성소에 나타난 성령의 사역(히9:8-10)
서론
이번주간에 제가 미장원에 가서 머리를 깎았다. 저는 원래 이발소에가서 머리를 깎는데 이번에는 두득이한 사정으로 미장원에 가서 머리를 깎았다. 그런데 거기서 머리를 깎는 동안에 세상에 여러가지 모습을 발견할 수 있었다. 제 머리를 깎던 여자분의 얘기를 들었다. 손님 중에 한 명이 차를 도난을 당했다고 한다. 보험처리를 어떻게 하나 하고 알아보았다고 한다. 보상을 받는데 차 안에 있는 모든 물건까지도 보상을 받을 수 있다는 정보를 받았다고 한다. 이 사람이 얼른 그 사실을 알고 도난 신고를 하기 전에 먼저 상점에 가서 최고급 골프채를 샀다. 또 보석 가게를 갔다. 보석 가게에서 비싼 보석을 사서 영수증을 챙겼다. 그 다음날 차량 도난 신고를 보험회사에 했다. 그리고 보험회사에서 3만불 이상의 돈을 받아냈다. 그 얘기를 그 여자분이 하면서 자기는 이 사실을 몰라서 그렇게 많이 받지를 못했다고 했다. 굉장히 부러워하는 모습이었다. 여러분들은 이 이야기를 듣고 어떤가. 내가 좋은 정보를 들었다 하는 마음이 드는가. 저는 그 이야기를 듣고 이 사람 정말 도둑질을 했구나 하는 마음이 들었다. 그 여자분에게 이야기를 했다. 그 사람은 참 나쁜 사람이라고 했다. 하나님이 다 보고 계신데 그걸 모르고 있다고 했다. 그 사람은 당장은 돈을 얻어서 기쁨이 있을지 몰라도 반드시 그 후손은 어려움을 겪을 것이라고 했다. 아마 그 사람은 많은 사람들에게 그 이야기를 하고 다녔을 것이다. 많은 사람들을 사기꾼으로 만드는 이야기이다. 더 우려되는 것은 자기 집에 가서도 그 이야기를 했을 것이다. 그러면 자기 자식들이 들었을 것이다. 그러면 자식이 그것을 듣고 나도 우리 아버지처럼 사기를 쳐서 돈을 벌어야겠구나 하는 마음이 각인될 것이다. 그러면 그 자식은 영원히 사기꾼이고 도둑놈이 될 것이다. 사람들은 자기 행동이 옳은지 그른지 모르고 떠들고 돌아다니고 자식들에게 이야기한다. 수많은 사람들이 이런 생각을 하는 사회는 썩어지고 병들고 부질서한 나라가 될 것이다. 무엇보다도 하나님께서 가만히 계시지 않을 것이다. 그 사람들에게는 하나님이 보이지 않는다. 그 사람들은 교회를 다닌지 안다니는지 모르겠습니다만 그 사람도 하나님을 만나야되겠다는 마음이 든다. 하나님을 만나는 것 뿐 아니라 하나님을 알아야한다. 그래서 제가 미장원에 있는 여자분에게 이야기했다. 그렇게 해서 돈을 얻느니 거지로 사는 것이 더 낫습니다. 우리는 하나님 앞에서 살아야될 줄로 믿는다.
1. 성령의 성막 사역
1) 성막의 비밀
우리는 계속적으로 성막에서 일어나는 일에 대해서 말씀을 받고있다. 지난시간에는 성막에서 일하는 대제사장과 제사장에 대해서 들었다. 오늘도 우리에게 대단히 중요한 말씀을 주고계신다. 성소에서 일어나는 성령께서 하시는 사역이 있다는 것을 가르쳐주고 계신다.
히 9:8 성령이 이로써 보이신 것은 첫 장막이 서 있을 동안에는 성소에 들어가는 길이 아직 나타나지 아니한 것이라
성령 하나님이 성막에서 보이신 것이 있다는 말이다. 성령께서 성막에서 일하고 계신 것을 의미하고 있다. 이것을 보게되면 성막에 성삼위 하나님께서 역사하고 계시다는 것을 붙잡을 수 있다. 속죄소에 성부 하나님께서 역사하심을 보았다. 성소에서 그리스도께서 사역하시는 것도 보았다. 오늘은 성령께서 성소에서 역사하시는 것을 말씀하고 계신다. 그 일하시는 것이 성소에서 지성소로 들어가는 길을 나타내지 않으셨다고 나온다. 하나님 만나게 되면 성소에서 지성소로 들어가야하는데 그 길을 성령 하나님께서 막고 계셨다는 말이다. 거기는 휘장에 가려져있었다. 휘장을 통해서 하나님을 만나지 못하게 하고있는 것이 성령님이셨다는 것이다. 구약 시대를 보면 이스라엘 백성들이 하나님을 직접 만나지 못했다. 지금 교회와서 만나고 있지만 그 당시에는 백성들이 성소에 들어가지도 못했고 만날수도 없었다. 하나님을 만나는 지성소에 들어가는 것은 딱 일 년에 하루 대제사장만 들어갈 수 있었다. 그냥 들어가는 것이 아니라 피를 가지고 있어야만이 들어갈 수 있었다. 당시 하나님을 만나기가 이렇게 힘들었다. 이것을 보면 우리가 얼마나 큰 축복을 받았는지 모른다. 그러면 성막을 만들고 제사를 드리는 것을 무엇을 의미하는가.
2) 제사
히 9:9 이 장막은 현재까지의 비유니 이에 따라 드리는 예물과 제사는 섬기는 자를 그 양심상 온전하게 할 수 없나니
비유라는 것은 어떤 암시를 나타낸다. 성막 제도를 통해서 그리스도께서 앞으로 성취하실 것을 보여주는 것이다. 제사장이 피를 갖고 지성소에 들어가는 것을 보고 앞으로 그리스도를 통해서 하나님을 만날 수 있다 하는 빛을 조금씩 쳐다보는 것이다. 그리고 성막에서 많은 제물과 제사를 드렸습니다만, 그것은 양심상 온전하게 할 수 없었다고 나온다. 그들이 예배를 드리고 제사를 지냈지만 그들이 인간 내면에 있는 영적 양심까지는 완전하게 할 수 없었다는 것이다. 그러면 많은 짐승을 죽이고 제사를 드리는 것을 왜 했는가.
히 9:10 이런 것은 먹고 마시는 것과 여러 가지 씻는 것과 함께 육체의 예법일 뿐이며 개혁할 때까지 맡겨 둔 것이니라
구약시대의 모든 율법을 보게되면 모든 규정이 먹는 것, 마시는 것, 씻는 것에 대한 내용이 자세히 기록되어있다. 육체에 대한 규정을 굉장히 많이 기록했다. 그렇기 때문에 영적 양심을 온전하게 할 수 없었다는 것이다. 인간의 근본적이 문제, 창 3, 6, 11장 문제를 해결할 수 없었다는 것이다. 그런데 8절 말씀에 성령께서 막으셨다는 것이다. 왜 성령께서 막으셨는가. 10절 마지막에 말씀하신다. 개혁할 때까지 맡겨 둔 것이니라. 십자가를 통해서 그리스도께서 완성시키실 때 까지 닫아놓으셨다는 것이다. 성령께서는 이 십자가 사건이 너무나 귀중하기 때문에 한꺼번에 보여주지 않으시고 조금씩 보여주시면서 십자가를 통해서 완전히 오픈하신다.
2. 성령 하나님의 사역
1) 삼위일체를 정리
성막에서는 성부하나님 성자하나님 성령하나님께서 역사하고 계시다고 말씀드렸다. 그러면 여기서 우리가 삼위일체 하나님에 대해서 정리해볼 필요가 있다. 포럼하는 중에 아직까지도 우리 교회에서 삼위일체 하나님에 대해서 정확히 붙잡지 못하고 계신 것을 들은 적이 있었다. 간단하게 말씀을 드리고 지나가겠다. 먼저 잡아야할 것은 성자 하나님 예수님에 대해서이다.
요 1:18 본래 하나님을 본 사람이 없으되 아버지 품 속에 있는 독생하신 하나님이 나타내셨느니라
이 땅에 오신 예수님은 하나님의 품 속에 계셨던 말씀되신 하나님이셨다는 것이다. 하나님이 말씀하셨을 때 천지가 창조 되었다. 그 말씀되신 하나님이 바로 성자하나님이 되셨다는 말이다.
빌 2:6 그는 근본 하나님의 본체시나 하나님과 동등됨을 취할 것으로 여기지 아니하시고
하나님 말씀이 바로 하나님이다. 그 분은 바로 하나님이기 때문에 그 분이 오셨다는 것은 바로 하나님이 오셨다는 말이다.
욜 2:28 그 후에 내가 내 영을 만민에게 부어 주리니 너희 자녀들이 장래 일을 말할 것이며 너희 늙은이는 꿈을 꾸며 너희 젊은이는 이상을 볼 것이며
하나님께서 말씀하실 때 내 영을 만민에게 부어준다고 하셨다. 내 영이라는 것은 하나님 안에 계신 영을 의미한다. 하나님 안에 계신 그 영은 독특한 인격체를 가지신 분이다. 이것을 자세히 알기 위해서는 고전 2:11 말씀을 보시기 바란다.
고전 2:11사람의 일을 사람의 속에 있는 영 외에 누가 알리요 이와 같이 하나님의 일도 하나님의 영 외에는 아무도 알지 못하느니라
내 영은 나를 가장 잘 알고 계신다. 내가 있고 내 안에 있고 영이 있다. 나는 내 영이 산 영인지 죽은 영인지 모른다. 그러나 내 안에 있는 영은 내가 산 영인지 죽은 영인지 너무나 잘 알고 계신다. 예수 그리스도 영을 통해서 내가 살았는지 죽었는지 내 영은 알고 있다. 마찬가지로 하나님의 일도 하나님의 영 외에는 알지 못하느니라. 하나님을 가장 잘 아시는 분이 하나님의 영이라는 말이다. 내 영이 나를 알듯이 하나님 영이 하나님을 아주 잘 알고 계신다. 무엇을 의미하는가. 하나님의 영이 하나님과 다른 독특한 인격체를 가지신 분이라는 것이다.
고전 2:10 오직 하나님이 성령으로 이것을 우리에게 보이셨으니 성령은 모든 것 곧 하나님의 깊은 것까지도 통달하시느니라
성령께서 하나님을 얼마나 잘 알고 계시냐면 하나님의 깊은 곳 까지 알고 계신다. 성령께서는 하늘의 뜻, 계획을 너무나 잘 알고 계시고 그 뜻을 따라서 능력으로 역사하신다. 그렇다면 이 성령님이 행하신 사역 가운데서 최고의 사역이 무엇인가 보아야겠다.
2) 성령님의 최고 사역
마 1:18 예수 그리스도의 나심은 이러하니라 그의 어머니 마리아가 요셉과 약혼하고 동거하기 전에 성령으로 잉태된 것이 나타났더니
말씀되신 하나님이 마리아 뱃속에 들어가서 잉태하게 되는데 그 역사를 하신 분이 셩령님이라는 것이다. 놀라운 사건이다. 이 사건은 하나님이 천지를 창조하신 사건보다도 엄청난 역사이다. 천지를 창조하신 것도 어마어마하지만 천지를 창조하신 하나님이 피조물 된 마리아 뱃속에 잉태하게 된 것은 성령 하나님 아니고는 할 수 없는 일이다. 성령께서 왜 이 일을 하셨는가. 인간을 구원하시기 위해서. 우리를 구원하시기 위해서 예수님이 오셔야하니까. 그것이 하나님의 뜻이었기 때문에. 성령께서 친히 하나님의 뜻을 따라서 역사하신 것이다. 성부, 성자, 성령하나님은 인간을 구원하시 위해서 이 모든 사역을 하셨다.
마 4:1 그 때에 예수께서 성령에게 이끌리어 마귀에게 시험을 받으러 광야로 가사
예수님께서 시험을 받으시는데 이것을 성령께서 이끌어가시고 마귀에게 시험받게 하셨다. 왜 이렇게 성령께서 역사하셨는가. 인간으로 오신 예수님에게 성령께서는 인간이 지금까지 당한 어려움을 직접 체험하시게 하기 위해 예수님을 인도하셨다. 인간이 시험 당하는 내용이 무엇인가. 많은 사람들이 넘어가는 것이 무엇인가. 돈 때문에, 육신 때문에, 성공 때문에 시험에 들고있다. 친히 예수님께서 가셔서 떡을 만들고 뛰어내리고 나를 경배하라고 다 주겠다고 감히 예수님을 시험하는데 인간이 그것을 당하고 있기 때문이다. 예수님께서 인간을 깊이 이해할 수 있도록 성령께서 역사하신 것을 볼 수 있다. 성령의 역사는 어마어마한 것을 볼 수 있다.
행 10:38 하나님이 나사렛 예수에게 성령과 능력을 기름붓듯 하셨으매 저가 두루 다니시며 착한 일을 행하시고 마귀에게 눌린 모든 자를 고치셨으니 이는 하나님이 함께 하셨음이라
이 예수님께서 이 땅에서 공생애를 사시면서 그리스도의 사역을 하셨다. 놀라운 역사를 많이 일으키셨다. 바다도 잔잔하게 만드시고 죽은 자도 살리시고 문둥병자도 일으키셨다. 그 원인이 뭐냐. 하나님이 나사렛 예수에게 성령과 능력을 기름붓듯 하셨다는 것이다. 예수님께서 이 땅에 오셔서 그리스도의 사역을 하셨는데 성령께서 함께 역사하시면서 사역을 하신 것을 의미한다. 그 뿐이 아니다.
롬 8:11 예수를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리신 이의 영이 너희 안에 거하시면 그리스도 예수를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리신 이가 너희 안에 거하시는 그의 영으로 말미암아 너희 죽을 몸도 살리시리라
예수님을 부활시키신 분이 성령님이었다는 말이다. 죽으심으로 부활하시는 재창조의 역사를 하신 분이 바로 성령었다는 것이다. 왜 예수님을 부활시키셨는가. 바로 첫 열매가 되게 하기 위해서 부활시키셨다고 얘기한다. 성령께서 예수님을 부활시키신 것 처럼 너희 인간들도 부활시킬 것이라는 것을 보여주신 것이다. 예수님께서 이 땅에 오신 것 부터 부활하신 것까지 성령께서 직접 간섭하시고 역사하신 것을 볼 수 있다. 그러면 우리가 성령님을 의지하지 않을 수 없는 것이다. 지금 우리는 성령시대에 살고있다.
3. 성령님의 인간사역
1) 근본문제 치유
성령께서 이 땅에 오셔서 인간들에게 행하실 사역이 있다. 성막에서는 도저히 해결할 수 없었던 인간의 근본문제를 성령께서는 치유하고 계시다. 구약의 율법에는 먹는 것, 마시는 것, 씻는 것 밖에 찾아볼 수 없었다.
엡 1:13 그 안에서 너희도 진리의 말씀 곧 너희의 구원의 복음을 듣고 그 안에서 또한 믿어 약속의 성령으로 인치심을 받았으니
옛날에는 하나님 만나기 위해서 짐승을 잡아서 피를 갖고 들어가야 대제사장 혼자서 겨우 하나님을 만날 수 있었다. 그런데 지금은 그럴 필요가 없는 것이다. 지금은 진리의 말씀, 구원의 복음을 듣고 믿으면 성령께서 임하신다는 것이다. 참 중요하다. 윤리 도덕의 말씀이 아니라 진리의 말씀, 구원의 복음을 듣고 믿어야한다는 것이다. 구원의 복음이 무엇인가. 예수가 그리스도라는 사실을 믿는 것이다. 누구든지 예수님이, 왕이시요 제사장이시요 선지자되신 그 분이 그리스도시다 하는 사실을 믿는 순간에 하나님의 자녀가 된다. 오늘 말씀에 믿어 성령으로 인치심을 받았다고 이야기하고 있다. 믿는 순간에 약속하신 성령이 내 마음과 영혼 속에 너는 내 자식이다 상속자다 하면서 인치신다. 구약시대에는 상상치도 못한 축복의 역사가 믿음을 통해서 나타나는 것이다. 착한 일을 하고 열심히 하는 것이 아니라 예수님이 그리스도되신 사실을 믿으면 되는 것이다. 근본문제 두번째이다.
롬 8:1 그러므로 이제 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 자에게는 결코 정죄함이 없나니
마귀는 우리 죄를 붙잡아 멸망의 길로 인도한다. 그런데 예수님만 믿기만 하면 결코 정죄함이 없다. 이 축복을 이미 받으신 줄로 믿는다. 왜인가.
롬 8:2 이는 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 생명의 성령의 법이 죄와 사망의 법에서 너를 해방하였음이라
완전히 끝난 것이다. 어떤 마귀의 권세도 건드릴 수가 없다. 어떤 문제도 우리를 붙잡을 수 없다. 결코 정죄함을 받지 않는다. 끝난 줄 믿으시기 바란다. 가문에 남았다 자꾸 생각하지 마시고 끝난 것이다. 믿는 순간에 역사하신다. 믿는대로 될지어다.
롬 8:26 이와 같이 성령도 우리의 연약함을 도우시나니 우리는 마땅히 기도할 바를 알지 못하나 오직 성령이 말할 수 없는 탄식으로 우리를 위하여 친히 간구하시느니라
우리는 연약해서 넘어질 수도 있다. 실수할 수도 있다. 절대 걱정하지 마시라. 성령의 인치심을 받았다. 또 하나님 보좌 우편에 계신 주님의 영께서 우리의 연약함을 도우시고 우리를 위해 기도하고 계신다. 우리가 이것을 붙잡으면 붙잡을 수록 우리 모든 문제가 조금씩 해결되어 나간다. 우리가 가끔 듣는다. 치유 받는데 기도했더니 벌떡 일어났다. 그러면 재발이 되는 것이다. 그러나 말씀을 계속 받으면서 믿음을 통해서 한가지 한가지 치유가 일어날 때는 완전히 치유가 되는 역사가 나타난다. 저도 보게되면 제 연약한 것들이 말씀을 듣는 순간에 깨닫고 치유받고 가문의 몰랐던 문제를 나중에 아 그랬구나 하면서 깨닫게되면 얼마나 감사한지 모른다. 꼭 붙잡으시기 바란다.
2) 영적 서밋의 길
우리가 영적 서밋을 누려야겠다.
행 13:2 주를 섬겨 금식할 때에 성령이 이르시되 내가 불러 시키는 일을 위하여 바나바와 사울을 따로 세우라 하시니
여기 앉아있는 것은 그냥 앉아있는 것이 아닌 줄로 믿는다. 바나바와 사울을 따로 세우신 것 처럼 여러분들을 성령께서 세우신 줄로 믿는다. 왜냐. 성령께서 이르시되 내가 불러 시키는 일을 위하여 라고 말씀하고 계신다. 나는 하나님의 자녀이다. 하나님의 자녀된 권세가 있다. 권세를 쓰고 능력을 발하기 위해서 우리를 부르신 것이다. 그런데 그냥 시키시는 것이 아니다.
요 7:38-39 나를 믿는 자는 성경에 이름과 같이 그 배에서 생수의 강이 흘러나리라 하시니. 이는 그를 믿는 자들이 받을 성령을 가리켜 말씀하신 것이라
예수 그리스도를 믿는 자는 우리 배에서 성령이 생수의 강 처럼 흘러나오는 축복을 주시겠다는 것이다. 많은 사람들을 살릴 수 있는 능력의 역사를 이루시겠다는 것이다. 예수님에게 성령을 물 붓듯 부으신 것 처럼 우리에게도 성령이 강처럼 흘러나게 하시겠다는 것이다. 이 축복 정말로 누리시기 바란다. 기도하면 된다. 저는 이 말씀을 보게되면 항상 생각나는 말씀이 있다.
민 20:11 모세가 그의 손을 들어 그의 지팡이로 반석을 두 번 치니 물이 많이 솟아나오므로 회중과 그들의 짐승이 마시니라
모세가 므리바 반석을 지팡이로 친다. 그런데 이 바위가 갈라지면서 거기서 물이 쏟아져나왔다. 물 때문에 많은 사람들과 많은 짐승들이 마실 수 있었다고 나온다. 저는 이 말씀을 들을 때 감격스럽다. 그 때 이스라엘 백성들은 3백만명 이상되는 사람들이 있었다. 3백만명이나 되는 사람들이 반석에서 나오는 물을 통해서 다 마실 수 있었다. 사람만 마신 것이 아니다. 소와 양때 수만마리가 다 마신 것이다. 한번으로 끝난게 아니라 38년 동안 거기서 물이 흘렀다. 가나안 땅 들어갈 때까지 거기서 나오는 물을 마신 것이다. 무엇을 나타내는가. 하나님께서 허락해주신 성령은 받기만 하면 부족함이 없도록 채워주시는 것이다. 이 때에 목마른 백성들이 물을 달라고 기도하니까 하나님께서 주신 것이다. 하나님 저에게도 성령의 물을 풍성하게 채워주세요. 그러면 모세에게 주신 것 처럼 똑같이 주신다. 그것이 눅 11:13 말씀이다.
눅 11:13 너희가 악할지라도 좋은 것을 자식에게 줄 줄 알거든 하물며 너희 하늘 아버지께서 구하는 자에게 성령을 주시지 않겠느냐 하시니라
믿고 구하시기 바란다. 예수님의 말씀을 믿고 구하는 자에게 반드시 응답주실 줄로 믿는다. 언약잡고 기도하시기 바란다.
결론
우리에게 와있는 축복이 어마어마하다. 이 축복을 정말로 누리는 여러분 되시기 바란다. 우리에게 주신 축복은 너무나 많다. 그런데 우리가 그것을 몰라서 누리지 못하고 있다. 항상 “저는 연약해서요” 하고 앉아있다. 그게 아니다.
요 14:26 보혜사 곧 아버지께서 내 이름으로 보내실 성령 그가 너희에게 모든 것을 가르치고 내가 너희에게 말한 모든 것을 생각나게 하리라
저는 축복 중에 가장 큰 축복이 바로 이 축복이라고 생각한다. 하나님께서 우리에게 모든 것을 다 가르쳐주신다고 나온다. 그러면 끝난 것 아닌다. 이 이상 어떻게 더 축복을 받는가. 그리고 말씀이 생각나게 하신다고 나온다. 말씀은 모든 문제의 키이다. 어떤 문제든지 말씀만 잡으면 끝난다. 여러분에게 이 축복이 있는 줄로 믿는다. 이 축복이 나에게 있다는 것을 깨닫는 순간에 나는 최고 축복 받은 자다 하고 고백할 수 있다. 여러분은 이미 최고의 축복을 받은 사람들이다. 최고의 선물을 받은 자들이다. 이제는 누리기만 하면 된다.
The Holy Spirit's Work in the Holy Place (Hebrews 9:8-10)

“8 The Holy Spirit indicating this, that the way into the Holiest of All was not yet made manifest while the first tabernacle was still standing. 9 It was symbolic for the present time in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot make him who performed the service perfect in regard to the conscience— 10 concerned only with foods and drinks, various washings, and fleshly ordinances imposed until the time of reformation.”
Introduction
This week as you know, I went to the hair barber to cut my hair. I usually go to the same hair salon to get my hair washed and cut but this time, I went to another place to get my hair done. While I was getting my hair cut, I realized that there were many things I discovered regarding the world. The hairdresser who was cutting my hair told me that she got her car robbed and was looking into her car insurance company but while looking into that, she was notified that she could be insured for not only her car but the things that got stolen from her car. This person realized this and before she called her car insurance, she bought the most premium golf set and also went to a pawn shop afterwards, and bought an expensive diamond. After she got the receipt for all of those items, she called and notified the car insurance and was able to get reimbursed for $30,000 from the car insurance company. This person said that she was at loss because she didn’t know this before. She felt so proud about this. What do you think about this? Do you feel that this person received such good information? When I heard that, I realized that this person committed fraud and robbery against the car insurance company. I looked at the hair dresser and I told her that she was a really bad person. God looks at everything and is watching you. She was briefly happy with the little gain of money that she got but this will absolutely effect her children and next generation. I am sure that she was going around boosting about this to other people. This is only making other people turn into con artists as well and what is more worrisome is that she is going around boasting about this to her family members. I am sure her children heard about this and when her children hear about this, I am sure her children think that it is okay to con and steal from others. Then, this will make her children thieves and con artists for the rest of their lives. People go around doing things not knowing that it will influence and effect their children. So many people are thinking this way and causing corruption and destruction to society and the next generation. More importantly, God will not standing around and just watching. These people think that God is not watching them. I am not sure if these people are attending church or not but I hope that they will meet God. Not only meet God but they must know God. I told the hair dresser that it would’ve been better for her to become a beggar instead of gaining all of that money. We must live before God. Last week, we spoke about the high priests and priests who served the church. Today, we have received an important message as well. We will discuss about the work of the Holy Spirit in the Holy Place.
1. The Holy Spirit's Work in the Tabernacle
1) The mystery of the Tabernacle
Verse 8 - The Holy Spirit was manifested in the tabernacle. In other words, the Holy Spirit was working within the tabernacle. If you look at this, the triune God was at work within the tabernacle. We have seen this so far about the work of God, the Father, and Christ working within the tabernacle. But, today, it speaks about the Holy Spirit working within the holy place. The work of the Holy Spirit in the holy place was to block people by the veil from God’s presence. The veil was separating the holy place. The veil that was blocking the people from the presence of God in the holy place was the Holy Spirit. The people couldn’t directly meet God in the Old Testament and could only meet God in the Holy of the Holiest. But right now at church, we are able to meet and be with God but back in the Old Testament, the people couldn’t meet God and couldn’t enter into the Holy of Holies. The way to meet God was only through one day, during the day of atonement and the only person who confront the presence of God was the high priest. The high priest didn’t just enter but he had to enter with the blood of the blood sacrifice. It was this hard to meet God back then. You don’t realize how blessed you are. Then, what does the sacrifice worship and tabernacle all symbolize?
2) Sacrifice worship
Verses 9 - There were metaphorical symbolism within this. Through the tabernacle, it was showing what Jesus Christ will do and accomplish. The high priest would take the blood into the Holy of Holies and the people were able to grasp the hope that they could meet God. Through this, this would symbolize that through Christ, the path to meet God would open once again. If that is so, what was the point of killing all of those animals and performing blood sacrifices?
Verse 10 - When you look at all of the laws of the Old Testament, it was all about how you should eat, drink, and wash. What you should be allowed to physically eat, drink, and what you should wash was the main content of the laws in the Old Testament. Because of that, with our mere conscience, it couldn’t be done. In other words, the fundamental problems of Genesis 3, 6, and 11 could not be solved with these methods. But in verse 8, it said that the Holy Spirit blocked them. Why did the Holy Spirit block them?
It says in the end of verse 10 - What does this mean? Through the cross, until Christ fulfilled His work completely and until mankind’s sins were completely forgiven, there was no other way. The work of the cross was so significant that the Holy Spirit showed a little preview of what would happen on the day of the cross, of the work of Christ. If that is so, we need to organize the meaning of the Triune God once again. From our church, there are people who still don’t comprehend and can’t hold onto the concept of the Trinity.
2. The Work of God the Spirit
1) Understanding the Trinity
I will simply speak about the Trinity since it is a complex subject. What we must hold onto first is we must know about who Christ is.
John 1:18 (“No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.”) - Christ who came to Earth was within the bosom of the Father and was the Word. When God spoke, the whole world was created. The word that God spoke was Jesus Christ.
Philippians 2:6 (“Who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God.”) - In other words, the word is God. Because Jesus is God, He came to earth as God.
When we speak about the Holy Spirit, we need to look at Joel 2:28 (“And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.”) - When God spoke, God said that He will pour out His Spirit upon all flesh. The Spirit is referring to the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God within God had great personality.
Too look more in depth about this, we need to look at 1 Corinthians 2:10-11 (“But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.”) - My spirit knows me the best. You have your physical body as well as your spirit exists. You don’t know if your spirt is dead or alive. But the spirit inside of you knows if it is dead or alive. The spirit ,Christ, knows if a person’s spirit is alive or dead. Then there are two existences, you yourself, and your spirit. If you look at this, the being that knows God the best is God’s Spirit. What does this mean? God’s Spirit possess a distinct characteristic and personality.
1 Corinthians 2:11 - The Holy Spirit knows God’s will and plan so well so the Holy Spirit is able to work according to God’s plan perfectly. If that is so, what is the greatest work of the Holy Spirit?
2) The greatest work of the Holy Spirit
Matthew 1:18, 4:1 (“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.”) - When Jesus Christ was born, the Holy Spirit said that it was the greatest event. The word, Jesus Christ, was conceived within the womb of Mary and through the working of the Holy Spirit, Christ was born. This was an astounding event. This was more eventful than the event of the creation of the world. When the world was created it was a great event but what was more powerful and astounding event was the birth of Jesus Christ. Why did the Holy Spirit complete this work? In order to save mankind. In order to save us. Because Jesus Christ had to come. This was the will of God. The Holy Spirit knew and saw the plan of God, and worked so that God’s plan could be fulfilled. In other words, in order to save us, the Holy Spirit completed its work.
The Holy Spirit didn’t just do this but if you look in Matthew 4:1 - It was the Holy Spirit that brought Jesus before Satan to be tempted. Why did the Holy Spirit work in this way? Since Jesus Christ came in human flesh, the Holy Spirit wanted Jesus to feel and experience the same temptations and experiences that mankind experiences. What was the content of the temptations of mankind? So many people were overcome with the temptations by Satan because of money, success, and worldly things, people fall into constant trials and temptations. And, Satan dared to tempt Jesus to bow down to him, to turn a rock into food, and to jump off a cliff for angels to save Jesus. The Holy Spirit worked so that Jesus Christ could understand mankind. The work of the Holy Spirit is this amazing and astounding.
Not only that but in Acts 10:38 (“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”) - While Jesus Christ was living on this Earth, He was completed the work of Christ. He performed many works and miracles, and even calmed the sea, healed diseases, and raised the dead. What was the reason for all of this? How was He able to perform all of these works? The power of the Holy Spirit was anointed upon Jesus Christ. When Jesus was completing the work of Christ, He was doing it with the filling and power of the Holy Spirit.
Not only that but in Romans 8:11 (“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”) - In other words, the one who resurrected Jesus, it was the Holy Spirit. To resurrect means to bring the dead back to life, and the one who accomplished this was the Holy Spirit. Why was Jesus Christ resurrected and brought back to life? So that Jesus Christ could be the firstfruit of life. It was to show that just like Jesus Christ was raised from death to life, the same will happen for the people of God. Through the work of Christ and His resurrection, we could see the intervention of the Holy Spirit. That is why we cannot ignore or cannot do anything without the intervention of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has shown us what we must do. In other words, the fundamental problems that could not be solved in the tabernacle and in the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit showed the way to solve the problems of mankind. In the Old Testament, it only focused on what we must eat drink, and wash.
3. The Holy Spirit's Work Through People
1) Solving the fundamental problem
Ephesians 1:13 (“In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.”) - Long time ago, they would take the animal sacrifice and shed its blood, and this was the only way for the high priest to meet God. But this is no longer needed. How can we meet God now? It is through the Word and when we believe in the word of God. This is so important. What does this mean? This is the word of truth and the gospel of our salvation. What is the gospel of salvation? The truth that Jesus is the Christ. We need to believe in this truth. Whoever believes in the truth that Jesus is the Christ, the True Prophet, Priest, and King, and truly believe in it, then at that moment you become a child of God. It is written that we were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. The moment we believe, God has sealed us with the Holy Spirit of promise. This was something that the people in the tabernacle in the Old Testament couldn’t even fathom and imagine. People are trying so hard to do good deeds but we don’t need anything else, we just need to believe.
The second fundamental problem, it is spoken in Romans 8:1-2, 26 (“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”) - Satan has held us bondage of our sin. When we enter into Christ and believe in Him, then there is absolutely no condemnation. I truly believe that we have received this blessing already. This is because the law of Christ has freed us from the law of sin and death. It has been completely finished. No matter what Satan does, he cannot take hold of you. We will not receive condemnation. It is finished. Stop thinking about all of the problems of your past. The moment you believe, works will take place. May it done according to your faith.
Romans 8:26 - We are weak and we may fall down or make mistakes but don’t worry at all. The Holy Spirit’s seal is upon us. The Holy Spirit is healing us through the power of Jesus Christ who is sitting at the right hand of Christ as well as through the intervention of the Holy Spirit. The more we hold onto this, then our problems will gradually be solved one by one. When you enter into the Word and faith, and continue to receive God’s wisdom and His word then true healing will take place. When I looked at this, I was able to discover my own weaknesses though the word and was able to receive healing. I also was able to realize what kind of problems existed within my family line as well as discover a lot more. Truly hold onto this. We need to enjoy the spiritual summit.
2) The path to the spiritual summit
Why is that? It is written in Acts 13:2 (“As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, 'Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.' ”) - The fact that you are sitting here, you aren’t just sitting here by mere coincidence. Just like how God raised up Barnabas and Paul separately, the Holy Spirit has raised you up specifically. Why is that? This is because for the work of what God has called you for. You are children of God so you posses the authority of God. In order to use this authority and power, God has called us.
God doesn’t just send us out but if you look in John 7:38-39 (“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.”) - In other words, the one who believes in Christ, the Holy Spirit will pour out from us like flowing living water. We have received the power to save many lives. Just like through the work in the wilderness where water was pouring out, within us, the flow of living water will pour out. Truly enjoy this blessing. You need to pray.
Whenever I come across this message, I always think about the message of Numbers 20:11 (“Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.”) - Moses hit the rock and water poured out and because of this, many of the Israelites and animals were able to quench their thirst. I was so touched by this word. How many people were within the wilderness? There were about 3 million Israelites. 3 million Israelites were able to drink water from this one source. Not only that but it was also provide water to all of the animals and livestock. This didn’t just happen once but they rock continued to flow out water for 30 years. It continued to flow until they entered the land of Canaan. This means that when we receive the Holy Spirit, then God will provide for us abundantly. At that time, the people who were thirsty, when they prayed to God to give them water, God gave them water. When you ask God for the living water of Holy Spirit, then God will give it to you just like God did for Moses and the Israelites.
This is the message of the Luke 11:13 (“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”) - Truly receive this. God will absolutely answer to those who hold onto His word and pray. Pray with the covenant. Truly receive blessings.
Conclusion
The blessing that we have received is tremendous. We need to enjoy these blessings. The blessing that we have received is so much but we are unaware of it so we can’t enjoy it. You always talk about how lacking you are. It isn’t like that at all. Hold onto John 14:26 (“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”) - The greatest blessing of all blessings is this. God has taught us all things, then this means it is finished. How can we receive a greater blessing than this? It will remind you of the word of God. The word of God is the key to the solution to all of your problems. If you just remember the word of God, then it is finished. I believe that you are within this blessing. The moment you are able to realize that you are within this blessing, then you can profess that you are the most blessed person. You are already received great blessings. You have already received the greatest gift. All you have to do now is enjoy. Truly enjoy this. Also today, let us hold onto our weaknesses once again and enter into prayer. Receive healing.
