“13 여호와께서 용사 같이 나가시며 전사 같이 분발하여 외쳐 크게 부르시며 그 대적을 크게 치시리로다 14 내가 오랫동안 조용하며 잠잠하고 참았으나 내가 해산하는 여인 같이 부르짖으리니 숨이 차서 심히 헐떡일 것이라 15 내가 산들과 언덕들을 황폐하게 하며 그 모든 초목들을 마르게 하며 강들이 섬이 되게 하며 못들을 마르게 할 것이며 16 내가 맹인들을 그들이 알지 못하는 길로 이끌며 그들이 알지 못하는 지름길로 인도하며 암흑이 그 앞에서 광명이 되게 하며 굽은 데를 곧게 할 것이라 내가 이 일을 행하여 그들을 버리지 아니하리니 17 조각한 우상을 의지하며 부어 만든 우상을 향하여 너희는 우리의 신이라 하는 자는 물리침을 받아 크게 수치를 당하리라 18 너희 못 듣는 자들아 들으라 너희 맹인들아 밝히 보라 19 맹인이 누구냐 내 종이 아니냐 누가 내가 보내는 내 사자 같이 못 듣는 자겠느냐 누가 내게 충성된 자 같이 맹인이겠느냐 누가 여호와의 종 같이 맹인이겠느냐 20 네가 많은 것을 볼지라도 유의하지 아니하며 귀가 열려 있을지라도 듣지 아니하는도다 21 여호와께서 그의 의로 말미암아 기쁨으로 교훈을 크게 하며 존귀하게 하려 하셨으나 22 이 백성이 도둑 맞으며 탈취를 당하며 다 굴 속에 잡히며 옥에 갇히도다 노략을 당하되 구할 자가 없고 탈취를 당하되 되돌려 주라 말할 자가 없도다 23 너희 중에 누가 이 일에 귀를 기울이겠느냐 누가 뒤에 올 일을 삼가 듣겠느냐 24 야곱이 탈취를 당하게 하신 자가 누구냐 이스라엘을 약탈자들에게 넘기신 자가 누구냐 여호와가 아니시냐 우리가 그에게 범죄하였도다 그들이 그의 길로 다니기를 원하지 아니하며 그의 교훈을 순종하지 아니하였도다 25 그러므로 여호와께서 맹렬한 진노와 전쟁의 위력을 이스라엘에게 쏟아 부으시매 그 사방에서 불타오르나 깨닫지 못하며 몸이 타나 마음에 두지 아니하는도다.” (이사야 42:13-25)

여러분들에게 한가지 질문을 해보겠다. 이런 경험이 있으신지 모르겠다. 헌금을 하시거나 헌신을 하시거나 증여를 했을때 너무 기쁜 마음이 들어 밤에 잠에 이르지 못한 경험이 있으신가? 그런 헌신의 경험을 한후에 여러분들이 기쁨이나 행복감을 느껴보신적 있으신가? 저는 이제껏 살아오면서 하나님께 드리면서 행복하다 라는 마음을 느낀적이 몇번 있었다. 지난주에 우리가 공동의회를 하고 갔을때 집에 돌아가 저녁에 잠이 오지 않았다. 뭔가 기분이 좋고 들떠 잠이 오지 않는데 왜 그럴까 생각했다. 가만히 생각해보니 오늘 공동의회가 통과 되어서 그렇구나 했다. 그래서 하나님께 감사의 기도를 했다. 또 감사 기도 하는데 얼마나 하나님께서 행복감과 기쁨을 주시는지 모른다. 저는 그렇게 차오르는 감격에 성령께서 아주 기뻐하시는구나 확신의 마음이 들었다. 저는 항상 이 교회에 와서 십일조나 헌금 드릴때 하나님께 정말 감사하며 드린다. 내 생명을 주관하시고 모든것을 주관하시는 하나님, 오늘도 이 귀한 예물을 하나님께 드릴수있도록 축복해주심을 감사합니다 기도한다. 해리하인즈를 지나가다보면 홈리스들을 마주치는데 그때마다 $1 씩이라도 꼭 준다. 그러면 그 사람이 나를 향해 God bless! 하며 축복해준다. 그럴때는 속으로 Amen 하고 간다. 이 사람이 어디에 쓸지는 모르지만 복된 돈이 되기를 기도하며 준다. 이번에 공동의회 결정한것은 정말 하나님께서 기뻐하실 일이다. 행 20:35에 예수님께서 말씀 하셨다, “주 예수께서 친히 말씀하신 바 주는 것이 받는 것보다 복이 있다 하심을 기억하여야 할지니라.” 우리 교회가 이렇게 RU 통해 헌신하게 된것도 하나님께서 기쁘신 마음으로 여러분들 통해 일을 이루시고 성취시키시려는 뜻임을 믿는다. 이것은 또한 우리가 주님을 살아계신 하나님으로 알고 있기 때문에 가능한 일들인줄 믿는다. 여러분의 평생의 하나님께서 큰 은혜를 베풀어주실줄을 믿는다. 항상 살아계신 하나님과 교제하며 말씀 듣고 기도 해야한다. 여러분들에게 큰 축복이 임하게 될줄을 믿는다.
1.찬양 받으실 하나님 God who is to be praised
1) 하나님의 종의 사역 The ministy of God's servant
사 Isaiah 42:13-14
오늘 말씀은 같이읽었지만 아주 귀중한 메시지가 있다. 지난 시간에 나의 종, 하나님이 붙드시는 당신의 종을 통해 큰 일을 이루시겠다 들었다. 그 종을 통해 온 백성이 구원받고 찬송올리게 될것이다 했다. 그러면서 오늘 13절 말씀에, “여호와께서 용사 같이 나가시며 전사 같이 분발하여 외쳐 크게 부르시며 그 대적을 크게 치시리로다” 라고 나온다. 지금 하나님께서 친히 용사같이 분발하여 외쳐 크게 부르시며 그 대적을 크게 치시겠다 선포하시는 것이다. 역사적으로 보면, 바벨론을 완전히 멸망 시키겠다 라고 예고 하시는것이다. 그런데 14절에 이상한 말씀이 나온다, “내가 오랫동안 조용하며 잠잠하고 참았으나 내가 해산하는 여인 같이 부르짖으리니 숨이 차서 심히 헐떡일 것이라”. 하나님께서 지금 대적을 물리치신다 하며 하시는 말씀이, 마치 산모가 평상시에 조용하다가 해산할때 부르짖고 숨이 차 헐떡이는 모습처럼 된다 하시는것이다. 이 말씀은 하나님께서 당신의 뜻을 이루시는데 해산의 고통이 있을것이라는것을 의미한다. 예수님께서 해산의 고통을 느끼시며 이 일을 성취하실것임을 나타낸다. 그러니까 마태복음 27:50에 보면, 예수께서 크게 소리를 지르고 영혼이 떠나가시느니라 되어있다. 예수님께서 돌아가실때 고통이 어땠는지를 나타내는것이다. 큰 소리를 지르시며 영혼이 떠나갔다고 기록되어있는데 이사야서에서 해산의 고통으로 비유된것이다. 이것은 무엇을 상징하나. 새생명을 얻기 위한 해산의 고통을 받으시며 주님께서 돌아가셨구나. 근데 13절 말씀에 “용사 같이 나가시며 전사 같이 분발하여 외쳐 크게 부르시며 그 대적을 크게 치시리로다” 라고 했는데 해산의 고통이 갑자기 왜 나오나 이것이다. 중요한 영적 비밀이 있다. 예수그리스도의 십자가의 죽음은 우리 원수 마귀 사단이 멸망 받는 순간을 말하는것이다. 다시 말씀 드리면, 예수님의 죽으심을 통해 새생명을 얻게되는 순간인것이다. 참 놀라운 말씀이다. 여자들이 겪는 가장 큰 고통이 해산의 고통 아닌가. 주님께서는 그런 고통을 받으시며 우리를 위해 십자가에 못박혀 죽으시며 우리에게 새생명을 주셨다.
2) 하나님의 준비 God's preparation
사 Isaiah 42:15-17
눅 Luke 3:4-5
마 Matthew 3:1-2
15절 말씀 보면, 바벨론을 심판하는 방법이 나온다, “내가 산들과 언덕들을 황폐하게 하며 그 모든 초목들을 마르게 하며 강들이 섬이 되게 하며 못들을 마르게 할 것이며”. 여기서 산, 언덕, 초목이 나온다. 이것은 바벨론이 얼마나 잘 사는 나라였는지, 그의 풍요함 을 나타낸다. 그것이 완전 마르도록 만들겠다 하는것이다. 강이 섬이 되고 못들이 마르게 한다 나와있다. 이 말은 생명을 거두어버리시겠다 하는 말씀이다. 그들이 넓고 큰 영토를 자랑했으나 하나님께서 그것을 마치 사막과 같이 황폐하게 하겠다 그 말씀이다. 실질적으로 역사적으로 그렇게 되었다.왜 이렇게 말씀하시나. 내 백성들이 포로에서 돌아오게 하기 위해 모든 장애물을 제하시겠다는 말씀이다. 실질적으로 강들이 섬이 되고 그런 일은 없다. 하지만 그것은 무엇을 상징하나–영적인 의미로 그리스도의 일을 상징하는것이다. 누가복음 3:4-5말씀 보면, “선지자 이사야의 책에 쓴 바 광야에서 외치는 자의 소리가 있어 이르되 너희는 주의 길을 준비하라 그의 오실 길을 곧게 하라 5 모든 골짜기가 메워지고 모든 산과 작은 산이 낮아지고 굽은 것이 곧아지고 험한 길이 평탄하여질 것이요.” 누가가 누가복음을 쓰면서 이사야가 예언했던것이 그 당시 일을 말하는것이 아닌 실제로 예수님이 오실일, 영적인 의미에 대해 말하고있는것이다. 골짜기가 메워지고 산과 작은 산이 낮아지고 실제로 그러지 않았다. 예수님 오셔서 산이 없어진적은 없다. 이것은 영적인 준비를 의미하는것을 알수있다. 마 3:1-2에 그것이 나온다, “그 때에 세례 요한이 이르러 유대 광야에서 전파하여 말하되 2 회개하라 천국이 가까이 왔느니라 하였으니.” 인간의 모든 문제, 말하며 회개하라, 천국이 가까웠다 하는것이다. 16절에 말씀한다, “내가 맹인들을 그들이 알지 못하는 길로 이끌며 그들이 알지 못하는 지름길로 인도하며 암흑이 그 앞에서 광명이 되게 하며 굽은 데를 곧게 할 것이라 내가 이 일을 행하여 그들을 버리지 아니하리니”. 이스라엘 백성들을 맹인이라 표현하고있다. 근데 그 맹인들이, 유다백성들이 전혀 몰랐던 길로 인도해 흑암에서 빛으로 인도한다 라는 말이다. 역사적으로는 그런 일이 일어나지 않았다. 그런데 그게 무슨말이냐 하면, 예수님께서 눈먼 인간들, 영적 세계를 모르고 흑암에 잡힌 인간들을 흑암에서 나와 생명의 빛으로 인도하시겠다 하는 말이다. 유대인 뿐만 아니라 많은 이방인들이 예수님을 만나 생명이 구원받게 되는것을 말한다. 이것은 전혀 몰랐던 길이다. 지금 우리가 구원받는 방법이 예전에는 없던 방법이다, 예수 그리스도를 믿고 영접 만 하면 자녀가 된다. 흑암에 있던 자녀들이 예수 그리스도의 생명을 소유하는 자가 되는것이다. 그가 와서 이런 길을 너희들에게 열어줄것이다 하는것을 말한다. 참 놀랍다. 구약 성경에 얼마나 자세히 설명하고 있는지 모른다. 17절에 말씀 하신다, “조각한 우상을 의지하며 부어 만든 우상을 향하여 너희는 우리의 신이라 하는 자는 물리침을 받아 크게 수치를 당하리라”. 너희들 정말로 정신 차려라, 헛된짓을 하지 말아라 하는 말이다. 우상에 빠진 자들아, 회개하고 돌아오라 하는 말씀이다.
2. 이스라엘의 영적상태 Israel's spiritual state
1) 깨닫지 못하는 이스라엘 Israel doesn't realize what they're doing
사 Isaiah 42:18-22
그들이 가진 문제가 18절에 나온다, “너희 못 듣는 자들아 들으라 너희 맹인들아 밝히 보라”. 지금 포로에 잡혀간 이스라엘의 문제들은 못 듣고 보지 못하는 자들이라는 것이다. 이 말은 하나님을 예배 하는것에 실패한 자들이라는 말이다. 이렇듯 말씀과 예배에 실패하면 누구든지 못듣고 못보는 연약한 인간에 그칠수 밖에 없다. 바로 이스라엘 백성들이 그러했다는것이다. 19절 말씀에 나온다, “맹인이 누구냐 내 종이 아니냐 누가 내가 보내는 내 사자 같이 못 듣는 자겠느냐 누가 내게 충성된 자 같이 맹인이겠느냐 누가 여호와의 종 같이 맹인이겠느냐”. 맹인이 누구냐, 여호와의 종이 아니냐, 여호와의 종은 왕이나 선지자를 말하는것이다. 충성된 종은 제사장이라고 볼수가 있다. 이들이 보지도 못하고 듣지도 못하는 기가막힌 상황이 온것이다. 20절에 이야기 한다, “네가 많은 것을 볼지라도 유의하지 아니하며 귀가 열려 있을지라도 듣지 아니하는도다” 하나님의 답답한 심정을 말하는것이다. 그들은 많은것을 다 보고 많은 경고의 말도 들었다. 그러나 전혀 동요하지 않은것이다. 그들을 위해 10가지 애굽에 재앙을 일으키고 홍해를 가르기까지 하셨다. 뿐만 아니라, 요단강도 건너게 하시고 여리고도 무너뜨리며 해와 달, 별도 멈추시고 하룻밤에 앗수르 군사 18만 5천을 무찌르기까지 하셨다. 그런데도 이들은 전혀 이 사실에 감격이 없는것이다. 하나님은 이 사실이 너무나 안타까우신것이다. 또 21절에 말씀 하신다, “여호와께서 그의 의로 말미암아 기쁨으로 교훈을 크게 하며 존귀하게 하려 하셨으나” 이스라엘 백성을 출애굽 시키시고 그들을 너무 사랑하셔서 율법이라는 놀라운 법을 주셨다. 제사장 나라로 만들기 위해서 존귀하게 만드시어 축복된 존재로 만드시는것을 볼수있다. 내가 너를 통해 세계복음화 할거야, 온세상 살릴거니 정말 말씀 붙들고 나아가라, 그 나머지는 내가 다 하겠다 말씀하시는것이다. 다른 어떤 백성도 가지지 못한 신분과 권세를 이스라엘에게 주신것이다.
2) 잘못된 각인 Incorrect imprint
사 Isaiah 42:23-25

그런데 22절에 보시기 바란다, “이 백성이 도둑 맞으며 탈취를 당하며 다 굴 속에 잡히며 옥에 갇히도다 노략을 당하되 구할 자가 없고 탈취를 당하되 되돌려 주라 말할 자가 없도다”, 하나님께서 어마어마한 신분과 권세, 축복 다 주셨음애도 다 도둑맞고 탈취를 당했다 이 말이다. 또 굴속에 잡히고 옥에 갇히는 이상한 일을당하는것이다. 바로 영적인 포로된 상태를 말하는것이다. 이것은 남 이야기가 아니다. 지금도 하나님 떠난 자들은 잘 사는것 같지만 현실은 감옥살이를 하고 굴속에 사는것과 같다. 사람들이 왜 그런지도 모르고 감옥속에 살면서도 그게 좋은줄 알고 산다. 왜 그렇나. 23절에 나온다, “너희 중에 누가 이 일에 귀를 기울이겠느냐 누가 뒤에 올 일을 삼가 듣겠느냐”. 그들은 전혀 자신들이 왜 멸망을 당하며 어려움을 당하고 슬픔을 겪게되는지 전혀 모르는것이다. 앞으로 벌어질 일도 전혀 예상하지 못한다. 깨닫는 자도 없고 그에 대해 생각하는 자도 없다. 하나님께서 너무나 답답하신것이다. 24절 보시기 바란다, “야곱이 탈취를 당하게 하신 자가 누구냐 이스라엘을 약탈자들에게 넘기신 자가 누구냐 여호와가 아니시냐 우리가 그에게 범죄하였도다 그들이 그의 길로 다니기를 원하지 아니하며 그의 교훈을 순종하지 아니하였도다”. 이들이 도무지 왜 이 일이 일어나는지 전혀 알지 못하니 주님께서 친히 말씀하시는것이다. 너희를 누가 이렇게 만들었는지 아느냐, 나 여호와가 그러했다. 그 이유를 너희가 아느냐? 너희들이 범죄했기 때문이다. “그들이 그의 길로 다니기를 원하지 아니하며 그의 교훈을 순종하지 아니하였도다” 이 죄에 붙잡히게 되면 그 죄가 그 사람의 마음과 생각을 주장하게 되어 무능하고 무지한 자가 되어버린다. 죄가 깊이 각인되어 버리면 내가 감옥소에 있다는 사실조차 모른다. 감옥소에 있는 사람들은 삼시세끼 밥 얻어먹는것이 행복이다. 여기서 잘 먹고 잘 사는것이 중요한것이다. 갇혀있으면서도 전혀 감각이 없는것이다. 25절, “그러므로 여호와께서 맹렬한 진노와 전쟁의 위력을 이스라엘에게 쏟아 부으시매 그 사방에서 불타오르나 깨닫지 못하며 몸이 타나 마음에 두지 아니하는도다.” 사방에서 불이 타게 만들고 하는것이다. 죄에 각인 되어있고 흑암에 잡힌 자들은 꼼짝 못하고 당한다. 이것이 죄인지 고통인지도 모른채, 그저 운명이지 하며 산다. 많은 불신자들이 타고난 팔자를 어떻게 하나, 그냥 그대로 살아야지 하며 포기하며 산다. 예수님 오실때도 이러한 상황이 있었다. 눅 13:34, “예루살렘아 예루살렘아 선지자들을 죽이고 네게 파송된 자들을 돌로 치는 자여 암탉이 제 새끼를 날개 아래에 모음 같이 내가 너희의 자녀를 모으려 한 일이 몇 번이냐 그러나 너희가 원하지 아니하였도다.” 예수님께서 그렇게 말씀하신것이, 죽은자 까지 살리는 어마어마한 기적을 일으켜도 감흥이 없는것이다. 결국 예수님을 잡아 십자가에 못박혀 죽게 만들었다. 그일로 그들이 망하고 그들의 후손까지 2,000년 동안 고통받게 되었다. 오늘 말씀이 이사야 당시, 예수님 오셨을 당시 일 뿐만 아니라 지금도 똑같이 적용된다.
3. 우리 교회가 받을 응답 Answers for our church
1) 기도의 망대의 축복 The blessing of the bartizan of prayer
창 Genesis 39:3
살전 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
행 Acts 19:21
그렇다면 이 사실을 알고 우리가 해야 할 우리의 사명은 무엇인가 하는것이다. 우리 교회가 받을 응답을 여러분께서 확실히 잡으시길 바란다. 망대에 대한 축복을 우리가 계속 붙잡고 있다. 공동의회 통해 우리가 받을 응답이 확실히 보이기 시작한것이다. 오늘 들은 말씀을 언약으로 확실히 잡으시길 바란다. 망대의 축복 받아야겠다. 기도의 망대가 뭔가. 응답부터 내가 받는것이다. 창 39:3에 요셉의 이야기다, “그 주인이 여호와께서 그와 함께하심을 보며 또 여호와께서 그의 범사에 형통케 하심을 보았더라.” 요셉의 모든 축복은 이미 받고있었다 이 말이다. 하나님께서 함께 하심을 보디발이 보고 알았다. 다시 말하면 요셉은 노예의 신분임에도 보좌의 축복과 능력을 누리고 있었던것이다. 여러분들은 이 보좌의 축복과 능력 이미 누리고 있을줄 믿는다. 이 보좌의 능력과 축복 붙들고 정시기도 하시라. 정시기도 어떻게 하나. 살전5:16-18, “항상 기뻐하라. 17 쉬지 말고 기도하라. 18 범사에 감사하라 이것이 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희를 향하신 하나님의 뜻이니라.” 보좌의 축복을 누리며 정시기도 하실때 행복을 느끼게 된다. 실제로 나에게 일어나는 보좌의 축복을 누릴수 있는 능력과 기쁨을 누려야한다. 하나도 기쁨이 없이 하는것이 아니다, 정말로 누리게 되면 기쁨과 감사가 나타난다. 이 행복을 누리시기를 바란다. 그리고 이제부터 기도제목 붙잡으시라. 미국 살릴 망대를 만드시라. 어떻게 만드나. 행 19:21 처럼 하시라, “이 일이 있은 후에 바울이 마게도냐와 아가야를 거쳐 예루살렘에 가기로 작정하여 이르되 내가 거기 갔다가 후에 로마도 보아야 하리라 하고.” 하나님 나에게 이 달라스를, 텍사스를 붙여주소서. 미국을 제 손에 맡겨주소서, 기도만 하시라. 이 기도 누리고 있을때 자연적으로 파수꾼의 축복이 임할것이다.
2) 망대를 세우는 파수꾼 Watchmen who raise the bartizan
나의 운명이 바뀐다(고후5:17) Your fate changes (2 Corinthians 5:17)
현장의 운명이 바뀐다(행16:15) The fate of the field changes (Acts 16:15)
텍사스의 운명이 바뀐다(행28:31) The fate of Texas changes (Acts 28:31)
그렇게 되면 파수꾼이 누릴 놀라운 축복 누리며 응답을 받게 될것이다. 그러면 그 기도속에 받을 축복이 젤 첫번째로는 나의 운명이 바뀌는것이다. 여러분들이 우리가 공동의회 치루고 난 이 시점 이후로 모든 생각을 바꾸기 바란다. 나는 더이상 과거의 사람이 아닌 새로운 사람이다 바꾸시라. 고전 5:17, “그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라 이전 것은 지나 갔으니 보라 새 것이 되었도다.” 이 말씀 분명히 잡으시라. 여러분 운명이 바뀌고 또 현장의 운명이 바뀌게된다. 이 방향 잡을때 현장의 운명도 바뀌게 된다. 루디아가 받은 축복이 여러분에게 임할줄 믿는다. 행 16:15, “그와 그 집이 다 세례를 받고 우리에게 청하여 이르되 만일 나를 주 믿는 자로 알거든 내 집에 들어와 유하라 하고 강권하여 머물게 하니라.” 불신자 집안, 복음을 모르는 집안이었다. 그 복음을 붙잡는 순간에 그의 집이 교회가 되고 미션홈이 되고 지교회가 된것이다. 루디아를 통해 빌립보가 살아나는 역사가 일어난것이다. 여러분 가정과 사업장 통해 이러한 역사가 일어날줄 믿는다. 이것은 우리가 받을 축복이다. RU 가 오게 되면 텍사스의 운명이 바뀌게 될줄 믿는다. 믿으시는가. 이것을 나의 언약으로 잡으시라. 어떻게 바뀌나, 행 28:31, “하나님의 나라를 전파하며 주 예수 그리스도에 관한 모든 것을 담대하게 거침없이 가르치더라.” 모든 생명을 살릴 거침없는 복음의 문이 열릴줄 믿는다. 이것은 내 생각으로 하는것이 아닌 하나님께서 언약으로 주신 말씀이다. 분명히 이 말씀 그대로 여러분들에게 나타날것임을 믿는다. 이 축복 받으시기를 바란다.
결론 Conclusion
마 Matthew 5:16
말씀 맺겠다. 마 5:16, “이같이 너희 빛이 사람 앞에 비치게 하여 그들로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라.” 기도의 망대를 붙잡고 빛을 발하기 시작하면 하나님께서 예비하신 사명자, 절대제자를 여러분들에게 붙이실줄 믿는다. 오늘 4월 첫주가 여러분과 우리 교회가 새로 시작하는 날로 붙잡으시기를 바란다. 언약 붙잡는다면 살아계신 하나님께서 그대로 행하실줄을 믿는다.
God's Plan for His Servants to Fulfill (Isaiah 42:13-25)

“13 The Lord shall go forth like a mighty man; He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war. He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud; He shall prevail against His enemies. 14 ‘I have held My peace a long time, I have been still and restrained Myself. Now I will cry like a woman in labor, I will pant and gasp at once. 15 I will lay waste the mountains and hills, And dry up all their vegetation; I will make the rivers coastlands, And I will dry up the pools. 16 I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, And crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, And not forsake them. 17 They shall be turned back, They shall be greatly ashamed, Who trust in carved images, Who say to the molded images, 'You are our gods.’ ’ 18 ‘Hear, you deaf; And look, you blind, that you may see. 19 Who is blind but My servant, Or deaf as My messenger whom I send? Who is blind as he who is perfect, And blind as the Lord's servant? 20 Seeing many things, but you do not observe; Opening the ears, but he does not hear.’ 21 The Lord is well pleased for His righteousness' sake; He will exalt the law and make it honorable. 22 But this is a people robbed and plundered; All of them are snared in holes, And they are hidden in prison houses; They are for prey, and no one delivers; For plunder, and no one says, ‘Restore!’ 23 Who among you will give ear to this? Who will listen and hear for the time to come? 24 Who gave Jacob for plunder, and Israel to the robbers? Was it not the Lord, He against whom we have sinned? For they would not walk in His ways, Nor were they obedient to His law. 25 Therefore He has poured on him the fury of His anger And the strength of battle; It has set him on fire all around, Yet he did not know; And it burned him, Yet he did not take it to heart.”
Introduction
I would like to ask you a question and I am not sure how quickly you can think of this but have you been so happy to serve God and gave offerings to church that you couldn’t sleep at night? Have you ever experienced happiness and joy because of your servitude towards your church and offering to God? All of the devotion and servitude that I have given to God, there have been a couple of times where I have been very joyful because of that. After we made a decision as a church, I couldn’t fall asleep at night. I was so happy but I was wondering why I was so happy, and I couldn’t fall asleep at night. I thought carefully and I realized that it was because we consented as a church regarding an agreement. With that, I gave thanksgiving prayer to God. As I was giving thanksgiving prayer to God, God gave me great joy and happiness. From that, I was so moved that the Holy Spirit was so happy with this. Whenever I give an offering to God, I always give it with a heart of thanksgiving. I give thanksgiving to God who is the Almighty and Creator God. Whenever I see homeless people, I always give them money. The homeless people always bless me and say to me, “God bless you.” Then, I reply with an “Amen.” I am not sure if they say that with meaning and I don’t know what they do with that money but I pray that they may be blessed. I pray that our agreement as a church, I pray that we can please God. Jesus spoke here in Acts 20:35 “I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” - With our church partaking in the construction of the Remnant University (RU) at our church, I truly believe it was all God’s doing and God will pour great blessings in our church because of our servitude. This is because we truly believe that God is alive and God has allowed all of this to happen. I pray that God will pour down great blessings for the rest of your lives. May we continue to have fellowship with the living, true God.
1. God Who is to be Praised
1) The ministry of God's servant
Verses 13-14 - Last week we spoke about how God promised to do great works through His servant. Through Jesus Christ, all people will be saved, and people will praise and worship God. God will cry out aloud and stir up His zeal like a warrior; this means that God will destroy Babylon.
But verse 14 said something interesting. God said that He will stir up His zeal and cry out aloud like a mother in labor. God said that He will conquer Babylon in this way. This means that in order to fulfill all of this but there will be suffering and pain as a result. This means that in order to fulfill His work, Jesus will suffer and be in pain.
Matthew 27:50 “And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.” - When Jesus was passing away, He experienced so much agony and pain that this pain was compared to the pain of a woman in labor. This means that in order to give new life, Jesus had to suffer in pain and agony.
Verses 13-14 - It says that God was an almighty warrior but now He is compared to a woman in labor; why was this said this way? In order to destroy Satan, Jesus had to die on the cross and through this, He was able to give new life. This is astounding. When women are in labor, they are in so much pain and agony. When Jesus experienced pain and agony on the cross, He was able to give us new life.
2) God's preparation
Verses 15-17 - It speaks about mountains and hills, and all of this is speaking of Babylon’s abundance in their land. But God made all of that dry up. It also speaks of rivers but God said that He will dry up their waters. This means that God will take the life out of Babylon. Their great abundance, Babylon always boasted about it but God said that He will take them away and make them into a desert in an instant. Why did God say all of this? In order to free Israel from slavery and allow them to come back to their homeland, God had to clear a pathway for them to return. But if you look in the geographical history, there were no deserts formed, this means that this all has a spiritual meaning.
Luke 3:4-5 “As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying: 'The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make His paths straight. 5 Every valley shall be filled And every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough ways smooth.' ' ” - It was written in the book of Luke but it was speaking of the coming of the Messiah. These may speak of geographical changes but none of this happens, these were all spiritual meanings. This means that the spiritual preparations were taking place for the coming of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 3:1-2 “In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, 2 and saying, 'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!' ” - In order to solve the problems of mankind, John the Baptist was telling people to repent.
Verse 16 - The Israelites were being described as blind, which means that they were bound by darkness. God was saying that He will lead them by His light. This means that God will lead His people out of darkness who are bound by spiritual blindness. This doesn’t just speak about the Israelites but God was also speaking to the Gentiles. This was a path that they didn’t know at all. This means that when you accept Christ, then you will be saved and enter into the light of life. This is what it means when God said that He will show them the light. Isaiah showed a great description of all of this in the book of Isaiah.
Verse 17 - Isaiah was telling them to come back to their senses and don’t fall into unnecessary things. God was warning them not to worship idols and to repent.
2. Israel's Spiritual State
1) Israel doesn't realize what they're doing
Verses 18-22 - The problem that the Israelites had, it is written in verse 18 - The Israelites who were in slavery, the problem was that they couldn’t hear and see. Why was that? They were failing in worship. When we fail in worship, then we will become spiritually blind and deaf, and we will be in agony. This was the state that Israelites were in.
Who is blind? The servants of God. Who were these people? The kings and prophets; these were the people who called themselves priests of God. They have become spiritually blind and deaf. This shows the frustrating heart of God. The Israelites received everything and heard it all but they weren’t moved with the word of God at all. They even saw the great 10 miracles and the Red Sea splitting. They crossed the Jordan River, saw the Jericho wall breaking down, and the sun and moon stopping. They even experienced the answer of God killing all 185,000 Assyrian soldiers but they were moved at all from all of this and showed no response. God said all of this was so unfortunate.
Verse 21 - God loved the Israelites so much that He gave them His law. In order to raise up Jerusalem and His priests, God gave them great blessings and abundance. Through them, God promised that He will do world evangelism and save the entire world.
No other nation received this blessing except Israel from God but in verse 22 - God gave them all of the blessings and His grace but they were robbed of all of this. Strange things happened to them like they were enslaved and plundered of their goods; this means that they became spiritually captivated. This doesn’t just speak about the Israelites but all people are living lives like slaves and in prisons. People don’t know that they are living like this, and think that all of this is okay and thinking that they are living a happy life.
2) Incorrect imprint
Verses 23-25 - People of this world don’t know why they are suffering and experiencing so many problems. They also don’t know what will happen to their future and are unaware of their fate and destiny. It says that there is none who will realize this. This shows the frustrating heart of God.
Verse 24 - These people don’t know the reason for their suffering and they were pleading to God. God was asking who did all of this to them and God said that He did all of this to them. God said that He did all of this to them because they kept sinning against Him. Even though God told them this, they still didn’t follow God and His ways. When you get caught by sin, then that sin will capture your heart and mind and it will make you completely controlled and powerless to the point where you don’t even know that you are being imprisoned. Those who are in prison, they even think that eating is the best thing to them. The only happiness that they obtain is from their food and everything else is lost to them.
That is why God said in verse 25 - Those who in idol worship and sin, God poured down His wrath and fury upon them. He made them burn but they still couldn’t realize and understand. This was so unfortunate. They were in sin and destruction but they can’t distinguish that this is the path of destruction and simply accept their fate. Non-believers accept this as part of their fate and continue to live in suffering.
When Jesus came to Earth, this was the state that people were living in. Luke 13:34 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!” - Jesus continued to speak to them and showed them great miracles but nothing changed. No one could realize and understand. This showed the great frustration of Jesus. Instead of realizing, they captured Jesus and killed Him. This caused the great destruction and suffering to come upon their descendants for 2,000 years. This doesn’t just apply to the past but this is happening even now. If that is so, if we know this truth, then what must be our mission?
3. Answers for our Church
1) The blessing of the bartizan of prayer
Hold onto the answer that we must receive as a church. We have been holding onto the covenant of the bartizan. Through our consensual agreement as a church, we have received this answer from God. We must hold onto this answer. We must receive the answer and blessing of the bartizan.
The bartizan of prayer; we must receive an answer first. Genesis 39:3 “When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did.” - Joseph received all the blessings already. Joseph was enjoying Immanuel and Potiphar was able to see this. In other words, even though Joseph was in prison and slavery, he was able to enjoy the blessing of the triune and throne of God. We have already received the blessing of God’s throne. Hold onto the blessing of God’s throne and enter into scheduled prayer.
How do we do scheduled prayer? Hold onto 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” - When we do scheduled prayer while enjoying the throne of God, then God will give us great power and happiness. We are able to give thanksgiving as a result as well. Hold onto this as your prayer topic.
Make the bartizan to save America. How do we make this? Acts 19:21 “When these things were accomplished, Paul purposed in the Spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, 'After I have been there, I must also see Rome.' ” - Attach America, Texas, and Dallas to me. Entrust these regions to me, God. Pray this prayer. If you pray this prayer, then God will attach great disciples in your life and become a watchtower for your fields. And you will be able to receive great blessings.
2) Watchmen who raise the bartizan
Your fate changes (2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”) - If you are able to enjoy the answer of being a bartizan, your fate will change. We must start anew. With this new change at our church, we must start anew. Hold onto this. When you fate changes, the fate of your fields will change as a result. Hold onto this as your direction then your field will change.
May Lydia’s answer come upon your life. The fate of the field changes (Acts 16:15 “And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, 'If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” So she persuaded us.' ”) - She was in a household of nonbelievers and she was a nonbeliever. The moment she accepted Christ, her house became a mission home, a regional church, and a household that did the gospel movement. Through her house, the entire region of Philippi was saved. May these great answers come upon your life, business, and fields.
The fate of Texas changes (Acts 28:31 “Preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.”) - When RU comes to Dallas and our church, the fate of Dallas will change. Believe in this. Find your covenant within this. This will be a door for world evangelism to start. This will not be done with our own doing but this is God’s word being fulfilled in our lives. What is absolute is that God’s word will be fulfilled in our lives exactly as God said it will be.
Conclusion
Hold onto Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” - Become the watchtower of prayer and God will attach disciples to you. May this month be a month where our church and we can start anew in God. Those who hold onto God’s covenant, God will work in your lives.
