영적서밋을 누리는 바울 (행26:30-32)
서론
제가 칼럼을 하나 읽었다. 작년 9월달 부터 호주에서 산불이 났었다. 불이 나서 한국 면적보다도 더 넒은 천백반 헥타르를 다 태웠다. 그 불로 인해서 소방관이 10명이 죽었다. 소방관을 합쳐 약 30명 정도가 불에 타서 죽었다. 집을 포함한 건물들이 2500채가 불탔다. 더군다나 심각한 것은 그 지역에 있던 코알라나 캥거루 등 야생동물이 10억마리가 타죽었다. 다행이 이번 2월 6일날 폭우가 내려서 산불이 꺼졌다. 이 폭우가 5일동안 계속 되었는데 30년 만에 최악의 폭우였다고 한다. 이틀동안 400ml라는 어마어마한 비가 내렸다고 한다. 또 다시 물 재난으로 바뀌어서 많은 사람이 고통을 받았다. 도무지 왜 이런 일이 일어나는가. 잘 아시는 것과 마찬가지로 중국 후베이 성에서 코로나 바이러스가 일어나고있다. 어제 텔레비전을 보니까 1660명의 사망자가 나왔다. 그리고 확진 환자가 7만명 가까이 되는 6만 8천 5백명이라고 한다. 왜 이런 일이 일어나는가. 어디에도 그 원인을 찾아볼 수 없다. 그런데 이 답은 성경에서 보면 간단하게 정확하게 나타난다. 호주를 보게되면 호주가 동성결혼이 허락된 가장 발전된 국가라 한다. 퀴어축제는 세계적으로 가장 유명하다. 퀴어축제를 자랑삼아 세계에 홍보를 하고 다니고 있다. 창 19장을 보게되면 소돔성이 게이 때문에 유황불의 심판을 받았다. 로마의 폼페이는 AD 79년에 베수비오 화산 폭발로 인해서 완전히 화산재가 덮어서 도시 자체가 없어져버렸다. 제가 가서 현장에서 보니까 11km나 떨어진 곳에서 바다를 건너서 화산재가 날아와서 폼페이를 뒤엎은 것을 보게되면 하나님이 아니면 그렇게 할 수가 없다. 중국 후베이성에 있는 우환은 2019년에 종교정책 시범지로 교회를 가장 핍박했다. 19년도에 우환에서 48개의 교회를 강제로 문을 닫게 만들었다. 뿐만 아니라 모든 선교사를 추방시켰다. 십자가를 불태워버렸다. 교회당을 폭파시키는 일을 했다. 그런데 참 이상한 것은 우환에서 종교 핍박을 실행했던 책임자가 이번 우환 폐렴 사망자의 1순위가 되었다. 이것이 우연히 생긴 일인가. 정말로 하나님은 살아계신 것을 믿으시기 바란다. 우리가 보이지 않는다고 안계신 것이 아니라 모든 것을 다 보시고 하나님 법대로 처리하시는 것을 볼 수 있다. 이 세상 모든 것을 하나님께서 한 명 한 명 다 보고계시고 알고계시고 인도하신다. 여기서 또 하나님의 인도하심을 받는 사도바울을 계속 보고있다.
1. 하나님의 인도하심
1) 바울의 무죄선언
하나님의 인도하심으로 사도바울이 베스도 총독과 아그립바 왕 앞에서 담대하게 복음을 전했다. 베스도는 네가 미친 사람이로구나 하고 비난했었다. 아그립바는 네가 적은 말로 나를 그리스도인이 되게하려 하는구나 하고 나왔다. 그러나 사도바울은 내가 결박된 것 외에는 당신도 나처럼 크리스찬이 되길 원합니다 했다. 사도바울은 안타까운 마음으로 정말로 내 말을 알아듣기를 원한다는 마음으로 말했다. 이야기를 듣던 사람들이 다 일어나 다른 장소로 이동을 했다고 나온다. 거기있던 모든 사람들이 같이 다른 장소로 모여서 사도바울에 대해서 평가를 했다. 그 평가를 한 것을 보게되면 사형 선고나 결박할 이유가 하나도 없다고 결론이 났다. 아그립바 뿐 아니라 모든 참석자들이 만장일치로 이 사람은 무죄입니다 하는 것이다. 많은 사람들이 사도바울을 비난했던 사람들까지도 사도바울이 선포하는 복음의 말씀을 듣고 은혜가 들어갔다는 것이다. 사도바울이 이야기를 잘해서보다도 성령께서 역사하셔서 그런 분위기가 된 줄로 믿는다. 이 모임은 사실은 베스도가 아그립바에게 내가 사도바울을 황제한테 보내야하는데 조언할 것이 있으면 해달라고해서 생긴 모임이다. 아그립바는 드디어 베스도한테 조언을 해준다. 그런데 그 이야기가 32절에 나타난다.
2) 아그립바 왕의 조언
행26:32 이에 아그립바가 베스도에게 이르되 이 사람이 만일 가이사에게 상소하지 아니하였더라면 석방될 수 있을 뻔하였다 하니라
사도바울이 아무 문제가 없다 하는 것을 선포하는 것이다. 그런데 이상하다. 아그립바가 이야기했음에도 그 많은 사람들이 사도바울을 비난하거나 미쳤다고 하는 사람이 아무도 없이 수긍했다는 것이다. 기독교는 아무 문제가 없다는 것을 선포하는 것이다. 나같으면 석방하겠는데 석방하지 못하는 이유가 가이사에게 상소를 했기 때문이라는 것이다. 그러나 상소 때문에 그런 것이 아니다. 사도바울이 죄수의 몸으로 가게된 것은 하나님의 더 큰 계획이 있었기 때문이다. 하나님께서는 죄수의 몸으로 가이사에게 보내기를 계획하셨다. 왜냐하면 죄수로 가게되면 로마 군인들이 보호를 해주고 지켜주고 완벽하게 가이사앞에 인도될 기회가 되는 것이다. 자유의 몸이었다면 혼자서 가기 위험할 뿐 아니라 감히 가서 가이사를 만날 위치도 못된다. 하나님께서는 행 23:11 말씀을 성취시키시면서 완벽하게 로마로 보내신다.
행23:11 그 날 밤에 주께서 바울 곁에 서서 이르시되 담대하라 네가 예루살렘에서 나의 일을 증언한 것 같이 로마에서도 증언하여야 하리라 하시니라
전도자 한 명을 세심하게 인도하시는 것을 보면 얼마나 하나님의 인도하심이 극진하신다. 하나님께서 우리도 이처럼 지금까지 인도해주신 줄로 믿는다. 언약잡은 우리에게도 하나님께서 세밀하신 인도하심에 따라 여기까지 온 줄로 믿는다. 언약잡은 자에게 주시는 어마어마한 축복이다.
2. 영적서밋의 누림
1) 신앙생활의 오해
저는 이번주간에 기도수첩이라든지 모든 메세지를 들으면서 영적 서밋이라는 메세지를 잡았다. 사도바울처럼 완벽한 하나님의 인도를 받을 수 있는 수준이 바로 영적 서밋의 단계이다. 영적 서밋에 있어서 꼭 잡아야할 것이 있다. 많은 사람들이 신앙생활하는데서 오해를 하는 부분이 많다. 신앙생활이 다른 종교생활과 다른 점이 무엇인가. 종교생활을 보게되면 노력해야, 최선을 다해라, 열심히 해라, 그래야지만 천국을 간다고 가르치는 것이다. 이것이 신앙생활이 아니다. 이것은 잘못된 것이다. 우리가 신앙생활이라는 것은 은혜로 되어지는 것을 누리는 것이다. 우리가 하는 것이 아무것도 없다는 것을 붙잡는 것이 정상적인 신앙생활이다. 구원은 우리가 노력해서 되는 것이 아니라 하나님의 은혜로 주어지는 것이다. 구원받은 자에게 주시는 하늘의 놀라운 평안도 하나님의 은혜이다. 우리가 잘 아는 바와 같이 전도하는 것도 우리가 하는 것이 아니라 주님께서 하시는 것이다. 더군다나 제자를 찾고 열매를 맺는 것도 하나님께서 만나게 해주셔야만이 가능한 것이다. 신앙생활은 하나님께서 은혜로 주신 것을 누리는 것이 올바른 신앙생활이다. 성경을 보게되면 행 1:8에 이렇게 말한다.
행 1:8 오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라 하시니라
증인이 되라가 아니라 되리라 하고 말씀하셨다. 창 39:3은 요셉에게 일어났던 일이다.
창39:3 그 주인이 여호와께서 그와 함께하심을 보며 또 여호와께서 그의 범사에 형통케 하심을 보았더라
요셉이 보디발에게 잘 보이기 위해 노력을 해서 이런 소리를 들은 것이 아니다. 보디발이 놀란 것은 하나님이 함께 하시는 것을 본 것이다. 요셉은 그것을 누린 것이다. 하나님께서 함께하시는 것을 누렸을 뿐이다. 그렇다면 우리가 여기서 올바른 신앙생활을 붙잡아야겠다.
2) 올바른 신앙생활
올바른 신앙생활이 무엇인가. 아주 간단하다.
마 11:28 수고하고 무거운 짐 진 자들아 다 내게로 오라 내가 너희를 쉬게 하리라
내 짐을 내가 지고 해결하려고 하지 말고 주님 앞에 와서 내려놓으라는 것이다. 이게 하나님께서 원하시는 올바른 신앙생활의 방법이다. 이것을 사람들이 못한다. 내가 하려고한다. 고통을 당하면서도 자기가 해결하려고 한다. 주님께서 짐을 내게 내려놓으라고 하신다. 사도바울은 이것을 놓고 이렇게 이야기했다.
갈 2:20 내가 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못 박혔나니 그런즉 이제는 내가 사는것이 아니요 오직 내 안에 그리스도께서 사시는 것이라 이제 내가 육체 가운데 사는 것은 나를 사랑하사 나를 위하여 자기 자신을 버리신 하나님의 아들을 믿는 믿음 안에서 사는 것이라
나의 모든 것을 다 주님과 함께 십자가에 못박아버리라는 것이다. 내 힘든 것, 내 욕심 다 못에 박아버리라는 것이다. 네 계획, 뜻대로 살지 말라는 것이다. 모든 것을 맡기라는 말이 무슨 말인가. 쉐마에서 나타난다.
신6:3-4 이스라엘아 듣고 삼가 그것을 행하라 그리하면 네가 복을 받고 네 조상들의 하나님 여호와께서 네게 허락하심 같이 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅에서 네가 크게 번성하리라. 4 이스라엘아 들으라 우리 하나님 여호와는 오직 유일한 여호와이시니
아무것도 하지 말고 그냥 주님께 다 맡기고 하나님만 사랑하면 된다는 것이다. 그분만 믿고 사랑하면 된다는 것이다. 요셉이 받았던 축복의 원인이 이것이다. 보디발에게 잘보이기 위해서 노력하고 감옥소에서 간수에서 잘보이기 위해서 노력한게 아니었다. 요셉이 한 것은 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하고 힘을 다해 하나님을 사랑한 것 밖에 없다. 하나님께서 그렇게 만드신 것이다. 얼마나 쉬운가. 출 3:11-12에 나타난다. 하나님께서 모세에게 말씀하신다.
출 3:11-12 모세가 하나님께 아뢰되 내가 누구이기에 바로에게 가며 이스라엘 자손을 애굽에서 인도하여 내리이까. 12 하나님이 이르시되 내가 반드시 너와 함께 있으리라 네가 그 백성을 애굽에서 인도하여 낸 후에 너희가 이 산에서 하나님을 섬기리니 이것이 내가 너를 보낸 증거니라
네가 내 백성들을 데리고 가나안 땅으로 들어가라 하고 하나님께서 말씀하셨다. 모세는 깜짝 놀라서 내가 할 수 있습니까 했다. 내가 누구이기에 바로에게 가며 이스라엘 자손을 애굽에서 인도하리이까. 그 때 하나님께서 내가 반드시 너와 함께 있겠다고 하셨다. 맡기라는 것이다. 그럼 내가 다 한다는 것이다. 우리가 하나님 계획 속에 들어가기만 하면 되는 것이다. 힘쓰고 노력하지 마시기 바란다. 올바른 하나님의 계획 속에 들어가기만 하면 된다. 그래서 우리에게 주신 메세지가 영적 서밋에 집중을 하라는 말씀이다.
3. 영적 서밋의 집중
1) 말씀서밋
신앙 생활은 열심이 아니라는 말이다. 올바른 방향에 집중하는 것이다. 올바른 방향이라는 것은 올바른 언약을 붙잡으라는 말이다. 그러면 된다는 말이다. 방향 잡는 것을 왜 못하는가. 그러면 방향을 어떻게 잡는가. 말씀 서밋이면 된다. 말씀의 중요성을 붙잡는 것이다. 모든 것을 다 맡기고 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하고 생각을 다하는 방법이 말씀을 붙잡는 것이다. 계 2-3장 말씀을 보면 소아시아에 있는 일곱교회 성도들에게 하신 말씀이 나타난다. 교회에게 이야기했다는 것은 교회 성도들에게 이야기했다는 것이다. 그런데 주님께서 일곱교회에 한마디 한마디 하시면서 마지막에 꼭 하신 말씀이 있는데 “귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을찌어다“ 하는 말씀이다. 계시록에 나타나는 일곱교회는 온 세상 모든 교회를 말한다. 다시 말씀드리면 온 교회 성도들아 교회에 선포된 이 말씀을 들을찌어다 하는 것이다. 하나님께서는 그 말씀을 통해서 뜻을 선포하고 계시니까 그 말씀을 들으라는 것이다.
계1:3 이 예언의 말씀을 읽는 자와 듣는 자와 그 가운데에 기록한 것을 지키는 자는 복이 있나니 때가 가까움이라
예언의 말씀이라는 것은 언약의 말씀을 나타낸다. 이 언약의 말씀을 듣는 자 읽는 자 가운데 기록한 것을 지키는 자는 복이 있다고 말씀하고 있다. 그 복이 뭐냐는 것이다.
시119:105 주의 말씀은 내 발에 등이요 내 길에 빛이니이다
말씀을 통해서 네 길을 완벽하게 인도해주신다는 것이다. 사도바울은 말씀을 따라가고 있다. 지금 우리도 말씀을 따라가고 있다. 이게 가장 큰 복이라는 것이다. 왜 그런가.
마5:18 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 천지가 없어지기 전에는 율법의 일점 일획도 결코 없어지지 아니하고 다 이루리라
성경에서 약속하신 말씀은 반드시 성취된 줄로 믿는다. 동성애 하는 사람들이 얼마나 불쌍한지 모른다. 교회를 핍박하는 사람들이 얼마나 불쌍한지 모른다. 그 사람들은 말씀을 자기 나름대로 해석해서 마음대로 살아가는 사람들이다. 그래도 하나님은 거기에 절대로 속지 않으신다. 하나님은 살아계신다. 이 세상에 어떤 지혜자보다도 지혜가 뛰어나신 창조주 하나님이다. 우리가 살 수 있는 길은 말씀을 붙잡는 것이다. 열심히 하는 것이 아니다. 언약을 잡는 것이다. 언약을 잡고 어떻게 해야하는가. 기도서밋으로 들어가야한다.
2) 기도서밋
복받는 자가 누군지 말씀하신다.
시1:2 오직 여호와의 율법을 즐거워하여 그 율법을 주야로 묵상하는 자로다
제일 복받는 사람이 말씀을 주야로 묵상하는 자라는 것이다. 밤을 새가면서 노력하고 힘쓰는 것이 아니라는 것이다. 주야로 묵상하는 자, 즐거워하는 자이다. 어떤 복을 받는가.
시 1:3 저는 시냇가에 심은 나무가 시절을 좇아 과실을 맺으며 그 잎사귀가 마르지 아니함 같으니 그 행사가 다 형통하리로다
렘넌트 7명이 바로 이런 축복을 받은 사람들이다. 요셉은 정말 하나님을 사랑하고 마음으로 다하고 뜻을 다하고 힘을 다해서 하나님을 사랑했을 뿐이다. 다윗은 말씀 붙잡고 항상 묵상하며 하나님을 사랑했다. 이들의 삶은 다 형통한 삶이었다. 하나님께서 그렇게 만드신 것이다.
마6:33 그런즉 너희는 먼저 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라 그리하면 이 모든 것을 너희에게 더하시리라
이 언약을 잡으시기 바란다. 우리가 묵상할 기도제목이 이것이다. 그 어떤 것 보다도 나는 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하겠습니다. 이것이 성취되게 하여 주옵소서. 모든 것을 너에게 더해준다는 것은 형통의 복을 주겠다는 것이다. 그러므로 우리가 부르짖을 것은 무엇인가.
렘33:3 너는 내게 부르짖으라 내가 네게 응답하겠고 네가 알지 못하는 크고 은밀한 일을 네게 보이리라
요셉이 국무총리될 것은 생각도 안했었다. 다니엘도 국무총리될 것은 생각도 안했다. 다윗이 골리앗 때려칠 것은 생각도 안했다. 그런데 하나님을 사랑하고 그 말씀을 붙잡으니까 크고 은밀한 일을 나타내시는 것이다. 이 축복 누리는 여러분 되시기 바란다. 24시 이 응답을 받아야겠다.
3) 전도서밋
우리가 많은 사람들을 만난다. 그럼 그 사람들에게 무슨 말을 해야하는가. 어떤 철학적 이야기, 지식적 이야기 필요없다. 오직 그리스도. 왜 그런가.
요 14:6 예수께서 이르시되 내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니 나로 말미암지 않고는 아버지께로 올 자가 없느니라
왜 그런가. 많은 사람들을 살릴 수 있는 길이 예수님 밖에 없기 때문이다. 문제를 해결할 수 있는 방법이 그리스도밖에 없기 때문이다. 그래서 예수님께서 친히 말씀하셨다. 내가 곧 길이다, 진리다, 생명이다 하셨다. 그렇기 때문에 우리가 예수를 이야기해야한다. 문제있는 사람을 만난다. 예수님이 길이십니다, 예수님이 답이십니다, 이것을 이야기 해줘야한다. 이것 말고 무엇을 이야기하겠는가.
막10:45 인자의 온 것은 섬김을 받으려 함이 아니라 도리어 섬기려 하고 자기 목숨을 많은 사람의 대속물로 주려 함이니라
여러분 이번 호주의 재난이라던지 중국 우환에 사는 많은 사람들이 죽어가고 있다. 사실은 거기서 죽어간 사람 뿐 아니라 우리도 그런 저주와 재앙을 받았어야했다. 많은 사람들도 그런 저주와 재앙 가운데 죽을 수 밖에 없는 존재이다. 주님께서는 이것을 아시고 그 저주와 재앙을 감당하셨다. 너희들의 모든 저주와 재앙을 짊어지마, 나에게 맡겨라 하시는 것이다. 그래서 우리는 예수님을 이야기할 수 밖에 없다. 그 사람들을 찾아가서 방법이 있다고 이야기해주는 것이다.
요일3:8 죄를 짓는 자는 마귀에게 속하나니 마귀는 처음부터 범죄함이라 하나님의 아들이 나타나신 것은 마귀의 일을 멸하려 하심이라
수많은 사람들이 사단의 종노릇하고있다. 이 퀴어축제를 하면서 그것이 좋다고 하면서 웃고 다니고. 그게 제정신으로 그러는 것인가. 얼굴을 보게되면 사실 그것이 기쁜 얼굴이 아니라 발악하는 얼굴힌 것이다. 악한 사단의 손아귀에서 벗어나게 하는 것은 누군가. 바로 만왕의 왕되신 그리스도밖에 없다는 것이다. 당신을 해방시킬 분은 그리스도밖에 없다는 것을 말하는 것이다. 바로 이것이 전도서밋이다. 어떤 것을 이야기하겠는가. 오직 예수님만이 이 문제를 해결할 수 있다. 이것을 증거해야하는 것이다. 증거해야하는 이유가 요 6:63에 나타난다.
요6:63 살리는 것은 영이니 육은 무익하니라 내가 너희에게 이른 말은 영이요 생명이라
우리가 이 말씀을 통해서 영이 산다고 이야기하고 있다. 여기서 중요한 말씀이 있다. 요 14:6에서는 예수님께서 내가 곧 생명이라고 하셨다. 그런데 여기에 보게되면 내 말이 생명이라고 말씀하시고 있다. 무슨 말씀인가. 너희가 내 복음, 내가 그리스도라는 사실을 증거하게 되면 그들이 산다는 것이다. 너희들이 그리스도만 증거하라는 것이다. 복음만 증거하라는 것이다. 그렇게 되면 죽은 생명이 살아나게될 것이다. 우리가 얼마나 큰 축복을 받았는지 모른다. 어쩌자고 우리가 이런 큰 축복을 받았는가. 우리는 말씀서밋, 기도서밋, 전도서밋을 다 받았다. 이제 누리기만 하면 된다. 올바른 신앙생활을 붙잡으면 된다. 힘쓰고 노력하는 것이 아니다. 모든 것을 주님앞에 다 맡겨버리는 것이다. 그리고 말씀만 따라가는 것이다. 주님만 사랑하고 말씀만 따라가는 것이다. 그러면 완벽하게 인도해주신다. 그러면 하나님께서 우리를 사랑하셔서 열매맺는 삶을 살게 해주신다. 세상에 이런 축복이 어디 있는가. 하나님께서 다 하시고 축복은 우리가 받고. 이 쉬운 축복을 왜 우리는 놓치고 있는가. 누리시는 여러분 되시기 바란다.
결론
사 43:4 네가 내 눈에 보배롭고 존귀하며 내가 너를 사랑하였은즉 내가 네 대신 사람들을 내어 주며 백성들이 네 생명을 대신하리니
얼마나 은혜로운 말씀인지 모른다. 지금 하나님께서 저와 여러분에게 하시는 말씀이다. 네가 나 하나님의 눈에 너무나 보배로운 존재라는 것이다. 믿으시는가. 하나님께서는 여러분들을 너무나 귀중한 보배로 생각하시는 것이다. 뿐만 아니라 너무나 존귀한 존재이다. 얼마나 좋은가. 우리가 뭘했다고 존귀하게 생각하시는가. 이게 은혜다. 어쩌자고 저 같은 사람을 존귀한 존재를 보시는가. 뿐만 아니라 사랑하였다고 말씀하신다. 우리는 사랑받는 존재이다. 우리는 주님을 배반하고 실망시키는 삶을 사는데 주님께서는 한없이 우리를 사랑하신다. 십자가에서 자기 자신을 다 버리고 태울 정도로 우리를 사랑하신다. 다 주고도 그래도 모자라는 사랑이다. 그 정도로 사랑하신다. 그러면 우리는 무엇을 해야하는다. 사랑만 하면 된다. 깊은 교제로 들어가시기 바란다. 이번 주간에는 정말로 하나님을 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하고 힘을 다해서 사랑하게 될 때는 어마어마한 성령 충만의 역사가 임할 줄로 믿는다. 누리시는 여러분 되시기를 예수 그리스도 이름으로 축원한다.

There was a news article that I read and it was about the wildfire that arose in Australia. This wildfire damaged and burned down 11 acres of forest. 10 firefighters died throughout this whole ordeal as well as 30 other people. Not only that but 2,500 buildings and homes were burned down as well as it has been estimated about 10 billion animals died. What was really fortunate throughout this wildfire was the rainfall that started. It was recorded that it was the longest time of rainfall in Australia, it was a total of five days of rainfall. But what was unfortunate was not only the fire but the rainfall came for five days, it caused flooding. Why is this all happening? As you know in China, there was and is the spread of the coronavirus. I watched the news and it was recorded a mortality of 1,600 people. Also, 68,500 people have been confirmed to be affected with the virus. Why are of these things happening? The Bible explains the reason very well and in basic terms. When we look at Australia, it is a country that is well known for being opened the most for homosexuality and homosexual marriage. Also, they proudly announce that they have the greatest queer parties throughout the world. It was the same scenario within the region of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible. Also, as you know within the region of Pompeii, there was a volcano that erupted that destroyed the entire city. This volcano was far away but it reached the waters and the region of Pompeii. When we look at the Wuhan region of China, they were known as the city that persecuted Christians the most within China. They made and forced 40 churches to close down in the region of Wuhan a well as deported all of the Christian missionaries. They would burn down crosses and destroyed the church buildings. What was strange was that within the region of Wuhan, the person who was responsible for the perfection of Christians was also criticized for the spread of the coronavirus. What we have to realize is that God sees and is in charge of all things. God sees every one of us and guides us. We have been reading regarding Apostle Paul who has been guided by God perfectly.
1. God's Guidance
1) Paul's declaration of innocence
Verses 30-31 - Paul who was being guided by God, he boldly shared the gospel in front of Governor Festus and King Agrippa. Governor Festus criticized Paul and claimed him to be insane. And, for King Agrippa, he told Paul that he almost convinced him to become a Christian. But for Paul, he earnestly and sincerely told them to become a Christian themselves. Paul had such pity for them that he earnestly yearned them to become a child of God and to be saved. The moment Paul said this, the people who heard this all stood up and left. They left to judge and make a decision against Paul to see if he was guilty or innocent. When they made this judgment, they reached the conclusion that Paul had no crime and was not deserving of death or in chains. Not only did King Agrippa agree to this but all people there agreed that Paul had committed no crime. Even the people who persecuted Paul, after they heard the gospel, they concluded that Paul was innocent. We can see that Paul spoke well but in the end what was working was the working of the Holy Spirit. This meeting was set up in the first place because governor Festus wanted King Agrippa’s viewpoint regarding Paul and his case. King Agrippa gives his recommendation in verse 32.
2) King Agrippa's advice
Verse 32 - King Agrippa announced that Paul was innocent and did not commit any crime. When King Agrippa announced this, no one objected him and all agreed that Paul was innocent. What King Agrippa was able to conclude that there was nothing wrong with Christianity. If I was King Agrippa, I would’ve released Paul but Paul was not released because he had to appeal before Caesar. It wasn’t the appeal that was the issue, it was because there was God’s plan for Paul to appear before Caesar as a prisoner. God planned for Paul to stand before Caesar in chains from the beginning. This was because God allowed Paul who was a Roman citizen to be protected by the Roman army on his way to Caesar. If he was not a Roman citizen, he wouldn’t have been able to reach Caesar. But God fulfilled the message of Acts 23:11 (“But the following night the Lord stood by him and said, 'Be of good cheer, Paul; for as you have testified for Me in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness at Rome.' ”) perfectly through Paul. We can see that God guides evangelists perfectly. If we look at this, we can see that God has guided us even now, perfectly. To be honest, we who have the covenant, God has guided each one us perfectly to come to this point and to this place. We should be thankful. Because we have the covenant, there are tremendous blessings that have been bestowed upon us. As I listened to the remnant journal messages this week, I held onto the importance of living as the spiritual summit.
The way to live the perfect life guided by God just like Paul, it is by being a spiritual summit. There is something that we must hold onto in order to become a spiritual summit.
2. Enjoyment of the Spiritual Summit
1) Misunderstanding about Christian living
Many people have misunderstanding on how to live their walk of faith. What is the difference between Christian living and religious living? Religious life emphasizes the importance of doing but this is not a Christian walk of faith. This is incorrect. Christian walk of faith is enjoying the grace of God. We have to understand that there is nothing that we need to do within our walk of faith. In other words, we did not receive salvation with our own doing but it was all through God’s grace. It is also part of God’s grace that we have been given all of the blessings after salvation. As we know every well, evangelism is not something that we do but it is something that God does completely through us. Bearing fruit and finding disciples is not something that we do but God grants us these meetings. What is walk of faith? We are enjoying God’s grace that He has bestowed upon us.
If we look in the Bible in Acts 1:8 (“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”) - It is not “we have become a witness” but it said that we “shall” be a witness.
In Genesis 39:3 (“When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did.”) - This is a story about Joseph. Joseph did not work hard so that he can hear good words from Potiphar but the reason why Potiphar was impressed with Joseph was because God was with him. What did Joseph enjoy? All he did was enjoy that God was with him. That is why we must hold onto the method of enjoying the correct walk of faith. How can we do this? It is very simple.
2) Correct Christian living
It is through Matthew 11:28 (“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”) - Don’t try to solve your problems but God is telling you to come to Him. This is the walk of faith that God wants from you. But people can’t do this. They always to try their problems on their own. It is quite strange. God is telling us to lay down our burdens to him.
This is why Paul spoke in Galatians 2:20 (“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”) - God is telling us to lay ourselves down on the cross with Christ. Lay down all of your hard work and desires down on the cross. God is telling us not to live according to our plan and will but God is telling us to come to Him and lay all things down.
What does this Word mean? It is written in Deuteronomy 6:4-5 (“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”) - What does it mean to entrust all things to God? Don’t do anything else but lay all things to God and love Him with all of your heart, mind, and soul. Just believe and love God. This is only what God wants. This is the reason why Joseph was blessed tremendously. He didn’t try his best to impress people around him but what Joseph did was love God with all his strength, mind, soul, and heart. And, it was God who changed the results. This is so simple then.
This is the message that God gave to Moses as seen in Exodus 3:11-12 (“But Moses said to God, 'Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?' 12 So He said, 'I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.' ”) - God commanded Moses to go to the land that He promised him. Then, Moses asked how he could do this? What did God say? God promised that he will be with Moses till the end. God was telling him to trust and love Him. Then, God promised that He will do the rest. This is what our walk of faith is about. We don’t need to try to do this or that but all we have to do is enter into God’s absolute and perfect plan. Then, what is the message that God has given to us? It is to enter into the spiritual summit. In other words, Christian walk of faith is not about hard work but it is directing and concentrating your plan towards the upright and proper plan of God. Having an upright plan means to hold onto the proper covenant. That is all we have to do. It is so simple to have this direction. How can we have this direction? It is to become a summit of the Word. We have to understand the importance of God’s Word.
3. Concentration Upon Spiritual Summit
1) Summit of the Word
The method to give your entire heart, mind, body, and soul is by holding onto the Word of God.
This was the message that was given to the seven churches in Asia as seen in Revelation 1:3, 2:7 (“Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near. 2:7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”) - What does it mean that the Word of God was given to the church? It means that the Word was given to the church congregation. God has given His Word to each seven churches and the Word that He spoke was, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says.” This is referring to all of the churches throughout the world. For all churches, they must hear the Word of God. This is because, through God’s Word, He will fulfill His Word so that is why He is commanding us to hear His Word.
Revelation 1:3 - This is talking about the covenant. It said that those who reads, hears, and keeps the covenant of God will be blessed. What is this blessing? It is written in Psalm 119:105 ("Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.) - Through the Word of God, God promised that He will guide us perfectly. This was what Paul did, he followed the Word of God. We are following the flow of the Word of God. This is the greatest blessing. Why is that? It is written in Matthew 5:18 (“For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.”) - What is promised in the Bible, it will absolutely be fulfilled. Those who carry out the acts of homosexuality, they are so pitiful. Those who persecute the church, they are so pitiful. They are people who interpret the Bible however they want. Even though so many people may interpret the Bible in their own way, God will absolutely will not be deceived by their words or schemes. This is because God is alive and He is the Creator of the world who has the greatest wisdom above any intellectual in this world. That is why, the only way to live is by holding onto the Word. It is not about what you do but it is your direction that is important. When you hold onto the Word, what must you do next? You must enter into the prayer summit.
2) Prayer summit
Who is the blessed one? It is written in Psalm 1:2-3 (“But whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.”) - The most blessed one is the one who keeps and meditates on the Word of God. It is not the one who tries their best. It is the one who meditates and finds joy within the Word of God. What kind of blessings will you receive? Psalm 1:3 - This is the reason why the seven remnants were blessed. For Joseph, he truly loved God with his entire heart, mind, and soul. For David, he continued to hold onto the Word of God, meditated on the Word, and loved God with the Word. All of these people lived a life of prosperity. But it was God who made them this way.
Matthew 6:33 ("But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. ") - Hold onto this. What must we meditate on then? We must meditate on this. No matter what, we must seek after God’s kingdom and righteousness before anything else and pray that God will fulfill this within your life. The fact that God promised that all things will added to you means that God will grant to you the prosperity of the gospel. Then, what must we call God out for?
It is written in Jeremiah 33:3 (“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”) - Joseph never thought that he would become the governor of Egypt. Daniel never thought that he was going to become a high official. David never imagined that he was going to defeat and kill Goliath. But the commonality between these people were, all they did was love God and hold onto His Word. In the end, God showed them unexpected things that they don’t know. Truly enjoy this blessing. Received this answer 24-hours a day.
3) Evangelism summit
Then, we must enjoy the life of the evangelism summit. We will meet many people but we must not say anything else but of only Christ alone. Only Christ. Why is that? The reason is written in John 14:6 (“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”) - Why is that? The only way to save people is through only Christ, who is the True Way. The only way to solve problems is through Christ alone. That is why God is telling us because He is the true way and life. That is why we must speak about only Christ alone. There are people who have problems but we must proclaim that only Christ is the only way and solution. This is what we must do. What else can we talk about with them? Nothing else but this alone.
If we look in Mark 10:45 (“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”) - Many people suffered within the wildfire in Australia and the coronavirus in China, and a lot of people have died from this. But if it weren’t for God, we would’ve ended with the same fate. We as humans are face with the fate full of curses and disasters but God knowing this, He sent down His one and Only Son to bear all our suffering and curses on the cross. Jesus Christ promised that He will bear all of your curses and sufferings so that is why He said for us to entrust it all to him. This is what we must share. We must share that there is a way and an answer.
1 John 3:8 (“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”) - So many people are living as slaves of Satan. They are living their lives in confusion and thinking that they are happy but what they don’t know is that they are living in corruption and enslaved to Satan. Who is the One who can overcome us from the bondage from the wicked and corrupted Satan? It is through only Christ, the True King. The way to liberate and free us is God alone. This is living the life of an evangelism summit. Jesus Christ is the only way to solve problems. This is what we must testify.
Why must we do this? It is written in John 6:63 (“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”) - Through the Word of God, our souls will live. There is an important message here. John 14:6 - God said that He is the way, truth, and life. And, within this scripture, it says that His Word is life. What does this mean? This means when we testify of God’s Word, people will live and life will be given. What we must do is relay the gospel alone. If you do this, then life is proclaimed and people will live through you. Truly enjoy this. You don’t know how blessed you truly are. How was it that we have come to receive this blessing? We are the spiritual, prayer, and evangelism summits. All we have to do is enjoy this. All we have to do is enjoy the correct Christian walk of faith. It is not something that you do by your own strength and ability. Trust all things to God and just follow His Word. Just love God and follow His Word. Then, God will perfectly guide us. Also, God will use and allow us to bear fruits. Where can we find this kind of blessing on this earth? God is giving us this blessing. Why are we making it so difficult to enjoy this blessing? It is so simple.
<Conclusion>
Hold onto Isaiah 43:4 (“Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.”) - This is such a graceful message. This is the message that God has given to us. Within God’s sight, we are so precious and graceful. Do you believe in this? God sees each one of us as so precious. Not only that but we are so honored before God. It is so amazing. What have we done to deserve this? This is God’s grace. How were we able to live such an honored and graceful life in front of God? Not only that but God said that He loves us. We are beings who are loved. We are living a life where we always disappoint and betray God but God still tells us that He loves us. He gave up everything and died on the cross for us and He did this all of us to show us that He loves us. Even though He did all of that on the cross, that love given to us was not enough for God. Then, what we do? Truly love God. Truly enjoy this blessing. May you stand within this witness and answer. Through this week, may we love God with our whole heart, mind, and soul and if we are able to do this, then God will grant us the filling of the Holy Sprit. May we enjoy this within the name of Jesus Christ.
