사장 앞에 죄를 고했듯이 주님 앞에 무릎 꿇고 주여 우리의 부족함을 용서해 주옵소서 회개 하게 되면 주님께서 친히 용서 하신다. 여기서 붙잡을 것은 옛날에 제사장들이 했던 일을 이미 우리에게 직분으로 주셨다는 사실이다. 그래서 루터는 “만인 제사장"에 대해 이야기 한것이다. 마태복음 21:13, “그들에게 이르시되 기록된 바 내 집은 기도하는 집이라 일컬음을 받으리라 하였거늘 너희는 강도의 소굴을 만드는도다 하시니라.” 예수님께서 성전에 가셔서 사람들이 이방인의 기도하는 장소에서 장사를 하고 나쁜 짓을 하는 것을 보니 너무나 화가 나셔서 채찍을 휘두르며 하신 말씀이다. 너무 화가나셔서 너희가 성전을 강도의 소굴로 만들었구나 하셨다. 이것이 예수님께서 예루살렘 성전을 심판하신 내용이다. 예배의 의미도 모르고 기도도 하지 못하게 막는 성전을 부수어 버리신 것이다. 이사야는 이야기 했다, “내 집은 만민이 기도하는 집이라 일컬음이 될 것임이라”, 바로 교회를 말하는 것이다. 유대인이든 이방인이든 누구든지 와서 기도 하면 응답 받는 곳이 교회이다 하는 말이다. 우리는 힘이 연약하고 부족 하지만 기도하면 하나님이 성령을 통해 힘 주시고 능력 주신다. 서론에 말씀 드린 이어령 교수의 딸 처럼 기도를 통해 치유 받는 역사가 이루어 진다는 말이다. 여기서 기도하는 집 이라는 의미는, 불가능이 없이 어떤 문제도 해결 할수 있는 곳, 그러한 곳이 교회이다 라는 의미이다. 바로 응답 주시는 분이 하나님 이시기에 가능하다. 이 축복 진정으로 누리시는 여러분 되시기를 바란다.
3. 세상을 살리는 망대 The bartizan that saves the world
(1) 만민이 선지자 축복 All people shall receive the blessing of the prophet

딤후 2 Timothy 2:1-2
8절, “이스라엘의 쫓겨난 자를 모으시는 주 여호와가 말하노니 내가 이미 모은 백성 외에 또 모아 그에게 속하게 하리라 하셨느니라.” 바벨론 포로에서 다시 이스라엘 땅으로 돌아가는 사람들이 있었다. 많은 사람들이 바벨론에서 생활하며 정착 하고 일부만 돌아왔다. 돌아온 사람들이 약 5만 5천명 되는것으로 추정한다. 그런데 말씀 보니, “이미 모은 백성 외에 또 모아" 수 많은 이방인들이 교회로 오게 될것임을 나타낸다. 온세계 사람들이 구원을 받아 주님의 몸된 교회로 몰려들게 될 것임을 나타내는 말이다. 신약 시대때는 하나님이 완전히 이방인 선교에 방향 잡으시는것을 볼수 있다. 사도행전 9:15에 하나님께서 사도바울을 부르는 모습이 나온다, “주께서 이르시되 가라 이 사람은 내 이름을 이방인과 임금들과 이스라엘 자손들에게 전하기 위하여 택한 나의 그릇이라.” 이것은 사실 놀라운 사건이다. 구약시대에는 말씀을 전하기 위해 선지자를 사용하셨다. 그러나 이제는 선지자를 부르지 아니하신다. 누구를 부르나. 전도자를 부르신다. 전도자를 택하시는데 세상을 구하시기 위해 전도자를 택하시는 것을 볼수가 있다. 그러면 전도자의 축복은 사도들만 받는게 아닙니까 이야기 할 수도 있다. 딤후 2:1-2 보면 그것은 사실이 아님을 알수있다, “내 아들아 그러므로 너는 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 은혜 가운데서 강하고. 2 또 네가 많은 증인 앞에서 내게 들은 바를 충성된 사람들에게 부탁하라 그들이 또 다른 사람들을 가르칠 수 있으리라.” 디모데가 사도바울로 부터 말씀을 받았다. 말씀을 받은 디모데가 전도자가 되어 또 다른 전도자를 세운 것이다. 세상 끝날까지 만민에 전도자를 세우시는것을 볼수있다. 여러분, 우리가 다 전도자 이다. 우리가 선지자들이 받은 축복을 받은 줄 믿는다. 하나님께서 우리에게 원하시는것은 당신을 만나기 전에 영적 후손을 많이 만드는 것 일것이다. 그래서 우리가 지금 기도 하는 것이다. 남은 자를 찾아 다니고 렘넌트를 세우고 TCK 를 발견 하는 것이다.
(2) 예배는 보좌를 향하는 징검다리 Worship is the stepping stones that lead to the Throne

마지막으로 예배는 보좌를 향하는 징검다리 라는 것을 우리가 붙잡아야 한다. 예배를 통해 우리가 확실하게 다시한번 붙잡기를 바란다. 마 6:33, “너희는 먼저 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라 그리하면 이 모든것을 너희에게 더하여 주시리라”. 분명한것은 예배를 통해 하나님 나라와 그의 일이 지금도 이루어 지고 있다는 사실이다. 이 보좌의 축복을 누리는 징검다리를 가진것이다. 마태복음 12:28-29, “그러나 내가 하나님의 성령을 힘입어 귀신을 쫓아내는 것이면 하나님의 나라가 이미 너희에게 임하였느니라” 예배룰 통해 하늘로 부터 내려오는 구원과 치유의 놀라운 역사가 임하는 것이다. 오늘 말씀통해 치유의 역사가 일어나길 소망한다. 요한삼서 1:2, “사랑하는 자여 네 영혼이 잘됨 같이 네가 범사에 잘되고 강건하기를 내가 간구하노라.” 예배를 통해 이 세가지 축복의 응답을 누리시는 여러분 되시기를 바란다. 그래서 우리가 5력: 영력, 지력, 체력, 경제럭, 인력이 회복되는 축복의 역사가 오늘 이 시간부터 나타나게 되기를 소원한다.
결론 Conclusion
히 Hebrews 11:40
말씀 맺겠다, 히 11:40, “이는 하나님이 우리를 위하여 더 좋은 것을 예비하셨은즉 우리가 아니면 그들로 온전함을 이루지 못하게 하려 하심이라.” 구약 시대에 이스라엘 백성들은 세계복음화 하지 못했다. 그들로 예수님이 이 땅에 오시게 한 일은 큰 일이 맞다. 예수님 오시고 나서 세계복음화는 우리, 전도자 통해 이루실것임을 말하는 내용이다. 우리 직분을 통해 구약시대에 받지 못한 축복이 나타나게 될 줄을 믿는다. 이번 한주간도 큰 응답 받는 여러분 되기를 축원한다.

“3 Do not let the son of the foreigner Who has joined himself to the Lord Speak, saying, 'The Lord has utterly separated me from His people'; Nor let the eunuch say, 'Here I am, a dry tree.' 4 For thus says the Lord: 'To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths, And choose what pleases Me, And hold fast My covenant, 5 Even to them I will give in My house And within My walls a place and a name Better than that of sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name That shall not be cut off.' 6 'Also the sons of the foreigner Who join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him, And to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants-- Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath, And holds fast My covenant-- 7 Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices Will be accepted on My altar; For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.' 8 The Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says, 'Yet I will gather to him Others besides those who are gathered to him.' ”
Introduction
I spoke to you about a professor, Lee Oh-Ryeong and he has a daughter who is an attorney. They are from an elite family but his second son is disabled and has autism. Due to their son, they faced many difficulties and heart wrenching situations. There were not many schools that accepted autistic children so they moved schools five times. Since their son was having a hard time, the father was struggling with many difficult thoughts towards his son. But God’s grace came upon this professor and he started praying to God for the first time. He had many challenging and frustrating thoughts for his son so he prayed to God to have great love for his son. But a miracle arose. The son had to take five medications to function in his life but after the father started praying, his autistic characteristics and symptoms started disappearing. The professor thought that he was experiencing miracles within his life. When I read this story, I realized how powerful prayer is. Our God is our God is one who knows and listens to all of our thoughts and heart. God is a God of grace. We can see God’s love within our Biblical Scripture.
1. God's Grace
(1) The amazing blessing of salvation
Verse 3 - When you look at our scriptures today, it speaks about eunuchs and gentiles. These individuals are seen as foreigners.
Acts 21:28 “Crying out, 'Men of Israel, help! This is the man who teaches all men everywhere against the people, the law, and this place; and furthermore he also brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.' ” - When Paul looked at the synagogue, the Jews would see Paul inviting Gentiles inside the synagogues so they called him to make the temples dirty. It caused so much problems and chaos that they had to call religious leaders and soldiers to break down the tensions. This was much hate and discrimination that Gentiles got. It also speaks about eunuchs here, eunuchs are not able to bear children.
Deuteronomy 23:1 “He who is emasculated by crushing or mutilation shall not enter the assembly of the Lord.” - Eunuchs were classified as people who are not able to enter into the assembly of the Lord. They were not allowed to participate in worship services. They were seen as dry trees, they were seen as dead. But we can see God speaking to the eunuchs and the Gentiles. God said that they were free. This is the type of God He is. No matter who you are, even if you are seen as nothing to people, God opens the door to you and invites you to Him. But there is a condition. That condition is that you have to join with the Lord. To be joined by the Lord means that when God calls you, you follow God. There is something astounding here. We can see that God gave His grace to them and gave them special grace and attention. This was limited concentration. This means that not all Gentiles and Eunuchs could join Him. When God shares the gospel to them, those who believe and follow Him can join Him. Those who follow Him, they are able to participate in worship once again and be freed. This was speaking about us, we who were considered non-chosen people, the non-Jews. Those who follow God, you will be freed from the laws of sin and death. This means that we are inside of Jesus Christ. We become freed. We become liberated from all of our problems. When Jesus Christ comes, what kind of blessings end up coming to us and the people of God?
(2) Blessings from the church
Verses 4-5 - John Calvin said that he was not proclaiming what he likes but he was proclaiming what the Lord God spoke to him. He was speaking of God’s covenant. When you enter into selective concentration, then you are able to enter into God’s covenant. This means that we are selecting to focus on what pleases God and keep the Sabbath. This means that we are focusing on worship. Also to hold fast to God’s covenant. This means that the church gives the covenant of God to the people. This means Acts 1:1, 3, and 8. This is Jesus Christ, kingdom of God, and the Holy Spirit. It means to hold onto this. This is the core covenant that we need to hold onto.
The mystery to receiving the blessing of the covenant of Jesus Christ, the kingdom of God, and Holy Spirit is written in verse 5 - This was what the eunuchs said. The eunuchs were not able to enter temples or give worship to God inside of temples. But God gave them great blessings. God invited them into His temple, His house. This was an astounding blessing that they received, they were able to enter into the temple of God. This was a great miracle. Another astounding thing was that God promised to give names to their children. They are able to enter into the temple of God and give worship, and are able to receive names and have a memorial. This means that after Jesus Christ comes, this is the church that Jesus will form. When we enter into church and give worship, and hold onto Christ, the kingdom of God, and the Holy Spirit, God promises us the power of the Holy Spirit. This was something that the Old Testament did not receive. This was a new thing and a new name that they received. The new names means that they received the names called, “Disciples, saints.” They were called the chosen people of God. They became disciples. This was something that people in the Old Testament couldn’t even imagine.
This realistically took place as seen in Acts 2:4 “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” - This is the blessing of a church. This is the blessing that a church congregation received. They also possessed the power of the heavenly throne. This was the message that was given to the eunuchs as seen in verse 5. They were able to become new beings and new creations inside of Christ. It said that their names would be everlasting and would not be cut off. The blessing of future generations was given to them. Spiritual descendants and prosperity is speaking about the prosperity that heaven speaks about. The heaven that prosperity speaks about is different. Being a spiritual descendant is not talking about actual physical descendants. We are not talking about your physical children but being spiritual descendants means that your spiritual lineage will never be cut off. You can call someone your spiritual mother, father, and children. This starts when you restore and have worship and God’s covenant within your life.
2. The Church is the Body of Christ
(1) All people shall worship the King
Verse 6 - God was speaking to the eunuchs once again. It speaks about how the foreigners will be joined with the Lord. When you look at the Hebrew term for “join” it has the same meaning for “Levites.” This means that Levites were people of God who were able to participate in worship services and perform works inside the temple for God. This means that the foreigners received the blessing to participate in worship and participate in duties in the temples of God just like the Levites. They will love the name of the Lord means that they are able to love one another in the church. This means that the foreigners will receive acknowledgment within the temple of God. These people who were considered nothing before the Jews, are now able to receive titles and roles such as elders, deacons, and senior deaconess within the church. The condition was that they kept fast of God’s covenant and kept the Sabbath. Within our church, we need to love others and love each other. We also need to keep our roles and duties within our church. If we also focus on our devotion within the church, then God will bless you tremendously. We must hold onto this. This was not what God was saying to the Jews but God was speaking to the foreigners.
We must interpret and understand John 4:23 “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” - God is seeking worshipers. God is not searching for special people or the jews but God is searching for His worshipers. He is searching for them so that He can bless them. We are in the midst of this blessing. God doesn’t care if you are a Jew or not. God is searching earnestly for His worshipers. Then, what kind of blessing will come upon the worshipers?
(2) All people shall receive the blessing of priesthood
Verse 7 - The blessing is seen here. God speaks about His house and holy mountain. Isaiah was speaking about the church, the church where we give worship to God. What does a church look like? Jesus died for us and resurrected, and His body became a church for us. A church is made of Jesus’ blood and flesh. God said that He will give us great joy within the church. A church is a place where God blesses us with joy within the church. What is that joy? Our burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted. God accepts our sacrifices and offerings within the church. Through the church, what we must hold onto is that Jesus is the Christ. A church that bleeds the blood of Jesus Christ, we are holding onto and enjoying that Jesus died on the cross for us. We may sin as we live on this earth and we may be lacking within our walk of faith. We may make a mistake within the church. In the Old Testament, you had to bring a blood sacrifice before the priest when you committed a sin. Now, we don’t need to do that any more. We just need to come before Jesus. This is because the church is the body of Christ who finished everything for us on the cross. We just need to come before Jesus and ask for forgiveness. If we do this, then Jesus will forgive us. We must hold onto the role of priest in the Old Testament is that role of priest has been granted to us. This was what Luther pointed out too.
Matthew 21:13 “And He said to them, 'It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ' ” - Jesus saw how His house, the temple was made into a den of thieves and He got so angry. This means that Jesus was judging the church of Jerusalem. They didn’t know the meaning of worship and didn’t have any kind of prayer so Jesus destroyed that temple. Isaiah wrote that the church of God will become a house of prayer for all nations. Whether you are a Gentile or a foreigner, you are able to come to the church of God and pray. Whether you may be lacing or weak, you are able to pray to God and God will answer you. You will receive answers of healing and power through prayer just like how the professor prayed for his autistic son in the introduction. This means that anything is possible when you pray and when you enter church. This is because the one who answers our prayers is God. May you receive this answer.
3. The Bartizan That Saves the World
(1) All people shall receive the blessing of the prophet
Verse 8 - This means that when Israel was captivated by Babylon, they became freed and returned back to Israel. But there were some Israelites who had already set up their living in Babylon so they remained there so only a few returned back to Israel. Only 55,000 Israelites returned back to Israel. But numerous Gentiles were able to come into the church. This means that people from all around the world will receive the gospel and will be able to enter the church. We can see the focus for world evangelism.
Acts 9:15 “But the Lord said to him, 'Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.” - We can see God calling Paul. This was an astounding event. In the Old Testament, in order to relay the gospel, they used prophets. But now, God did not call Prophets in the New Testament. Who did God call? He called forth evangelists. He called and chose evangelists so that they could world evangelism. Then, only do apostles receive the blessing of an evangelist?
We can see that this is not it in 2 Timothy 2:1-2 “You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” - Timothy received this message from Paul. Paul appointed Timothy as an evangelist so that he can raise up other evangelists as well. Good wants to raise up evangelists all around the world. We are evangelists. We have received the blessing of an evangelist, the blessing of a prophet. We need to make and raise up many future spiritual generations. We need to raise and seek out the remaining ones, the disciples, the evangelists, the TCKs, and our future spiritual descendants. Through worship, we need to hold onto the covenant.
(2) Worship is the stepping stones that lead to the Throne
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” - What is absolute is that through worship, God’s kingdom and God’s will are established. We are able to enjoy the power of the heavenly throne through worship.
Matthew 12:28-29 “But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. 29 Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.” - Through worship, we are able to enjoy and experience the power of life movement and healing. May we experience the power of healing through the word of God.
3 John 1:2 “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” - Through worship, may we receive the blessing of the new year. May we restore the five powers through worship.
Conclusion
Hebrews 11:40 “God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.” - The Old Testament couldn’t do world evangelism. They did important things before the coming of Christ but God will finish world evangelism through us. Through our roles and titles, God will grant us the blessing of the Old Testament. May we receive great blessings.
