Those Who Desire a Better Country (Hebrews 11:13-16)

“13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. 15 And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.”
Introduction
Among the animals, salmon make a special journey in their lives and there is a place where they go. They go back to their birthplace. The salmon usually live in the river and when it is about time for them to die, they would return to their place of their birth and prepare for their death. Returning to their birthplace is a very difficult journey. But astoundingly, when the salmon turns back to their birthplace, they roam the entire river, and they can find their birthplace so accurately and precisely. It is still a scientific question on how the salmon can find their birthplace. Do salmons have great memory skills? No, it is not that. I am sure it is because God has given them the power of instinct to return to their birthplace. We call this instinct. We also have instinct regarding our home. We are always searching for our birthplace. We always miss our hometown. Who gives us this heart? God give us this heart. For mankind, we are always experiencing home sickness. Many people experience home sickness when they leave their hometown. But when we look at today's Biblical passage, the forefathers of faith, the home sickness that they possessed were different from ours. When we read today’s Biblical passage, the home sickness that they possessed and were referring to was not home sickness for Earth but for another place. When we look at today’s Biblical passage, we must look at the faith that we must possess.
1. The Country That Believers Desire
1) Looking to the hope of promise
Verse 13 - These people are referring to Jacob, Issaac, Abraham, and Joseph. These individuals all possessed faith and lived their lives on Earth. But what kind of faith did they have? They had faith regarding God’s promise and held onto this promise when they died. They received this promise, but it was a promise that was not fulfilled yet.
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” - When we look at this promise, it was not fulfilled it. They received the promise and believed in it but it was not fulfilled yet.
We can confirm in verse 13 that they were assured and embraced the promise. They were so glad and happy with the promise that was given to them. The promise that they held onto was Genesis 3:15, the promise of the offspring of the woman. With the content of this promise, they were all screaming with joy and happiness. This was something that Jesus Christ also mentioned.
John 8:56 “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” - They held onto the promise. Jesus said that Abraham saw His days. What Abraham held onto was the promise that Jesus Christ will come and will die on the cross for mankind.
From my perspective, I think Abraham held onto Genesis 22:17 “Blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.” - There were great blessings that God gave to Abraham when Abraham showed his great faith by obeying God to sacrifice his son, Issaac. God promised Abraham that his descendants will be as numerous as the sand on the seashore and when Abraham heard this, he was so happy. Abraham understood what this meant. Abraham held onto the covenant of the offspring of the woman. Abraham held onto that the covenant that the head of Satan will absolutely be crushed. Even though Abraham didn't see this physically, he held onto this promise and believed. As we know, this was realistically fulfilled exactly was it was promised. Abraham didn’t see this physically but seeing it ahead of time, he was rejoicing. But this has happened, and we are holding onto it this evidence. This shows that we are amid tremendous blessings.
2) The meaning of life on this earth
Verse 14 - The forefathers of faith realistically lived this kind of life.
Genesis 23:4, 47:9 “I am a foreigner and a visitor among you. Give me property for a burial place among you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight. 47:9 And Jacob said to Pharaoh, 'The days of the years of my pilgrimage are one hundred and thirty years; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.' ” - Abraham went to a foreign land and this was what Abraham said to the people there. Abraham gained tremendous power and wealth but there was nothing that he owned or even land that he possessed in Canaan. But his wife, Sarah died but if he had his own land, he would have a proper burial site for Sarah, but he didn't. So, he asked the people of Canaan to sell a piece of land to him so he could bury Sarah. He lived in Canaan for a long period of time, but he never bought his own land to the point where he didn’t even have a place to bury Sarah, his wife. He had no interest in worldly possessions of land.
Genesis 47:9 - Jacob lived for 100 years but he said that he was still a pilgrim in this land. Jacob lived in this land of 130 years, but he was saying that he was still a pilgrim in this land.
1 Chronicles 29:15 “For we are aliens and pilgrims before You, As were all our fathers; Our days on earth are as a shadow, And without hope.” - This was what King David confessed. King David said that not only for him but his descendants and people of God are living as aliens and pilgrims on Earth. King David was someone who lived as a king, and he was well respected by his people and many people of this world. But all his glory were all considered as a shadow for him. He said that there was no hope on this Earth. This was an astounding confession made by King David. What was David’s hope? It was not of this world. When you think about this, what is your hope? Meditate on this.
2. Faith To Desire Heaven
1) The country they desire
Verse 15 - Abraham had many chances tor return back to his home, but he didn’t return. When he married his son, Isaac off, he said something to his servant.
Genesis 24:8 “And if the woman is not willing to follow you, then you will be released from this oath; only do not take my son back there.” - Abrahm tells his servant to not to go back to homeland to find a wife for Isaac. Abraham tells the servant Genesis 24:8. This land was not referring to Abraham's hometown. This was meaning that Abraham was telling the servant not to go back to his hometown. This means that his home was not of this earth but somewhere else. Then, where is our hometown? If you look in the Bible, we were created in God’s image. This means that our hometown is not Earth but when we are with God. When we are with God, that is considered our home. But a problem arose for mankind. Mankind disobeyed God. They committed sin against God and became separated from God. What is the life of those who are separated from God? It is life of desolation and full of suffering. All people who are living in this Earth, even if you are a king or a president, you are living a desolate and empty life. But ultimately, all mankind will face eternal judgment before God at the end of their lives. All mankind will live according to their fate and destiny and experience their fate of judgment at the end of life. Because God had mercy and pity on us, He gave us the covenant of the offspring of the woman. In other words, God gave us the way back to meet Him once again through the promise of the offspring of the woman. This was what the descendants of faith held onto. They held onto this with faith. They were looking at the image of Christ and they were rejoicing. What were they cheering for? They were accepting Jesus Christ. The fact that they accepted Christ, everything changed for them. Their hometown changed. They were changed from a child of Satan to a child of God. When we die, our home will change as well. Our hometown will change. Those who are children of God, they will naturally find this hometown. This is what we believe in. The forefathers of faith held onto this. They is no reason for us have lingering feelings and attachment for Earth. With this faith, God blessed His people tremendously.
2) God's guarantee
Verse 16 - This is astounding. When they looked up to God alone and lived their lives, God gave them great rewards. When we look at this, they were not ashamed to call God their God.
Exodus 3:6 “Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.” - This is shown many times in the Bible. This is a very astounding message. When a father looks at his child, he can easily identify him or her as his son or daughter. When God saw Abraham and Isaac, He called them His children. God was happy when He was saying this. I am sure that you are being called God’s children as well. Confess this today. God is saying to you, I am the God of Rev. Myung-sin Choi. Replace your name with my name. Confess this. May you enjoy this blessing. If that is so, there is a reality that we must hold onto.
Matthew 22:32 “I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” -
3. The Reality that We Need to See
1) The covenant to which we must hold
The forefathers of faith, they had assurance of God’s promise and when they held onto this with great assurance, great blessings came to them. Then, what we must hold onto? We must look at the age very carefully. We must see the current age with our spiritual eyes. We are in the midst of the pandemic of the COVID-19. During this pandemic, we can see that 200 million cases of COVID arose. Also, when we look at the death rates, approximately 4.2 million people have died. Many people have been affected and have perished because of this virus. Right now, we also heard about the flood that took place in China and many people were killed as well. I saw in the news that all the land was filled with water and flooding. There was another flooding that took place in Germany and many parts of Europe, and many people have been affected as well as lost their lives. When we look at America, there are many wildfires taking place and it feels like fire is coming down from heaven. All homes are being lost to the fire. There were other regions throughout the world that expereinced devasting wildfires. Also, all the ice is melting, and the glaciers are all falling into the water.
Matthew 24:8, 14 “All these are the beginning of sorrows. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” - I think this Biblical passage explains what is happening right now very well. We must hold onto God’s voice right now.
What is absolute is that when disasters arise, we must hold onto Matthew 24:14 - When we look at this, for the sake of world evangelism, we must hold onto the covenant of God. We must hold onto this as our heavenly mandate and hear God’s voice and carry out our mission as we go out to the world. That is why we must make a resolution today.
1 Kings 19:21 “So Elisha turned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen and slaughtered them and boiled their flesh, using the oxen’s equipment, and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and followed Elijah, and became his servant.” - We can see Elisha’s resolution. Elisha left everything behind and followed Elijah. In order to break down the face of idolatry, he followed Elijah. We must hold not this covenant.
2 Kings 6:16 “So he answered, 'Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.' ” - Elisha said that he wanted to have the double portion of spirit and power that Elijah had. We must hold out this message and make a resolution. The covenantal blessings that God granted Elisha, we must also receive as well. We must pray to receive the same covenantal blessings. In this age, we must receive the same answer that Elisha received. With our spiritual eyes opened; we must enjoy the throne of the kingdom of God as seen in 2 Kings 6:16. Elisha allowed the eyes of the servants to be opened and they were able to see the army of angels surrounding and protecting them. What is absolute is that the armies of angels are with us, they are with us wherever we go and will work wherever we go. The people who can save this age is us alone. When we pray with this, then God will give us His evidence. We must hold onto the message that was given to us during the WRC leader’s message.
2) Testimony to be given
Nobody -> Everybody - What is this message talking about? In situations where we can receive help from nowhere, God will use us so that we can do what no one else can do. If there is no one who can help you, that is when we know that this is the start that God wants for you. When Jospeh was sold into slavery in Genesis 37:36 “Now the Midianites had sold him in Egypt to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh and captain of the guard.” - There was no one who could help or rescue Joseph. But here, we can see that Joseph held onto God. He held onto God alone. When God saw Joseph's resolution, He granted Joseph the ability to save Potiphar, his family, and the entire nation and the world. Who will be granted this? It will be granted to those who hold onto the covenant.
Nothing -> Everything - We must be a witness of this. We have nothing and we have no hope. Everything that we see is full of doubt. The world is so dirty and corrupt, we can discern and see this. When we able to see this, then this is the greatest opportunity that God has given to us. It is the opportunity to save people to give them true hope. This is what our remnants must hold onto. Wherever we go, we may experience disappointment and hardships, but we must be the ones who can save people who have no hope. Why did Joseph become a slave? Why was Moses adopted and was an orphan? This was the situation and opportunity that God granted them. God had a plan for them. When they entered God’s plan, great blessings were given to them. This is the message of blessings that our remnants must hold onto.
Conclusion
Philippians 3:20-21 “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.” - Our citizenship is in heaven. This message will absolutely be fulfilled. After time passes and we leave this land of pilgrimage, great rewards and glory will be given to us. We will be turned into glorious bodies, and we will stand before God with great rewards. May we live a life of faith.
더 나은 본향을 찾는 자(히11:13-16)
서론
동물이나 물고기들 가운데서 죽을 때가 되면 자기 난 곳으로 찾아가서 죽는 것들이 있다. 그 중에서 대표적인 것이 연어라고 볼 수가 있다. 연어는 개울이나 강에서 태어나서 일생을 바다에 가서 산다. 그래서 죽을 때가 되면 다시 고향인 개울이나 강으로 돌아가서 알을 낳고 죽는다. 자기 고향으로 돌아가는 기나긴 여정은 참으로 힘들고 고달픈 험난한 여정이다. 놀라운 사실은 연어가 자기 고향으로 돌아가는데 나침반도 없이 그 수만 km가 되는 바다를 돌고 돌다가 자기가 태어난 곳을 정확히 찾아간다. 그게 어떻게해서 그렇게 돌아가는지는 정확히 밝혀지지 않았다. 연어가 기억력이 좋아서 찾아가는 것도 아니다. 분명한 것은 하나님께서 주신 본능의 힘 때문에 찾아간다. 그것을 보고 우리는 귀소본능이라고 한다. 우리 인간에게도 귀소본능이 있다. 고향을 찾는 마음을 부모들은 갖고있다. 고향을 그리워하는 마음도 갖고있다. 이 마음을 누가 주셨느냐. 바로 하나님께서 주신 마음이다. 인간은 향수병이라는 것에 걸린다. 고향을 떠나서 이민생활을 하는 사람들이 향수병에 걸려서 괴로움을 느끼는 것을 보게된다. 오늘 본문 말씀을 보게되면 믿음의 조상들은 그들이 갖고 있던 향수병이 우리와 달랐던 것을 볼 수 있다. 오늘 본문에 읽었습니다만 이 사람들이 갖고있는 향수병은 이 땅에 있는 것이 아니라 하늘에 있는 것을 볼 수 있다. 오늘 이 말씀을 통해서 하나님께서 아주 귀중한 반드시 갖고있어야할 신앙의 요소들을 몇가지 말씀해주시고 있다.
1. 믿는 자들이 찾는 본향
1) 약속의 소망을 바라봄
히 11:13 이 사람들은 다 믿음을 따라 죽었으며 약속을 받지 못하였으되 그것들을 멀리서 보고 환영하며 또 땅에서는 외국인과 나그네임을 증언하였으니
이 사람들이라는 것은 아브라함 이삭 야곱 요셉을 말하는 것으로 생각된다. 이 사람들이 다 믿음을 잡고 자기의 삶을 이 땅에서 마감했다는 것이다. 무슨 믿음이냐하면 약속을 주신 믿음을 갖고 죽었다는 것이다. 그런데 약속을 받긴 받았는데 아직까지 실현되지 않는 약속이다.
히 11:1 믿음은 바라는 것들의 실상이요 보이지 않는 것들의 증거니
주신 약속을 바라보면서 실상이 있는 것을 확신하면서도 아직 성취되지 않은 상태라는 것이다. 그런데 이 약속을 그들이 전적으로 믿고 있었다는 것이다. 그것이 13절 말씀에서 확인할 수 있다. 그것들을 멀리서보고 환영했다고 이야기한다. 그 약속들을 환영한 것이다. 환호하고 소리쳤다는 말이다. 너무나 기뻤다는 말이다. ‘약속이로구나!’ 하면서 붙잡고 소리친 것이다. 그들이 확신하고 잡은 약속이 바로 창 3:15에 나오는 여자의 후손을 통해서 뱀의 머리를 깨겠다는 언약이다. 이 내용을 갖고 칼빈은 이야기하기를 그들은 그리스도의 희미한 형상을 보면서 소리치고 기뻐했다. 이 장면에서 예수님께서도 말씀하셨다.
요 8:56 너희 조상 아브라함은 나의 때 볼 것을 즐거워하다가 보고 기뻐하였느니라
그 언약을 확실히 잡은 것이다. 예수님께서 아브라함이 나의 때에 볼 것을 봤다고 얘기하셨다. 아브라함이 확실히 잡았던 것은 그리스도께서 분명히 이 땅에 오실 것과 십자가를 통해서 구속사역을 이루실 것이었다. 제가 보기는 성경적인 근거를 보게되면 창 22:17 말씀에서 확실히 잡지 않았나 한다. 이삭을 바침을 통해서 하나님께서주신 어마어마한 축복의 말씀을 아브라함이 받았었다. 그 중에서 특히 주신 말씀이 네 씨가 대적의 성문을 차지하실 것이라고 하셨다. 이 말씀 들을 때 아브라함이 얼마나 기뻤을까 하는 마음이 든다. 그 그리스도가 자기 자손 가운데 나타날 것이라는 말이다. 그를 통해서 천하만민이 복을 받게될 것이라는 것을 잡았다. 바로 사단의 머리가 완전히 깨질 것이라는 것을 잡았다. 그들은 실제 보지 못했지만 말씀을 들으면서 보고 믿었다고 말씀하고 있다. 그래서 실질적으로 이 말씀이 그대로 성취가 되었다. 저는 이것을 보면서 아브라함은 보지도 못하고 멀리서 보면서 기뻐하고 박수를 쳤는데 우리는 실제 보고 그리스도를 누리고 있다. 우리가 얼마나 큰 축복 속에 있는지를 다시 알 수가 있다.
2) 이 땅의 삶의 의미
오늘 본문 말씀이 우리에게 두번째로 주시는 의미는 이 땅에서의 삶의 의미를 분명히 잡아야겠다는 메세지이다. 그들은 이 땅에서 외국인과 나그내의 삶을 증언하는 삶을 살았다고 나온다.
히 11:14 그들이 이같이 말하는 것은 자기들이 본향 찾는 자임을 나타냄이라
이들은 실질적으로 그런 삶을 살았다.
창 23:4 나는 당신들 중에 나그네요 거류하는 자이니 당신들 중에서 내게 매장할 소유지를 주어 내가 나의 죽은 자를 내 앞에서 내어다가 장사하게 하시오
아브라함이 헷 족속에게 가서 한 얘기이다. 나는 당신들 중에 나그네요 거류하는 자라고 말했다. 아브라함은 가병 318명을 거느리고 살 정도로 힘이 있었는데도 가나안에 자기 땅이 하나도 없었다. 그런데 자기 부인 사라가 죽었다. 자기 땅이 있어야 가서 매장할텐데 헷 족속에게 가서 나에게 땅을 좀 팔라 하면서 한 이야기이다. 이 아브라함은 가나안 땅에서 100년 이상을 살았음에도 자기 땅 하나 없이 자기 부인 묻을 땅만 있었다. 세상 땅 이런데 전혀 관심이 없었던 것이다.
창 47:9 야곱이 바로에게 아뢰되 내 나그네 길의 세월이 백삼십 년이니이다 내 나이가 얼마 못 되니 우리 조상의 나그네 길의 연조에 미치지 못하나 험악한 세월을 보내었나이다 하고
야곱은 130년 동안 살면서 항상 나그네로 살았다는 말이다. 나그네의 삶이 참 험난한 세월을 살았습니다 하고 말하고 있다.
대상 29:15 우리는 우리 조상들과 같이 주님 앞에서 이방 나그네와 거류민들이라 세상에 있는 날이 그림자 같아서 희망이 없나이다
다윗의 고백이다. 다윗은 이야기하기를 자기 뿐 아니라 조상들도 같이 이방 나그네와 거류민으로 이 땅에 살고있다고 했다. 그리고 이야기하기를 세상에 있는 날이 그림자 같아서 희망이 없나이다 했다. 다윗은 왕으로 살았던 사람이다. 세상 사람들에게 존경과 영광을 받았던 사람이다. 그런데 그 모든 영광이 그림자와 같다는 것이다. 그리고 희망이 없다는 것이다. 참 놀라운 고백이다. 다윗의 소망이 무엇인가. 다윗은 소망은 분명히 이 땅의 것이 아니었다. 한 번 생각해보시기 바란다. 지금 가지고 있는 소망이 무엇인가. 한 번 묵상해보시기 바란다.
2. 천국을 바라보는 신앙
1) 그들이 찾은 본향
우리가 그 다음에 붙잡아야할 것은 그들은 참 본향을 찾고 있었다. 어느 정도 잡고 있었는가.
히 11:15 그들이 나온 바 본향을 생각하였더라면 돌아갈 기회가 있었으려니와
아브라함은 언제든지 돌아갈 기회가 많이 있었다. 그런데 돌아가지 않았다. 심지어는 자기 아들 이삭을 결혼 시킬 때 자기 종에게 한 이야기를 보면 귀중한 이야기가 나타난다. 창 24:4 말씀을 보게되면 그 종에게 “내 고향 내 족속에게로 가서 내 아들 이삭을 위하여 아내를 택하라”고 말한다. 이 종은 아브라함에게 물었다. “만일에 여자가 따라오지 않겠다고 하면 어떻게합니까?”
창 24:8 만일 여자가 너를 따라 오려고 하지 아니하면 나의 이 맹세가 너와 상관이 없나니 오직 내 아들을 데리고 그리로 가지 말지니라
그 땅은 자기가 태어난 고향이었다. 내 아들은 그리로 갈 수 없다는 것이다. 하나님의 뜻이 아니라는 것이다. 아브라함이 생각하는 본향은 이 땅이 아니었다는 것이다. 그러면 인간의 본향이 어딘가. 성경을 보게되면 인간은 하나님의 형상으로 지음을 받았다고 이야기하고 있다. 하나님께서 생기를 그 코에 불어넣으시니 생령이 되었다고 이야기하고 있다. 무슨 말씀인가. 우리의 고향은 하나님 안에 있다는 것이다. 우리는 하나님 안에 있을 때 가장 행복하고 그 속에서 살아왔던 것이 우리 조상들이다. 그런데 인간에게 문제가 생겼다. 하나님 앞에 불순종 했다. 죄를 지어서 하나님을 떠나게 되었다. 하나님을 떠난 삶이 어떤 것인가. 험난한 나그네의 삶이 하나님을 떠난 삶이다. 이번에 이 땅에 사는 모든 사람들, 대통령도 좋고 왕도 좋고 누구든 간에 살아가는 모든 사람들은 다 험난한 삶을 살고 있다. 그러다가 결국은 영원한 심판 속으로 들어간다. 누구든지 운명 속에 붙잡혀서 살다가 죽을 수 밖에 없다. 하나님께서는 불쌍히 여기셔서 약속을 주셨다. 바로 그것이 여자의 후손에 대한 언약의 말씀이다. 다시 말씀드리면 하나님을 만날 수 있는 본향으로 돌아갈 수 있는 길이 여자의 후손이라는 것을 말씀해주신 것이다. 믿음의 조상들은 그것을 듣고 받았다. 믿음으로 그것을 멀리서 바라보았다. 그 그리스도를 바라보며 살았다. 그리고 환영했다. 환영했다는 것은 그리스도를 받아들이는 것을 나타낸다. 그리스도를 받아들이는 순간에 완전히 소속이 바뀌었다는 것이다. 소속이 바뀌는 순간에 사단의 종에서 하나님의 자녀로 바뀌는 것이다. 우리가 앞으로 죽고 난 다음에 가야할 집이 바뀌는 것이다. 본향이 바뀌어버리는 것이다. 하나님의 자녀에게는 하나님의 집이 본향이다. 이것이 믿음인 줄로 믿는다. 믿음의 선진들은 이것을 분명히 잡고 있었다. 이 세상에 미련을 조금도 갖고있지 않았다. 이런 믿음을 보시고 하나님께서는 크게 축복하신다. 그것이 바로 16절 말씀이다.
2) 하나님의 보증
히 11:16 그들이 이제는 더 나은 본향을 사모하니 곧 하늘에 있는 것이라 이러므로 하나님이 그들의 하나님이라 일컬음 받으심을 부끄러워하지 아니하시고 그들을 위하여 한 성을 예비하셨느니라
놀라운 것이다. 오직 하나님을 바라보며 사니까 어마어마한 축복을 상급으로 주신 것이다. 그런데 보면 하나님이 그들의 하나님이라 일컬음을 받음을 부끄러워하지 아니하셨다는 말씀이 나온다. 하나님께서는 사람의 이름을 부르면서 자신의 존재를 가르키고 계신다.
출 3:6 또 이르시되 나는 네 조상의 하나님이니 아브라함의 하나님, 이삭의 하나님, 야곱의 하나님이니라 모세가 하나님 뵈옵기를 두려워하여 얼굴을 가리우매
이 말씀은 성경에 많이 나타난다. 이것이 얼마나 기가막힌 말씀인가. 우리가 보통 보게되면 서현이 아빠다 희철이 아빠가 하게되면 소속을 나타내는 것이다. 바로 하나님이 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱의 소속이라는 것이다. 내 자녀라는 말이다. 이것을 기뻐하시면서 아주 자주 사용하신다. 여러분들도 다 이런 부름을 받는 줄 믿는다. 여러분 다 고백하시기 바란다. 하나님께서 말씀하시기를 나는 최목사의 하나님이라 하시는 말씀을 들으시기 바란다. 여러분들 이름 붙여서 해보시기 바란다. 하나님이 부르시는 소리로 들으시기 바란다. 소리내서 같이 하시기 바란다. 나는 최목사의 하나님이라. 자기 이름 붙여서 하시기 바란다. 이미 여러분들은 하나님의 자녀인 줄로 믿는다. 지금 아브라함의 하나님, 이삭의 하나님, 야곱의 하나님이 라는 것은 무엇인가. 마 22:32 말씀에 보게되면 하나님은 죽은 자의 하나님이 아니요 살아있는 하나님이라는 의미라고 말하고 있다.
마 22:32 나는 아브라함의 하나님이요 이삭의 하나님이요 야곱의 하나님이로라 하신 것을 읽어 보지 못하였느냐 하나님은 죽은 자의 하나님이 아니요 살아 있는 자의 하나님이시니라 하시니
이들이 그렇게 기다렸던 본향, 천국에는 이미 아브라함, 이삭, 야곱 같은 믿음의 조상들이 살아있다는 것이다. 그들은 살아서 지금 같이 있는 내 자녀들이다 하는 것을 나타낸다. 이 축복이 이미 여러분들에게 누려진 줄로 믿는다.
3. 우리가 봐야할 실상
1) 잡아야할 언약
그렇다면 우리가 봐야할 실상을 붙잡아야겠다. 여러분 지금 아브라함와 이삭과 야곱같은 믿음의 조상들은 하나님 주신 언약을 멀지만 확실히 자기 언약으로 잡았을 때 어마어마한 축복 속으로 들어갔다. 그러면 우리가 지금 현재 잡아야할 것이 무엇인가. 시대의 흐름을 잘 봐야겠다. 지금 현재 시대적으로 일어나는 모든 상황을 영적으로 봐야할 줄로 믿는다. 지금 우리는 코로나 위기 속에 있다. 잠시동안 일어난 사이에 확신자가 2억명에 가깝다. 뿐만 아니라 사망자를 보니까 420만명이 죽었다. 어마어마한 사람이 바이러스 때문에 목숨을 읽고 죽은 것이다. 저는 요새 여름이 되서 중국에서 홍수가 나서 수많은 사람이 죽은 것을 보았다. 차를 몰고가는데 물이 와서 그냥 물에 둥둥둥 떠다닌다. 그런데 저 독일에서도 백몇십명이 죽었다. 벨기에도 그렇고 오스트레일리아도 그렇고 수많은 사람들이 홍수가 나서 고통받고 죽어가고 있다. 지금 미국에서는 서부쪽에서 불이나서 하늘로 그냥 불기둥이 올라가고 있다. 지구를 난로로 불을 붙이고 있으니까 온도가 올라가지 않을 수 없다. 시베리아에서도 불이 나서 산 전채가 불타고 있다. 그러니까 북부쪽에는 얼음이 녹아서 바다에 빠지는게 보인다.
마 24:8 이 모든 것은 재난의 시작이니라
정말 이 말씀이 지금이로구나 하는 말씀이 든다. 이 때 우리에게 주시는 음성을 잘 잡아야겠다. 분명한 것은 재난이 시작이 되거든 너희들이 분명히 잡아야할 것은 마 24:14 말씀이다 하고 성경에서 이야기하고 있다.
마 24:14 이 천국 복음이 모든 민족에게 증언되기 위하여 온 세상에 전파되리니 그제야 끝이 오리라
여러분 이것을 보면서 본격적으로 앞으로 세계복음화를 위해서 이웃복음화를 위해서 이 언약으로 잡으시기 바란다. 그런 현상을 보면서 천명으로 받아들이면서 내가 이 음성을 들으면서 소명을 잡고 사명으로 나가야한다. 그래서 우리는 앞으로 결단해야겠다.
왕상 19:21 엘리사가 그를 떠나 돌아가서 한 겨릿소를 가져다가 잡고 소의 기구를 불살라 그 고기를 삶아 백성에게 주어 먹게 하고 일어나 엘리야를 따르며 수종 들었더라
엘리사가 한 결단을 같이 붙잡아야겠다. 엘리야가 엘리사를 불렀을 때 당장에 쫓아가서 당시 농사졌던 소를 다 잡아서 마을 사람을 불러서 잔치를 벌이고 엘리야를 따라갔다. 본격적으로 흑암의 우상 세력을 깨트리기 위해서 엘리야를 따라간 것이다. 이 언약을 꼭 붙잡으시기 바란다. 왕하 2:9-11 말씀에 엘리야가 엘리사보고 네가 어떻게 되기를 원하느냐 하고 물었다. 그때 엘리사가 이야기하기를 엘리야가 받은 성령을 갑절을 받기 원합니다 하고 말했다. 이 말씀을 붙잡고 기도의 결단을 하시기 바란다. 하나님 엘리사에게 허락해주셨던 언약의 축복이 나에게도 성취되게 하옵소서 하고 기도하시기 바란다. 이 말세 시대에 있어서 엘리사가 받았던 응답을 받아야할 줄로 믿는다. 그리고 영적인 눈을 뜨고 왕하 6:16의 보좌의 축복을 누리시기 바란다. 아람 군대가 왔을 때 종이 물었다. “군대가 와서 여기를 다 포위하고 있습니다” 했다. 그러나 그 하인이 보지 못했던 것을 엘리사는 보고 눈을 떠서 보게했다.
왕하 6:16 대답하되 두려워하지 말라 우리와 함께 한 자가 그들과 함께 한 자보다 많으니라 하고
분명한 것은 여러분들과 함께하시는 천군 천사가 가는 곳곳마다 놀라운 역사를 일으키게 될 줄로 믿는다. 이 시대를 살리는 사람들은 바로 여러분들 밖에 없다. 우리가 이것을 놓고 기도하게 될 때 하나님께서 분명히 증거를 주실 줄로 믿는다. 이번에 리더 수련회에 나오는 메세지를 확실히 붙잡아야겠다.
2) 해야할 증언
먼저 nobody에서 everybody의 축복을 누려야겠다. 아무에게서도 도움을 받을 수 없는 상황 가운데 있다고 할지라도 모든 사람을 살리는 증인의 축복을 받을 수 있다는 것이다. 나를 도와줄 사람이 아무도 없다면 그 때가 시작이라고 보면 되는 것이다. 요셉이 노예로 팔려갔다. 이 요셉에게는 아무도 도와줄 사람이 없었다. 창 37:36에 보게되면 요셉이 노예로 팔려간다. 노예로 팔려가는 요셉에게는 아무도 도와줄 사람이 없었다. 그런데 여기서 요셉은 하나님을 붙들었다. 바로 자기 본향의 원천되신 분을 잡았던 것이다. 결국 하나님께서는 바로도 살리고 애굽도 살리고 세계도 살리고 자기 집안도 살리는 에브리바디를 살리는 축복 속으로 들어갔다. 이것이 누구에게 주어졌는가. 언약잡은 자에게 주어졌다. 그리고 nothing에서 everything의 축복을 받으시기 바란다. 우리가 이 증인이 되어야한다. 이 세상에는 아무것도 없다. 희망이라고는 없다. 너무나 참 세상이 더럽구나 하고 판단한다. 그럴 때가 가장 하나님께서 역사하실 최고의 기회라는 것이다. 실망시키는 사람들, 낙심시키는 모든 사람들을 살릴 기회가 이 때라는 것이다. 렘넌트들 이것을 분명히 잡으시기 바란다. 여러분 가는 곳 마다 실망되는 일, 낙심되는 일 너무나 많은 것이다. 그 사람들을 살리는 여러분 되시기 바란다. 요셉이 왜 노예로 갔는가. 왜 모세를 양자로 집어넣었는가. 왜 사무엘을 고아처럼 살게했는가. 그 환경을 만들어주신 것은 하나님이다. 하나님께서 계획을 이루시기 위해서. 그 계획 속으로 들어가니까 이들이 엄청난 축복 속으로 들어갔다. 렘넌트들이 받을 축복의 말씀인 줄로 믿는다.
결론
빌 3:20-21 그러나 우리의 시민권은 하늘에 있는지라 거기로부터 구원하는 자 곧 주 예수 그리스도를 기다리노니 21 그는 만물을 자기에게 복종하게 하실 수 있는 자의 역사로 우리의 낮은 몸을 자기 영광의 몸의 형체와 같이 변하게 하시리라
이 말씀은 반드시 성취된다. 조금만 지나면 나그네 삶이 지나면 상상할 수 없는 영광스렁누 존재로 바뀌게된다. 하나님 앞에 가장 존귀한 존재로 그 앞에 서게된다. 정말 하나님 앞에 상급을 바라보면서 믿음의 조상처럼 믿음의 삶을 살기를 예수님의 이름으로 축원한다.
