I met a man, who has two young daughters. He is struggling with general courses. He was raised Catholic, but he hadn’t been to church in a while. I think that happens to a lot of Catholics. My partner explained the gospel, but each of us said a prayer for him. He said he was relieved and felt like our prayer helped. He seemed genuine about it: his facial expression and his way of talking. He didn’t accept. We told him we would keep him in our prayer. He would asked for His strength and wisdom. He’s a second-semester freshman. He said his life had been unfair recently. He’s going through a rough patch. He tries to do well in everything he does, but what he said reminded of the “good deeds” part. When people say that, I cringe because that’s not the way. That’s not how you truly please God.
Two people were eating outside. They kindly rejected.
When I spoke to a man from East Africa, I thought about how he missed Bible study. If his church provided Bible study to him, he would understand the Bible more accurately. When he was talking about how he didn’t believe in the Bible but now he is a new Jehovah’s Witness (JW), he seemed to see things happen right in front of his eyes. I’m thankful that I have Bible study. I’m able to relay that. He really is passionate. He is also spiritually lost. If he had Bible study, I don’t think he would have become a JW. It was such a long conversation between him and my partner. I got to see what a JW believed in, my partner and I were able to see why he believed in JW.
We asked if we could talk to the first guy, and he said he was working on a project. He didn’t say specifically but he seemed to deal with academics and parenting responsibilities. We each prayed for him. He said he really needed it. He said as long as he has good conscience and don’t have bad intentions for others, he’s good with God. We talked about a couple of different things. We gave him a tract, and told him to read it in free time. I briefly explain the gospel to him. We shook hands and said, “God allows those situations to us, so that we turn to him. When things are going out of control and you’re time-limited, He wants you to ask for strength and wisdom.” I encouraged him to start there for His relationship with God.
Half of the time, I got lost and circled around outside. I went to the library, and it was closed. I went to where the Career Advise offices was, which was where I went last time and shared the gospel with a student, and I met another student. He is an education major. He was raised Catholic and was currently not practicing. He said he was between Yes and No for the question that asks “Can you explain who Jesus is?” I presented a brief gospel message with him. He said he has accepted Jesus, and he looked like he wanted to end the conversation. I gave him the tract.
