홍해를 육지같이 건넌 믿음(히11:29)
서론
어떤 여인이 스위스 루체른에 있는 1798m되는 리기산에 걸어서 올라갔다. 그 산은 너무나 아름다워서 산의 여왕이라는 별명이 있을 정도였다. 이 여자는 그 아름다운 산을 구경하기 위해서 하루만에 올라갈 수 없고 중간에 자야하니까 많은 짐을 갖고 올라갔다. 그 모습을 보고 안내자가 짐을 좀 들어주겠다고 했다. 이 여자는 그 말을 듣고 의심이 생겨서 일부만 맡기고 나머지는 다 자기가 들고갔다. 산 중턱쯤에 도착했는데 짐이 너무 많아서 숨이 막혀서 도저히 갈 수 없었다. 가이드가 다시 이야기했다. 지팡이만 뺴다 다 저에게 맡기세요. 그런데 여자는 고집을 세우고 괜찮다면 계속 올라갔다. 올라가다 너무 힘이 들어서 이제는 지쳐서 주저앉아버렸다. 또 다시 안내자가 저를 믿고 다 저한테 맡기세요 했다. 한참 생각하다 여자는 자기 있는 모든 짐을 안내자에게 맡겼다. 맡기고 나니까 너무나 가벼웠다. 너무나 쉽게 산 꼭대기까지 올라갈 수 있었다. 정상에서 기쁨을 나누었다. 그 때 마음에 음성이 들렸다. 이 어리석은 자야 그렇게 믿지 못하겠더냐 하는 음성이 들렸다. 여러분들은 어떠신가. 의심, 걱정이 되서 못 내려놓는 것이 있는가. 오늘 말씀을 통해서 다시 한 번 메세지를 붙잡는 귀한 시간 되시기 바란다.
1. 하나님이 기뻐하신 믿음
1) 육지 같이 건넌 믿음
오늘 하나님께서 기뻐하신 믿음이 29절에 나타난다.
히 11:29 믿음으로 그들은 홍해를 육지 같이 건넜으나 애굽 사람들은 이것을 시험하다가 빠져 죽었으며
홍해를 건넌 것이 무엇이 그렇게 중요하냐 할 수 있지만 바닷속을 걸어가는 것이 간단한 것이 아니다. 물 갈라진 그 높이가 200m나 된다고 이야기한다. 홍해에 아카바만쪽에서 이 장소가 발견되었다. 그 길이가 15km정도 된다도 한다. 걸프만의 깊이 1200m이상 깊은데 딱 그 장소만 200m되는 아주 얕은 길이 평평하게 나져있다고 한다. 그런데 거기서 고고학자들이 로마인들이 썼던 로마 병거 8개짜리 바퀴 살이 발견되었다. 그것이 애굽의 18왕조 때만 있었던 8개짜리 바퀴살이라고 한다. 그러니까 모세가 건널 때 잠겼던 로마 병거다 하는 것이 증명이 된 것이다. 실질적으로 바닷속을 건너갔다는 것이 증명이 된 것이다. 놀라운 사건이다. 하나님께서 이루신 일이 정말로 있었다는 것이다. 200m면 얼마나 높은가.
출 14:29 그러나 이스라엘 자손은 바다 가운데를 육지로 행하였고 물이 좌우에 벽이 되었더라
이것은 조금도 꾸며낸 이야기가 아니라 실질적으로 있었다는 것이다. 그 높은 200m되는 물 밑으로 걸어가는 것이 얼마나 무섭겠는가. 그런데 조금도 두려움이 없이 건넜다. 하나님께서는 그것을 보시고 기뻐하셨다.
2) 애굽 사람들의 시험
말씀을 계속 보게되면 애굽 사람들은 이것을 시험하다가 빠져죽었다고 나온다. 이 애굽사람들이 건너갈 때 무슨 생각을 했겠는가. 이스라엘 백성들이 걸어가는 것을 보고 저들이 가면 우리도 갈 수 있다 하고 쫓아갔던 것이다. 저들도 가면 나도 갈 수 있다고 생각한 그 자체가 착각이었다는 것을 몰랐던 것이다.
출 14:28 물이 다시 흘러 병거들과 기병들을 덮되 그들의 뒤를 따라 바다에 들어간 바로의 군대를 다 덮으니 하나도 남지 아니하였더라
그 착각했던 결과거 너무나 참담했던 것을 볼 수 있다. 왜 그랬는가. 그 사람들은 이스라엘 사람들이 홍해를 건널 수 있었던 이유를 몰랐다. 그것을 건너게 하신 하나님이 계시다는 것을 못 본 것이다. 단지 네가 건너가니까 나도 건너갈 수 있다는 생각만 했다. 그런데 그것이 아니었다. 불신자들이 생각하는 이것이 굉장히 중요하다. 불신자는 겉으로 보게되면 신자들과 똑같이 보인다. 그래서 우리 믿는 사람들이 천국 간다고 하면 네가 천국 간다면 나도 간다고 이야기한다. 겉만 보면 똑같아 보인다. 이것 때문에 사람들이 착각을 한다. 그런데 하나님 믿는 사람과 믿지 않는 사람은 하늘 땅 차이가 있다. 놀라운 사랑이 여기 있는 것을 볼 수 있다.
2. 하나님의 크신 사랑
1) 확인할 것
여기서 확인할 것이 있다. 이스라엘 백성들이 홍해를 건너갔는데 그러면 과연 이스라엘 백성들은 믿음이 좋아서 홍해를 건나갔는가 하는 것이다. 그런데 성경을 보면 그게 아니었다. 이스라엘 백성들이 홍해 앞에 섰을 때 애굽 병정들이 몰려왔었다. 이스라엘 백성들은 두려움에 떨기 시작했다. 그 때 이스라엘 백성들이 모세를 향해 이야기했다.
출 14:12 우리가 애굽에서 당신에게 이른 말이 이것이 아니냐 이르기를 우리를 내버려 두라 우리가 애굽 사람을 섬길 것이라 하지 아니하더냐 애굽 사람을 섬기는 것이 광야에서 죽는 것보다 낫겠노라
열가지 재앙을 보고 장자의 재앙을 봤음에도 믿음이 사라져버리고 두려움에 떨었다. 모세에게 대들었다. 이것을 믿음으로 본다면 이스라엘 백성들은 홍해를 건널 자격이 전혀 없었던 사람들이다. 그렇다면 왜 애굽사람은 죽고 이스라엘 백성들은 살았는가. 그 이유가 무엇인가. 유월절 날 양의 피를 발랐느냐 바르지 않았느냐의 차이이다. 이것은 무엇을 의미하는가. 우리가 예수 그리스도의 보혈의 피를 믿느냐 믿지 않느냐에서 죽느냐 사느냐가 결정난다. 유월절 피를 바른 순간에 죽을 수 밖에 없는 그들이었지만 살게되었다. 우리도 죽을 수 밖에 없지만 그 순간에 죽을 자가 살아났다.
롬 8:1 그러므로 이제 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 자에게는 결코 정죄함이 없나니
예수 안에 있으면 결코 죽음이 없고 완전 해방이다. 붙잡으시기 바란다.
2) 놀라우신 은혜
그러면 우리가 여기서 하나님의 놀라우신 사랑을 찾아봐야겠다. 이들은 신앙이 없다고 이야기했다. 이들의 불신앙의 모습이 또 나타난다.
출 14:11 그들이 또 모세에게 이르되 애굽에 매장지가 없어서 당신이 우리를 이끌어 내어 이 광야에서 죽게 하느냐 어찌하여 당신이 우리를 애굽에서 이끌어 내어 우리에게 이같이 하느냐
그런 믿음이 없는 이스라엘 백성들에게 하나님께서는 놀라운 사랑을 베풀어주셨다.
출 14:13-14모세가 백성에게 이르되 너희는 두려워하지 말고 가만히 서서 여호와께서 오늘 너희를 위하여 행하시는 구원을 보라 너희가 오늘 본 애굽 사람을 영원히 다시 보지 아니하리라 여호와께서 너희를 위하여 싸우시리니 너희는 가만히 있을지니라
하나님께서 싸우시니까 너희는 구경만 하라는 말씀이다. 너희를 내가 완전히 보호할테니 구경만 해라 괜찮다 하고 위로의 말씀을 주시는 것이다. 하나님의 놀라우신 사랑이다. 피 하나 발랐다는 이유 하나로. 그 뿐 아니라 여러군데 나타난다. 이스라엘 백성들이 강가에 있는데 애굽병정들이 가까이 달려왔다. 이제 완전 죽었구나 하는 그 순간에 하나님께서 행하신 것이 나타난다. 이스라엘 진 앞에 가던 하나님의 사자가 뒤로 옮기면서 구름기둥을 뒤로 옮겨갔다. 캄캄함이 임하게 만들었다. 군인들이 갑자기 앞을 보지 못하고 헤메기 시작했다. 그런데 이스라엘 백성들은 불기둥을 통해서 홍해 바다를 건너갔다. 뿐만 아니라 홍해 바다를 건너가는데 애굽 병정들이 바다 사이로 쫓아왔다. 다시 구름기둥과 불기둥이 뒤로가서 어지럽게 만들었다. 이스라엘 백성들은 한 명도 죽지 않았다. 왜 그런가. 바로 이스라엘 백성들은 하나님의 백성이었기 때문이다. 다시 말씀드리면 하나님께서 아브라함과 맺은 언약 때문에 이스라엘 백성들을 지켜주셨다. 이스라엘 백성들은 가나안 땅에 가야하니까. 하나님께서는 아브라함과 약속하기를 네 후손들을 내가 데리고 오겠다고 하셨다. 이스라엘 백성들이 죽으면 안되는 것이다. 하나님께서 지켜주시고 하나님께서 역사하셨다. 우리가 언약 속에 있게되면 반드시 지켜주신다. 여기서 하나님의 크신 은혜를 다시 한 번 발견해야겠다.
3. 하나님의 크신 은혜
1) 영적 언약
우리가 영적 언약을 다시 한 번 잡아야겠다. 이 사건 하나하나가 굉장히 큰 영적의미를 갖고있다. 먼저 봐야할 것은 애굽의 군대가 이스라엘 백성들은 쫓아가는데 그냥 쫓아가게 하는 것이 아니라 하나님께서 바로의 마음을 강박하게 하셔서 쫓아갔다는 것이다. 그러면 왜 쫓아가게 하셨는가.
출 14:4 내가 바로의 마음을 완악하게 한즉 바로가 그들의 뒤를 따르리니 내가 그와 그의 온 군대로 말미암아 영광을 얻어 애굽 사람들이 나를 여호와인 줄 알게 하리라 하시매 무리가 그대로 행하니라
하나님께서는 단순히 구원만 시키시는 것이 목적이 아니라 영광을 받으시기 위해서 그렇게 하셨다는 것이다. 그 영광이 무엇인가. 이 애굽 군대를 전부 다 물 속에 수장시키시는 것을 통해서 영광을 받으셨다. 그것이 왜 영광인가. 이것은 영적으로 흑암을 물리치신 것을 나타낸다. 출애굽을 통해서 우리의 모든 흑암을 완전히 꺾으신 것을 나타낸다. 예수님께서 십자가에 오셔서 사단의 세력을 완전히 꺾으신 것을 나타내는 것이다. 이것을 알게하기 위해서 일부러 오게 하셔서 다 멸망시켜 버리셨다.
고전 10:1-2 형제들아 나는 너희가 알지 못하기를 원하지 아니하노니 우리 조상들이 다 구름 아래에 있고 바다 가운데로 지나며 2 모세에게 속하여 다 구름과 바다에서 세례를 받고
홍해에 대한 다른 영적의미를 또 하나 말씀하고 계신다. 이스라엘 백성들이 홍해를 그냥 지나간 것이 아니라 이스라엘 백성들에게 세례를 행한 것이라고 말하고 있다. 이 세례가 무엇인가. 더러운 죄를 씻어내고 새로워지는 것이다. 왜 이렇게 세례를 우리에게 보여주셨는가. 이스라엘 백성들이 지나간 것은 우리가 세례를 받을 때 그리스도와 함께 우리 모든 죄가 죽어버리고 새로운 생명을 얻게되는 것이라는 사실을 보여주신 것이다. 그러면 세번째는 출 14:25 말씀이다.
출 14:25 그들의 병거 바퀴를 벗겨서 달리기가 어렵게 하시니 애굽 사람들이 이르되 이스라엘 앞에서 우리가 도망하자 여호와가 그들을 위하여 싸워 애굽 사람들을 치는도다
이스라엘 백성들을 쫓아가는데 애굽 군대를 구름 기둥과 불기둥이 막으면서 바퀴가 빠지고 하니까 이제야 깨달았다. 애굽 땅에 열가지 재앙을 일으켰던 여호와 하나님이 저들을 위해서 싸우시는구나, 도망가자 하는 것이다. 홍해 길을 가는데 인도자는 바로 하나님이었다는 것을 나타낸다. 우리가 예수 그리스도를 믿을 때 하나님께서 우리를 천국으로 인도하시는 역사가 있다는 것이다. 그러므로 우리 구원은 완벽한 구원이라는 것이다.
2) 영적 권세
그리스도의 왕직, 제사장직, 선지자직은 완벽하신 그리스도의 삼직이다. 그러므로 우리가 그리스도의 권세를 붙잡게 되면 모든 문제가 해결되고 모든 능력이 그 가운데 나타난다. 창 3:15 말씀에 여자의 후손이 뱀의 머리를 상하게 할 것이라고 했다. 무슨 말씀인가. 그리스도께서 오셔서 사단의 머리를 완전히 박살내실 것을 말씀하신다. 요 19:30 말씀에 예수님께서 십자가에 못박혀 돌아가시면서 다 이루셨다고 하셨다. 여자의 후손으로 오셔서 십자가에서 죄 문제를 완전히 죽으심으로서 해결하셨다는 것이다. 영접하면 하나님의 자녀가 되는 권세를 우리에게 주신다. 이 권세가 바로 무엇인가. 예수님을 믿는 자에게 주어진다는 것이다. 우리는 어마어마한 신분과 권세를 갖고있다. 정말 누리시기 바란다. 우리가 교회를 다니는데 응답도 없고 왜 이렇게 힘듭니까. 마가복음에 나타나는 바디매오를 붙잡으시기 바란다. 바디매오가 예수님이 온다는 소리를 듣고 뛰쳐나가 “다윗의 자손 예수여! 나를 불쌍히 여기소서” 하고 소리질렀다. 저는 바디매오를 바라보면서 집중기도 하는데 제일 좋은 기도 제목이 이것이다 하는 생각이 들었다. 예수님께서 즉시 응답하시는 기도가 바로 나를 불쌍히 여겨달라는 기도이다. 성경에 보면 나를 불쌍히 여겨달라는 기도 중에 응답 안하신 것이 하나도 없다. 이 기도로 응답받으시기 바란다. 그 때 예수님께서 내가 네게 무엇을 해주길 원하느냐 하고 물어보신다. 그 때 바디매오가 말한다. 내가 보기를 원합니다. 그 순간에 예수님께서 말씀하셨다. “가라, 네 믿음이 너를 구원하였느니라.” 여기서 중요한 것이 무엇인가. 예수님은 그리스도이시기 때문에 반드시 내 문제가 해결된다는 사실이다. 그 믿음을 갖고 기도한 것이다. 즉시 가라, 네 믿음이 너를 구원하였느니라. 어떤 문제라도 상관없다. 어떤 질병이라도, 어떤 상황이라도 상관없다. 하나님은 살아계신다. 붙잡고 기도하시기 바란다.
요 15:7 너희가 내 안에 거하고 내 말이 너희 안에 거하면 무엇이든지 원하는 대로 구하라 그리하면 이루리라
여러분 기도할 때 이 말씀 언약을 잡고 기도하시기 바란다. 분명히 바디매오의 기도를 들으신 주님께서 지금도 살아계시고 우리 기도를 듣고계신다. 우리가 말씀을 붙잡고 기도하게 되면 반드시 치유되는 놀라운 역사가 나타날 줄로 믿는다.
결론
렘 33:3 너는 내게 부르짖으라 내가 네게 응답하겠고 네가 알지 못하는 크고 은밀한 일을 네게 보이리라
부르짖으시기 바란다. 반드시 응답하시겠다고 약속하고 계신다. 하나님께서 아브라함에게 하신 약속의 말씀 때문에 후손들이 다 살아났다. 하나님께서 약속하신 이 말씀을 붙잡고 기도하게 될 때는 이 말씀 때문에 여러분들이 응답 받을 줄로 믿는다. 응답 뿐 아니라 네가 알지 못하고 크고 은밀한 일까지도 보여줄 것이다. 큰 응답받는 여러분 되시기를 예수님 이름으로 축원한다.
Faith that Enabled Israel to Pass through the Red Sea as by Dry Land (Hebrews 11:29)

“By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.”
Introduction
A woman in Switzerland climbed the Mount Rigi and that is 1,797 meters tall. The mountain was so beautiful that it is called The Queen of Mountains by people. In order to look at the beauty of the mountain, she packed many things so that she can spend a lot of time at the mountain. When someone saw this woman, a man asked if she needed help with her luggage but she became suspicious of the man and gave the man a little bit of her luggage and carried her entire luggage by herself. But midway of the hike, the woman became so exhausted and the man asked the lady again if she needed help with her luggage but she kept resisting his offer and help. But again during the hike, the woman became so exhausted and said that she couldn’t go any further. The man told the woman that he can trust her and so the woman ended up entrusting all of the luggage to the man. With that, the woman was able to hike the rest of the mountain in ease and when she reached the peak, she had a thought, “You foolish child, why can’t you trust people?” What do you think about this? Are you full of doubt and mistrust that you can’t lay anything down? Through the word of God, may you hold onto God’s word once again. In today’s Biblical passage, we can see the faith that pleased God.
1. Faith that Pleases God
1) Faith that enabled Israel to pass through as by dry land
Verse 29 - By faith, they crossed the Red Sea. You may think that walking through the Red Sea was nothing but walking through the sea is not an easy task. When the sea split, the waters that split, the height of those waves were about 200 meters. The location of this split was discovered and it was discovered in Gulf of Aqaba. The length of that crossing is 180 km long and about 1800 meters deep. The scientists discovered at the Gulf of Aqaba, eight wheels of Roman chariots and Roman war helmets. These war equipments were only used by the Romans in the 18th dynasty. When Moses crossed the Red Sea, this shows the proof of that this happened. This was proven that the event the crossing of the Red Sea did happen. This is astounding. This shows that what God did really did happen. 1800 meters is really deep.
Exodus 14:29 “But the children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.” - This was not a dream but it really did happen. The 1800 meter deep sea, this must have been really scary to cross this sea but they were not fearful at all. When God saw this, God was pleased and said that they crossed with faith. If you continue to look at this Biblical scripture, the Egyptians attempted to cross the Red Sea but they failed.
2) The Egyptians' test
Exodus 14:28 “Then the waters returned and covered the chariots, the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them. Not so much as one of them remained.”- What were the Egyptians thinking when they saw the splitting of the Red Sea? They thought that they could also cross the Red Sea when they saw the Israelites crossing it. The fact that they thought they could cross it was their biggest misunderstanding that they had. When they tried to cross it, they were completely swallowed by the Red Sea. Due to their misunderstanding, it led them to a horrible fate. Why did this happen to them? These Egyptians didn’t know the reason why the Israelites were able to cross the Red Sea. In other words, they didn’t know that it was God who was behind the Israelites to allow them to cross the Red Sea. That is why they thought that they could cross the Red Sea too. But that wasn’t it. This is how unbelievers think. When unbelievers look at believers, they think that we are all the same thing. That is why when believers say that they will go to heaven, they say that they can go too. They were becoming ignorant. This is how people are misunderstanding. But we know that there is a vast difference between believers and nonbelievers. We know that there is a great love of God behind this.
2. God's Great Love
1) What to confirm
When Israelites crossed the Red Sea, do you think they were able to cross it because they had good faith? That wasn’t the case.
Exodus 14:12 “Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.” - When they stood before the Red Sea and the Egyptian soldiers were chasing after them the Israelites became afraid. During that time, this was the complaint that they had towards Moses at this time. When they saw the 10 miracles, they had faith but all of that faith disappeared when they stood before the Red Sea. And they were complaining and grumbling against Moses. This shows that they were not qualified to cross the Red Sea at all. Then, why is it that the Israelites were able to cross the Red Sea and the Egyptians were not able to? During the Passover, they applied the blood of the young lamb on their doorpost and the Egyptians did not. This means that when you believe in the blood of Jesus Christ, this determines if you will live or die. The moment they applied the blood of the young lamb, they were supposed to die, they were able to live. We were supposed to die but the moment we accepted and believed in Jesus Christ, we were able to live once again.
Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” - when you are in Jesus Christ, there is no death and we have been freed. Hold onto this. We need to see and discover God’s great love here. From here, the Israelites lacked faith.
2) Amazing grace
Exodus 14:11, 13-14, 19-20, 24 “Then they said to Moses, 'Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? 13 And Moses said to the people, 'Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.' 19 And the Angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them. 20 So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night. 24 Now it came to pass, in the morning watch, that the Lord looked down upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He troubled the army of the Egyptians.” - They were complaining towards Moses in Exodus 14:11. The Israelites lacked faith, God bestowed His great love upon them.
Exodus 14:13-14 - Moses relayed the Word of God to the Israelites at that time. Moses assured the Israelites that they won’t see the Egyptians again and God will fight for them so all they needed to do was remain still. How astounding is this message? God will fight for you so all you need to do is stay still and watch. This was the reassuring message that Moses related to the Israelites. This is the great love of God. This all happened because they put the blood of the young lamb on their door post.
Not only that but the Egyptians were coming closer and closer to them towards the Red Sea. At that exact moment when the Israelites thought they were going to die, God worked in Exodus 14:19. God made it dark and had darkness come upon the Egyptians to the point where they couldn’t see where they were going. At that time, the Israelites were starting to cross the Red Sea by following the light of the fire. When they were crossing the Red Sea, they saw the Egyptian army following them into the Red Sea but God placed fire and wind onto the Egyptian army to the point where no Israelites were touched or harmed. The entire Egyptian army perished. Why did this happen? This was because the Israelites were people of God. In other words, God kept His covenant with the Abraham and as a result God protected the Israelites. The Israelites had to go to the land of Canaan. It was promise with Abraham that God will bring His people to the land of Canaan. The Israelites couldn’t die. God kept His promise so He kept it. When we are inside God’s covenant, then God will absolutely protect us. Many we hold onto God’s covenant once again.
3. God's Great Grace
1) Spiritual covenant
We must hold onto the spiritual covenant. Through this one event of the crossing of the Red Sea, we see a great spiritual meaning behind it. The first thing that we must see is that the Egyptian army was chasing after the Israelites, they weren’t chasing after them just because, it was ordered by Pharaoh. God hardened the heart of the Pharaoh so why did God allow this to happen?
Exodus 14:4, 14 “Then I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, so that he will pursue them; and I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, that the Egyptians may know that I am the Lord. And they did so. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.' ” - God’s goal wasn’t just to save the Israelites but to receive glory. God did all of this so that He can receive glory. What is this glory? He drowned the entire Egyptian army and through this, He received glory. How did he receive glory through this? Spiritually speaking, this was God breaking down the darkness. In other words, through the Exodus, God was completely abolishing the powers of darkness. Through the cross, Jesus Christ completely broke down the powers of Satan. In order to show this and help His people realize this, He completely made the Egyptian army to perish.
1 Corinthians 10:1-2 “Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.”- There was another spiritual meaning behind the Red Sea. When the Israelites were crossing the Red Sea, they were being baptized as they were crossing it. What is baptism? Baptism is cleansing our sins. This how what God was showing through this. When the Israelites crossed the Red Sea, this also shows that when we enter into Jesus Christ, our sins are cleansed and we will receive new life.
Exodus 14:25, 31 “And He took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, 'Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.' 31 Thus Israel saw the great work which the Lord had done in Egypt; so the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord and His servant Moses.” - The third point is seen in this Biblical passage. The Egyptian army saw the clouds and fire over them, they started realizing what was happening to them. They saw God who performed the 10 miracles were fighting for the Israelites at this time as well so they tried to flee. They saw God who was working in Egypt was also working in the Red Sea. When we believe in Jesus Christ, God will guide us and work to guide us to heaven. This shows us that our salvation is complete salvation. The work of Jesus Christ of priest, prophet, and king; these are the complete works of salvation. When we hold onto the work of Jesus Christ, we will receive answers to all things and experience God’s authority and power.
2) Spiritual authority
Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” - This means that when Jesus Christ comes, He will completely break down the power of Satan.
John 19:30 “So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, 'It is finished!' And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” - This is what Jesus confessed when He died on the cross. He came as the offspring of the woman and died on the cross completely. When you accept Him, then you will receive authority to become children of God.
John 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” - This authority is only given to those who accept Jesus Christ. This is the authority given to those who accept Christ. We have been given great authority and status. Enjoy this. We may think that we go to church but life is still difficult and you still have problems. Hold onto what happened to Bartimaeus in Mark 10:47.
Mark 10:47, 51 “And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, 'Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!' 51 So Jesus answered and said to him, 'What do you want Me to do for you?' The blind man said to Him, 'Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.' ” - When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was coming, he cried out to Jesus to have pity on him. When we look at Bartimaeus, we need to see how important concentrated prayer is. How does God answer you right away? Asking God to have mercy and pity on you. May you receive answers to this. Ask God to have mercy on you. When Jesus heard Bartimaeus, Jesus asked what he wanted. Bartimaeus answered that he wanted to see since he was blind. At that moment, Jesus replied that his faith has healed him. The important thing here is that Jesus is the Christ so He can answer any problem. With this kind of faith, we are praying. Then Jesus said, “Go, your faith has saved you.” Receive answers today. It doesn’t matter what problem it is. It doesn’t matter what disease it is. It doesn’t matter what circumstance it is. God is alive. Hold onto this.
John 15:7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” - When you pray, hold onto this covenant and message. Absolutely, the God who answered Bartimaeus has resurrected and is alive, and is with you right now. When we hold onto the word of God and pray, then absolutely works of healing will come upon us. Truly be victorious.
Conclusion
Hold onto Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” - Call out to God. God promised He will absolutely answer you. The promise that God has made to Abraham, it saved the Israelites. When you hold onto the word that God promised us, then answers will absolutely come to us. Not only answers but it said that what is unimaginable to us will be given to us. May you receive great answers in the name of Jesus Christ.
