“기쁨의 구원의 우물"

“1 그 날에 네가 말하기를 여호와여 주께서 전에는 내게 노하셨사오나 이제는 주의 진노가 돌아섰고 또 주께서 나를 안위하시오니 내가 주께 감사하겠나이다 할 것이니라
2 보라 하나님은 나의 구원이시라 내가 신뢰하고 두려움이 없으리니 주 여호와는 나의 힘이시며 나의 노래시며 나의 구원이심이라
3 그러므로 너희가 기쁨으로 구원의 우물들에서 물을 길으리로다
4 그 날에 너희가 또 말하기를 여호와께 감사하라 그의 이름을 부르며 그의 행하심을 만국 중에 선포하며 그의 이름이 높다 하라
5 여호와를 찬송할 것은 극히 아름다운 일을 하셨음이니 이를 온 땅에 알게 할지어다
6 시온의 주민아 소리 높여 부르라 이스라엘의 거룩하신 이가 너희 중에서 크심이니라 할 것이니라.”

서론
지난주 1부 예배에서 귀한 메시지를 받았다. 아침에 일어날때 가장 먼저 떠오르는것이 무엇인가 - 그것이 나의 미래가 될것이다. 저는 이 말씀 받고 심각하게 생각해 보았다. 이 말씀을 저는 하나님의 음성으로 받았다. 눈을 떴을때 제일먼저 고민거리가 나오거나 머리가 복잡하다 하는것은 앞으로 미래가 그렇게 될 가능성이 크다 생각된다. 저는 생각해 보니 자기 전에 항상 역대상 29:11-13 말씀을 외우고 잠에 든다. 그리고 아침에 일어나자 마자 눈을 딱 뜨는순간 마찬가지로 역대상 29:11-13 을 외운다. 이것을 몇년 동안 해오고 있는데 가끔가다 그냥 벌떡 일어날때도 있다. 이 말씀을 들으면서 내가 암송 하지 않고 그냥 일어날때는 스스로 그냥 생각 없이 하루를 보내려고 한것이 아닌가 생각해본다. 그런데 만일 눈을 떴을때 보좌의 기도가 입에서 나온다? 엄청난 축복이 있을것이다. 보좌의 영광이 틀림없이 임하게 될것이다. 여러분 자신을 한번 점검해 보시라. 아침에 기상할때 무슨 생각이 가장 먼저 나시나. 만일 여태까지 아무것도 하지 않았다면 기도 하시기를 바란다. ‘주여, 오늘도 하늘의 보좌의 능력을 누리는 하루 되게 해주소서’ 이런 기도 드리며 하루 시작 하시기를 바란다. 이렇게 하루를 주님께 기도로 드리며 시작 할때 큰 축복의 역사가 분명히 있을줄 믿는다.
1. 구원의 하나님을 찬양하라 Praise the God of salvation
1) 하나님의 남은자 사랑 God's love for those who remain
사 Isaiah 11:16, 12:1, 6:9, 10:22
오늘 메시지 아주 중요한 메시지다. 짧게 6절로 되어 있지만 아주 중요한 말씀이다. 1절에 보면, “그 날에 네가 말하기를 여호와여 주께서 전에는 내게 노하셨사오나 이제는 주의 진노가 돌아섰고 또 주께서 나를 안위하시오니 내가 주께 감사하겠나이다 할 것이니라” 하고 말씀 하고 있다. 이 말씀은 지금 이사야 선지자가 ‘앞으로 포로에서 돌아오게 될때 너희들이 이러한 고백을 할것이다’ 라고 미리 이야기 하는 모습이다. 그것에 동참해서 같이 돌아오는 사람들은 큰 기쁨을 가지고 돌아오게 될것이다 하고 말씀 하는것이다. 우리가 이사야서를 보며 항상 생각하는 것이 있다. 지금까지 우리가 보았듯이 이사야서는 계속해서 이스라엘이 앗수르와 바벨론 통해 멸망 당할것과 포로되어 비참한 생활을 하게 될것이다 경고의 말씀을 하는것이 나와있다. 그런데 한가지 잡을것은, 이사야 6:9 에 “여호와께서 이르시되 가서 이 백성에게 이르기를 너희가 듣기는 들어도 깨닫지 못할 것이요 보기는 보아도 알지 못하리라 하여” 미리 하신 말씀이다. 이상한 말씀이다, 말씀을 이사야가 전한다고 해도 못 깨닫지 못하고 봐도 알지도 못해 소용 없을거라는 말씀 하시는것이다. 그런 말씀을 하시면서 여전히 이사야를 통해 말씀을 전하게 하시는 모습이다. 어떻게 보면 쓸데없는 말을 이사야에게 하시는 이유가 뭔가 이것이다. 하나님의 뜻이 거기에 있는것이다. 이사야서 10:22에 말씀 하신다, “이스라엘이여 네 백성이 바다의 모래 같을지라도 남은 자만 돌아오리니 넘치는 공의로 파멸이 작정되었음이라.” 다 멸망 당할지라도 그 가운데 틀림없이 남은자가 있을것 이고 그들이 돌아오게 될것임으로 그들을 위해 너는 복음을 전해야 한다 하시는것이다. 성경을 보게 되면 항상 남은자 중심으로 주님께서 모든 관심을 두신다는 사실 꼭 붙잡아야한다. 이것은 성경을 통해 발견할수 있는 사실이다. 이사야가 아무도 듣지 않고 오히려 타락으로 가는 이스라엘 백성을 향해 계속 말씀을 전하게 하신것의 결과로 다니엘이나 에스겔 같은 사람들이 포로로 잡혀갔음에도 불구하고 말씀을 붙잡게 된것이다. 그들이 어떻게 그러한 내용을 알고 있고 또 그것을 믿는 믿음이 어디서 생겼나 하는것이다. 말씀을 증거해도 아무도 듣지 않고 모두 타락으로 빠지는것 같이 보이나 그 중에서 듣는 자들이 있었다는것이다. 놀라운 사실이다. 포로로 잡힌 사람들 가운데 믿음을 가진 사람들을 통해 그의 후손들이 믿음을 소유하게 되는데 그중 대표적 인물이 에스라 라는 유명한 제사장 되는 사람이다. 에스라서 를 쓴 그 에스라 제사장이 바로 거기서 복음을 들은것이다.
2) 남은자의 믿음 The faith of those who remain

이사야가 그냥 아무도 없는데서 복음을 전한것 같이 보였는데 알고보니 거기서 듣는 사람이 있어 복음의 씨앗이 심기고 전달된 것이다. 그래서 그걸 보며 이사야는 2절에 외친다, “보라 하나님은 나의 구원이시라”. 이것은 지금 자기가 증거하는 말씀을 믿는 사람들에게 확실한 증거가 있다 외치는 말이다. 그러면서 하나님은 나의 구원이시라! 선포 하는것이다. 남은자 들은 그 말씀 듣는 가운데 확신을 가지게 되는것이다. 여러분, 확신은 믿음의 결과 이다. 확신 가지는 사람은 어떤 마음이 생기나, 내가 신뢰하며 두려움이 없으리로다 하는 마음이 생긴다. 이러한 사람은 어떤 상황을 만나도 두려움이 없는것이다. 확신을 가진 다니엘과 세친구 같은 사람들은 포로로 잡혀가 느부갓네살 왕 앞에 설때에도 전혀 두려워 하지 않았다. 유황불에 던져질것 이라 해도 두려워 하지 않았다. 하나님께서 우리를 건져줄 것이다 그렇지 아니할지라도 나는 우상숭배 하지 않겠다, 이 정도의 믿음을 가진것이다. 이사야의 선포는 거기서 끝나지 않고 남은자를 위해 하나님의 언약을 계속해서 선포 하는것을 볼수가 있다. “나의 힘이시며 나의 노래 이시며 나의 구원 이십니다” 하고 계속 선포 한것이다. 이 말씀은 이사야가 그냥 단순히 뱉은 말이 아니라 출애굽기 15:2 말씀을 인용해서 남은자들에게 선포 하는 말이다. 이 말씀의 배경은 모세가 출애굽 한뒤 홍해를 건너며 어마어마한 사건을 현장에서 확인한뒤에 하나님께 드린 찬송의 말씀이다. 출애굽 할때 홍해가 갈라지는 가운데 애굽 군대가 완전히 파멸되는 모습을 두눈으로 확인했다. 그때 모세가 너무 기뻐 여호와는 나의 힘 이시며 나의 노래 이시며 나의 구원이십니다 하며 찬양한 말이다. 왜 이사야가 이러한 이야기 하나. 너희들도 이러한 똑같은 축복을 받게 될것이라 확신으로 선포한것이다. 하나님이 반드시 너희들을 구원시켜 줄것이다 하는것이다. 그러면서 하시는 말씀이 3절에 나와있다, “그러므로 너희가 기쁨으로 구원의 우물들에서 물을 길으리로다.” 여러분, 민 20:11 말씀 보면 이스라엘 백성들이 광야에서 므리바 반석에서 물을 얻는 기적을 체험하는 내용이 나타나고있다. 광야에 들어섰는데 마실 물이 없는것이다. 때문에 백성들이 모세를 보며 원망했다. 그때에 하나님께서 모세에게 명령 하시는것이다, 반석을 쳐라. 모세가 조금 화난 상태였지만 순종하며 반석을 쳤다. 그러자 마자 반석이 둘로 갈라지며 그곳에서 물이 콸콸 솟아나온것이다. 여기서 300만명이나 되는 어마어마한 사람들과 수십만 마리나 되는 가축들이 그 물을 38년 동안이나 먹고 살게된다. 이스라엘 백성들은 이것을 잊지 못하는것이다. 그래서 자기들을 구원 시켜준 이것을 기념하며 매년 초막절에 그 날의 은혜를 기념하게 된다. 레위기 23:34에 초막절에 대해 설명한다. 초막절은 수장절 이라고도 불리우며 가장 큰 절기로 알려져있다. 초막절이 왜 큰 절기 이냐면, 7월1일, 7월의 첫쨋날에는 나팔절로 섬긴다. 그것은 하나님의 구원을 선포 하시는것이다. ‘너희들을 구원하겠다’ 선포 하는 나팔이다. 그리고 열흘 뒤인 7/10일 에는 대속죄일이 있다. 구원받지 못한 이스라엘 백성들이 피를 통해 구원 받았던것 처럼 그리스도의 피를 통해 구원 받을것 이라는 것을 아사셀 염소를 잡아 제사를 드림으로 기념하는 대속죄일 이다. 7/15 부터는 일주일 동안 초막절을 지내는데 구원받은 사람들이 이제는 나그네 생활을 한다 하는 의미로 초막을 지어 기념하는것 이다. 이것은 우리에게 중요한 의미가 있다. 실질적으로 이스라엘 백성들은 광야에 초막을 지어 일주일 동안 살았다. 이것은 너희들이 옛날에 광야에 이렇게 살았다 하는 의미와 원래 너희들의 인생은 나그네 같은 인생이다 하는 의미가 있는것이다.
2. 구원의 물을 마셔라 Drink the water of salvation
1) 실로암 우물의 응답 The answer of the well of Siloam

초막절 마지막날 제 8일째 하루 더하는 행사가 있다. 마지막 날에는 성전 앞뜰에 많은 백성들과 제사장들 까지 모인다. 모든 제사장들은 흰 옷을 입고 황금으로 된 주전자를 든채 예루살렘 성전에서 실로암 까지 걸어간다. 그냥 걸어가는것이 아니라 찬송을 부르면서 가는데 그 찬송의 내용이 이사야서 12장이다. 12:3절 말씀을 특별히 집중적으로 부르면서 주전자를 들고 걸어간다. 실로암에 도착하면 제사장들은 가지고 온 황금 주전자에 물을 담아 12장 3절 노래를 부르며 다시 성전으로 가게된다. 그렇게 도착해서 시편 118:25 말씀을 부르면서 놋제단에 물을 뿌린다. “우리를 구원하옵소서, 형통케 하옵소서” 노래 부르며 물을 붓는것이다. 그 물을 놋재단에 붓는 행위를 ‘전제’ 라고 한다. 여러 제사 중에 하나가 전제이다. 전제는 물과 포도주를 놋제단에 뿌리는 행위이다. 놋제단을 보면 은으로 된 그릇 두개가 양쪽에 붙어있다. 그 그릇에 구멍이 나서 파이프로 밑으로 연결되어 있는데 거기에 붓는것이다. 한쪽에는 물을 또 다른 한쪽에는 포도주를 붓게 되어있다. 희생제물을 드렸던 놋제단에 물과 포도주가 담기는것이다. 이것은 과연 무엇을 의미 하고 있는가. 예수님께서 십자가에서 쏱으실 물과 피를 상징 하는것이다. 이스라엘 백성들은 제사를 드리면서도 그들이 붓는것이 무슨 의미인지도 몰랐다. 단지 우리를 구원하소서 형통케 하소서 외치면서, 므리바 반석에서 물을 주신것처럼 우리에게도 풍성한 물을 주셔서 내년에도 농사가 잘 되게 하옵소서 기원하는 마음으로 물을 부었다. 사실 전제는 그것이 아니라 예수님의 죽으심에 대해 얘기 하는것이다. 그들이 초막절 행사 하는것을 보고 예수님께서 그 현장에 나타나신것이다. 그들이 물을 부우며 내년에도 비를 많이 내리셔서 풍성하게 되도록 해주옵소서 하는 모습을 보며 예수님께서 거기서 외치신다, “명절 끝날 곧 큰 날에 예수께서 서서 외쳐 이르시되 누구든지 목마르거든 내게로 와서 마시라 나를 믿는 자는 성경에 이름과 같이 그 배에서 생수의 강이 흘러나오리라 하시니.” 그들이 물을 붓는것을 보며 예수님이 큰 소리로 외치셨다, 너희들이 전제로 드리는 물이 바로 나를 의미한다. 널 위해서 흘릴 나의 피와 물을 의미 하는것이다 하시며 예수님께서 선포 하시는것이다. 그들은 이 복음을 가지고 행하면서도 그 의미가 무엇인지 모른채 신앙생활 하는것이다. 지금도 많은 사람들이 예수님 예수님 하시면서 어떻게 신앙생활 해야 하는지 제대로 알지 못하고있다. 잘 먹었으면 좋겠습니다, 물을 풍성하게 주세요, 고작 이게 기도제목이다.
2) 실로암 물의 의미 The meaning of the water of Siloam

그러면 우리가 여기서 실로암의 물의 의미를 제대로 붙잡아야겠다. 예수님께서 말씀 하시기를, “나를 믿는 자는 성경에 이름과 같이 그 배에서 생수의 강이 흘러나오리라 하시니” (요7:38) 하셨다. 그때에 요 7:39 말씀 보면, “이는 그를 믿는 자들이 받을 성령을 가리켜 말씀하신 것이라” 이라고 되어있다. 나를 믿는자에게는 성령이 임하고 영생의 축복이 임하게 될것이다 하시는것이다. 우리가 물의 의미를 잘 붙잡아야겠다. 그런데 요 3:3 말씀 보면, “예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 진실로 진실로 네게 이르노니 사람이 거듭나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라를 볼 수 없느니라,” 라고 되어있다. 니고데모에게 영생의 비밀을 말씀 하신것이다. 여기서 나오는 “사람이 물과 성령으로 나지 아니하면 하나님 나라 들어갈수 없다” 하신 말씀에 언급된 물은 무엇을 의미하나. 물은 말씀을 나타낸다. 말씀이 어찌 물을 나타내나. 말씀은 우리 죄를 깨닫게 한다. 말씀을 통해서 다시한번 우리의 영적인 눈이 뜨이게 된다. 그렇게 예수님을 영접하게 되고 새로운 피조물이 될수 있는것이다. 그렇게 물과 성령은 뗄레야 뗄수 없는 관계이다. 요한복음 5:39, “너희가 성경에서 영생을 얻는 줄 생각하고 성경을 연구하거니와 이 성경이 곧 내게 대하여 증언하는 것이니라.” 여기서 예수님께서 말씀하시는 성경은 구약 성경이다. 여기에 영생의 비밀이 들어있다 이 말이다. 구약 성경을 보며 우리의 더러운 죄를 발견할수 있고 그것을 씻을수 있는 방법 또한 알수있다. 그래서 거기에 기록된대로 희생제물을 드리는것이다. 그래서 예수님께서는 말씀 하신것이다, “이 성경이 곧 내게 대하여 증언하는 것이니라.” 요한복음 6:63에 이어서 나온다, “살리는 것은 영이니 육은 무익하니라 내가 너희에게 이른 말은 영이요 생명이라.” 예수님께서 말씀 하신다, 이 말이 너희를 살리는 영 이라는것 이다. 이렇게 말씀이 얼마나 귀중한지 모른다. 여러분이 말씀 묵상 하는것이 얼마나 중요한지 모른다. 말씀 묵상하는 순간에 영으로 역사 하는것이다. 흑암이 무너지고 죄를 깨닫게 되며 우리를 살리는 생명이 되는것이다.
3. 만국 중에 선포하라 Proclaim among the nations
1) 극히 아름다운 일 Excellent things
사 Isaiah 12:5
사도행전 10:44에 “베드로가 이 말을 할 때에 성령이 말씀 듣는 모든 사람에게 내려오시니.” 라고 되어있다. 이것이 말씀의 능력이다. 말씀을 묵상하는 순간에 성령이 물붓듯이 여러분에게 임할줄 믿는다. 여러분들이 보좌의 축복 놓고 간절히 말씀을 묵상하며 기도 할때 보좌의 능력이 성령을 통하여 풍성하게 내려질줄을 믿는다. 제가 말씀 하는 이 순간에도 성령께서 여러분께 풍성히 임하시는 순간이다. 말씀 붙잡고 누리는 순간에 어마어마한 역사가 실제로 나타난다. 지난주에 이야기 한것처럼 말씀을 성취될 나의 말씀을 받아들이는 순간에 어마어마한 빛의 광채를 내가 받아들이는것이다. 5절에 이야기 하고 있다, “여호와를 찬송할 것은 극히 아름다운 일을 하셨음이니 이를 온 땅에 알게 할지어다.” 우리는 항상 여호와를 찬송 해야한다. 찬송 할수밖에 없다. 우리는 구원을 알기 때문이다. 아름다운 일를 찬송 하는것이다. 그것이 바로 구원사역을 나타낸다. 이사야서에 예언된 구원사역이 세가지가 있다. 왕하 19:35에 나타남과 마찬가지로 앗수르 군사, 산헤립 (Sennacherib) 왕의 공격으로 부터 하나님께서 완전히 너를 지켜주실것이다 하는 예언의 말씀을 하셨다. 이 말씀이 바로 그 아름다운 일을 말하는것이다. 앗수르가 유대왕국을 다 덮을것처럼 보이지만 하나님께서 나타나셔서 역사하심으로 너희를 지켜주실것이다 이 말이다. 실제로 이러한 일어났다. 두번째 말씀은 바벨론 70년의 포로생활이 있을것 이라는 사실이다. 하나님께서는 반드시 바벨론 포로된것 부터 돌이켜 해방 시켜 주실것이다 하는것이다. 오늘 말씀과 같이 큰 기쁨이 너희에게 있을것이다, 그 일이 실질적으로 일어났다. 그런데 성경에 또 한가지 있다. 그것들은 다 그림자에 지나지 않는다 하는것이다. 이 지구상에 가장 큰 기쁨이 있게 될것이다 하는것이다. 그것이 바로 하나님께서 그리스도를 통해 인간을 구원시키는 일이 있을것이다 하는것이다. 인간의 근본적 문제, 진짜 문제가 뭔가. 하나님을 떠난것이 근본 문제이다. 그래서 우리가 저주와 재앙 가운데 사는것이다. 우리 죄 때문에 지옥 갈수밖에 없는것이다. 이 땅에서 고통 받는것은 문제가 아니라는것이다. 지옥은 말 할수 없는 진짜 고통 이다. 여기서 건져내는것, 여기서 해방 되는것이 가장 중요한것 이다. 사단의 죄악과 권세, 종노릇됨 가운데서 해방 시켜 주시는것이다. 이것이 우리 인간에게 일어난 가장 아름다운 일 이다. 여러분 이것을 믿으시는가. 무엇보다 천국 가는것 만큼 귀중한것이 없을것 이다. 누구나 지옥 갈수밖에 없다. 내가 비록 핍박받아 죽음을 당한다 하여도 결국엔 천국에 갈것이라는 사실이다. 거부로 살다가 죽어 지옥 가는것 보다 비록 사는동안 어려움 당할지라도 마지막에 천국 가는것, 이것이 비교 할수 없는 축복 이라는 말이다. 우리는 그 은혜에 감사 하여야 한다. 항상 이것을 생각하며 영광 돌리는 삶을 살아야 한다. 왜 천국에서는 항상 거룩하다 거룩하다 하며 감사 드리나. 직접 가 보면 그 이유를 알것이다. 조금 있으면 우리가 갈때가 된다. 그 날을 기대 하시기를 바란다.
2) 3가지 기도 Three prayers
플랫폼 기도(눅2:9) Platform prayer (Luke 2:9)
파수망대 기도(눅2:10) Watchtower prayer (Luke 2:10)
안테나 기도(눅2:14) Antenna prayer (Luke 2:14)
이번에 또 메시지 받았다. 이를 위해 우리가 세가지를 기도해겠다. 먼저 플렛폼의 기도 해야한다. 보좌의 능력 놓고 감사하며 기도하시기를 바란다. 보좌되시는 하나님의 영광이 여러분에게 나타나게 될줄을 믿는다. 말씀 잡고 기도하게 되면, 말씀 자체에 성령이 역사할 뿐만 아니라 기도를 통해 한마디도 빠짐 없이 다 이루어 주신다. 이미 기도하기 전에도 나의 것이 되는것이다. 누가복음 2:9 통해 말씀 하셨다, “주의 사자가 곁에 서고 주의 영광이 그들을 두루 비추매 크게 무서워하는지라”. 주의 사자인 천사가 나타날때 하나님의 영광을 가지고 목동들을 비추었다. 그러한 축복이 우리에게 임하는것이다. 두번째는 파수망대의 기도이다. 파수망대는 지켜보는곳이다. 우리 앞에 보이는 모든것 마다 기도 제목으로 바꾸는것이다. 분명한 것은 모든것에 하나님의 계획이 있다는 사실이다. 그것이 좋은 일 이든 나쁜일 이든 다 하나님이 우리에게 주신 기도제목이다. 누가복음 2:10이다, “무서워하지 말라 보라 내가 온 백성에게 미칠 큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식을 너희에게 전하노라”. 우리가 현장을 바라보며 그리스도 영광 가지고 기도할때 아름다운 일이 분명히 나타나게 될줄을 믿는다. 마지막으로 안테나의 기도이다. 눅2:14, “ 지극히 높은 곳에서는 하나님께 영광이요 땅에서는 하나님이 기뻐하신 사람들 중에 평화로다 하니라.” 천사들은 생각지도 못한 목자들 앞에 나타났다. 그들이 천사를 만나 축복 받을줄은 아무도 몰랐다. 그들이 받은 축복의 원인은 그들이 잠자지 않고 밤새 양을 쳤던것에 있다. 그런 그들에게 빛이 임했다. 무슨 말인가, 끝없이 기도하는 자들에게 하나님께서는 영광의 빛을 비추신다는것이다. 여러분, 집중기도 하시기를 바란다. 지금 이 보좌의 축복 놓고 기도 계속 하고 계신다. 작정 하시고 하나님의 크신 은혜와 영광을 체험 할때까지 지속 하겠다 결단하시기 바란다. 얼마 있지 않아 주의 큰 영광의 빛이 여러분에게 임하게 될줄을 믿는다. 하나님은 우리의 기도를 한마디도 빠지지 않고 지금도 듣고 계신다. 분명한것은 하나님은 우리의 기도에 반드시 응답하신다. 우리가 선한 뜻을 가지고 기도한다면 반드시 응답 하실것이다. 기도 하시기를 바란다. 큰 응답이 일어날줄을 믿는다.

말씀 맺겠다. 이사야서 43:19의 응답 받으시라, “보라 내가 새 일을 행하리니 이제 나타낼 것이라 너희가 그것을 알지 못하겠느냐 반드시 내가 광야에 길을 사막에 강을 내리니.” 하나님께서 우리에게 영성훈련 하도록 시키신 이유는 새 일을 행하시기 위해서 라고 믿는다. 주님께서는 말씀 하신다, “이제 나타낼것이다”. 반드시 광야에 길을, 사막에 강을 낼것이라 말씀 하셨다. 이 축복의 역사가 여러분 삶에 임하게 될줄을 믿는다.
Joy from the Wells of Salvation (Isaiah 12:1-6)

“1 And in that day you will say: 'O Lord, I will praise You; Though You were angry with me, Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me. 2 Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; 'For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.' 3 Therefore with joy you will draw water From the wells of salvation. 4 And in that day you will say: 'Praise the Lord, call upon His name; Declare His deeds among the peoples, Make mention that His name is exalted. 5 Sing to the Lord, For He has done excellent things; This is known in all the earth. 6 Cry out and shout, O inhabitant of Zion, For great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst!' ”
Introduction
Last week during HQ first service, I received a message and there was a question that was asked, “What is the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning? That determines your future.” I received this message as God’s voice. When you open your eyes first and start getting worried or anxious, then that is what your future will look like. When I think about myself, I realize that before I go to sleep, I memorize and meditate on the 393 prayer. When I close my eyes before I go to sleep and when open my eyes in the morning, I memorize and meditate on 1 Chronicles 29:11-13 “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, And You are exalted as head over all. 12 Both riches and honor come from You, And You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; In Your hand it is to make great And to give strength to all. 13 'Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name.' ”. I have been doing this for a few years now. There are times when I wake up and forget. I realized that there has been many mornings when I wake up in the morning without much thought. When I wake up in the morning, if I naturally start praying with the heavenly throne, then that is a great blessing. Then, the great power of the heavenly throne will shine upon my life. Examine yourself. What are your first thoughts in the morning? If it is nothing, then start praying today. Pray to God, “May today be a day where I can enjoy the heavenly throne.” When you pray this prayer before God every morning then great works will arise in your life. Today’s sermon is very important. It is a short Biblical passage today but it contains a lot of grace.
1. Praise the God of Salvation
1) God's love for those who remain
Verse 1 - This message was telling Israelites that this will be their confession when they return back to Israel after their captivity. When those who do return, they will return with great joy and jubilee. Whenever we read the book of Isaiah, there is something that we must always think abut. The book of Isaiah constantly gave messages of warning regarding the destruction that will come upon Israel from the lands of Assyria and Aram.
Isaiah 11:16, 6:9, 10:22 “There will be a highway for the remnant of His people Who will be left from Assyria, As it was for Israel In the day that he came up from the land of Egypt. 6:9 And He said, 'Go, and tell this people: 'Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’ 10:22 For though your people, O Israel, be as the sand of the sea, A remnant of them will return; The destruction decreed shall overflow with righteousness.” - This is a very interesting message. Even though Isaiah gave the message of God, it said that people will not understand. But even if people don’t understand, God commands Isaiah to continue to proclaim and preach the word of God. Even though it may be a waste of time for Isaiah, why did God still continue command Isaiah to preach? There was a plan of God behind this.
Isaiah 10:22 - Because there is ultimately a remnant in Israel so that is why God was commanding Isaiah to preach the word of God. The Bible always focuses and centers on the remnants, the remaining ones. Even though the Israelites continued to fall into destruction and corruption, we can see that God continued to proclaim His word through the remnants like Daniel when people of God fell in captivity. How did these people know the word of God and possess faith? When the word of God was proclaimed, even though the entire people of Israel fell into destruction and corruption, there were still a few remnants who continued to listen and obey God’s word. Through these few people of faith, the next generations like Ezra were raised. Ezra was a priest who was born in these circumstances but he grew up to become a great priest becuase he heard the gospel from the remaining ones from generations to generations.
2) The faith of those who remain
Verse 2 - Isaiah commands for people to look and he was proclaiming this to those who were still listening and obeying God’s word. This was what Isaiah was proclaiming to the few remnants remaining. Those who remained, they received great grace. Assurance comes from the resolution of faith. Those who have assurance, what kind of heart do they have? They are able confess that they are not afraid and they will trust in God. No matter what situations comes before them, they were not afraid. Those who have this assurance like Daniel’s three friends, they did not become afraid even before King Nebuchadnezzar and even before the fire that they were about to be thrown into. They possessed the faith even to the point to that even if they were thrown into fire, they confessed and proclaimed that they were not afraid. Isaiah was proclaiming the word of God to the remaining ones. The background behind verse 2 was the song that Moses sang when the Israelites were crossing the Red Sea during the Exodus. Moses saw with his own eyes that the Red Sea split and the Egyptian army being completely swallowed by the Red Sea. At that time, Moses was so happy that he rejoiced and confessed that the Lord God is his strength and song. Why was Isaiah confessing the same thing? Isaiah had the assurance that they will receive the same blessing. God will absolutely save them, Isaiah had assurance of this. At that time, Isaiah continued to speak.
2. Drink the Water of Salvation
1) The answer of the well of Siloam
Verse 3 and Numbers 20:11 “Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.” - The Israelites experienced the miracle of water flowing from a rock. In the wilderness, there was no drinking water so all of the Israelites started complaining to Moses. At that time, God commanded Moses to hit a rock and Moses being angry, he hit the rock and the moment he hit the rock, water started pouring out from the rock. At that time, all of the Israelites and livestock came together, and were able to quench their thirst for 38 years. The Israelites couldn’t forget this and couldn’t forget how God saved them so in order to commemorate this event, they made the Day of Tabernacle to celebrate this.
Leviticus 23:34 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the Lord.' ” - The Day of Tabernacle is considered as one of the greatest feast. On July 1st, they have the day of trumpet which proclaims salvation from God. July 10th is the day of atonement. Just like the Israelites who received salvation from the shedding of the blood of the young lamb during the Exodus, the Israelites would prepare two goats to commemorate their day of salvation. July 15th was the day of tabernacle. There is a very imprint meaning behind all of this. The Israelites would build tents in the wilderness and would live there for 7 days. They would do this so they would remember the days during the wilderness and how God saved them during those days. On the 8th day, they would do something else that was very important. They would gather all of the Israelites at the synagogue and all of the priests would wear a white clothing, and walk in one straight line holding a golden kettle. The song that they would sing was Isaiah 12. They would constantly sing the praise of Isaiah 12:3. When they would reach their destination to a well of water, they would put water in the golden kettle and return back the synagogue.
They would gather the water into the kettle while singing Psalm 118:25 “Save now, I pray, O Lord; O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity.” After they would pour the water out from the kettle, they would pour into a bronze altar and gave two offerings. They would prepare water and wine, and one the sides, there were two silver bowls. Within the silver bowls, there was a pipe that would connect the bronze altar to the kettles. Then at that point, the water and wine would be poured and mixed together into the bronze altar. What is the meaning behind all of this? When Jesus died on the cross, Jesus shed His blood and water from His body. When the Israelites did this, they wouldn’t know what they were really doing. They were just preaching and singing out to God, thank you for saving us! They would pour the water knowing that God provided them water in the wilderness. But that was not it at all, this was symbolizing Jesus’ death on the cross.
They would pour the water and wine asking God for prosperity but during His earthly ministry, Jesus saw this feast happening with his own eyes and said in John 7:37-38 “On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, 'If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.' ” - When they poured water, they would cry out to God but Jesus was proclaiming that this water was representing Him. Jesus was proclaiming that this water and blood was embodying Him, and for them to come to Him to quench their thirst. Even though they heard about the gospel of liberation, they didn’t know the true meaning of their acts during these feasts. You cry out to God all the time but you only ask God for prosperity. From here, we need to come to know the meaning of the water of Siloam.
2) The meaning of the water of Siloam
John 7:39, 3:3, 5:39, 6:63 “But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.' 5:39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.” - Those who believe in Jesus, they will receive the Holy Spirit and eternal life. You need to hold onto this meaning of this water of Siloam.
John 3:3 - This is the mystery on how we can gain life. What does this water mean? Water is referring to the word of God. How is the word of God represent water? The word of God cleanses our sins. The word of God allows us to open our spiritual eyes and allows us to accept Jesus, and become a new creation. That is why you cannot take water out from Jesus and salvation.
John 5:39 - The scriptures is referring to the Old Testament and it contained the mystery of eternal life. From the word of God from the Old Testament, we can discover what sin is. The way to cleanse our sins, the word of God tells us and records the method in the Old testament. It was by sacrificing a blood sacrifice. This is the mystery of obtaining eternal life that is found in Jesus Christ alone.
John 6:63 - The word of God gives life. That is why the word of God is so precious. The word of God that you are meditating on is so important. The moment you meditate on the word of God, the Spirit of life comes upon you, darkness is bound, and sin is broken. The word of God saves you as well. It is life.
Acts 10:44 “While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.” - This is the power of the word of God. When you meditate on the word of God, the water of life starts pouring out. When you hold onto the word of God and pray, then the great power of the heavenly throne will come upon you. Right now, the power of the Holy Spirit is being poured out to you. When you take the word of God as your own, then you can experience the great power of light coming upon you.
3. Proclaim Among the Nations
1) Excellent things
Verse 5 - We must always proclaim and sing to the Lord. We have no choice but to sing to God because we know what salvation is. Becuase salvation is such a beautiful thing. This is the work of salvation. There are three prophecies spoken in the book of Isaiah.
2 Kings 19:35 “And it came to pass on a certain night that the angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses—all dead.” - This is the beautiful work of praising the Lord. God appeared before the great Assyrian army and completely destroy the entire army. It did happen. The second prophecy was that Israel will absolutely be colonized by Babylon but God promised that He will grant liberation to Israel. The prophecy was that the Israelites will be liberated. In the Biblical Scripture it said that they will be full of joy. They will sing praise when they are liberated. This did actually ended up happening. The last prophecy that has not happened yet is like a shadow that has not happened yet. But when that prophecy is fulfilled, great joy be will upon this world. That last prophecy that was that God will save mankind through Jesus Christ. What is the fundamental problem of mankind? The problem is that we have been separated from God and we had to die and go to hell because of our sins. The problem is that we are suffering this world and think this is hard but the true problem is, you will go to hell after death. This is the most beautiful work in our lives. Do you believe in this? Nothing is more beautiful is than us going to heaven. We were supposed to go to hell. Even if we are persecuted and suffer for the rest of our lives, we will still go to heaven. Isn’t it better for us to live a life of suffering and go to heaven in the end rather than living a prosperous life on Earth and going to hell? That is why we must be thankful. We need to always praise that God is righteous. When we got heaven, we will all understand. Anticipate this.
2) Three prayers
Platform prayer (Luke 2:9 “And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.”) - Pray with thanksgiving regarding the heavenly throne. May God’s heavenly throne come upon you. God will work through the word of God as well as through our prayers. Even before we start praying, answers are already ours.
Luke 2:9 - When the angel of God appeared, the glory of the Lord was shining. That blessing is upon us.
Watchtower prayer (Luke 2:10 “Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.’ ”) - The purpose of a watchtower is to watch and be able to see all things. Everything that we see, it needs to become our prayers. There is a plan of God in everything. Whether it is a good thing or bad, that is all a prayer topic from God.
Luke 2:10 - As we look in the field, if we pray to God then God’s great glory will shine upon our fields.
Antenna prayer (Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”) - The angels appeared before the shepherds and they never imagined that they would receive this great answer and meeting. But the great blessing that they received was to watch the sheep all night and the light was shining upon them all night. When you pray to God all night and look up to God, then God’s light will shine upon you. Pray the concentrative prayer. I pray that you can continue to pray the prayer of the heavenly throne. Pray for God’s great grace to come upon you and make this resolution. I pray that God’s great light and glory will shine upon you. God is listening to every one of our prayers and God will always answer us. If we pray sincerely and earnestly, then God will absolutely answer us. So pray, then God will answer us greatly.
Conclusion
Receive the answer of Isaiah 43:19 “Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” - God wants us to have a new start so He gave you specialized training. God said that He will come forth and will pave the road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. May you receive answers.
