미리 준비하신 안식(히4:1-3)
서론
브라질 선교사에 헤그레라는 선교사가 있었다. 이 사람이 선교지를 가기 위해서 공항에 도착했다. 그런데 그 도착한 시간이 조금 늦어서 비행기가 출발할 시간이 몇 분 남기지 않았었다. 찾아가서 표를 끊으려고 하니까 늦어서 안된다고 딱 잘라서 거절했다. 좌석은 아직까지 있고 시간도 될 것 같은데 안된다고 하니까 그냥 포기하고 기도하기 위해 일단은 자리에 앉았다. 그런데 의자에 앉자마자 안내방송이 나왔다. 공항에 안개가 많이 쌓여서 비행기가 출발할 수 없어 늦어진다고 광고가 나왔다. 이 순간에 이 선교사님은 ‘아 하나님께서 뭔가 역사하시기 위해서 기이한 방법으로 인도하시는구나’ 하고 깨달았다. 하나님께서 역사하신다는 확신을 갖고 흥분된 마음으로 다시 매표창구로 갔다. 그래서 비행기 탈 시간이 이제 충분하니까 비행기표를 달라고 요구했다. 거절했던 직원이 할 수 없이 비행기 표를 끊어주었다. 비행기 표를 받아서 승강구에 도착했다. 이 승강구에 도착하자마자 어두웠던 안개가 씻은듯이 없어졌다. 그래서 이 분은 즉시 비행기를 타고 선교지로 갈 수 있었다. 놀라운 이야기이다. 하나님께서는 하나님의 일을 하려는 자에게는 희한한 방법으로 역사하신다. 또 하나님께서는 세밀하게 시간까지도 맞추어서 역사하신다. 여기서 붙잡아야할 것은 하나님은 틀림없이 지금도 살아서 역사하실 뿐 아니라 우리의 모든 형편과 처지를 알고계신다. 우리가 이것을 확실히 잡아야겠다. 더군다나 우리 언약잡은 사람들은 이것을 확실히 잡아야할 줄로 믿는다.
1. 안식의 약속
1) 상속자의 축복
히 4:1 그러므로 우리는 두려워할지니 그의 안식에 들어갈 약속이 남아 있을지라도 너희 중에는 혹 이르지 못할 자가 있을까 함이라
이 말씀은 중요한 말씀이다. 출애굽 1세대가 다 멸망을 당하게 되었다. 그러나 20세 이하되는 렘넌트들은 가나안 땅에 들어갈 수 있게 되었다. 그 사람들은 실질적으로 가나안 땅에 들어갔다. 그 상황에서 이야기하는 것이다. 비록 가나안 땅에 들어갔다 할지라도 그것은 안식의 약속이 성취된 것이 아니라는 얘기이다. 모든 성도들에게 하는 말씀이다. 진정한 안식의 성취는 그리스도의 언약을 믿는 자에게 이루어진다는 것을 이야기한다. 우리가 차지할 참 안식이라는 것은 영원한 상속자가 누리는 안식이다. 지난 주간에 어떤 목사님에게 전화를 받았다. 설교한 가운데서 교회에 청함을 받음을 받은 사람은 많지만 택함을 받은 사람은 적다는 말씀을 드린 적이 있었다. 그 이야기 가운데서 그렇다면 내가 청함만 받았는지 택함까지 받았는지 어떻게 아느냐 하고 성도들이 물어본다면 어떻게 대답하겠냐고 물었다. 그래서 다시 한 번 말씀드렸다. 택함 받은 사람들, 즉 하나님의 자녀는 자연적으로 이루어지는 것이 영적 양식, 말씀을 사모하는 마음이 생기는 것이다. 또 자연적으로 예배를 드리고 싶어하고 하나님 만나고 싶어하고 기도를 드리고 싶어한다. 또 뭔지 모르지만 자꾸만 가서 전도를 하고 싶은 마음이 있다. 그 마음이 생기는 그것이 구원받았다는 증거요 택함받은 백성이요 믿음을 가졌다는 증거다. 그렇게 말씀드렸습니다만 오늘 2절을 보면 또 그 답이 나온다.
2) 믿음의 축복
히 4:2 그들과 같이 우리도 복음 전함을 받은 자이나 들은바 그 말씀이 그들에게 유익하지 못한 것은 듣는 자가 믿음과 결부시키지 아니함이라
중요한 핵심을 말씀하고 계시다. 멸망의 원인은 들은 말씀을 믿음과 결부시키지 못한 것이라고 말한다. 믿음과 결부시키지 못했다는 것은 믿음을 삶에 적용시키지 못했다는 것이다. 적용시킨 사람은 천국에 가는 것이다.
마 7:21 나더러 주여 주여 하는 자마다 다 천국에 들어갈 것이 아니요 다만 하늘에 계신 내 아버지의 뜻대로 행하는 자라야 들어가리라
아버지 뜻대로 행한 자가 누구인가. 요 6:40에 나타난다.
요 6:40 내 아버지의 뜻은 아들을 보고 믿는 자마다 영생을 얻는 이것이니—
예수님이 그리스도라는 사실을 믿고 영생을 얻는 것이 하나님의 뜻이다. 아버지의 뜻은 선한 일 하고 착한 일을 하는 것이 아니라 예수님께서 그리스도 되신 사실을 믿는 것이다. 이것을 믿는 순간에 하나님의 성령께서 임재하셔서 그들을 인도하신다.
요 14:26 보혜사 곧 아버지께서 내 이름으로 보내실 성령 그가 너희에게 모든 것을 가르치고 내가 너희에게 말한 모든 것을 생각나게 하리라
구원받은 사람들은 무슨 일이 생길 때 말씀이 생각난다. 말씀을 깨닫게 된다. 이렇게 해서 우리가 성령인도 받을 수 있게 하신다. 이렇게 하심으로서 우리가 성령의 열매를 맺을 수 있게 하신다. 한 번 확인해보시기 바란다. 성령인도 받고 계신가. 성령인도 받으신다면 틀림없이 택한 백성이요 하나님의 자녀인 줄로 믿는다. 여기서 우리가 붙잡아야겠다. 하나님이 우리 안식에 대한 절대 계획을 이루어가시는 과정을 볼 필요가 있다.
2. 안식의 계획
1) 이스라엘의 구원
먼저 이스라엘을 구원하신 과정을 볼 필요가 있다.
출 12:3 너희는 이스라엘 온 회중에게 말하여 이르라 이 달 열흘에 너희 각자가 어린 양을 잡을지니 각 가족대로 그 식구를 위하여 어린 양을 취하되
출애굽할 때 하나님께서 이스라엘 백성들에게 명령하신 내용이다. 이스라엘 모든 회중들이 전부다 짐승을 잡아서 식구를 위하여 문에 발라서 구원을 받는 것을 볼 수 있다.
고전 10:1-2 형제들아 나는 너희가 알지 못하기를 원하지 아니하노니 우리 조상들이 다 구름 아래에 있고 바다 가운데로 지나며 2 모세에게 속하여 다 구름과 바다에서 세례를 받고
이 말씀을 보게되면 이스라엘 모든 백성들이 홍해바다를 건너간다. 홍해바다를 건넌 모든 이스라엘 백성들은 다 세례를 받았다고 말씀하고 있다. 세례를 받았다는 것은 구원을 받았다는 의미를 갖고있다. 그런데 고전 10:5에 이상한 말씀이 나타난다.
고전 10:5 그러나 그들의 다수를 하나님이 기뻐하지 아니하셨으므로 그들이 광야에서 멸망을 받았느니라
다 세례를 받았는데 왜 또 멸망을 받았는가. 많은 사람들이 멸망을 받았다고 기록하고 있다. 그러면 세례받은 구원은 무엇이고 죽었다는 얘긴 무슨 말씀인가. 중요한 것을 잡아야겠다. 이스라엘 백성들이 홍해에서 세례를 받았다는 것이 건너간 개인 개인이 구원을 받았다는 이야기가 아니다. 이것은 무엇을 의미하냐면 이스라엘 백성들이 홍해에서 세례를 받았다는 것은 이스라엘 공동체가 구원을 받았다는 것이다. 모세와 함께 홍해를 지나갔다. 그러면 공동체가 세례를 받은 것이다. 이스라엘이라는 공동체가 세례를 받으면서 다 과거를 죽이는 것이다. 바다에서 나올 때는 광야교회로 새로 거듭났다. 새로운 공동체로서 구원을 받은 것이다. 그래서 출 19:6 말씀에 하나님께서 이스라엘 백성들에게 말씀하신다.
출 19:6 너희가 내게 대하여 제사장 나라가 되며 거룩한 백성이 되리라 너는 이 말을 이스라엘 자손에게 전할지니라
이것은 한 사람 한 사람을 이야기하는 것이 아니라 이스라엘의 공동체에게 절대계획을 선포하시는 내용이다. 이스라엘 광야교회 공동체에게 주시는 말씀이다. 여러분 광야교회에서 보게되면 알곡과 가라지가 있었다. 행 7:38에서 스데반이 광야교회를 이야기했다. 광야교회에 있었던 사람들이라고 하더라도 많은 사람들이 죽음을 당했다. 그 중에서도 구원받은 사람이 있고 받지 못한 사람이 있다. 하나님께서는 먼저 이스라엘 백성들, 공동체를 교회로 세우시고 난 다음에 계속 구원의 메세지를 주셨다.
2) 구원의 복음
히 4:3 이미 믿는 우리들은 저 안식에 들어가는도다—
2세대가 들어갔던 이스라엘 백성 뿐 아니라 지금 남아있는 유대인들 기독교인들까지도 모두가 여기에 해당된다. 하나님께서는 이스라엘 백성들에게 광야교회를 세우시고 난 다음에 현장에서 눈으로 보여주시면서 말씀을 통해서 복음을 받도록 주셨다. 그 보게만드시고 듣도록 만드신 이유가 그 가운데서 그리스도를 발견하라는 것이다. 예를 들면 출 40:38에 구름기둥과 불기둥이 나온다. 이 구름기둥과 불기둥은 이스라엘 백성들이 광야에 출발하기 시작하면서부터 나타났다. 계속 인도하셨다. 그런데 성전을 짓고난 다음에는 상황이 틀려진다.
출 40:38 낮에는 여호와의 구름이 성막 위에 있고 밤에는 불이 그 구름 가운데에 있음을 이스라엘의 온 족속이 그 모든 행진하는 길에서 그들의 눈으로 보았더라
그 때 왔다갔다 했던 구름기둥과 불기둥이 성막을 중심으로 성막 위에서 임재하고 계셨던 것을 볼 수 있다. 그래서 거기 계셔서 예배를 통해서 말씀을 계속 주셨다. 인도하시는데 어디까지 인도하시느냐. 가나안 땅까지 들어가게하셨다. 하나님께서 완벽하게 임재 하시면서 가나안까지 인도하시는 선지자 직분을 감당하시는 것을 보여주셨다. 지금도 하나님께서는 교회를 통해서 주시는 말씀을 통해서 우리를 인도하신다. 영원한 안식인 천국에 들어갈 때 까지 말씀을 통해서 기도를 통해서 인도하신다. 아말렉과의 전쟁에서 일어난 사건에서도 볼 수 있다. 이 전쟁이 났을 때 모세가 두 손을 들고 기도한다. 아론과 훌이 옆에서 도와줘서 마침내 승리하게 된다.
출 17:15-16 모세가 제단을 쌓고 그 이름을 여호와 닛시라 하고 16 이르되 여호와께서 맹세하시기를 여호와가 아말렉과 더불어 대대로 싸우리라 하셨다 하였더라
그 싸움은 모세가 한 것이 아니라 여호수아가 전쟁한 것이 아니라 하나님께서 싸우셔서 이겼다는 말이다. 그리고 16절 말씀에 여호와가 아말렉과 더불어 대대로 싸우리라 하셨다. 한 번 싸워서 이겼으면 됬지 왜 대대로 싸운다고 하는가. 중대한 의미가 있다. 성경에서는 아말렉은 사단으로 보고있다. 하나님의 대적자로 본다. 그래서 하나님께서 사단과 대대로 싸워서 이실 것이라는 말이다. 하나님의 백성들이 고통을 당하고 어려움을 당할 때 마다 예수 그리스도의 이름을 부를 때 마다 흑암의 권세를 완전히 물리치겠다는 것이다. 이 말씀은 지금도 성취되고 있다. 우리고 지금 문제가 생길 때 마다 예수 이름으로 선포하게되면 흑암의 권세, 저주의 권세가 완전히 떠나는 줄로 믿는다. 이미 여호와 닛시, 승리가 선포되었기 때문이다. 승리하신 왕되신 그리스도께서 이름을 부를 때 역사가 나타나는 것이다. 또 민 35:15에 중요한 말씀을 이스라엘 백성들에게 주셨다. 도피성이라는 것을 주셨다.
민 35:15 이 여섯 성읍은 이스라엘 자손과 타국인과 이스라엘 중에 거류하는 자의 도피성이 되리니 부지중에 살인한 모든 자가 그리로 도피할 수 있으리라
잘못해서 사람을 죽여버린 것이다. 그런데 그것을 그냥 당하지 않게 도망갈 수 있는 장소를 허락해주시는 것이다. 누구든지 도피성으로 가기만 하게되면 그를 죽이지 못하는 것이다. 바로 살인자가 들어가도 괜찮다는 것이다. 도피성은 바로 그리스도를 나타낸다. 어떤 죄도 받아들이시는 그리스도를 말한다. 그리스도 안에 들어가기만 하게되면 살인죄도 해결된다는 것이다. 이 복음을 계속 이스라엘 백성들이 들었다. 무엇인가. 광야 뿐 아니라 구약에 나타나는 모든 기적과 이사는 전부다 그리스도를 나타낸다. 그래서 이번에 리더 수련회 때 메세지를 받았다. 우리가 24시 해야할 것이 무엇인가. 영적서밋 해야될 것이 무엇인가. 그것을 잡아야겠다.
3. 나의 24시(영적 서밋)
1) 미리보는 것
영적서밋의 결론으로서 행 1:1, 3, 8 그리스도와 하나님 나라와 성령 충만함을 붙잡으라는 것이다. 왜 그런가. 성경 전체가 이야기하고 있는 것이 그리스도와 나라와 성령 인도하심을 이야기하고 있다. 그것을 잡게되면 모든 문제가 해결될 수 있는 것이다. 어떤 문제든지 해결될 수 있는 답이 거기 있다는 것이다. 그렇다면 어떤 문제가 생겨났을 때 그리스도와 하나님 나라와 성령 충만함을 붙잡으면 문제 해답을 미리 알고 볼 수 있다는 것이다. 그런데 여기서 중요한 메세지를 잡고 넘어가야겠다. 많은 사람들이 이것을 잡고 있지 못하다. 다른 것을 잡고있다. 다른 것이 무엇인가. 지금 여러분들이 생각하고 있는 자체가 24시이다. 지금 항상 생각나는 것이 여러분들의 미래를 결정한다. 항상 근심하고 걱정하는가. 항상 돈이 걱정되는가. 항상 잡생각에 사로잡혀 있는가. 그것이 여러분들의 장래 운명을 결정한다. 그러면 내가 지금 무엇을 24시 잡느냐가 중요하다. 그래서 이야기하는 것이다. 항상 24시 잡아야할 것은 오직 그리스도, 오직 하나님 나라, 오직 성령의 충만한 역사이다. 왜 그런가. 지금 보이지 않는 성삼위 하나님께서는 지금도 역사하고 계시기 때문이다.
마 28:20 내가 너희에게 분부한 모든 것을 가르쳐 지키게 하라 볼지어다 내가 세상 끝날까지 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라 하시니라
왜 항상 함께있는가. 그리스도와 하나님 나라를 성취하기 위해서이다. 응답받으시기 바란다. 그렇기 때문에 우리는 기도의 24시가 되어야겠다. 그러므로 잡생각에 빠지지 말고 근심걱정에 빠지지 말고 24시 기도가 나의 시스템이 되어야겠다. 항상 생각하는 것이 그리스도이고 항상 기도할 때 그리스도가 나타난다면 자연적으로 치유의 역사가 나타날 것이다. 이것은 놓치는 순간만큼 내 삶이 어려움을 당하게 된다.
2) 기도 24시
다윗이 승리한 이유가 무엇인가.
시 23:1 여호와는 나의 목자시니 내게 부족함이 없으리로다. 2 그가 나를 푸른 풀밭에 누이시며 쉴만한 물 가로 인도하시는도다
항상 여호와가 나의 목자시라는 것을 붙잡고 있었다. 물매를 던져서 사자와 곰을 싸워 이겼는데 이것이 골리앗과 전쟁에서 사용될 줄 몰랐다. 이 사자와 곰을 잡던 돌맹이를 통해서 골리앗을 잡으니까 온 세계가 다윗을 칭찬하는 역사가 일어났다. 그러므로 우리가 기도의 24시가 현장에 누려지게 되면 현장이 바뀌어지는 역사가 나타난다. 현장에 역사가 어떻게 나타나는가. 골리앗과 싸울 때 함께하시는 놀라운 능력 때문에 이기게 된 것이다. 사울이 그렇게 핍박하고 다니는데도 임마누엘을 누리면서 다녔던 것이다. 그래서 다윗은 두려워서 도망다닌 것이 아니라 여유를 누리면서 도망다녔다. 뿐만 아니라 다윗이 왕이 되었다. 모든 전쟁에서 다 이기게된다. 이 전쟁에서 한 번도 진 적이 없다. 수많은 은금과 내용물을 갖고 다윗성으로 돌아온다. 그런데 이것이 하나님의 성전을 지을 준비가 되는지 몰랐던 것이다. 그러니까 하나님께서는 전쟁에서 이기게 하시고 틀림없이 다윗이 성전을 지을 것을 알고 많이 베풀어주신 것이다. 모든 것이 합력해서 선을 이루는 역사가 나타났다. 우리는 분명히 잡아야겠다. 그리스도 하나님 나라 성령충만을 꼭 붙잡으시기 바란다. 이것을 붙잡고 24시 기도로 들어가시기 바란다. 아마 렘넌트 일곱명이 누렸던 놀라운 축복들이 여러분들의 축복이 될 줄로 믿는다.
결론
단 10:12 그가 내게 이르되 다니엘아 두려워하지 말라 네가 깨달으려 하여 네 하나님 앞에 스스로 겸비하게 하기로 결심하던 첫날부터 네 말이 응답 받았으므로 내가 네 말로 말미암아 왔느니라
여러분들은 이 핵심의 복음을 붙잡고 기도를 시작하는 순간서부터 하나님께서는 하늘 군대를 동원하여 응답하시는 역사가 나타날 줄로 믿는다. 어떤 문제도 문제가 되지 않을 것이다. 큰 응답받으시는 여러분들 되시기를 예수 그리스도 이름으로 축원한다.
Rest, Already Prepared by God (Hebrews 4:1-3)

“ 1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: 'So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ' Although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. ”
Introduction
There was a missionary in Brazil and in order to do mission work, he arrived at an airport but he arrived late so there wasn’t much time left until departure time. He tried to get his ticket but the airport staff said since he arrived late, he could not get on the airplane. However, the missionary felt like he could make it if he ran but the airport staff wouldn’t let him get the airplane ticket so he gave up and decided to pray to God instead. The moment he tried to sit down at the airport to pray, an announcement was broadcasted saying that this missionary’s plane was delayed because there was so much fog in the air that the plane couldn’t depart and there would be a delay. When the missionary heard this, he realized that God was giving him into a precious opportunity so that God could work. The missionary decided to get the airplane ticket and get on the plane with great assurance. He asked the airport staff if he could get on the plane now since the flight time got delayed so the staff allowed him to get his ticket. He arrived onto the gate of the airplane but the moment that he sat down in his airplane seat, the fog had completely cleared and the plane was able to depart to his mission field immediately. When you do the work of God, God will do anything to allow anything to happen in mysterious ways. God works mysteriously so that He can work accordingly to His perfect time schedule for His work to be complete. Not only is God alive right now and working but He knows everything that is happening currently in our lives. We need to hold onto this firmly. We who have the covenant must hold onto this. We have received an important message today.
1. The Promise of Rest
1) The blessing of the heir
Verse 1 - This is a very important message. The first generation of the Israelites during the Exodus were all destroyed but the second generation, the remnants, were able to enter into the land of Canaan. They were physically able to enter into the land of Canaan and this was the message that was explaining it. Even though they were able to enter into the land of Canaan, it didn’t mean that the covenant was fulfilled. This was the message that God was giving to all believers. The fulfillment of God’s covenant is done through who truly believe in the covenant of Jesus as the Christ. The complete rest is found within those who truly believe and have received salvation. I received a phone call from a pastor and the pastor talked about how a few are chosen and many are called, and asked me how I would respond if one of my church members asks me the difference between those who are chosen and called? I replied to him that those who are called and believed, have complete rest in their hearts. You naturally want to have worship with God and pray to Him, and be with Him. Because you have this heart, you naturally want to share the gospel with others and do evangelism. Having this heart, this is proof that you are saved, a chosen person, and possess faith. I said this but if you look in verse 2, you see the answer as well to this question.
2) The blessing of faith
Verse 2 - There is a very important core message here. What was the reason for destruction? The answer is written in verse 2 - “…But the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.” They did not have faith in God’s Words. The fact that you don’t have faith means that you are not able to apply faith in your life. If you are able to apply faith in your life, then this means that you are saved and you will go to heaven.
Matthew 7:21 (“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”) - Who are those who do the will of God?
Those who do the will of God are those who are able to do what is written in John 14:26 (“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”) - In other words, you are able to believe in the truth that Jesus is the Christ and you can gain this truth in your life. God’s will is not something you gain by what you do or do good deeds but it is gained by believing. The moment you believe, then the Holy Spirit will come inside of you and guide you.
John 14:26 - Those who believe are able to live according to this scripture. Those who believe are able to remember the Word of God when crises or problems arise. You are able to remember God’s Words. You are able to become guided by the Word of God. When you do this, then you can gain the fruits of the Holy Spirit. May you confirm this within your life. Are you guided by the Holy Spirit? If you are guided by the Holy Spirit, then you are chosen and called by God.
2. The Plan of Rest
1) Salvation of Israel
What you must understand is that there is God’s plan for us to receive complete rest. In order to discover this, we need to look at the Israelites’ journey and process from receiving liberation from slavery and Egypt.
Exodus 12:3 (“Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household.' ”) - When the Israelites went through the Exodus, this was the Word that God gave to the Israelites. All of the Israelites sacrificed a lamb and put the blood of the young lamb on their doorpost, and because of this act, they were all saved.
1 Corinthians 10:1-2, 5 (“Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.”) - This is an important message. When you look at this scripture, all of the Israelites were able to cross the Red Sea and as the Israelites were crossing the Red Sea, they were being baptized. The fact that you are baptized means that you have gained salvation.
1 Corinthians 10:5 - There is an interesting and strange thing that was written here in this scripture. Even though they were all baptized, why did they still face destruction in the end? It was recorded that they faced destruction. Does that mean that even if you are baptized, you do not become saved? What does this mean? You have to understand something important here. The fact that they were being baptized means that they were not guaranteed of salvation. What does this mean? The Israelites being baptized was indicating that not every individual Israelite was being baptized but the nation of Israelites was being baptized and saved by the mercy of God. As they were crossing the Red Sea, the nation of the Israelites were being baptized by God. This means that their past had died and they became a new creation as they were crossing the Red Sea as a nation.
Exodus 19:6 (“And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”) - This was not referring to each individually personally but was referring to the nation as a whole. In other words, the Word of God was given to the entire assembly of Israel, the nation and as a church in the wilderness. Within the church in the wilderness, there were grains and tares.
Acts 7:38 (“This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, the one who received the living oracles to give to us.”) - Stephen speaks about the church in the wilderness. Even though many people were part of the assembly of the church in the wilderness, many of them experienced death in the end. This means that there were people who were saved and those who were not.
2) The gospel of salvation
Through the Israelites, God raised up the church of the wilderness and continued to give them the covenant and message of salvation. Verse 3 - Not only were the Israelites given liberation and salvation but the Jews as well. God continued to allow them to receive the gospel constantly by giving His Word in the field and by performing miracles. He allowed them to hear and see the Word of God so that they could discover and see Jesus Christ.
For an example, it is written in Exodus 40:38 (“For the cloud of the Lord was above the tabernacle by day, and fire was over it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.”) - The cloud was given to the Israelites to guide them throughout the wilderness. After they built the tabernacle, things started changing. The cloud that was guiding and shielding the Israelites was following wherever the tabernacle was going and being moved to. Through worship, God continued to give His word. God continued to guide them all the way to the land of Canaan. God continued to guide them completely and perfectly, this was what God was showing. Even now, through the church, God is proclaiming His Word and guiding us. Until we are able to have complete rest in heaven, God will continue to guide us with His Word as our true Prophet.
Exodus 17:15-16 (“And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-Lord-Is-My-Banner; 16 for he said, 'Because the Lord has sworn: the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.' ”) - As they were in war, Moses was praying. And with the help of Aaron and Hur, Moses was able to continue to pray to God. This fight was not done through Moses but God fought for them and won. Exodus 17:16 - God could’ve won just once but why did He have to fight for us from generation to generation? The Amalek is the symbol of Satan. Satan is the enemy of God. God will continue to win against Satan and will always win. Whenever God’s children are having a hard time, whoever calls upon His name, God will fight for them and gain us victory. This message is being fulfilled even now. Whenever we face problems, if we proclaim the name of Jesus Christ, the darkness will absolutely flee and be broken down. This is because Jehovah Nissi is being proclaimed. The victorious King, when we call upon Him, then God will fight for us and win for us.
Numbers 35:15 (“These six cities shall be for refuge for the children of Israel, for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them, that anyone who kills a person accidentally may flee there.”) - God promised that He will not reprimand even murderers who have killed someone and will allow them to flee to these cities of refuge. Those who enter into these refuge cities, they will be safe. It says here that even murderers will be able to enter into these refugee cities. What are these refuge cities referring to? These are referring to Jesus Christ. Anyone who enters into Jesus Christ, God will forgive their sins and they will be forgiven. Even if you commit a grave sin like murder, if you enter into Jesus Christ, then you will be forgiven. This was the message that was given to the Israelites constantly, to enter into Jesus Christ. All of the miracles and works that took part in the Old Testament and during the time in the wilderness were to show proof of the coming of Christ.
3. Your 24 Hours (Spiritual Summit)
1) To see ahead of time
In the World Remnant Conference leader’s message, it talked about 24 hours. What must we do 24 hours for? What does it mean to be a spiritual summit? We must hold onto this We need to hold onto Acts 1:1, 3, and 8. We need to hold onto Jesus Christ, the kingdom of God, and the working of the Holy Spirit. Why is that? The entire Bible speaks about Jesus Christ, the kingdom of God, and the working of the Holy Spirit. If we are able to find this, then we can find the answer to all of our problems, no matter what problems come, the answer will always be revealed. No matter what problems come, if you hold onto Jesus Christ, the kingdom of God, and the Holy Spirit then there will always be an answer. There is an important message here. A lot of people are not able to hold onto this and lose hold of it. This is because they are holding onto other things and something else. What are you constantly thinking about? That is your 24 hours. What are you always thinking about? That will determine your future. Do you always have worries? Do you always have worries about money? Do you have unnecessary thoughts? This will determine your fate. Then what must you hold onto as your 24 hours is so important. That is why I am telling you, the 24 hours that we must hold onto is Jesus Christ alone. It is always the kingdom of God. Always the filling of the Holy Spirit. Why is that? It is because the triune God who we cannot see with our physical eyes is always with us and working.
Matthew 28:20 (“Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.”) - This was what God promised us. Why did God promise that He will be with us? So that God’s kingdom can be fulfilled through you. May you receive answers. Then you must have 24-hour prayer.
2) 24-hour prayer
In order to not enter into unnecessary thoughts and worries, you need to enter into 24-hour prayer. If you are able to constantly remember and enter into Christ, then you will naturally receive healing. The moment you lose hold of this, then you will absolutely face difficulties in your life.
Why was King David able to be victorious? He was able to confess of Psalm 23:1 (“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul.”) - He always held onto the fact that God was his shepherd so he lived a life where he didn’t feel lacking in anything. This was because he always had thanksgiving and gratitude within his heart through prayer. He always connected everything to prayer within his life and therefore, was able to experience God working in every aspect of his life. That is why God gave him strength to fight against lions and bears. Not only was he able to win against bears and lions by just throwing a stone but he never imagined that this would defeat Goliath. By simply throwing stones, he was able to defeat Goliath and through this, all people were able to acknowledge and praise David. If you are able to enjoy 24-hour prayer in your field, then changes will happen in your field.
How can this be put into practice within our field? David was able to win against Goliath because he had a different source of power. Even though David was constantly being persecuted and chased after King Saul, he was able to enjoy Immanuel wherever he went. David didn’t run away with fear but he was running away with leisure.
Not only that but David was able to become king. When he became king, he was victorious in every battle and never lost a battle. As he was winning in battles, he also won many possessions through his battles. He collected all of the possessions without knowing through those battles which helped prepare for the construction of God’s temple. That is why God allowed King David to win in battles and God knew that David would build a temple for Him through those won possessions. Everything was planned perfectly for David. There is something that you must hold onto here. You must hold onto Jesus Christ, the kingdom of God, and the working of the Holy Spirit. If you hold onto this and enter into 24-hour prayer, then the answers and blessings that came to the 7 remnants will come to you.
Conclusion
Hold onto Daniel 10:12 (“Then he said to me, 'Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.' ”) - When you hold onto this content while praying then God will work by opening the doors of heaven. No matter what problems come, no problems will become a problem for you. May you receive tremendous answers in the name of Jesus Christ.
