너는 내게 부르짖으라 (렘33:2-3)

서론

제가 이 송구영신 예배 말씀을 준비하면서 한 해를 생각할 때 참 하나님께서 주신 은혜를 감사했다. 생각해보면 부족하고 연약한데 하나님께서 끊임없이 함께하시고 동행하시면서 은혜를 베풀어주셨다. 그리고 올 처음서부터 지금 연말까지를 쭉 보게되면 갈 수록 마음에 평강을 주시는 것을 느끼게 된다. 굉장히 마음이 편안하다. 제가 생각난 것이 옛날에 봤던 주님의 발자국이라는 내용이었다. 같이 음미해보는 시간을 가지면 좋겠다. 한 사람이 고민을 했다. 하나님이 진정 나와 함께 계시는가. 늘 고민에 빠져있었다. 그러다가 어느날 아주 깊은 심각한 문제에 빠졌다. 어려운 문제에 빠졌는데 하나님의 응답은 없고 혼자만 있다는 생각이 들었다. 너무나 힘든 시기를 지냈다. 하나님이 나와 함께하지 않으신다고 생각했다. 그런데 어느 날 꿈을 꾸게 되었다. 꿈에 예수님과 함께 바닷가를 걸었다. 주님이 너무 반가워서 주님을 쳐다보면서 저와 함께하셨습니까 물어봤다. 주님께서 돌아보시면서 지금까지 너와 내가 항상 함께있었다 하고 대답하셨다. 그러면서 네가 지나온 길을 돌아보라고 했다. 돌아보니까 둘이 걸어온 발자국이 보였다. 그런데 자세히 보니까 어떤 때는 둘이 같이 걸어가는데 어떤 때는 한 사람만 걸아간 발자국이 보였다. 자기가 가장 어려움을 당할 때는 발자국이 한 개만 있었다. 그래서 물었다. 제가 가장 어려웠을 때는 함께 계시지 않았군요. 그 때 주님께서 저 발자국은 네 발자국이 아니고 바로 내 발자국이란다 하셨다. 네가 하도 고통스러워해서 내가 업고 걸었단다 하셨다. 주님은 그 사람을 한 번도 떠난 적이 없었다는 것이다. 참 그런거 같다. 우리는 주님이 안계신 것 같다. 혼자서만 세상을 살아가는 것 같다. 그런데 우리는 생각은 그렇게 했는지 몰라도 주님께서는 늘 한번도 떠나지 않으시고 함께하셨다. 우리가 이것을 내 신앙과 확신으로 갖고있다면 무슨 일이 있더라도 걱정이 없을 것이다. 특히 감사한 것은 우리가 가장 어렵고 힘들 때는 주님께서 우리를 업고 계시다는 사실을 잊지 마시기 바란다. 그 때는 주님께서 특별히 여러분을 사랑하시고 보호해주시는 순간인 줄로 믿는다. 저는 이 예화가 마음에 확 들어왔다. 결코 주님은 저를 떠난 적이 없으셨다. 제가 여태까지 어려운 일도 많이 있었지만 생각해보면 그 때 정말 함께하셨던 것을 느끼게되었다. 그렇다면 장래의 일은 걱정할 것이 하나도 없다. 여러분이 아무리 어려운 일을 당하더라도 전혀 걱정할 필요가 없다. 이 믿음으로 승리하시기 바란다. 이 한 해 주님께서 특별한 은혜가운데 늘 동행하실 줄로 믿는다.

1. 본문의 배경

(1) 멸망을 예언

오늘 본문에 이스라엘 백성들이 멸망당할 때의 사건을 읽었다. 이 배경이 이스라엘 백성들이 아주 여러움을 당했을 때이다. 하나님께서 이스라엘 백성들을 한 번도 떠나지 아니하셨는데 이스라엘 백성들은 하나님이 안계신 줄 알고 죄를 범하고 자꾸만 우상을 찾아다녔다. 이들이 일곱 번의 큰 어려움을 당하는데 하나님이 함께하지 않으신다고 생각하고 우상을 찾아갔기 때문이다. 오늘 본문은 극에 달할 정도의 불신앙 가운데 하신 말씀이다.

렘31:37 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 위에 있는 하늘을 측량할 수 있으며 밑에 있는 땅의 기초를 탐지할 수 있다면 내가 이스라엘 자손이 행한 모든 일로 말미암아 그들을 다 버리리라 여호와의 말씀이니라

이 말씀은 하늘을 누가 측량할 수 있겠냐는 것이다. 하나님 밖에 안계시다. 땅의 기초를 탐지할 분은 그 누구도 없다는 것이다. 오직 하나님만 하실 수 있다. 그 하나님이 내가 너희에게 말한다는 것이다. 너희들이 행한 악한 일 때문에 내가 너희를 버리겠다는 것이다. 내가 틀림없이 이 말씀을 이루겠다는 것이다. 이들이 얼마나 큰 죄를 지었는가.

렘 32:34-35 내 이름으로 일컫는 집에 자기들의 가증한 물건들을 세워서 그 집을 더럽게 하며 힌놈의 아들의 골짜기에 바알의 산당을 건축하였으며 자기들의 아들들과 딸들을 몰렉 앞으로 지나가게 하였느니라 그들이 이런 가증한 일을 행하여 유다로 범죄하게 한 것은 내가 명령한 것도 아니요 내 마음에 둔 것도 아니니라

이들은 예루살렘 성전에 우상을 세웠었다. 그리고 바알 신당을 세웠다. 자신들의 아들과 딸들을 태워서 몰렉신에게 바쳤다. 그러니까 하나님께서 진노에 진노를 하시면서 내가 너희들을 정말 멸망을 시키겠다 하시는 것이다. 렘 32:3-5에는 시드기야 왕, 마지막 왕은 바벨론 포로로 잡혀갈 것이라고 예언되어있다. 유다는 완전히 멸망당할 것이라고 하셨다. 이렇게 멸망시키겠다 하시면서 진노하시면서 말씀을 하시는데 그 말씀 가운데서도 사실은 이스라엘 백성들과 함께하셨던 것을 볼 수 있다. 인간은 화가 나면 원수가 되서 갈라져서 다시 보지 않는데 하나님은 그 진노 가운데서도 끝까지 보고 계셨다는 사실을 발견할 수 있다. 그것이 바로 오늘 본문에 나타난다.

(2) 말씀이 임함

렘33:2 일을 행하시는 여호와, 그것을 만들며 성취하시는 여호와, 그의 이름을 여호와라 하는 이가 이와 같이 이르시도다

일을 행하는 것은 내가 너희들 멸망시키는 것을 행하시고 있다는 것이다. 만들며 성취하시는 하나님은 창조주 하나님이시고 섭리의 하나님이시라는 것이다. 그 하나님께서 말씀하시기를 그 이름을 여호와라 하는 이가 이와 같이 이르시도다 하면서 이 백성들에게 말씀을 주시는 것을 볼 수 있다. 내가 너희들에게 멸망시킬 것이지만 이것은 멸망하기 전 이야기다. 앞으로 멸망시키지만 그러나 너희들을 통해 새로 시작하시겠다는 의지를 두고 말씀하시는 것이다.

렘32:37 보라 내가 노여움과 분함과 큰 분노로 그들을 쫓아 보내었던 모든 지방에서 그들을 모아들여 이 곳으로 돌아오게 하여 안전히 살게 할 것이라

지금 진노가 가득찬 하나님께서 심판하시겠다고 말씀하시면서 포로로 가기 전에 하신 말씀이다. 너희가 다 퍼져있지 않느냐 다 데리고 오겠다는 것이다. 얼마나 놀라운 사실인가. 내가 진노는 하지만 그러나 내 백성을 다시 데리고 오겠다는 것이다. 뿐만 아니다.

렘33:7 내가 유다의 포로와 이스라엘의 포로를 돌아오게 하여 그들을 처음과 같이 세울 것이며

지금 이 하나님의 백성이 유다의 포로와 이스라엘을 포로를 얘기한다. 솔로몬의 범죄함으로 인해서 북이스라엘과 남유다가 갈라졌다. 그래서 서로 원수처럼 싸우는 것이다. 그 이후에는 다시 하나가 되지 못했다. 흩어지고나서 하나님이 다시 부르시는데 하나로 부르시겠다는 것이다. 원네스로 부르시는 것이다. 처음과 같이 세우시겠다고 했다. 너희들이 형제니까 하나가 되야한다 말씀하시는 것이다.

사43:19 보라 내가 새 일을 행하리니 이제 나타낼 것이라 너희가 그것을 알지 못하겠느냐 반드시 내가 광야에 길을 사막에 강을 내리니

다시 불러서 새로운 시작을 하겠다는 것이다. 새로운 창조의 역사를 하겠다는 것이다. 너희들이 지금 어려움을 당하고 있느냐. 전혀 관계없다. 내가 늘 함께하고 있다는 것이다. 너희들이 포로로 잡혀간 곳에서도 함께한다는 것이다. 하나님의 놀라운 섭리가 있다. 지금 이것은 우리에게도 똑같이 적용된다. 우리에게 어떤 문제가 있다고 하더라도 결코 주님은 떠나시지 않는다. 우리에게 문제가 있다면 주님께서 새로 시작하시려는 축복이다. 일이 안되어질 때가 있다. 그것은 바로 기쁨의 시작이 될 것이다. 주님은 그것을 통해 깨닫게 하시는게 있기 때문이다. 깨닫기만 하면 다 회복시키겠다는 것이다. 주님은 한 번도 떠난 적이 없으시기 때문이다. 우리를 인도하시면서 깨닫게 하시고 돌아오게 하신다. 이것이 하나님의 사랑이다. 말씀을 통해서 가르쳐주신다.

2. 응답하시는 하나님

(1) 전능하시는 하나님

예레미야서에서 포로로 갈 것과 올 것 까지도 예언하셨다. 포로로 간다고 하더라도 결코 하나님은 떠나시지 않는다. 에스겔, 에스더, 다니엘, 세친구 등을 통해 하나님께서 늘 역사하셨다. 반드시 하나님 앞에 바로 서서 마음을 결단하고 기도하는 자에게는 응답하시는 하나님이다. 에스더와 다니엘은 포로생활 가운데서도 응답받고 승리하는 삶을 살았다. 그렇기 때문에 하나님께서는 오늘도 말씀하신다. 내게 부르짖으라는 것이다. 부르짖으면 응답하겠다는 것이다. 부르짖으라는 것은 내가 응답할 능력이 있다는 것이다. 나에게만 돌아오면 문제를 해결해주겠다는 것이다. 우리는 예수 그리스도를 생각해면서 기도하고 있다. 그 분은 십자가에서 우리의 모든 문제를 해결하셨다. 주님앞에 나가서 기도만 하게되면 완벽하게 인도해주실 줄로 믿는다.

요14:16 내가 아버지께 구하겠으니 그가 또 다른 보혜사를 너희에게 주사 영원토록 너희와 함께 있게 하리니

우리 렘넌트 예배 때 이 말씀을 잠깐 했었다. 다른 보혜사 하고 성령에 대해서만 이야기했다. 진짜 보혜사는 예수님을 나타낸다. 다른 보혜사라는 것은 우리와 늘 함께하시는 그 하나님이다. 그래서 우리를 위로해주시고 대언해주시고 보호해주시고 변호사 역할을 감당하신다. 그런데 예수님도 이 땅에 계시면서 항상 그렇게 하셨다. 항상 함께하시고 보호해주시고 말씀주시고 인도해주셨다. 그런데 예수님께서 부활하시고 승천하셔서 보좌우편에 계시지만 지금도 역시 보혜사 예수님이시다.

요일2:1 나의 자녀들아 내가 이것을 너희에게 씀은 너희로 죄를 범하지 않게 하려 함이라 만일 누가 죄를 범하여도 아버지 앞에서 우리에게 대언자가 있으니 곧 의로우신 예수 그리스도시라

여기서 우리 대언자라고 나타나는 defender, comforter, counselor라고 해석이 된다. 이것이 보혜사라는 의미를 갖고있다. 대언자가 있으니 곧 의로우신 예수 그리스도 시니라 한다. 지금도 우리를 보호해주시고 지켜주시고 인도해주신다. 그렇기 때문에 주님께서는 지금도 우리의 세가지 저주를 해결해주신다. 죄와 저주가 완전히 주님의 이름으로 해결되고있다. 사단의 권세에서 해방해주시는 참 왕으로서의 역할을 감당하셨다. 하나님 만나는 평강의 길로 인도하시는 주님이시다. 그 주님께서 말씀하셨다.

요14:14 내 이름으로 무엇이든지 내게 구하면 내가 행하리라

주님께서 24시 대기하고 계시다는 것이다. 24시 너와 함께하고 계시다는 것을 나타낸다. 그렇기 때문에 우리는 기도만하면 된다. 이것을 언약으로 잡으시기 바란다. 저는 이것은 굳게 언약으로 잡고 기도하고있다. 주님 주님께서 내 이름으로 무엇이든지 내게 구하면 행한다고 말씀하시지 않았습니까. 주님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 이루어질 줄 믿습니다. 그런데 이것이 정말로 이루어지는 것이다. 말씀이 그랬으니까. 오늘 여러분들에게 특별히 잡아야할 것이 기도 응답받는 5가지 방법이다. 이 말씀을 꼭 잡으시고 기도할 때 사용하시기 바란다. 꼭 각인시켜서 기도하실 때 생각하시기 바란다. 반드시 놀라운 역사를 이 한 해 받게될 줄로 믿는다.

(2) 기도응답(5가지)

첫번째이다.

요 15:16 너희가 나를 택한 것이 아니요 내가 너희를 택하여 세웠나니 이는 너희로 가서 열매를 맺게 하고 또 너희 열매가 항상 있게 하여 내 이름으로 아버지께 무엇을 구하든지 다 받게 하려 함이라

여기서 가장 중요한 것이 맨 먼저 말씀하신 너희가 나를 택한 것이 아니요 내가 너희를 택했다고 하신 것이다. 내가 노력해서 하나님 자녀가 된 것이 아니라 하나님이 나를 택하셔서 하나님 자녀가 된 것이다. 하나님이 나를 택하셨다면 취소시키는 일이 없다. 억만 죄악 가운데 있었던 나를 주님의 십자가를 통해서 구원하셨으니까 예수님께서 나를 지켜주시고 인도하신다. 그러니까 우리가 주님앞에 나가기만 하면 언제든지 용서해주시고 바른 길로 인도하신다. 이 택하신 이유가 바로 너희로 가서 열매를 맺게 하고 너희 열매가 항상 있게하기 위해서 그랬다는 것이다. 열매를 위해서 기도하시기 바란다. 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 열매를 맺을 수 있도록 도와주세요 기도하시기 바란다. 내 이름으로 아버지께 무엇을 구하든지 다 받게 하려 함이라 하셨다. 열매를 놓고 기도하게되면 반드시 문을 열어주신다는 것이다.

두번째이다.

빌 4:6 아무 것도 염려하지 말고 다만 모든 일에 기도와 간구로, 너희 구할 것을 감사함으로 하나님께 아뢰라

염려할 것, 두려운 것이 있느냐, 아무것도 염려하지 말라는 것이다. 살다보면 걱정되는 것이 많이 있다. 전혀 염려하지 말라고 하신다. 다만 해야할 것은 모든 일에 기도와 간구로 구할 것을 감사함으로 아뢰라는 것이다. 주님께서는 나와 함께하시고 지켜주시고 인도하시는데 왜 염려 근심 걱정하는가. 일이 생기면 감사하시기 바란다. 염려거리가 생기면 감사하시기 바란다. 그러면 해결된다. 주님께서 기도하라는 내용을 보게되면 아무것도 전혀 모두 이런 말씀밖에 없다. 틀림이 없다는 것이다. 구분하는 것이 아니라 모든 일을 아뢰라는 것이다. 해결 못해주실까. 해결해 주시겠다는 것이다.

세번째이다.

요일5:14 그를 향하여 우리가 가진 바 담대함이 이것이니 그의 뜻대로 무엇을 구하면 들으심이라

무엇이든지 들어주는 조건이 있는데 그의 뜻대로 구하라는 것이다. 주님의 뜻을 찾으시기 바란다. 주님의 뜻을 맞추어서 기도하면 반드시 무엇이든지 들어주시겠다는 것이다.

네번째이다.

요15:7 너희가 내 안에 거하고 내 말이 너희 안에 거하면 무엇이든지 원하는 대로 구하라 그리하면 이루리라

뜻대로 구하라 했는데 뜻을 잘 모르겠다면 말씀을 잡으면 된다. 말씀을 각인시키시라. 언약으로 잡으시라. 내 말이 너희안에 구하면 무엇이든지 원하는데로 구하라는 것이다. 말씀은 반드시 성취되니까.

다섯번째이다.

막11:23-24 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 누구든지 이 산더러 들리어 바다에 던져지라 하며 그 말하는 것이 이루어질 줄 믿고 마음에 의심하지 아니하면 그대로 되리라 그러므로 내가 너희에게 말하노니 무엇이든지 기도하고 구하는 것은 받은 줄로 믿으라 그리하면 너희에게 그대로 되리라

믿음을 가지라는 얘기이다. 믿음을 갖고 기도하는 두가지 방법을 이야기하고 있다. 믿고 의심하지 아니하면 그대로 된다는 것이다. 여러분들이 기도하는 순간에 마음에 이루어질 것에 믿음이 오게되면 틀림없이 이루어지는 것이다. 믿고 의심하지 아니하면 그대로 된다는 것이다. 그러니까 이것을 잘 잡고 기도하시기 바란다. 그리고 구하는 것은 받은 줄 믿으라는 것이다. 구하고 난 다음에 틀림없이 주님께서 들어주실거야 하고 믿음이 오게 되면 틀림없이 된다는 것이다. 기도할 때 어떤 것은 붙잡고 어떤 것은 놓치는 것이 아니라 이 다섯가지를 한꺼번에 생각하시라. 그러면 반드시 놀라운 응답의 역사가 나타나게 될 것이다. 그러면 오늘 말씀과 마찬가지로 네가 알지 못하는 큰고 은밀한 일을 보이리라 하는 역사가 나타날 줄로 믿는다.

3. 크고 은밀한 응답

(1) 응밀한 응답

우리에게 있어서 가장 크고 은밀한 일은 성령충만 받는 것이다.

렘31:31 여호와의 말씀이니라 보라 날이 이르리니 내가 이스라엘 집과 유다 집에 새 언약을 맺으리라

바로 이 새 언약이 성령의 역사이다. 예수님의 십자가를 통해서 완성시키고 우리에게 주신 놀라우신 하나님 나라가 임하는 역사가 성령의 역사이다. 세상 사람들이 아무도 모르는 위로부터 내려오는 능력이다. 그렇기 때문에 이 다섯가지를 놓고 기도하게 되면 반드시 이 응답이 있을 줄로 믿는다. 올 해 응답받아야할 기도제목을 드리겠다.

(2) 새로운 갱신

먼저 기도하실 때 갈 2:20을 붙잡고 기도하시기 바란다.

갈2:20 내가 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못 박혔나니 그런즉 이제는 내가 사는 것이 아니요 오직 내 안에 그리스도께서 사시는 것이라 이제 내가 육체 가운데 사는 것은 나를 사랑하사 나를 위하여 자기 자신을 버리신 하나님의 아들을 믿는 믿음 안에서 사는 것이라

하나님 저에게 이 갈라디아서 2장 20절의 삶이 성취되게 하여 주옵소서 기도하시기 바란다. 그리고 오력이 회복되게 하옵소서 기도하시기 바란다. 갈 2:20을 위한 오력이 되시기 바란다. 많은 사람들이 자기 육신을 위한 성령충만을 위해서 기도한다. 능력, 권능, 충만을 주세요 하면서 주시면 내 육신을 위해 써먹으려는 속마음이 들어있다. 그렇게 되면 성령의 충만함을 받지 못한다. 아무리 부르짖어도 힘들 것이다. 갈 2:20을 딱 잡으시기 바란다. 나는 죽고 오직 내 안에 그리스도만 사십니다 하고 오력을 잡으시기 바란다. 2020년도 1월 1일부터 40일 작정기도를 다시 시작하겠다. 정말 올 해는 큰 응답 받아야겠다. 이번에 기도에 대한 렘 33:2-3 말씀을 주신 것도 주시겠다고 하시면서 주신 말씀인 줄로 믿는다. 1월 1일부터 작정기도 들어가시기 바란다. 기도시간을 내가 가능한 시간으로 정하시기 바란다. 나는 기도하는데 하루에 최소 두시간을 할 수 있어 하면 두시간도 좋다. 나는 한시간만 하겠다, 나는 30분밖에 없다, 혹은 한시간을 나누어서 하겠다 해도 좋다. 내가 할 시간을 정해서 계속 하시기 바란다. 두번째이다. 우리 기도수첩을 다 보시는 줄로 믿는다. 기도수첩 말씀을 꼭 잡고 기도하시기 바란다. 하나님의 뜻은 기도제목을 통해서 언약이 나오고 뜻이 나오기 때문에 얼마나 좋은지 모른다. 말씀잡고 기도하고 너무나 좋다. 그리고 또 하나가 있다. 우리가 저번에 기도하면서 렘넌트 집사님이 이야기한 것인데 제가 참 감명을 받았다. 우리 교회는 성경 읽는 것을 했으면 좋겠다고 이야기했다. 이것을 어떻게하면 같이 읽을까 고민했다. 그래서 제가 응답을 받았다. 보통 장 수로 이야기한다. 그래도 좋다. 그런데 저는 하루에 30분만 성경 읽는 시간을 가지시기 바란다. 시편 같은 경우는 30분이면 많이 읽을 수 있을 것이다. 어떤 것은 한 두장 밖에 못 읽을 수도 있다. 일하시는 분들은 시간을 많이 못낼 수도 있다. 하다 안하게 되면 자꾸만 잊어먹고 못하게되고 포기하는 일이 생긴다. 그런데 내가 올 한 해는 30분을 매일 내서 성경을 읽겠다 하시기 바란다. 아마 이렇게 되면 일년에 한 번은 읽을 수 있을 것 같다. 굉장히 영적으로 힘을 얻는 시간이 될 것이다. 세번째이다. 지금 계속 메세지가 나타나는데 전도 대상자를 놓고 기도하시기 바란다. 지금 본부에서 나오는 메세지에서 300명을 놓고 기도하라고 나온다. 전체가 다 300명을 놓고 기도하는 운동이 벌어지고 있다. 여러분들 아시는 분들을 다 적고 기도해보시기 바란다. 그 중에 특별히 내가 이번 주에는 이 세 명을 놓고 기도하겠다 하면 그 분들을 놓고 기도하시기 바란다. 다섯 명도 좋고 열 명도 좋고 300명 다 해도 좋다. 특별히 전도 대상자가 있다면 1일 3작을 하시기 바란다. 그 사람을 놓게 하루에 세 번 기도하시기 바란다. 기도하시다가 교회화해야겠다 하시는 분 계시면 또 1일 3작으로 세 번 기도하시기 바란다. 하루에 1일 3작을 하는데 정한 것이 없이 하는 것이 아니라 한 사람당 아침 점심 저녁으로 1분씩만 하면 된다. 하나님께서 다 듣고 계신 줄로 믿는다. 지금 이 말씀 드린 것은 기도와 성경읽기 전도 대상자 놓고 기도하는 것은 1월 1일 오늘부터 시작하시기 바란다. 아마 하나님께서 올 해는 여러분을 통해서 놀라운 크고 은밀한 일을 보이시는 역사가 나타나게될 줄로 믿는다.

결론

렘33:3 너는 내게 부르짖으라 내가 네게 응답하겠고 네가 알지 못하는 크고 은밀한 일을 네게 보이리라

이 말씀을 믿으시기 바란다. 그리고 기도하시기 바란다. 반드시 성취될 줄로 믿는다. 분명히 내가 기도하게 되면 내가 알지 못하는 크고 은밀한 일을 보이실거야 하는 믿음이 오시게된다면 틀림없이 역사가 나타날 줄로 믿는다. 올 해는 기쁨의 한 해가 되길 바란다.

As I was preparing the New Year’s message, I was thinking about the year of 2019 and I was able to give tremendous thanksgiving to God. As I was thinking about the, I realized how lacking and weak I was but God continued to pour down His endless grace. As the year has passed, God has given me more peace. I am much at peace. I can’t wait to see how much more God will bless me and how the Holy Spirit will work. I am amazed at how much God has given me peace. As I was thinking about this, I remembered the poem called “Footsteps in the sand”. I thought it would be good if we looked at this poem together. One man was worried about something and worried if God was really with him. He was always concerned about that. Then, one day, he fell into a serious problem. Within that serious problem, there was no answers from God and felt alone. It was such a difficult time for him. He felt that God wasn’t with him. But, one day, he had a dream. In that dream, he was holding hands with Jesus, walking on the beach. As he saw Jesus was with, he felt so glad to see Jesus with him and asked Jesus if he was with him the whole time? Jesus replied that He was always with him. Jesus asked for him to look back at the paths that he taken. He saw the footsteps behind him along the paths that he walked. As he walked on the paths, there are times where he sees two sets of footsteps but sometimes, there was only one. During times of hardships, there was only one set of footsteps. He asked the Lord, “During times of hardships, you were not with me because there was only one set of footsteps.” The Lord replied, “Those footsteps are not yours but they are Mine.” Then, the man replied, “How can they be the Lord’s? Where are mine?” The Lord responds, “It was too hard for you during those times so I had to carry you on my back.” God was always with this man and never let this. I think this is true. We think that God issn’t with us and we feel like we are living alone in this world but we may think this way but God is always with us no matter what. When you make this into your confession for your walk of faith, then there is nothing for you to worry abut. Especially what we should be thankful for is that God is always holding onto us during times o hardships. Those are times where God is pouring down HIs tremendous love and care. That story really touched my heart. I realized that it was true. God never left me. Whenever I had hard times, I realized that God was with me. If that is so, then there is nothing for me to worry about. Whenever you face hardships, there is nothing for you to worry about. May you have victory with this faith. I believe that in most difficult times, God will grant you the blessing that He is with you. In today’s passage, the Israelites were going through times of hardships.

1. The Background of the Main Passage

(1) Prophecies about the destruction

The Israelites were gong through a very difficult time. God never left the Israelites but the Israelites thought that God wasn’t watching them or with them so they continued to live a life of sin, crime, and idolatry. But each time of hardships, God was with them but the Israelites thought that god wasn’t with them os they continued to worship idols instead. This passage was written during the time of most unbelief committed by the Israelites. God spoke to Israel in Jeremiah 31:37 (“If heaven above can be measured, And the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel For all that they have done, says the Lord.”) - What does this Word mean? Who can measures the skies? It is only God alone. Who can search the foundations of the earth? Only the Lord is able. This Lord, was speaking to the Israelites. God promised that He will cast out the seed of Israel for all the sins that the Israelites committed. This meant that God will cast them out and it will be fulfilled according to His word. The extent of sins that the Israelites is shown in Jeremiah 32:34-35 (“But they set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to defile it. 35 And they built the high places of Baal which are in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I did not command them, nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.”) - There were idols in the temple of Jerusalem. They were suppose to worship God but they were worshipping idols. They were setting up the shrines for the idol, Baal. They also sacrificed their children as sacrifices for their god idols. God’s wrath was high at this point and promised that His wrath will be upon them. In this scripture, it was written that the last king of Israel, King Hezekiah will be dragged off to Babylon. The entire land of Judah was completely destroyed. When you look at this, you can see God’s tremendous wrath but during the midst of God’s wrath, you can see God was with them throughout this whole process. When mankind get angry, they become enemies against each other but when God gets angry, He is with us and watching over us.

(2) The presence of the Word

Verse 2 - Whether it is destruction of whatever is done in Israel, it is God who is executing it. This shows that God is claiming that He is the Creator and the One who makes all things happen. This Lord, God was speaking to His people. God was showing the destruction that will come upon Israel but even though destruction will come to them, God promised them a new start for them. We see that in Jeremiah 32:37 (“Behold, I will gather them out of all countries where I have driven them in My anger, in My fury, and in great wrath; I will bring them back to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely.”) - God’s great angry and wrath was all over Israel but God still made His promise in this scripture. God is saying all of the people of Israel are scattered all. Over the world but God promised that hew i’ll bring them back. God’s great wrath was tremendous but God said that He cannot abandon them despite His anger and bring them back.

Jeremiah 33:7 (“And I will cause the captives of Judah and the captives of Israel to return, and will rebuild those places as at the first.”) - This is talking about the captives of Judah and Israel. Because of man’s sins and Solomon’s sin, it caused Israel to be split into two. They fought like enemies continually and never unite. After they became split in two, God promised that they will be bought back together and united. God unite them to become whole again. God said that it will be like it was at first.

Isaiah 43:19 (“Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”) - God calls them all back and have a new beginning. He will bring back new works fo recreation. Are you going through a hard time, it doesn’t matter because God said that He was with them. Even during times of captivity or when you return, God said that he was with them. This applies to us as well. Whenever we face hardships, God will never leave us. Whenever we face hardships, God is granting us the blessing to have a new beginning in our lives. May be things don’t work out and you get frustrated but that is the start of joy and happiness. Why is that? God wants you to realize something. Only when you realize that, then God said that he will bring it all into restoration. God is always with you and never leaves you. This is God’s love. God keeps teaching us through His Word.

2. God Who Answers

(1) The Almighty God

Verse 3 - He speaks of captivity and them returning from captivity. God works through all kinds of people like Esther, Daniel, Daniel’s three friends, and Ezekiel, and always working through His people. But what is absolute is that those who make an absolute resolution before God, then He will always give you the right answers. That is why individuals like Esther and Daniel were Abel to receive answers in times of hardships. That is why God spoke today, He is telling us to call to Him. What does it mean to call to Him? This means that He has the power to answer us. If we call to Him, then He will answer us. He is the One who has the absolute power. When we pray, we think of the name of Jesus Christ. He is the One who solved al of our problems on the cross. When you pray before Him, then He will guide you perfectly.

John 14:16 (“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.”) - We listened to the message during the Remnant Dedication Worship. I only spoke of the counselor but there is another counselor, which is Jesus Christ. He is the original counselor. The other counselor, is the Holy Spirit who is always with us. He is always comforts us, advocates for us. When Jesus was on earth, He always did that for His people. He always gave us His Word, comforted us, and was an advocate for us. After He resurrected, He is standing at the right side of God but continues to be our counselor.

1 John 2:1 (“My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.”) - The word, “advocate” can be translated into many different words like comforter, counselor, and defender. This is what it means to be a counselor. We have an advocate, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Even now, God continues to protect and guide us. Even now, He is solving our fundamental problems. Our fundamental problems can only be solved with the name of the Lord. He took on the role as the True King to break us free form Satan. He allowed us to meet God to be led into the life of peace. Jesus said this in John 14:14 (“If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”) - What does this mean? He is always on the watch for us 24 hours a day. This shows that God is with us 24 hours a day. All we have to do is pray. Take the as you covenant. I hold onto this as my covenant. God you have promised me, “If I ask anything in Your name, You will do it. I pray in Your name and it will be fulfilled.” And, it is being fulfilled according to God’s Word.

(2) Answers to prayer (five types)

I want you to hold onto the five types of prayer and take hold of this as you pray. I pray that you will imprinted with this and remember this when you pray. Then, I believe that God’s amazing works will take place in your life.

John 15:16 (“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”) - What is most important here is that we did not choose God but God chose us. We did not choose to accept Christ but God chose us first, that is why we were able to receive salvation. Since God chose us first, He cannot break that promise. While we were in sin, Jesus Christ died all of our sins and this Jesus protects us. The Lord will always guide and protect us when we go before Him in prayer. The reason why He called us so that we can bear fruit. Pray to bear fruit. Pray to bear the fruit that makes God happy. When you pray for fruit, then God promised that He will always answer your prayers.

Philippians 4:6 (“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”) - Is there anything to worry about or fear abut? Don’t worry about anything. I am sure you will find many things to worry about but God said not to worry about anything. All we have to do is in everything by prayer and supplication, in thanksgiving. God is with us so what is there for us to worry and fear about? If something happens, give thanksgiving. If there is something to worry about, be thankful then it will be solved. The content of our prayers as spoken by God, if we connect all things to pray and thanksgiving then God promised that He will always answer us.

1 John 5:14 (“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”) - There is one condition on how God will answer us, He will answer us when we seek after His will. When we pray coercing to god’s will then God promised that He will fulfill and answer what you have to say.

John 15:7 (“But Jesus answered them, 'My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.' ”) - You ask for God’s will but you are not sure what His will. Take hold of His Word. Allow the Word to be imprinted in you and take hold of it as your covenant. If God’s Word abides in us, then it will be done for us. God’s Word will aways be fulfilled. The reason is because God’s Word is within His will.

Mark 11:23-24 (“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”) - Have faith. There are two ways to pray in faith. Pray with faith and don’t have doubt in your heart. If you pray and have no doubt in your heart, then it will be done according to what you ask. Take hold of this firmly and pray. Secondly, once you ask for it, believe that you will receive it. If you have faith that you will receive it, then you will receive it. May you receive answers. I have told you these five things. It is not holding onto a few of them but think of the five as one. Then, God’s amazing works will take place.

3. Great and Unsearchable Thing

(1) The mysterious answers

The most tremendous thing in our lives is receiving the filling of the Holy Spirit. Jeremiah 31:31 (“Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.”) - The new covenant is receiving the filling of the Holy Spirit. It is allowing the working of God’s kingdom, which was completed after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We have this great mystery to receive what comes from above. When you hold onto the five things when you pray, then answers will come to you. Let me share some prayer topics with you which will be fulfilled this year.

(2) Renewal

Before you pray, pray staring with Galatians 2:20 (“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”). Pray that Galatians 2:20 will be fulfilled in your life. Also, pray for the five powers to be restored upon your life. May these five powers be fulfilled for the sake of Galatians 2:20. When people think of receiving the filling of the Holy Spirit, they think of it is very physical, mystical way. When you think this way, then you cannot receive the filling of the Holy Spirit in the correct way. You can cry out to God for it, but you will not receive it. Pray just holding onto Galatians 2:20, where you have died in Christ and only Christ lives through you.

We will starting the 40-day prayer challenge again for this new year. We need to receive great answers this year. God granted us the message of Jeremiah 33:2-3 because He wants to give us great answers. That is why we starting this prayer challenge again for this new year. Schedule a time that is best for you. If you think that you can pray for two hours or only one hour, then dedicate those times to pray. Whatever that may be, dedicate and schedule those times to pray.

Secondly, I am sure you look at your prayer journal. Take hold of the prayer journal messages. I am sure God’s covenant and will be revealed to us through those prayer journal messages and HIs Word. It is so good to receive HIs Word through daily prayer journal messages. One more thing. One our remnant deacons mentioned and suggested this and I was really moved when she mentioned this. She suggested that our church can start Bible reading together. I thought this was a great suggestion. I wondered on how we can read the Bible together? I received my answer. Most of time you say that you can read 5-10 chapters a day but I want to challenge you to set aside 30 minutes a day to read the Bible. You can read many chapters of Psalms in 30 minutes or you can read one chapter in 30 minutes. For those who are working, you may not be able to spend 30 minutes doing that but this new year, I want to challenge you to resolve to dedicate at least 30 minutes to read the Bible. If you do this, then you can read the entire Bible at least once within a year span. I am hoping that you have read the Bible at least once in your life but if you have not read the entire Bible, I hope that you can take hold of this opportunity to read it. If you have already read the Bible once, I hope that you can take hold of this opportunity read the Bible once again. May this be a time to receive great spiritual strength.

Thirdly, we have continued to receive this message from the Headquarters (HQ) but continue to pray for your evangelism subjects. From the HQ message, Pastor Ryu told us to make a list of 300 people that you want to pray for and evangelize to. We are aiming for everyone to write down 300 people that you may know and pray for them. Maybe you can choose three people that you can pray for in concentration for each day or each week. Or, you can pray for at five, 10, or 300 people per day, it doesn’t matter how you do it. Pray in concentration for them three times a day. Also, people you know who are suffering spiritually, mentally, and physical problems, then pray for them in concentration. If you need to pray for them to become part of our church, pray for them as well. We are not doing this without content but when you pray for each person for one minute, then that becomes tremendous and God will absolutely listen. What I have shared with you is prayer, Bible reading, and praying for your evangelist list is something that we must start today. If we continue to do this, then God will work His great and unsearchable things which you do not know.

<Conclusion>

Hold onto this covenant of verse 3 - Believe in this message and pray with it. Then, it will absolutely be fulfilled. When you pray and believe that great and unsearchable things will come to you, then it will absolutely be fulfilled in your life. This new year, may it be a year of full of joy.
